26th November 2013 - Guide Published

My IGN name is Wardron and I play on the OCE servers. By no means am I a godlike player at League of Legends. Honestly, I'm pretty bad. I'm currently sitting in Platinum. I've grown to love Eve again over the past few patches, and I feel like she is in a really good spot at the moment. This guide is to help players achieve success in Solo Queue. I will try to update this guide on a regular basis, throughout each patch cycle.

Runes

This rune page is your go-to if you want to be aggressive and deal tons of damage.

Marks : The marks scale well with all your abilities, as your E gives you insane attack speed. This means that you will be dealing a mixture of physical and magic damage. Although you deal almost entirely magic damage in the late game, the early game is what matters with this rune page setup.

Seals : Now i'm still under consideration as to weather I prefer armor or health seals on Eve. The armor is extremely useful within the jungle, as it will reduce the damage of all monsters. However the health really does benefit you in ganks, allowing you to take 1-2 more hits more than you usually would. Up to you, but I think armor appears to be the best choice for jungling.

Glyphs : I run a mixture between flat magic resist and magic resist per level on my glyphs. The reason I do this, is so during the early ganks against an AP laner, I wont be completely chunked, as well as having some free magic resist in the late game. You could run magic resist per level glyphs for your entire page if you want, it's not too big of a deal.
Cooldown reduction Glyphs are also an option too with the new rune changes. Something I am yet to try, but worth considering.

Quints : These are vital. They allow you to zip around the map combined with the new utility mastery, giving you a free 4.5% movement speed at level 1. This equates to around 360 movement speed. Combine this with your W and you will be fast and ganking everywhere. Doing this allows you to build more offensive items, rather than rushing boots.

lot of points in the offensive tree". Yup. Your goal is to snowball the early game, and high amounts of damage will assist you with that process. Lets go over some of the mastery choices.

With the offensive tree, you can swap and change a few of the masteries. For example, I personally think Dangerous Game is brilliant. You could swap that out for something such as Expose Weakness . It's all up to your personal preferences. Spell Weaving and Martial Mastery sync so well with Eve's kit as well, which increases her early game strength even more.

With the remainder 8 points (or 9, depending on how you spend them), you could choose to grab 9 in defensive, or put 3 in utility for Fleet of Foot . I personally prefer putting those 3 points in utlity, as it allows me to roam the map with increased speed and create more pressure during ganks. I can also avoid boots until I finish my SotEL without feeling slow.

Summoner Sets

Smite & Flash
Viable Options

Smite : You need this, no question. With the new cooldown on smite, it helps your clear A LOT.

Flash : I like the utility it provides. You can flash in if you need to secure a kill, flash over a wall if your low. Safer all round, and a reliable summoner spell.

Ghost : Also a very viable option. Whilst I don't like ghost as much as flash, it syncs very well with your W and makes your ganks even more devastating.

Ignite : Secures kills, does heaps of damage and reduces the enemys healing. May be useful if the enemy has a Volibear or something, but you sacrifice a lot of utility from Flash or Ghost though.

Exhaust : Again, not a bad option. It assists with ganking, but then your sacrificing utility.Ghost/Flash are better options.

Summoners that 'work'

Barrier : Doesn't help you with ganks at all. Good for soaking up some damage I guess.

Heal : Same as barrier.

Cleanse : You can gank someone if they stun you, cleanse it and kill them I guess. It's not that bad in all honesty, but not the best option.

Teleport : You could do a teleport gank? With the reduced timer on teleporting to towers, it's not quite as useless. Still, you're sacrificing your flash.

Item Builds

Starting Build(s)
Early Game || Core items
Start with a Hunters Machette and 5 potions .

Grab the Spirit Stone on your first back, then build into a SotEL . Avoid getting boots until after you complete your SotEL. It gives you a massive increase in damage, as well as sustain in the jungle and gold generation.

Next, build a Hexdrinker . Finish off with Tear 2 boots. If the enemy team has a lot of physical damage, consider Tabi's . Otherwise, I almost always prefer Mercury's Treds due to the tenacity.

Things to consider:

If the enemy team has little to no magic resist, consider skipping the Hexdrinker and building a Cutlass. It gives you a slow, which can be handy when chasing down a single target.

