Introduction

Hi my name is Darts502,
I play a lot of Nidalee, and I am going to give insight on how I play her as a bruiser in the Top Lane.
Nidalee is a hyper-mobile, split pusher, tank, in the Top Lane who I feel with two damage items can do a lot of damage for a tank.
Nidalee excels at small fights, and split-pushing, and retains tankyness whilst doing a lot of damage.


Pros:
* Very strong Laning against Melee opponents.
* Extremely strong level 6 all-in.
* One of the most mobile champions IMO
* Very strong all in post-6
* 6 Spells
*Very good farmer post-6
* Heal + 60% AS buff.
* Imo one of the best split pushers in the game with a
* Very fun to play
* Strong snowball

Cons:
* somewhat squishy.
* Pretty mana hungry through most stages of the game till you get
* Pre-6 can get stomped if against a strong early game opponent, or a very skilled top laner.
* Sort of item dependant.
* Has 0 CC but that is fixed with
* Last hitting pre-6 is a little worse than most champions

Runes

These runes are the most basic runes a Top Laner can take, they offer you AD which I feel like Nidalee really needs early game for last hitting as her pre-6 farming isn't specifically amazing.

You can run Lifesteal Quints if you feel like you need the sustain in Laning.

You can swap Glyphs for non-scaling if you are against an AP top such as Vlad. You can use CDR as well if you can get away with it.
Arm pen Marks can work, although I have not tried them I hear people have had decent success as it will increase the damage of auto-attacks.

Hybrid Pen Marks work very well on Nidalee in a match-up you feel like you won't be too confident going into, so it helps your scaling a little better whilst trading out AD.

AD Marks will give you all the early AD you need for harassment though.

I have been messing around with S4 Masteries a little bit, and this is what I have come to like with Nidalee.

Butcher and Double-Edged Sword for making your harassing extremely annoying/strong early game with your passive+brush control you can just poke for days.

At the moment 9/21 is what looks best for Nidalee as a bruiser, 3 points in Tenacious because Nidalee is usually the one that tries to dive in and disrupt the back line, and you will be in the heart of the foe, so 3 points really can help. This seems to be the optimal page for most bruisers. 9/21 are the Masteries I suggest on most Top Laners.

Summoner Sets

Ignite & Flash
Ignite+Flash is the most potent Top Lane combo for Nidalee IMO.
Seeing Nidalee can already jump over walls Flash isn't always needed, but honestly Flash is just so useful.
Ignite is for kill potential. Someone on 700 hp Ignite+ Cougar Q will do a lot of damage.
Flash is just the best Summoner IMO, so much utility: Re-position, gap-close, escape, you name it.
Teleport & Flash
Teleport has had its cooldown reduced A LOT this Season, so feel free to take it if you feel like you do not need the extra kill potential.
Could be good if you need to split push, even though you should already be doing that on Nidalee and as a Top Laner. Teleport can have its merits.
Against a Shen lane it can really help to bring Teleport so you can go to Bot Lane if he Teleports there.

Items To Try Out
Starting Items: I think + 3 Health Potions is a very good start on Nidalee, because it gives her early sustain + mana which you might need for Q's and E's. is still a very strong start, but compared to a Flask start on Nidalee I find it obsolete.

Is also a completely viable start against someone with a weak early game for example: Nasus and Jax are two that come straight to mind.

Items To Try Out Section
With Bischu's Early-Mid game oriented build becoming quite popular, Guinsoo's Rageblade has come to the attention of a lot of Nidalee players, multiple players have been building items in this section, even though it is a troll-buy I will try them all and post my thoughts accordingly.

- This item makes you a COMPLETE terror early game, it will help you go into mid game with ease, and let you dominate, I have never used this item on her, and I will try it out eventually so say what it's exact pro's and con's are.


I feel like & need their own little paragraph on when to pick these up, honestly some Nidalee players prefer Trinity Force over Iceborn Gauntlet because they prefer a more carry-type build, but I will explain the proper time to pick up either of them.
: When against a laner with strong AD, or a team with at least 2 AD IMO, or if you have a weak CC team, this item will give you CC, CDR, mana, and A LOT of Armor. I feel like there is never a wrong time to buy this item if Armor is needed. This is also a good pick-up when you are behind in lane.

