Edit day 1 DONE FOR DAY: Because I bet everyone finds it tedious to look through the entire thread for a answer, ima post em here:
What role do you play when someone steals your jungle? How do you feel when someone takes your jungle/How comfortable are you with other roles?
Support.
If they're higher pick, its meh w/e but if they're lower pick I'm pretty pissed. I'm very comfortable on support but very little on mid/AD carry. I'm ok at top with champs like GP or Cho as i'm used to playing bruisers anyway.
How do you like it in Gaming house?
It's actually a very nice change of pace living on your own (without your usual parents/relatives etc) so you can do everything on your own. I've found buying/shopping to be relaxing rather than a chore. So I'm actually pretty happy with it so far.
What runes do you use for jungle Maokai? When do you guys go to sleep and when do you wake up?
You can find my Maokai guide on our site, http://www.solomid.net/guides.php and then just go to the bottom where the list of champions are and click the one you want. Usually TRM/Chaox are the first to sleep (12am I guess), I vary from 12am to 4am while Regi sometimes goes to bed at like 8am. Xpecial has been playing starwars lately until 4am. Dyrus usually stays up or goes to bed early to stream in the morning. Often I'm the 2nd or only one awake at 8-10am (dyrus sometimes up) then chaox, then TRM then xpecial/regi. Yea long poorly constructed paragraph :/
Do any of you cook in the house? What's the kind of food you guys eat?
We make various simple dishes (say wontons or pasta), often its Chaox doing those. Rainman usually makes pasta while I often cook eggs/bacon but Xpecial/Chaox sometimes cook eggs. We mostly eat 'lean cuisine' frozen dinners or hot pockets now since we shop at the local waldbaums a lot of the time now instead of the far away costco.
Can we be friends? Are you actually an ODD one?
Maybeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I might be, I never really thought I was normal.
i will play on EU-W with you any chance too see you?
We're actually planning on moving to EU-W for good after Kiev as we figure there is more competition there in ranked teams than on the NA server.
If your fans are the best fans in the world, and if i'm your #1 fan, does that make me the greatest fan in the entire world?
Also, how do you Shaco? Build / mindset?
I guess... I suck horribly at shaco so I'll just say go PD/IE since I have no clue. My mindset would be to think like a korean, 'how much could i possibly troll the enemy since i'm a huge troll anyway'.
You predicted awhile ago that Maokai is gonna be strong FotM in the future and you were correct.
Which is the next surprise FotM jungler?
I'm not sure for the time being as right now from my experience against the EU teams, the early game powerhouses are all very strong except they're all common jungle picks (skarner, rammus, leesin).
y u so odd bro
F u xspecial ed
Why don't you get drunk & stream more often : (
Also, can any of you guys ask Chaox how did he change his cursor in LoL? He has a brighter mouse pointer, which makes it alot easier to keep it on track.
I might but recently we've been needing to be sober for our scrims and often I'm too tired by the end of it to drink and stream. I'd also probably break several summoner code violations by losing games drunk too (like i did on new years).
Chaox has no idea what you're talking about :/
What 1-2 runepages & champs would you suggest to start jungling?
Flat armor seals, flat MR glyphs (upgrade to per level later), while having a mix of AD/Armorpen/Attackspeed quints. I'd recommend Warwick, Lee Sin and Skarner as good introduction champions to every type of jungle. With Warwick being the easiest of course.
can you pwease update some of your guides. jungling is my weakest role and I'd love to improve it
This will be occurring weekly, unless a new guide comes out. Currently I've updated my Lee Sin guide (and released a 2nd nocturne one) and will intend to update some of the others within the future weeks.
1. Is becoming one of the top junglers in the world something you've always been motivated about and striving towards?
2. Do you think you've become more competitive or less competitive since you first started in the professional LoL scene?
I'm always trying to be better, when I joined TSM, I figured I might as well be the best at my role in order to help our team win.
I've always been insanely competitive, I remember back in beta when I was an unknown that instead of sucking up to the current 'top' players, i'd rather do my best to trash them to prove that I can be one of them too. So it's mostly been the same since I've started online gaming.
Would you be willing to add your comments to my Nunu guide?