Even if you're really far behind, a Hexdrinker is a very good item, and cost efficient. It will also give you some damage to burst down a single target, such as an AD carry.
Final Build(s)
Standard Final Items
The goal with this build to be a tanky/bruiser, who can initiate fights whilst being able to chase down a squishy target, such as the AD carry. Randuin's Omen is just really broken right now. Slowing the movement speed and attack speed of auto attackers, as well as an AOE slow is extremely useful. With Banshee's Veil and Guardian's Angel, you can swap them out for some different items, which I will discuss later on. Those are generally the safer options to go with though.

Also, the Distortion enchantment is really good right now. Buy it.

Situational Items

Ninja Tabi
Great against a team which has heavy amounts of physical damage. Especially useful due to it's reduction on Auto Attacks. Consider this if the enemy team has a jungler such as Master Yi.
Iceborn Gauntlet
Another useful item against physical damage heavy teams. Also provides a constant slow on your target, making it harder for them to kite you around. Consider this if your having trouble chasing down your targets, or you have a little extra gold in your pocket.
Blade of the Ruined King
Provides a point and click slow, which is very useful at chasing down a single target. Also, the attack speed sync's very well with the attack speed bonus on her E, as well as providing a little bit of lifesteal. Consider this item if you are fed.
Hextech Gunblade
I'm not the biggest fan of this item. It provides a slow, the same as Botrk. It also gives you spellvamp and lifesteal on a single item, which gives Eve a high amount of sustain. However due to your only single target ability being your E, which uses auto attacks, means that you aren't really making much use of the spellvamp.
Trinity Force
Another good item to chase down targets. Also provides insane burst. Consider this item if you are really fed.
Mercurial Scimitar
A really nice item actually. Good amount of damage, combined with a little bit of MR. Consider this against very high magic damage teams, or if CC is really preventing you from doing your job correctly.
Rylai's Crystal Scepter
Another good item to chase targets down. Provides a nice amount of health on the side, too. Consider this item if you really need to chase down a speedy target, but need some tankyness on the side too.
Boots of Mobility
Very nice item to get around the map really fast, although i'm not a fan of the new reduced movement speed whilst in combat. Consider this item if you get a couple of early kills, as it will allow you to roam the map with great speed.
Thornmail
Consider thornmail if the enemy has a lot of physical auto attack dealers.

Skills

Shadow Walk
This is Evelynns secret to being a god at ganking. You are invisible, and can only be spotted within 600 units of an enemy. There is a circle around your champion, which allows you to see how close you can get without being spotted. A red '!' will pop up to warn you if an enemy has seen you. This allows you to sneak past wards without being seen. The only way you can be seen is by a Pink Ward or an Oracles Lens. There is almost no counter to Evelynn, meaning against unexperienced players, you can create chaos in every lane.

On top of that, her passive grants her regeneration of her mana whilst she is invisible. Strong, am I right?
Hate Spike
This is her bread and butter skill. It hits the nearest enemy, which may take a little of getting used to at first. The cooldown on it is very low, meaning that your DPS is insane. Try to auto-attack in combination with spamming this ability to maximize your damage. Max this first.
Dark Frenzy
Grants movement speed on activation. When you go to gank the enemy, stay just outside their vision range of you, activate your W and massacre their face. On top of that, it resets whenever you get a kill or assist. This means you will be zooming around Summoners Rift, similar to Katarina's passive. You can kill a marksman, then zoom off before their team can even get near you. It's very useful with just one point, so there's no need to max it.
Ravage
Since the changes in which E was changed to physical from magic damage, her burst potential from this ability by stacking raw ability power has been significantly reduced. With this build, you will be building AD, therefore you will be doing quite a lot of mixed damage in a fight.
This ability does a large amount of burst, as well as give you a massive attack speed buff (120% at rank 5). I believe this is the largest attack speed buff in the game. It also resets your auto attack animation, so use it directly after you auto attack to maximize your damage output. Max this after Hate Spike
Agony's Embrace
An AOE slow, that does percentage damage and gives Evelynn a shield equal to the number of targets she hit. This is what makes her deadly in a teamfight. You can build quite squishy, whilst still being able to run through the enemy team with a possible 1.5k free health late game. Use this at the beginning of a fight, as it does CURRENT health % damage.

Champion Matchups

Elise
Difficulty
Favors Enemy
Elise can chunk you quite hard, but probably wont be able to kill you. With the new changes, Elise isnt quite as strong as she used to be. You don't really want to try and fight Elise within the early parts of the game though, as she will usually come out ahead.
Fiddlesticks
Difficulty
Favors You
Fiddle can't kill you. I doubt he will attempt any form of invade in your jungle. This should be an extremely easy matchup for you. Try to abuse this by stealing the second round of jungle buffs.
Khazix
Difficulty
Favors Enemy
Kha will give you a hard time. You can't really outdamage him, but you can easily get away with your W, as it removes all slows. Avoid being isolated when in a duel with Kha. However, since a lot of Kha's are leaning towards maxing R or E first over Q, your world should be a little bit easier.
Leesin
Difficulty
Favors Enemy
There isn't many 'matchups', as you are in the jungle. I will go over some junglers that may give you a hard time though.