: Also another strong item on Nidalee, provides you with the capability to kite more, and chase even harder, but this item should be picked up if the enemy team has 2 or more people with AP. This item has its merits over to its Iceborn Gauntlet counterpart. It gives you more damage, and will give you the ability to carry way harder. Pretty much pick it up if you're snowballing like mad or need the extra damage for you, and your team, it also helps if you're a against a lane that will try to carry hard, so you can keep up in damage. I started building this item a lot more now. I would even go as far as to say it is a core item replacing IBG, it is really dependant though.

When Behind: These are some items that I feel work when you are behind. Note ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS Build tank, or aim for as much gold efficiency as possible. While behind you are in no position to try to build to carry the game. Picking up a Is not really a thing most Nidalee players do, but when you are behind this item can be a god send, same with a the extra 380 HP in Lane can really help you survive an all-in and help you get back on your feet. I put a In there because honestly the item is so gold efficient, that if you are only behind a kill or so in lane, if you pick one up just to try to get a little bit of strength it could go really well for you. Always try to go for gold efficiency.

Situational Items: I feel like they are not strong enough to be a complete core on Nidalee, although if you're against Vlad or Yorick or any AP lane I suggest getting a

in S3 used to be a very good item to buy on Top Laners if you haven't bought Merc Treads

. Not quite sure how viable Lanes buying this item is currently. I would suggest picking this up against a: Fiddlesticks, Rammus, Annie. Anyone with a long duration of disables, stuns, fears, roots, etc. This item will help you out big time.

is an item pretty similar to when you look at it, this item could be a pick up if you have snowballed really far ahead, and want a free MS boost and some crit damage, I have never tried this, but I imagine it would be a sort of troll/fun item not to be built too often. The Armor Pen really matches will with Nidalee's auto-attacks, it is more of a pick up for a normals game, not really good for a competetive Nidalee build.

Frozen Mallet is an interesting item which can offer you the CC you might possibly need. I would call this a situational pick because your team might already have all the cc needed, and you can just pick up more tank items. I would pick this team up if you have a very low CC team, for example: Your Mid Lane is a Katarina (0 CC) You're clearly a Nidalee Top (0 CC) Jungler is a Shyvana (0 CC) The Frozen Mallet pick-up might give you some CC your team needs to help pick-up kills if you built a Trinity Force

Sunfire cape is a weird item for a Top Lane Nidalee IMO, it just delays your core item which is always a based item, it can be picked up as a third or fourth item, but I feel like the passive is wasted on Nidalee, as she isn't always at the heart of a fight. It can be picked up if you went Trinity Force and for some odd reason you wouldn't rather a Randuin's Omen It is just personal prefference.

Is usually the second damage I would pick-up, this item is an amazing item for allowing you to duel people (especially ADC), Split push and kite. Usually you only rush this item against Shyvana and Mundo.

stery page (21 points to get Tenacity) I don't feel like Mercury Treads are 100% needed. Unless against those with the CC listed in the Items build section.

I consider Trinity to be core>IBG for the fact that once you play Tri-force Nidalee, the damage on it feels amazing, IBG can feel a little obsolete to use in 90% of games.

- Pick up when: You need to carry hard, do more damage, out scale a laner, out trade a laner, you are ahead/snowballing and when you don't need Amor ASAP

- Pick up when: You are behind, need to have more Armor (IE, Zed Lane), need the CC, team lacks some form of CC, need to kite harder and when your team needs someone with more tank-stats> the ability to carry. With a Iceborn Gauntlet pick-up I feel like a should be picked up 2nd item to help you get the damage rolling.

Slow on Iceborn Gauntlet +Randuin's Omen Active on ADC, that is just demolishing in a team fight if you can pull all that off.

Also this build makes you pretty tanky whilst retaining good damage. Even more damage if you build a Trinity Force.
Sometimes I feel like Trinity>IBG if you need to carry harder for a last item.

The common build order for me personally, excluding starting items are (Descending order) :

(Just note: This is not how I build her every game, she is extremely flexible, this is just a rough idea of how to build her for people that are looking for a rough idea of an order.
This part will refer to what I think is to be core on her during Laning.

x2 - These help you win Lane, they give you a good amount of HP + AD to help those AA's hurt even more.

- This item is what makes Nidalee a deadly duelist, the enhanced damage on your AA's and on your Takedown make you an early game monster, not to mention melting towers.

- To help you have even more insane mobility.