Maybeeee, haven't played Nunu much as a jungler as I don't like him the current jungle and he falls behind hard.
Do you think starting blue then ganking enemy jungler at red with lee sin is a viable way to go if your lanes are prepared to back you up? Also did you eat Regi's chocolate BRO?
It depends on how fast you can do it and how strong your lanes are but yes it is a viable option if the enemy doesn't use any wards and your lanes aren't weaker as Lee Sin can defeat most opponents that aggro a red buff.
And no I didn't.
Hey! First of all, love your streams mate! Thanks a lot!
Okay, to the questions: Is counter-jungling still viable? So, is it better to counter-jungle, hereby weakening the enemy jungler, or should one rather try to gank and therefore have the POSSIBILITY to give your team an advantage?
Thank You, OddBro
Counter jungling the enemy buffs early or the enemy wraiths is still fairly viable. However if you have little warding or forget the timing, it becomes more difficult to counter the small camps. Often it is extremely dangerous to do if the opponents are aware you're doing it unless you're a strong jungle. Often I find it better to farm camps and gank if theres an over extended lane.
How does streaming a game compare to getting a normal job for someone your age? Are you planning to do this stuff your whole life?
I find it just as tiring in the past couple weeks than any other job I've had due to the fact we have to practice for Kiev. While it'd be nice to do my whole life, I'm well aware that it could indeed not work out so I'm not putting all my chips in just this.
Hi, since i havent seen many Kayle junglers(xcept the one where they failed and picked her vs Reginalds LB )have you tried it ?
Reidan plays an ok one but I think DPS champs in the jungle tend to fall behind immensely compared to the solo/AD carry as they actually need to spend all their farm on damage items or else they become useless. I've tried it a couple times but unless you snowball, you tend to be fairly weak mid-late game as you won't have the farm a AD carry has.
When you open new tabs in Chrome I often see manga sites on your most visited links.
What manga are you reading now and what are your favourites?
I read quite a few, mostly all the popular ones for the time being since they have actual frequent release dates : Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail, HunterXHunter, Gantz, Beelzebub, Cage of Eden, Claymore, Peacemaker, Judge and probably a few others I can't recall unless I see it on the list of updated issues.
Blitzcrank jungle, (in your opinion) is it viable?
In solo queue I think it'll obviously work as it's not that risky compared to something like Yi which is harder to do with a random public ranked team. I haven't tried it out in a real game or a scrim but I figure that he'd be similar to pantheon where it may be a little hard to outfarm the strong junglers like udyr/skarner/maokai/leesin who do massive damage to the camps with short cooldowns.
How do you compare your style of jungling vs saint's style of jungling. Both of you are excellent junglers, what do you believe are your strengths vs saint's strengths.
Given the choice would you rather feed regi, trm, chaos a kill, or take the kill yourself?
Do you still feel that counter juggling is a viable tactic in e new jungle? When you do counter jungle do you leave a small creep left or take everything? Is it only viable to counter jungle the buff camps?
Which popular tournament jungler have the worst late game? Which ones have the best late game?
How often does tsm "review the tape" and go over scrim wins or losses together as a team.
Do you guys have preset strategies on what to do if you lose the late game and have to come back?
Do you feel that it is more beneficial to gank top lane and try to win that lane or bottom?
How long will you wait in a brush in a tournament to get a gank? (what is the longest you would wait)
First off, screw you (jk) for asking so many buttttt I'll answer em anyway:
While I don't think there are much differences between styles of jungle, Saint tends to decide ganks for himself rather than listening to someone (say hotshot) and will manage to get more CS because he isn't listening to his team. I tend (sometimes to a fault) to believe what my laners are telling me when they tell me a possible kill could occur and often if it fails, i'll be behind in CS. I also probably spend too much on wards rather than relying on my team to do it.
I'd probably rather feed Regi the kill so he can snowball the early game into hopefully a early win or buy enough time for Chaox to carry the late game.
Full on counterjungling sucks but not full (say taking wraiths and buffs periodically) is viable. Always leave 1 small creep left unless it's a buff camp (as you'll want to know the timer and hide the timer from the opponent).
