Introduction

Howdy,
Welcome to my first ever Mobafire guide,
Today, we're focusing on the champion Orianna.
Before we go on, Orianna is a difficult champion to play, and if you are looking for something easy I recommend you not to read on or even attempt Orianna.
Anyways, as I was saying, Orianna takes time and effort to master, especially as the new S4 Patch has made Summoners Rift a paradise for AP Mids.. When fed, Orianna can carry whole teams on her back and does tons of damage. (PHREAK I LOVE YOU <3) In Mid-Late game, one good ball placement and Command: Shockwave can turn the tides of a cra**y game.
I personally like Orianna for her burst, kite potential, survivability and the things she can do with engaging champions like Rammus, Zac, Jarvan IV, Lee Sin and many more.
Please, take time and read my Short guide, I hope you enjoy it, and if you did like it please take time to upvote my first guide.
Happy Reading :)
-Leech

Runes

These runes are pretty much personal preferences, though some people like to swap out the mana regen seals for armour seals. The Magic Pen runes give extra damage output and help alot if you don't have enough time/gold/inventory spaces for a void staff. The Mana Regen runes help alot in lane especially because chunking someone down with Orianna, is gonna cost quite alot of mana in the early levels. These regen runes help you keep chunking without having to B constantly or watch your mana bar.
The magic resist runes are just for the fact that you will usually be playing against AP Mids, though, if you arent I suggest you use the Heavy AD page. These magic resist runes will help you humongously and will save your life multiple times. People like against Orianna will shred through her, so, the magic resist will keep that little fish away :> And remember, if you are Orianna and fed 1-2 kills you will probably be carrying. These runes combined with an and a will let you tank more hits then usual and increase your survivability.

9 Utility
21/0/9 is an aggressive rune page for Orianna because she lacks defense. I think using the utility tree really helps Orianna with keeping Blue buff for longer or having an extra edge over your opponent with the mana Regen masteries instead of runes. This would then allow you to swap out Mana Regen seals for some extra Armor or AP. The Offense tree has 21 points. It's pretty standard for Orianna because of those percentage increases because of that extra AP and definitely because of the Arcane Blade combined with her passive, Clockwork Windup.

Summoner Sets

Flash & Ignite
I think the meta flash and ignite works very will with . With people like and who have a free escape, she needs to keep up if she has any chance of catching them. The ignite helps if you have no mana left or are in a 2v1 situation and need to get out quickly while securing a kill. Flash is also useful during Mid/Late game, it helps her initiate team fights or catch out an opposing carry. Although she can do all this I personally recommend you use it defensively instead of aggressively, this is because Orianna has no dash escape, just a speed buff.
Flash & Teleport
Okay, This is a tricky one. If you are used to , communicating with both lanes and are good with timing then yes I definitely recommend this summoner. But if you are not used to , I recommend you practice in a couple of draft modes or blinds.
Teleport allows you to get to other lanes quickly to change a 2v2 fight to a 3v2 or maybe even a 4v2 if you are speaking with your jungler. This could put other lanes in a massive advantage over the opposing lane and hopefully by mid/late game they should be stomping. Top lane especially, if you are Orianna and you have a tank that hasn't got enough gold for key items because he was smashed in lane, they're going to rip right through him and go straight for you.
Teleport can also be used defensively, by this, I mean use your to run into a brush and then quickly tp to safety. This is hard to explain but if calculated well, it could end up like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY2cCkBqTWc
Flash & Barrier
Swapping about for is pretty risky but also works in your favor. If you are prone to being caught out, brawling with fighters or even just knowing you're going to take quite a few hits, is for you. There's a reason take it, it's because they need to survive. You need to survive too. You are the carry of your team, not the AD, not the jungler, You. Your kit, especially your , can change games and if anybody should survive it has to be you. Even though you wont have in your lane the will still come in handy versus a DoT or high burst champ.
Flash & Cleanse
Although not a meta pick and you don't buy a , you should maybe think about taking cleanse. If you are against a heavy CC/AOE team and think you are going to be focused because you have a weak team, you probably don't want to take or .

Against AP, rush a . The mana regen and MR will help you quite alot in lane, combined with and you shouldn't be susceptible to ganks, deaths or even close calls. Take more then health pots if you can because your will tank most of the damage.
Final Build(s)
Standard Final Items
This is the main path build, provides tankiness with the , and by giving you HP, MR and Armour. The is also useful if you get caught out or need to dodge something like a or . The void staff gives you more magic pen to cut through tanks and the Rabadons is the cherry on the top with %AP Increase. The liandries also helps with killing hp tanks with its unique passive. The also helps with mr, gives some AP and the CDR is vital.
Remember to buy things like , and . These will all boost your peformance.
Don't be afraid to pick up some wards too, remember, with the new S4 patch, it's not only down to the support to ward.
Build Order
and the give an early game spike for . The hp allows her to tank more hits and the magic resist will give her ease in AP mid fights. I think the give her a massive advantage over anyone on their team, especially the AD as that is prime target.

Situational Items

Ninja Tabi
Simple. With the magic pen from the and , swapping for wont hurt the main build that much. These boots give much needed armour and again, against shredders will give a massive boost in lane. =)
Guardian Angel
This will give you bonus MR and Armour and will also give you a second chance if you are bombed on by an enemy . The extra armour is significant compared to or . The passive also helps if you are caught out and your team need to come and help you.
Deathfire Grasp
If you are finding that you are spamming with quite alot because your team doesn't have much poke, I recommend swapping an item for a because of its cooldown percentage and its high AP boost. This item also helps if your opposing laner is shredding your team because you cannot burst him down quick enough (not enough AP/CDR).
Nashor's Tooth
Alas, the has to be included. Against some s, I've been hit with high amounts of burst from her auto attacks. Why? This guy got a and it was shredding! He combined the stinger with and to calculate insane amounts of damage. The auto attacks themselves are pretty risky because you have to be in range to AA, risking you to threat of say, a and then a high burst combo. But alas, if they are scared of you and you are in range you could be a very big threat combined with AP.