From here onwards are complete items, as the part above was core items for laning

(From this point on I will just list items as a whole, rather than buying portions of them, for the sake of simplicity)
- This is your first, and main big damage item. This item can make you duel just about anyone if you can lower them down with auto-attack harass. (The AA damage increase you will get from Trinity, as well as the Sheen proc will help you with this.) Either Gauntlet or Trinity Force will work as "core" Items, look at item's section above to see when to pick-up each one.

- to mitigate the damage all auto-attack based champions, your Top Laner (Which is 90% of the time AD and AA reliant(Most FoTM champions atm use AA's alot))

- Generally your first big tank item (Unless against an AP Top, in that case Visage is the other tank item to rush) This will help make you harder to duel, and make you A LOT tankier.

This item gives you: Even more amazing sustain, good dueling potential, amazing split-push potential, good active damage, an pseudo escape and a decent amount of AS and AD.

- This item will make you even tankier, give you Magic Resist so the AP and other Magic Damage dealers can't do as much damage to you, this will also give you 20% CDR which is very nice on Nidalee.

- Cats have 9 lives, this will give you 10. This item is amazing as Nidalee loves to 1v1 people. It can give you a second chance. (Either you get them low, they kill you and you respawn and kill them, or they are really high and kill you again) Gives you reasonable Armor and MR as well. I like this as a last item, but it can be replaced by any item of preference.

Just to note again: This isn't how I build her every game, just a rough guide on how to build her in a rough order.
If this little build order part looks too messy I would appreciate someone commenting about it, so I can either delete it or improve it.

At level 1 because you can trap gank paths, enemy jungle, your lane.
Max because the heal and the AS is also really nice for early trades.
Q Second because spear damage + W is more of a one point wonder also Cougar Q as well.
W Last because it is a one point wonder and just seems the most logical to max last.
R Upgrade when ever you can. Level 6 is your first major powerspike, and Cougar forms damage scales with ultimate upgrades.

Skills

Prowl
One of the best Passive abilities in the game in my opinion. Free MS in brushes. Great for lane control + kiting, escaping ganks, escaping a bad situation in the jungle or while split pushing.

This Passive combined with Nidalee's Pounce makes her almost impossible to catch.
Javelin Toss / Takedown
Javelin Toss: Usually a long ranged nuke on AP Midalee, but on AD Nidalee it doesn't hit for 3/4th hp, but it still scales on distance so it can do quite a bit of damage, definitely don't neglect its damage. You can also reset auto-attack timers with this spell too. Do not underestimate the amount of damage a Javelin Toss can do because it scales with distance as well as Ability Power.

Takedown: Nidalee's % health missing damage skill, very strong at low hp, a very good finisher, even for harrasing opponents after blowing your W + E + Q on them in Cougar form.

Honestly, Takedown does a lot of damage if used for poke, eventually it will hit harder and harder.
Bushwhack / Pounce
This ability is amazing.
Bushwack: Small vision boost, 40% MR and AD SHRED late game, so your whole team can take advantage opposed to shred. Gives you lane control through people not wanting to step on them, save you from ganks, and amazing whilst split pushing. Do not neglect Wards though, still ward whilst using this.

I use this ability to AOE farm pre-6

Pounce: Your escape/small initiation tool/gap closer. A very low cool down escape tool which will make you almost impossible to chase down post-6.
Primal Surge / Swipe
Primal Surge: A strong heal + AS buff, this skill is amazing to max first because of the fact that you can keep yourself sustained in lane, win trades with it, free AS (60% maxed) to bully or to give to a late game ADC. The amount of options for it just make it a very strong spell for Nidalee's kit.

Swipe: Nidalee's bread and butter damage/wave clear spell. Does good base damage + AOE. You can almost one shot the back line at level 6 which is pretty stronk.
Aspect Of The Cougar
Aspect Of The Cougar, this is what makes Nidalee well Nidalee, transformation and the ability to use more even more spells, free MS from being in Cougar form. I could not imagine playing Nidalee without it.

This is such a big powerspike for Nidalee every time she can level it. This is her trade-mark ability.

Champion Matchups

A very scary match up to play, he can just jump on you and pop you at all parts of the game.

Play really safely. I MEAN REALLY SAFE. Aatrox can just melt you. Avoid the level 2 cheese.
Avoid his Blades of Torment (E) harass, any smart Aatrox will max this first to harass you out of lane.
In this match up you have to play very passive, build armor to counter him and ask for as many jungle ganks as you can.