Out of the ones I play, probably Udyr or Jarvan, I wouldn't say Maokai has a weak late game since his CC is the best by far and his ulti is amazing later. I think someone like GP or Nocturne will have the best late game but require a huge amount of gold.
Not much recently.
Nope :/
Probably bottom lane but it is often significantly harder to gank that lane.
Probably a minute.
What's your opinion on shyvanna in the jungle?
Very strong early game but absolutely awful mid-late game due to her inability to farm much and having no CC.
What do you find to be the biggest difference between jungling at low levels compared to higher levels? It's easy to look at the lanes and say ,"CS, positioning, etc." but to me it seems a bit less clear for jungle since it's more dynamic (in my opinion). This is especially true if you look at the styles of different players who jungler. Some tend to focus more on farm, others on helping their team, but in the end there seems to be many viable strategies.
Next, what is your plan as jungler in a game if every lane is losing, or if multiple lanes are losing incredibly hard. I find this situation difficult as a jungler, because your teammates are less likely to be in position to have a successful gank if they're behind (especially true in mid). Also, in this situation the enemy starts to gain a lot of advantage over you in terms of levels and farm, and as a jungler it's very easy to fall behind.
And a silly question if you feel like: Jungle Urgot? With his shield/passive his sustain is acceptable. His AOE is also an armor debuff which helps clear. Ganks are decent with ranged AA, his slow on attacks/Q and even better with his ult. Not the best pick, but I kind of want to see him somewhere because I think his abilities are cool and he doesn't appear to have much of a place right now.
Thank you for your responses, I look forward to them!
At low levels, laners have the attention span of about 5 seconds and tend to not do basic things such as stop a Nunu from trashing their jungler (thats what I did in 1500 elo games) as they tend to focus only on their lane instead of looking at the minimap. They also tend to overextend like tards constantly allowing for easy ganks and easy kills. That said, I'd say focus on ganking when there are super easy ganks while clearing camps on the way.
Either gank the lane which has the easiest kill or start split pushing/power farming. Often in this situation, dragons and teamfights will be a loss because your entire team is weaker than their respective lanes and you're forced to gank the strongest lane you have or split push when the enemy does dragons.
Unfortunately I haven't found the time to play jungle Urgot yet
why u like penis bro
I dont, and get the hell out of my AMA Regi
what college did you go to before the gaming house?
University of Calgary
How did you end up joining and meeting the other TSM members?
Teemo or Ezreal?
I played a ton in beta on a team (me/l0cust/classick/mrthezebra/cfangnasty) that was probably considered top 4 in NA at the time and once our team broke up (Regi's had broken up as well and the other was EG with different members), Regi contacted me to form a team with him/locodoco/saintvicious. We picked up Chaox after seeing him play (though I wasn't solo queueing that much so I had no idea how he played and I still thought saint was the biggest troll ever back then). Eventually we picked up The Rain Man (we thought he was the biggest troll back then too) and eventually Xpecial. With the goal of the taking season 1, we practiced starting from go4lol 1 (NA got go4lols much later than EU). Eventually we qualified for dreamhack and we finally met up in Sweden.
Teemo as I think his shrooms and Blind are more useful to a team than a mobile champ like Ezreal who does weak damage unless fed.
Who has the best laugh: Trundle, Lux, Skarner, Wukong, or Soraka?
Lux definitely, psycho laughs are such are turn on. Nunu Bot and Wukong have good ones.
Do you see skarner nerfs comming in ?
As his current state his basicly above anyone else together with maokai..
If yes, what should be nerfed ?
Yes, I assume his slow will be nerfed and maybe some of the stat bonuses on his shield.
Oddone you mentioned in your Maokai jungle commentary that if you're counter jungled you have to adapt to it somehow. Can you explain as to how you're supposed to adapt? Do you go for more ganks?
Often your camps will be ravaged early game by invaders so all you can do is clear them and do a fast level 3 gank while you're waiting for the camps to respawn as you obviously won't get your early level 4. I think the biggest threat is them taking your blue and locking you out from there blue, in that case you'll mostly have to kill the small camps while killing the red buff camp with smite then likely going back to heal before a gank as you'll have no mana.
