Introduction

With the new changes that came with the preseason 4, champions such as Shaco became stronger for several reasons.

Runes

A well played Shaco creates hudge pressure by constantly pushing lanes and backdooring. It is really up to the player to know when to go for a well timed backdoor or to stick with the team.

Shaco's middle and late game rely on sucessfully ganking the lanes at the early stages of the game. This is why the only viable masteries setup is 21-9-0., so that it gives him great damage without affecting negatively his jungle path.

Summoners

Despite the nurfs that were intented to reduce the early game power of ignite ( now that it scales on game time and no longer on champion level), it is still, in my opinion, the most effective summoner for Shaco's playstyle.
Smite & Exhaust
Exhaust is still a viable option for Shaco's kit. Even tho they nurfed the summoner spell iteself, it can really be useful against champions that have hudge burst potential.
Smite & Ghost
Ghost can also be a good pick. They made it way stronger by changing the mouvement speed bonus from additive to multiplicative so it can be really efficient when the opposing team has champions with tremedous escape mecanisms.

Shaco doesn't need a lot of substain to effectively clear his jungle. This is why Doran's blade is a strong pick because of the 80 health that it provides along with some lifesteal. Long sword can also be considered most likely when you feel like your ennemies will be hard to gank and your planning on getting your items ASAP. (Hydra being your first core-item) The boots start is mostly for invading an ennemy's buff early into the game, for example after clearing your blue. However, Shaco is really strong with double buffs, starting with boots may make him a little weaker for his crucial early gank. (this is why you should consider the two other starting builds.
Final Build(s)
Standard Final Items
Mobility and damage are the main tools Shaco needs to pressure objectives and to backdoor. When Trinity force and Zephyr are completed, Mobility boots can be sold for Mercury's Treads or Ninja Tabi depending on the opposite team.
Build Order
After level 1 boots and dorans blade, Vampiric scepter is a good pick up for more substain/damage. Then, you really want to build Tiamat ASAP and to upgrade it into Ravenous Hydra. It exploits the strenghts of the Champion incredibly well and it's a big part on his core items.

Situational Items

Maw of Malmortius
This item can be used against a heavy magic damage team.
Banshee's Veil
Banshee's is a good alternative to Guardian angels depending on the opposite team abilities. It is normally stronger then GA middle game (should not be built early game). Also, it is often used as a replacement of GA when it has been popped and when you are full build.
Statikk Shiv
This can replace Trinity Force when you are struggling at getting gold. It is cheaper and it's still a viable choice.
Phantom Dancer
This item can be effective when you position yourself into focusing the ennemy carries. Thus, it maximises the damage you can put out combined with infinity's edge.

Use (W) to tank the jungle camps while your hitting them in the back to emplify shaco's damage.

Skills

Backstab
Always try to hit targets in their back to maximise Shaco's damage.
Deceive
Deceive has a tricky animation that can reveal your incoming gank if it's not used correctly. Try to use it so that the ennemy player won't see the animation of your Q. For example, landing it into a bush or where the opposite team don't have vision on you.
Jack In The Box
Try as much as you can to make the boxes tank while you're attacking the creeps behind their back to utilize Shaco's passive.
Two-Shiv Poison
Great tool for ganking the lanes. Make sure you use it to clear the jungle camps faster, especially when you have a blue buff.
Hallucinate
This spell offers a great pressure in terms of accomplishing objectives such as killing towers, dragon and baron. Also, it can be used to dodge a skillshot if it's well timed. When Shaco uses Hallucinate he becomes untargettable for a spit second which allows him to dodge a specific skillshot.

Could you give a specific explanation on why trinity force and ravenous hydra are good on shaco? My build in s3 usually look something along the lines of Elder lizard->mobility boots->statikk shiv->blade of the ruined king->Infinity Edge->last whisper. I'd just like to know the advantages of your build in comparison to one along the lines of mine, Id really appreciate it!