I feel like this match-up is a 3 because it is very dependent on the skill of the Nidalee player.
You really want to try to stay out of range of his Apprehend. If you know what the range of his skills you can kite him out in the early game, if you get caught up in his Apprehend you are going to get destroyed by his Guillotine, pretty much him getting the chance to jump on you means the lane is lost. Play this with caution. Darius is a hyper-aggressive lane bully who excels at putting pressure on you mentally and in game. He can still do good damage even when 0-3
Darius has no late-game, and will resort to split pushing, play this with caution.

God, this guy is one annoying person to lane against, he lands a single Infected Cleaver (Q) and that is a minimum of 80 damage done to you. It does %health damage to and has a slow, so getting hit by one of these is going to really hurt you even people that build tanky (Current Top Lane meta) get hurt due to his %Health damage. His weakness is the same as AP Midalee, minions...If you stand behind minions and freeze the wave near you, he won't be able to do anything to you with his cleavers, and Mundo is very easy to gank as well, except post-6 when he has his ultimate when he can just run away and heal to near full hp.

Mundo with a few HP items is very annoying to kill in a team fight, as he just uses Sadism (Ultimate) and Burning Agony (W) then hurls Infected Cleavers at your ADC. An easy way to stop him is to apply anything that gives reduced healing such as or Grievous Wounds, this will cut his healing power.
Elise

This is a very scary match-up, any good Elise when she hits level 3, will try to all in you straight away and more than likely kill you or First Blood you, buy a Chalice of Harmony and get 2 Doran's Blades to try to keep up with her damage, after that build a Spirit Visage and she won't be able to touch you, at level 6 because she has no ultimate, with your powerspike at level 6 you can use your new set of spells to duel her, you can win the duel if you have some MR.

the amount of damage she can do is mental with %health damage, watch out, if she spams her Neurotoxin she will go OOM quickly

Let her get a kill and you lose lane and possibly the game

Irelia's damage all comes from auto-attacking, so will help you throughout the early-mid game against her.
Before level 9, you can out trade Irelia pretty easy if you manage to kite her for a bit, and can tell when her Hitan Style is on (When blades glow it is activated) She does a disgusting amount of True damage at level 9 (75 per hit) so you really are going to get blown up, because she has True damage, Magic damage, and Phsyical damage itemizing is hard against her, I suggest Iceborn Gauntlet and Randuin's Omen, Ninja Tabi after Double Doran's Blades can really help reduce the damage she does. those will shut down a lot of her damage/attack speed on you, try not to let her farm either, she is really item dependent so denying her of farm is key in this match up.
Jax

Early game Jax is pretty weak so REALLY take advantage of that fact, but after level 6 watch out he can jump on you and do insane damage with his combo Q + W + R (Passive) He can take out half of your HP in one burst.

Play the matchup after 6 very careful build asap to try to shut him down, you most likely will not out trade him after level 9, so before then try to have x2 Doran's Blades (Lane power) and Ninja Tabi (10% AA damage reduction) You really want to auto-attack him every time you get a chance or he can come out of this lane. Late game Jax is really scary, but if Jax plays too scared to jump on you when you're trying to split, try to poke him out of lane.

If you can stop Jax farming so he doesn't become a late-game hyper carry then that is the best thing you can do. Jax is going to split push whether you like it or not, honestly as Nidalee you more than likely won't be able to stop him unless you can kite like a God or you are a skilled Nidalee player.

If you crush him in lane, there is no redemption for him, you can continue to push Top Lane and he can't do anything about it.

Personally this is a match-up I have played many times, and I really dislike his sustain, it is counter productive to being a lane bully like Nidalee is.

This matchup belongs to you IF: You can harass him early on so he can't farm, keep his farm low, DON'T LET HIM FARM Syphoning Strike.
You let him stay in the Top Lane the game is over. Nasus is a ticking time bomb, diffuse him while you still can.

Start + x3 to be able to keep up sustain with him.
Get your Jungler to camp him as hard as he can, because no one wants a Late game terror, running through your team doing approx 50 AOE damage with ultimate + free 400 or so HP + 3 second cool down on Syphoning Strike with about 600 damage. That is just mental, your ADC will die and the team fight/game is over.