If you have children would your family be TheOddMany?
No :/
I really like to jungle but i can only jungle trundle, udyr, gp and skarner. Are there any other junglers i should really try to learn?
Lee Sin and Maokai are the two I'd highly recommend you using.
OddOne, question
Have you ever seen silence of the lambs?
Sometimes late at night, I dream about that movie, especially the part where he takes the skin suit and puts it on and tucks his cock and makes a mangina.
I imagine you doing that.
I also picture you as a John Wynn Gacey impersonator
Y'know, wearing a clown suit and shit, cutting up little kids while wearing a clown suit and dissolving them in acid before burying their bones in concrete.
Just a thought.
>.>
Have you tried jungle taric?
I have been doing this for a few games, and find the ganks are strong, and your jungle clearing becomes much faster at level 6, the only factor holding you back is a slow start.
I have really enjoyed this kind of game, and even if you don't try it, do you have any thoughts on how I can make it stronger? I use attack speed marks and seals, MR per level glyphs, and Magic penetration quints.
I would ask about jungle mundo, but I know it's all troll anyway
I tried it long ago and it went decent but I haven't tried it in the new jungle yet.
sup odd bro I wanna know what program/course did you take in collage? How did that help you to become a pro gamer and i wanna know the story about how you become a pro gamer?
Computer Science, mostly every course in the bachelor's tree.
I mostly played games all my life but I mostly stayed with a select few games (often blizzard's like starcraft and warcraft 3) and played dota for a long time until I wanted to play a little more competitive so I found some friends online to try tournaments there. I eventually was told of LoL Open Beta shortly after the NA dota scene was near death (I think it went on life support shortly after) and picked that game up. Eventually I made my own team until I got picked up by Haters make us Famous to make a team. Then the rest of the story is mostly in a previous response (how I met TSM etc). But it definitely took a lot of time as I played a ton for many years.
How does Trundle stand in this new jungle? Is he still viable? It just seems that one of his strongest assets, his dueling, is worse because he can't finsh the enemy junglier and this is really the only point of counter jungling now (besides buffs).
I think he's still useful in arranged teams but not so great in solo queue since your team tends to be unable to make use of the pillar. However I think he's still good in the new jungle because of the new masteries which allows him to clear camps very quickly with just Wriggles. He shouldn't have much of a problem with counterjunglers as he basically goes even with every single person but neither side will be able to kill each other unless they have a red buff and a extra summoner on the opponent.
Why do you (or Xpecial) not play Nunu in scrims? Do you not think Nunu is viable?
I don't like him in the jungle currently as it takes forever to kill camps mid game when his consume isn't even doing a third of the HP of the big minion and that if you spam ice blast on camps, he'll run out of mana. This results in him being horribly behind in farm due to his inability to clear his own camps efficiently. Full on counterjungling is weak now due to camps being worth less and the fact Nunu can't take on any of the now popular jungle picks such as Lee Sin and Skarner.
As for why we don't run him in support, I guess xpecial and chaox would have to answer that. Though I personally do think he's far more viable as a support than a jungler.
Is pantheon jungle just hella slow or is it just me?
It is slow early as you require your smite to do both of the buffs and he tends to take significant damage at early levels due to his inability to sustain or damage the camps fast enough. He is forced to gank early and often and hopefully be successful to stay close to the enemy farmer type jungle
Have you ever tried the new lifesteal quintessences in the jungle with characters like Noc, Lee, Udyr, and if they are viable vs ARP/Flat Ad/Movespd
I honestly haven't tried it as they look absolutely terrible even on paper. The stats they give are horribly low and won't honestly make a difference in most jungle routes in terms of sustainability as you likely need a bit more lifesteal to really see a difference. Other quints like arp/AD/MS make the jungle die faster so you don't need the sustain as much as the jungle minions are likely getting less hits in as they die maybe a few seconds sooner, negating the need for the lifesteal quints.
Two questions:
1) What are some things that set the top tier AD carry's (Chaox, Doublelift) apart from even a good AD carry?
2) Why don't you guys get new chairs? You play games 12 hours a day sitting in them. Those dinette set crap chairs you guys all use are so ghetto.
