Making use of your Influence Points for that edge.

If you're an avid gamer or you have some real life money to spend, you'll generally have no problems with purchasing
many of the key tools required to be on equal footing with your opponents. To be able to purchase a good solid base of 20-25 Champions and have a good two solid rune pages (tier 3's) completed takes roughly 800+ Games played. To most casual players that aspire to win more but wish to not partake in no financial or time involved commitment.

Well I've got good news, because that's what this blog is dedicated to.

ANTICIPATE THE FAIL
by The Rain Man @ June 12, 2011

There is a fine art to solo queue that I like to call "Anticipating the Fail".

To begin with, if you know you are playing with a 1200 jungler and you are about to do a Baron: ANTICIPATE THE FAIL! Get the last hit on baron and save the game, avoiding the fail smite altogether! Or better yet, tell your team to back off Baron if you guys are trying to do a 15 minute Baron and you know the other team has it warded and they are all heading there and there is absolutely no chance that you are going to kill it. If you don't tell your team to back off, you are [...]

New Meta?
by The Rain Man @ June 11, 2011

It feels like this last couple of months a new metagame has arisen. Early on, it started as a gold/10 meta involving heart of gold stacking. You could stack Heart of Golds on basically any hero and dominate while getting constant flows of money without having to farm at all. You still can, but the Heart of Gold meta doesn't really work on most heroes except some roamers and maybe junglers.

Now, however, this really annoying meta has emerged in which basically any hero will start regrowth and turn it into an early philo stone. Then, at next shop, they will grab another [...]

So you're 0-1, now what?

For whatever reason, you have either given first blood or died very early on in the game. Whether you got ganked, your lane partner dced, or you just plain got outplayed, this will decide how of the rest of the game will go for you. Or will it?

Many players, after dying once in the laning phase, will then continue to die and dig themselves and their teammates into a hole that will bring about a 20 minute surrender. Why is this? Well, dieing in lane early on is frustrating. You lose your ability to lane as your opponents get items from kills, they might even start zoning [...]

5 Things that really grind my gears

You know what really grinds my gears?

1. People that complain about MIA's after getting triple/quadruple ganked.

You are overextending when you are pushing into their base alone at level 10, and if you weren't so tunnel visioned you would see that there is not a single enemy in any other lane on this big box in the bottom right hand corner of your screen that is known as the "Minimap".

2. People that want to be "unique" and play champions that will most certainly lead to the downfall of their team.

If you are [...]

How to always be one step ahead.

In many games, people tend to stick to one build until the very end of the game.
Perhaps the squishy carry will grab a banshees or a Guardian angel here and there,
but rarely do they mix up their build half way through the game.
Different champions will excel with different core builds and it's very understandable
that if you do well with a certain build that you want to repeat that process.
However, it's that mindset that kills you when you reach the point where people
start to figure out how to counter your build half way through the game.
You need [...]

Roam VS Support
by The Rain Man @ June 6, 2011

First off, let me start by saying that much of the LoL community mistakenly puts "Roaming" and "Supporting" in the same category. "Roaming" is a meta that was brought around in Solo Queue and has adapted well due to the fact that it can add serious lane pressure to multiple lanes. Early game, roamers will have presence in either the middle lane, the top lane, or the enemy jungle (counterjungling). In middle-late game, roamers are responsible for map control, and they will end up stacking gold/10 items in order to afford oracles and massive amounts of wards. A [...]
Niche Champions

A lot of people ask why I play Garen or Poppy. They're such a specialty type of champ that's rarely seen in normal games, let alone competitive tournament games. It's because they're niche champions. While they might not be good in every situation, they are extremely strong when played in specific situations and lineups. Examples of these types of champions would be Garen, Poppy, Blitz, Galio, Morgana, Nidalee, Mordekaiser, Maokai, Jax, Heimerdinger, etc. These niche champions generally have a very high skill ceiling. When reached, these skill ceilings allow the niche [...]

Communication wins games

LoL is a game built around teamwork to win games, whether it is "Hey I am first pick what do you guys want to play?" or "Get ready for Baron in a minute, I have bloodrazor", communication can win or lose games.

Communicating in champion select can be the difference between a win or a loss. Especially if you are 4th or 5th pick. Letting players know if you can carry, jungle, or roam (Your Role) and which role you are best at can really improve your chances at winning. Communication in game can be good as well.

Simply typing out dragon and baron [...]

ZOMFG OP NERF NAO!!1
by The Rain Man @ June 4, 2011

OK so theres stuff that needs to be taken care of. Like now. I mean like right NAO!

Gold per 10 mechanics iz OP nerf NAO!!1. Gold per 10 allows players to stack a few philo stones or hearts of gold on characters like Jarvan or Poppy and be completely set for late game dominance.

My fix? Remove Gold per 10 altogether, this is an unnecessary mechanic. Gold per 10 rewards you for building Gold per 10 no matter what, and you really can build it on any hero.

Vlad iz OP nerf NAO!!1. In order to beat Vlad you must severely outplay him in lane, or [...]