The key to this lane is when you all in remember this: Make sure you always pop ignite when he ults, it will cut down a lot of the HP he gains from using it. Sheen procs, they are your best friend, rush this over x2 Doran's Blades (Pick them up later) Try to use your Primal Surge (E) %60 AS and keep auto-attacking him down.
The best way to all in him will to be to: Ignite when he using his ultimate (try to have him down to about 60% health before you engage though), and kite out his Wither (Important due to the Slow, and the AS debuff) after that Ignite should have done it's work whilst you have done some AA damage, now is the time for the Cougar form, use your basic W + E + Q combo and that will chunk his HP down by a lot, from there you are free to do as the situation allows.
Nidalee

Now, this match up is completely dependent on the skill of YOU, a lot of Nidalee Tops tend to get Trinity Force then Blade of the Ruined King and go for straight carry build without knowing when is a good time to do it. This gives them lack of tankyness. I would get a Trinity Force and then one of the tank items I will list below.

I suggest building:
- If they tend to auto-attack more than they use Cougar form, this will shut down a lot of their damage and stop Cougar Q from doing too much damage at a higher health.

- If they camp in Cougar form, auto-attack close to never and always are using Cougar W + E.

Start + x3

In this match-up if you hit 6 first, jump on them, use your combo + and they are out of Lane.
Most Nidalee's that go for the build I mentioned at the top are not very experienced with her and don't get when to build what, and generally don't know the ins and outs of her, so if your skill level is higher; you can just stomp that lane.

this is entirely a skill match-up and I feel like if you are reading this guide you will have the upper hand in the Lane :)

Olaf

A pretty scary match up to play I would suggest Start + x3.

He can poke you out with Undertow (Q) + Reckless Swing (E) regardless of which one he is maxing, try to kite him to the best of your abilities, use brush to harass like it is your best friend. Olaf wins long engages, if you are certain you can out damage his two spell combo then try to poke him down in short fights and kite him. If you get a lead he won't win Lane again you.
Him getting close to you means you're going to get chunked, try to get him ganked to gain a lead if he pushes Lane.

Olaf is very strong at low HP, so be very aware of his passive + Vicious Strikes (Gives Lifesteal and Attack Speed) it could take you by surprise.
Pantheon

God, this guy.....You never have been poked out in a lane till you've been in one with Pantheon. It's okay, he has no late-game his damage just sucks, he must have spent all his time learning how to bake instead of how to fight :p

Start + x3
He is going to max his Spear Shot and just throw it at you every time it is on cool-down.
Iceborn is what you really want to rush it will stop his damage completely, also pick up a Giants Belt and Pantheon will just feel like he is useless to try to even come near you anymore, he will go off to pursue his dream as a baker.
He has no escapes, so try to get him ganked in the early game to get a good lead on him.
Renekton

Pre-6 you're the one getting pushed around, post-6 you can make him the slave.
The basic combo any Renekton will do to you is Slice and Dice>Ruthless Preditor>Cull of the Meek>Slice and Dice out. He can do that in under 3 seconds roughly, so he is very hard to trade with if he just pokes you like that. Always try to be in the bush for this match up so you can kite him well.

Watch out for his early game damage, and his very low cooldowns.

This match up can go either way depending on individual skill.
Either way, bait out his Dominus, kite him whilst it is on, then try to engage once it is down. Be careful of his very low cooldowns.

Renekton is designed to be a hyper-agressive Lane bully who just like Darius is amazing at zoning people.

If Rengar builds Sword of the Divine. You've fed him and the game is over.

Exaust: Will slow down his AS steriod which can make your life a pain.
Barrier: Will stop some of the burst damage he can do and help you win trades.

I suggest: start +
A lot of Rengar's main damage is from auto-attacking so keep that in mind, instead of rushing a Sheen get Glacial Shroud to stop him from doing as much damage to you, Rengar is either going to destroy you in lane and carry, or if you play safe you can stop him from getting a kill and hopefully shut him down, think of this match-up like Elise, try not to give them a chance to burst you with their disgusting power.

Since looking at IEM, WCG and OGN people have been building TankGar (Tank Rengar) Building tanky then getting a Bonetooth Necklace and a Trinity Force around mid-late game. This build works around his free 43 AD/MR from his max rank W which is what they max first, for the heal and the free resistences, do not neglect the damage this skill does. This build makes him a deadly split pusher, but lacks damage and teamwork in SoloQ due to the nature of people always grouping up early, and a non experienced Tankgar player following them instead of farming.