1) While I'm no expert at bottom, I assume they lasthit near perfectly and have very good positioning in teamfights.
2) I honestly should, unlike Xpecial I could probably get a new one. Though Chaox bought one for like 200 and just gave it to Reg and went back to the crappy one since he didn't like it.
What junglers, or individual abilities would you recommend people not to smartcast on? I know cruzer(not sure if you like him or not) doesn't smartcast Lee Sin's Q sometimes.
Thanks for your time, I love watching your stream, you're so entertaining.
Karthus Wall, Lee Sin W (I do it anyway but I feel you shouldn't) but I haven't found any other one that I felt that smartcast wasn't better for as if you know the range of the spell for most, you'll likely not care about the targetting unless its a extremely precise shot (sometimes I manually click the spell to get the line targetting right for a hidden gank).
What is the best skin in the game? Also, what kind of team does jungle Maokai work best on?
Astronaut Teemo ,Northern Storm Volibear and Nunu Bot.
Maokai either wants lanes who are strong to gank for (lane oriented team comp, win lane win game) or a AOE comp with aoe damage champs such as Kennen or Karthus (and many others) as he can lay his ult down to cover them as well as snare/CC people in it. He can also be used as a 2nd AP when the top lane is a AD bruiser.
What are your priorities when jungling? (Dragon control, over farming, over ganking, etc).
I see you check the other junglers cs a ton. When you see they are behind or ahead, what options do you have, and how does this number effect your play?
What are good triggers for a jungler to go back and buy?
Often it depends on the situation, dragons are a situational thing, if one lane goes back and yours is still there healthy, its a instant dragon call. If the enemy jungler ganks top and you're in the bottom area, it's either a dragon or a counter jungle opportunity. Most of this goes into proper warding/vision/map awareness. Ganks shouldn't be forced unless its either easy as hell, or the enemy is being super aggressive and is awaiting to be punished.
Most of the time, you're checking CS to remind yourself if you can 1v1 the enemy jungler or are stronger than them. Often this will tell you if you can block them at dragon or stop them as you know relatively you're probably stronger than them at that point unless its really close.
You should buy if there are no objectives nearby (camps or ganks) and you're out of sight and won't risk losing a respawning objective. Recalling in sight of a ward could have the enemy either baron or do some objective like gank/push instantly since they know you will be away to stop it.
ive been learnin more of how to jungle by watching you. but ive never really seen you get counter jungled hard. how do you deal with counter jungleing? for instance i was playing leesin earlier and im fairly new to him. I heard that ganking at level 2 is a really good strat. on the way to gank mid at level two an udyr runs by and proceeds to slap my shit by my wraiths. he kills me cause i guess i wasnt as strong as him. that was all he needed to have free reign in my jungle. i bought wards to see when he came in, tried to stop him but no matter what i tried he continued to slap my shit. Could it be how i started? should i not try to gank at level 2 if there are certain champs playing? how stop counter? my teammates tried to help too but to no avail.
The biggest problem with counterjungling is that the lanes of the jungle being countered will likely come to the aid of the defensive jungler first as they're simply closer. Thus resulting in a 1v3 for a critical 2-5 seconds where when his team comes for a 3v3, it'll be 2.5 v 3 since they're likely already weak.
When the enemy gets a lead like that, it's hard to stop without early help before he snowballs. If your team had low CC, it might've been the reason why he was able to continue it without fear later. Ganking at level 2 should only be done if you think you can do significant damage such as take their HP and blow their summoners or kill them outright. As once you gank, you have to do it fast as the enemy jungler will see your exact location on the map and will be able to switch routes to take advantage of seeing you.
I have 2 questions about some junglers, with some reasoning behind it.
1. Wriggle's/Wits End and then tank after on jungle Nunu, why not? You do the camps quick and you are still tanky.
2. Wriggle's/Phantom dancer/atmas, jungle Sion, why not? No need to buy warmogs early if you max E and you are tanky in team fights with W and Ult and with phantom and merc you can't be easily kited.