Currently (4.5), Lee Sin is a menace. He will kill you in a straight up during the early game. He can easily counter jungle you, with little to no risk. Probably the most annoying thing to have to face. If you ever meet a Lee Sin in the jungle, try to juke out his Q. His Q allows him to chase and do significant damage. If you can somehow avoid it, you should live.
Masteryi
Difficulty
Favors You
Pre-6 you will outdamage the Yi. However once he starts getting some stacks on the Feral Flare (which he will most likely itemise), be careful. His ult will negate any slows you put on him, allowing him to chase you down. But in terms of counter jungling threats, Yi wont be much of a problem.
Olaf
Difficulty
Favors Enemy
Quite annoying. Don't allow Olaf to get within auto attack range of you, otherwise his E will chunk you down. Wait until he throws an Axe at you, the active your W to remove the slow and make your escape.
Pantheon
Difficulty
Favors Enemy
Pantheon is similar to Lee Sin. He can kill you pretty easily, although you should be able to escape easily with your W. Panth will find it hard to chase an Eve down.
Shaco
Difficulty
Favors Enemy
Don't die. Thats about all the advice I can give on this one. Try to secure one of your buffs and get ahead by ganking. Fighting Shaco early will result in your death, due to his insane early game damage. However once you build up a few items, he shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Shyvana
Difficulty
Favors Enemy
Shyvanna will outdamage you and outclear your jungle. Avoid any engagements with her.
Udyr
Difficulty
Favors Enemy
Udyr will mess you up. He basically has a permanent movement speed buff, and it is very difficult to get away from him. Combine that with insane burst on his Q , and he will kill you. There isnt much you can do either, other than avoid him.

Early Game

The early is game is Evelynn's strong and weak point. If she gets her buffs stolen in the jungle, she will be set behind. It's difficult to come back from that, and is something you desperately want to avoid. But her early ganks are supreme. Combine that with her invisibility, and she can really tear apart an unorganized team.

Your jungle route should be Blue > Wraiths > Red > Gank. By the time you kill Wraiths, you will have gotten your smite back up to help with red. Evelynn is EXTREMELY squishy in the jungle, especially with the very offensive masteries and runes. You will probably chug through all your potions during your first clear.

Ganking with Evelynn is pretty easy. Due to her ability to be fucking invisible, she creates massive amounts of map pressure. Teams have to invest money into pink wards. Sneak up behind the enemy, and stay outside their vision range. Try not to waste your W early within a gank. If you can sneak up behind an enemy, then save your W until they start to run. Therefore, if they flash, you can catch up to then very quickly. Also, try to get as many auto-attacks in as possible.

Once you build up an item or two, her jungle clear is very fast. You can contest the enemy junglers buff's at around 7 minutes, which will help you to snowball. It's probably best to keep the blue buff to yourself, unless the mid laner is desperate for it, or they are snowballing. Blue buff gives Evelynn cooldown reduction and mana regeneration, which is too good to miss on her.

With the changes to dragon, you may find difficulty in soloing it pre 15 minutes, so be careful if you ever make any attempts on dragon.

Mid Game

Eve is actually quite powerful in the mid game with this build. Hexdrinker allows her to soak up some burst damage from any AP sources. Her ult allows her to force fights on key targets. Try to position yourself behind the enemy team when you group up. This will cause quite a bit of chaos within the fight, and it will give you brilliant positioning on their key targets, such as the ADC.

Around the 30 minute mark, Eve will drop off a little bit in power until she starts grabbing some end game items. Be careful of your limitations, and avoid getting caught out. Use that invisibility to the best of your ability.

Late Game

Eve in the late game really shines. She can sprint after a squishy target with ease, doing massive amounts of damage. Similar to the mid game, try to sneak behind the enemy team with your invisibility, and attack from the rear. The chaos it can cause within a teamfight is insane. Avoid running into a team head on. Whilst you will be tanky/bruiser with this build, you don't want to take focus from too many enemy champions. The ult and your items can only do so much, so use your stealth and ability to chase down targets to your advantage.
