Introduction

Amumu is a fairly easy champion to play that is still a lot fun. Built tanky with magic pen, he can deal tons of damage while being a beefy threat in the backlines of the opposing team. Amumu is the ideal champion for wombo combo team comps and team comps that lack magic damage.

Runes

Marks- Amumu does all magic damage except for his auto attacks. Having magic pen marks gives his early jungling a small boost, and allows him to penetrate through his enemies resistance once he builds a few items

Seals- typical armor seals meant to give durability to Amumu to help him survive and stay healthy in early jungle

Glyphs- flat MR helps Amumu stay healthy in early ganks and avoid dying from jungle fights due to his weak early game

Quints- flat AP allows Amumu to deal significantly more damage early to clear the jungle camps, and it provides a compensation for his weak early game that allows him to better transition into his mid game dominant phase

I run 9/21/0 with the new pre-season 4 masteries on Amumu. This set allows me to have a bit extra defense in the early game and adds value to Amumu's weak start. The 21 in defense also allows Amumu to transition into mid game as a tank getting in the enemy's face. I run 9 points in offense that add to Amumu's overall value, including a bit of extra damage early game, CD reduction for all levels, and some AP at lv 18 to keep Amumu's damage going into the late game.

Summoner Sets

Smite & Flash
I run the traditional smite and flash combo on Amumu. Smite is self-explanatory for a jungle, and flash allows me to pursue early kills, escape from bad situations, and position for an effective ultimate in team fights.

Pretty standard starting build for the majority of season 4 junglers. Allows Amumu to deal extra damage early in the jungle and stay healthy. The warding trinket is the most useful of all the trinkets currently for a jungler
Final Build(s)
Standard Final Items
This is a pretty standard and effective build on jungle Amumu that makes him into a tanky threat that also deals tons of damage through magic pen, and damage per second from his W and sunfire cape procs. It can be easily switched up, however. If you want more of a damage build you can include the Spectral Wraith spirit item, and zhonya's instead of randuins. If you want more durability you can keep the ancient golem spirit item, include ninja tabi or merc's treads instead of sorc's shoes, remove abyssal scepter for spirit visage or banshee's veil, and remove void staff for any desired finishing item, such as Frozen Heart or Thornmail.

Amumu is a very flexible champion in the sense you can spec his build any way you want. I like this build because it makes him very tanky and allows him to still deal tons of damage.

Pretty standard spell spec for Amumu. W and E can be traded out level 1 depending on which you prefer as they lead to the same start. E allows Amumu to stay a bit more healthy, while w clears the level 1 camp slightly faster. Bandage toss can be finished 2nd if you are building more flat AP damage, a build which I do not strongly recommend.

Skills

Cursed Touch
Lowers MR of target from basic attacks
Bandage Toss
Amumu's gap closer, single-target long ranged skill shot. Scales well with AP and should be maxed 2nd or 3rd based on the build you're trying to go
Despair
Deals a % of health of the enemies each second that scales with magic damage. This ability rips enemies apart when combined with the effects of sunfire cape.
Tantrum
Passively reduces physical damage Amumu takes, this is effective versus early jungle camps and should always be maxed first on jungle Amumu to clear the camps as quickly as possible
Curse of the Sad Mummy
Amumu's signature spell. Snares every enemy in a large AOE spot and deals a good amount of magic damage

Early Game

Focus on staying alive in the jungle and if at all possible securing the level 1 blue. Do your best to farm to 4 and 6 where you can actually convert a gank into a kill.

Mid Game

Focus on getting tanky enough to survive in teamfights

Late Game

Focus on catching as many enemy champions as you can in your ultimate and then peeling for your carriers OR locking down the enemy's carries based on what your team needs.

Teamfights

Similar to late game strategy, focus on utilizing your ultimate and Q to the maximum potential and absorb as much of the enemy's damage output as you can

Conclusion

Amumu is one of my favorite champions in the game. Has has been around since the beginning of LoL, and is still viable in all levels of play!