Clockwork Windup
QCommand: Attack
WCommand: Dissonance
ECommand: Protect
RCommand: Shockwave
Maxing first will help with cool downs for positioning your ball while maximizing damage. Fountaining at the same time will help with cc'ing enemies, giving more versatility to the team and giving free escapes. is the least important because you shouldn't be taking many hits, your tank should. And as with every champion, level up as fast as possible.

Skills

Clockwork Windup
Orianna deals bonus magic damage that stacks after hitting the same target multiple times. Damage scales with Ability Power and therefore gets to be very powerful by the end of the game.
Command: Attack
This ability has a low cooldown of 3 seconds at level 5 and is the most basic yet powerful skill Orianna possesses. It is used to farm, scout, zone defense and harass.
Command: Dissonance
Is your team's best friend. It is extremely versatile due to the fact that it speeds up your team and slows down any enemy champions that walk through its field as well as damaging all champions in its immediate cast range of 250. Simply put, if an ally is being chased then all you have to do is cast this little beauty in front of them and they will be well out of danger.
Command: Protect
This ability will save lives. Period. Whether you are casting it on yourself or if you place it on an allied champion you will make a huge difference in the enemies score by denying them kills. with the active shield that it creates. The passive on this ability is also very nice because it essentially doubles your base Magic Resistance and reduces early game magic damage by about 54%.
Command: Shockwave
This Ultimate Is A Game Changer. Proper placement and Timing can and will turn a team fight you are losing into an Ace. Also don't forget that it will Disrupt an enemy's channeled ultimate! \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Back off Katarina, you aint got nothing on me!\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" Another fun fact, since it moves the enemy champions it will also unstealth Teemo so be sure to pay attention to where he stops!

Other Things. :)

I would do Champion Matchups but as it is my first guide I don;'t want to raise the bar too high so I do apologise. :P

Scouting.
can do this thing called 'scouting'. She uses to put her ball into brushes or places where enemies to come from. Scouting is very useful if you are split pushing with , trying to take a baron and having no wards or even just finding someone. The moves into a place, does damage and gives vision. Use this to your advantage and try to experiment.

Early Game

In the early stages of the game, you want to be harassing your lane opponent with as many auto attacks as you can, and once in a while maybe use a combo to chunk him/her that little bit more. As well as this you want to be farming consistently, if you have to choose between harassing your enemy or farm, go straight for the farm. Be prepared to even take counter harass whilst farming. It's that important. Farm wins games, not kills. (Don't quote me on that :9) Whenever you can and if you're strong enough, take wraiths and wolves. Your AOE and cc from Command: Attack, Command: Dissonance and Command: Protect can clear wolf and wraith camps quick enough for you to get back into lane and farm up the next wave of creeps, whilst harassing your lane opponent. As soon as you hit level 6 and gain Command: Shockwave, make sure you roam. You are the carry of your team, not that Caitlyn or that stupid rat, Twitch, All you! If anyone is going to change the game, make sure it is You! So make sure you fulfill your destiny and gank those lanes! Oh, that Renektons flaming? It's because you made your Jax snowball to hell on stomp on Renekton like a poor lil' alligator he is. Oh, that Jinx? Yeah she stopped causing havoc in Piltover 3 weeks ago after you kicked her *** with your ball. I can't stress enough how important it is to gank. A fed Orianna is a bad Orianna The early game potential of Orianna is unlimited and to this day I am still trying out different strategies.

Mid Game

In the middle stages of the game, you should indefinitely be roaming by now. If you can, try and keep track on the enemy Jungle's Ancient Golem buff. Blue helps Orianna a humongous amount and to starve it from your opposing laner is even better.
Try and force objectives! Orianna is great for harassing enemies at Baron Nashor and Dragon and can sometimes steal it (with a bit of practice) So be sure to stick around those two pits for the opportunity. You never know, that spike from that Baron Nashor steal could crush the enemy team.
I would also like to point out that, even though she has no definite escape, she is an excellent split pusher. If you place her ball in-between the caster minions and fighter minions, you can easily Q-W combo them and clear it in a few seconds. This is a massive gold income strategy and with Arcane Blade and Clockwork Windup, you can take down towers pretty quickly. Although, split pushing would mean the carry wasn't with the team and that.. that could be catastrophic.

Late Game

By now you should be consistently shoving out lanes and clearing out jungle camps, you'll need the gold for the damage you will be doing. Before team fights, try to harass the enemy with Q-W-E combos as they will take a lot of damage whilst your kit cool down being very low. You may be using a lot of mana/getting into dangerous positions but if this happens, pick up a blue buff and make sure your team is with you when you harass! Try to get your team to force team fights in the jungle or in tight paths because if the enemy team is bunched together, a good Command: Shockwave could easily Ace! them (Combined with teamwork of course ^^) Make sure you don't use your Command: Shockwave too late, nor too early. As I keep repeating, one good Shockwave and that's GGWP for the rest of the game.

Conclusion

Thank you so so so much for reading my guide, as it's my first guide I told myself i wouldn't go into extremely deep information packets so I apologise if you were thirsty for more. She's an awesome champion and I hope you appreciate her as much as I do. I am also going to put in YT clips and Images as soon as I get my primary pc back, so check back soon :)
If this all goes to plan I hope to make more guides in the future and maybe for a job if I'm lucky o.O
Thanks again, I love you all. If you liked this, please up-vote it!:D