This lane becomes a farm lane if it is Tankgar, if it is assassin Rengar, be careful if he gets the chance to roam and snowball
Shen
Difficulty
Favors You
Shen has pretty nice damage + poke, but you can win this lane once you hit 6, your lack of CC can hurt because his ult won't be stopped by you, but damage him as much as you can before he teleports so your bot lane might be able to turn it around if they get lucky.

A lot of Shen's damage comes from his passive, his blade will start to glow purple when it is up, try not to near him because it hurts a lot early game, instead wait for him to use it on a minion before you try to engage on him, that kills his dueling strength by quite a bit.
Gives him immese sustain in Lane, try not to let him spam this on you, early game it hurts a lot too.
His W gives him a way to sustain the early game damage you will try to do to him, a lot of Shen players I see forget to use this skill, and that is the difference in skill level.

Shen is a big fan of split pushing when his Stand United (R) is up, so if you can time that, it will help a lot. Late game you may be able to duel him if you pick up Blade of the Ruined king.

Shen can trade with you, but if you play it good you can out trade him in small fights.
Shyvana
Difficulty

Shyvana's early game damage is pretty scary, she is retardedly tanky, just a pretty strong champion atm, post-6 you can really try to duel her because it is the fight of 0 CC, if she builds tank first it could probably be pretty easy to duel her because you can poke her out, but if she builds damage she is going to really hurt, but be squishy. Either way she does a lot of damage from skills
Watch out for the amount of damage her W can do to you, it really hurts early game.
Shyvana is an early game Lane bully, you really have to stay out of her range and dodge her Flame Breath that will stop a lot of her ranged poke on you.

You can always tell when she wants to get into your face though usually she will Flame Breath, then try to run at you with Burnout, or vice versa.

Start + x3

I suggest Blade of the Ruined King and Trinity force for offensive items, and a Randuin's Omen as your first tank item.
Singed

Start + x3 Singed is going to push your wave into the tower, not too much you can do about that, but any good Singed won't do that till he has at least a Catalyst of the Protector or a Tear of the Godess. If he pushes early, punish him for being low mana, watch out for his Fling it has some pretty good damage on it.

Kite him as much as you can, get a gank from your Jungler and kill him at level 6 if you can, if not he will and use Insanity Potion and run away, which can be good for you in some parts of the game.

A pretty scary match-up. The amount of damage Trynd can do at all stages of the game is very scary, although the best way to deal with him is try to harass him earliest on as possible, and call for jungle help when you can.

Trynd is a big fan of split-pushing so you're going to have to fight him at all stages of the game, around mid game you are tanky enough to be able to deal with him, really this match-up is really going to require you to get a Iceborn Gauntlet to slow him down or you can go for which would probably be a better pick up with a Trinity Force.

This match-up can go either way depending on who is a better player, Vlad will more than likely push you in completely to your tower which can give you safe farming, but pre-6 Nidalee isn't that great at under tower farming.
His poke is very strong, so you are going to be constantly poked, but don't worry, a Chalice of Harmony or Spectre's Cowl a can change that.

Vlad has a very strong powerspike at level 9, be weary of an all in.

Start +
Build a Spirit Visage to shut him down till he buys magic pen later on in the game.

Try to play it out to level 6 and take him out with a gank from your Jungler, don't let him free farm or he will carry the game.
Yorick
Difficulty

Yorick is an annoying Lane pusher who is very mana dependent honestly if you aren't a very skilled Nidalee player this match-up will be very annoying for you. You need to assert your Lane dominance early on and get control of at least one brush or this match-up is going to really get on your nerves, he uses his Gouls you run into the brush and the aggro on the Gouls will just switch to minions unless he has vision on you. Buy a Chalice of Harmony to negate the early harass and you can do fine. This guy is annoying but put up with it.

Start + x3 to be able to sustain the harass he can do to you.

Early Game

Use brushes to your advantage, walk out hit Lane opponent, then walk back in to reset minion aggro, keep a Bushwack in all 3 brushes + river brushes/river so you can see an incoming gank, but with the new Trinkets you will be warding anyway! (Trap on top of a ward can really help encase you tunnel)

In the early game you have to be as aggressive as possible, Nidalee isn't a passive laner.

