Introduction

This is going to be the AP Shen build for Season 4. AP shen might be seen as trolling but got many advantages since farming becomes really easy and you can give massive shields to allies with your ult. Most of the damage in this guide will come from his Q (vorpal blade) with maxed CD reduction and also a lot of damage from basic attacks.

Runes

These are my standard runes on many casters, i like having the extra armor when your up against AD-mids and i think that having magic pens as marks is a better choice than flat ap. Magic Pen Glyphs are really bad but a good option is to switch the flat AP - quintesses for Magic pen.

Standar AP-dmg in offense, defence with extra % hp because of the hp-scaling with passive and vorpalblade

For better roaming and lane presence as well as and having a good escape on the side with E.

No need for dorans ring because you got energy, and this gives you more potential to keep on building

Rylai's stacks really well with passive and Q and the slow leaves your lane open for easy ganks

Nashors gives attackspeed that scales with passive and lets you lifesteal with vorpalblade. it also gives yo 20% CD reduction + Masteries (5%) = 25%

Ionan Boots give 15% CD reduction 25+15=40-> Max CD reduction

Wit's end gives magic resist and gives further attackspeed, it also lowers their magic resist for the longer fights
Build Order

Lategame

Rabadon's Deathcap
Rabadons = More dmg, less HP
Randuin's Omen
Gives you hp and armor as well as an attackspeedslow and slow-active
Spirit Visage
Scales well with Q (More ""lifesteal"") Magic resist. Makes you a strong AP offtank combined with the Randuins.

E - Should not be prioritized, costs to much energy to be used frequently
R - should e picked as fast as possible for a strong roaming game

Ki Strike
More hp and AS -> more dmg
Vorpal Blade
More ap -> more dmg
More hp and AS -> more \"Lifesteal\"
Feint
More AP -> larger shield
AS while active ->passive triggers more often
Full CD reduction -> 0 sec cd
Shadow Dash
More AP - little more dmg
HP - needed if you are going to taunt 5 players ;)
Stand United
More hp - a huge shield

Early Game

Farm with basic and Q, take advantage to throw a Q on enemy from time to time.
Use W to evade some damage from pokes.
Taunt when the ganks are incoming, to taunt or to escape without flash

Mid Game

Farm, farm and farm. TP to the allies in need

Late Game

You might have a hard time with some longer fights against heavy tanks.

Teamfights

If going for a heavy dmg build - play as an assasin
If you are going the more tanky build, taunt as many as possible and rush carries in fights.

Conclusion

Fun champ to try out, can be really good if you do it right.

i found ap tank like a malphite or amumu or vlad build to work best for him so like deathcap rylai's and liandry's with thornmail ( if against fed or heavy AD) ninja tobi's and an iceborn gauntlet or whatever the situation calls for