1. While I haven't done it myself, even with the buffs, look where Nunu stands: http://leagueoflegen...27_attack_speed'
Nunu's attackspeed is horrifically low for a melee bruiser, even adding in the bloodboil doesn't make up for it as he has to waste skillpoints to merely catch up.
Nunu is actually a terrible tank without items as you notice every other single bruiser jungle has something in their kit which helps them tank, Nunu's is a situational not very strong Consume. GP has anti CC/heal, Lee Sin has shield+instantmobility, Skarner/Udyr have spammable Shields/Speedbuff, Shyvana/Rammus have Armor/MR skills and Maokai has a passive on top of his CC and Ultimate. This combined with the fact that it'll take a while for Nunu to farm that Wriggles/Wits end as he has no Aoe like say Udyr/Skarner/Shyv will mean he'll fall behind in farming as well as be destroyed in fights as he can't tank.
2. You either do no damage or you get CCed and instantly killed as you stop lifestealing. AD sions aren't popular because of those two reasons as his E will not be that strong durability wise as you think. It'd take 200 CS for Sion's E at max level to reach 600 hp, and this is considering E is level 5 at champion level 1. PD doesn't offer enough mobility for Sion not to die unless the enemy team has weak CC as even guys like Master Yi still die as the moment a true snare hits, he stops lifestealing or moving and can instantly die.
what is your favorite 5 man team comp?
I honestly never gave much thought to it but I'd figure something like Kayle/Sivir/Janna/Soraka with me being Master Yi would be pretty cool as I'd get to do everything.
Would you like a different competitive map from time to time or are you content with playing summoners rift for all eternity?
Its hard to say, the game is fairly entrenched in the current map that all the other maps are unpopular and don't get as much support as summoner's rift. And while new maps would be a refreshing change, it's unknown if it'd be 'better' than summoner's rift as it's unclear what could be vastly improved on summoner's rift.
What is your opinion on frozen mallet on lee? mallet + atmas?
It's alright if you aren't the sole tank of the team and if you snowball early as it'll let you snowball harder. If you are the only tank on the team, it's probably better to get a pure defense item like warmogs if you can get it fast. If you aren't snowballing, often I prefer dorans and Aegis as they give a huge benefit fast and early. Mallet just isn't a great defensive item like warmogs for the price so I avoid it often unless I snowball and have a 2nd tank on the team.
Hmm whats ur opinion on having wit's end on maokai instead of running atk spd marks and also what runes do you run on jungle tiger udyr?
I dislike wits end on Maokai since he shouldn't be autoattacking much because his spells are usually up and you're spending time getting into position constantly since your melee hits are lacking. The only time you want to be hitting is when the target you want to kill is not moving and you need to outtank them before they kill you. So I wouldn't want to spend 2000~ gold on a wits end as I wouldn't make use of the stats anyway.
15 Flat AD (marks/quints are flat AD), flat armor seals, mr per level glyphs.
how the fuck do i beat rumble top.
Obviously this isn't my expertise so not sure why this is asked but to the best of my knowledge, my team always picks something that is useful in a gank as rumble is very vulnerable to ganks so we just do that. Though I think AD nidalee eats him but I've only seen the matchup a few times (where nid usually crushed him).
what do u think of the following team comp
Leblanc, maokai, irelia/gp, vayne, alistar/taric, also got any suggestions for junglers that go good with ireila solo top
The only problem I see with that comp (though you might wanna swap Vayne after the nerfs) is that it lacks a solid wave clearer, so if the enemy pushes with 5, you may have trouble as your team can't clear waves to stop them from doing damage to the tower. Also, most ganking jungles work with irelia as well as farmers as irelia can beat most lanes and is strong with ganks as well.
What dies FOTM mean? Could renekton jungle?
Flavor of the month, it means some champ or strategy is currently receiving a surge of that popularity (often for a couple weeks or a month) until they get nerfed or people realize they aren't that strong.
Renekton jungle suffers from the same problems as Tryn, his ganks tend to be weak because his fury is slowly diminishing unless he is hitting a camp which means you can't be patient in ganks as your fury will drain to zero if you wait. He also has durability/damage problems as the jungle doesn't give that much farm compared to solo lane.