Pretty much you want to use the brush to your advantage by AAing, then running into the brush to reset minion agro.
Try to AA everytime your Laner goes near a CS, keep AAing them when there are no minions for you to last hit, just be as aggressive as possible.

As soon as you get that level 6 pop-up telling you to upgrade your abilities, quickly get Cougar form, jump on them and W>Ignite>E>Q> Then start to AA them down as well as a Spear in the mixture too, this will land you a kill 70% of times.

Lane goes either 2 ways:
You play passive against someone very scary early game,
Or you completely make them your bitch and constantly harras them over and over till they back and you make them lose xp by showing into their tower.

Middle Game

I like to dignify Middle Game as when a tower or two has fallen, usually around 10-15 minutes. Usually it means the end of laning. Your goals are to:

Get kills - Roaming, killing laner.

Push towers down - This is what Nidalee does best.

Camp Top Lane

Pretty much the game plan for a mid game Nidalee is to do all of the above, duel your lane opponent, force them out of lane. Try to get as many towers as you can in this period of the game, as it will make a huge difference for late game.

Try to set traps at high traffic areas. Also remember to ward up their jungle if you are going to split-push so you can see people coming.

Late Game

It is late game, you should be trying to split push so your team can capitalise on people coming to stop you, but what the enemy team doesn't know is a post-6 Nidalee is really hard to catch, she is just too mobile, her split pushing with Iceborn Gauntlet + Blade of the Ruined King + Primal Surge (E) is so fast!you can destroy a tower in 15 seconds if you're left alone and can use Sheen procs well.

You really should try to get to the Inhib if you can, take it if possible, if not I usually stop at an outer-Tower and just group up with the team and try to make what ever happen, if grouping up doesn't seem too good, try going bottom lane and destroying that, they push it out when you leave and go back top. Make their life Hell and make them wish they banned or picked Nidalee

Teamfights

You're Nidalee you were made to jump into the backline and just go HAM and kill their ADC, try to pop the ADC or the AP if you get a chance, and just use your Iceborn Gauntlet AOE to slow everyone. Generally you don't want to be the initiator, you want to play mop up if you can, if not, just let someone like initiate then you can go in and wreck.

Nidalee is amazing at causing trouble for the back line of the enemy team. Just dive onto ADC, let your AP do the rest of the work, and your team follows up. You really want to try to hit low HP targets with your Cougar Q, as it is like a 4 second cooldown so it won't matter wasting it on a low HP Support.

Tips

Jumping over walls. here is a picture with all the spots you can jump.

Fighting in quick intervals will come out heavily in your favor.

You can cancel her Cougar Q if you click the floor mid animation, so you can get more AAs in and have a shorter animation for it.

Press ALT + E to heal yourself.

Abuse brushes to the absolute max as you get free movement speed and can cancel minion aggro

Soon as level 6/9/11 comes all in your lane opponent as they are your best powerspikes.

Abuse Cougar forms low as cooldowns.

Conclusion

Nidalee is a very strong Top Laner, split pusher, duelist and best of all she has 6 spells and is just so fun to play.
I honestly feel like Midalee doesn't even compare in the slightest to playing Top Lane Nidalee.

Skills, mid game, late game and teamfights all need more work. It'd also be nice to see other possible summoner combos or an explanation on why nothing else works very well.

The guide queue is pretty full at the moment so I've merely scrolled over you guide. I wanted to at least post this to give you something to do while you wait for a full review. You should go through and cut back heavily on your use of icons that are used in the middle of sentences/paragraphs/explanations. If the icon precedes a paragraph it is usually ok (ie. "<icon> A lot of Shen's damage comes from his passive, his blade will start to glow purple when it is up, try not to near him because it hurts a lot early game, instead wait for him to use it on a minion before you try to engage on him, that kills his dueling strength by quite a bit.").

An example of where text is more appropriate: "You really want to try to stay out of range of his <icon> If you know what the range of his <icon> you can kite him out in the early game, if you get caught up in his <icon> you are going to get destroyed by his <icon>" In this example it would possibly be acceptable to name the skill and then have (<icon>) after it for the first time the skill is referenced so long as mid-text icons are used very sparingly.

Icons are quite nifty for lists and it is acceptable to use them for such. A primary example being to list the items in an item build or to list a series of skills.
