Introduction

AD Lux is just a big suprise like AD kennen, she has her own value in a team although no one was interested.
Why playing Lux as the AD carry?
The reason is simple.Super strong early laning and ganking.

If you have a support with stun to lane with you (taric or leona), your damage output is insane.
Imagine an AD carry can have slowing people ability, a 2second bind and a burst ultimate like graves' Ult at the same time, this is ridiculously strong that even stronger than Ashe.

Lux's Attack damage : 50 (+3.3/lvl)
Ashe's Attack damage :46.3 (+2.85/lvl)


Lux's AD per level and base AD is good, if you can have bounus ad from runes and masteries.
You can have 82ad at level 1 ( Ashe just 77ad@Lv1).

I started to play Ad Lux since her auto-attack missle speed is buffed.
V1.0.0.123:
  • Updated Lux's autoattack to feel more responsive and increased its missile speed.

In my opinion, Lux is like AD version of LeBanc that really need you to dominate your lane early.
In late game your output is less compare to Graves and Sivir.
SO you need to outfarm your enemy for the maximum value of existence.

The Pros and Cons between AD and AP lux:

AD lux

Pros:
  • You can have a burst damage on a ad carry (like graves)
  • You can have a continuous damage output that AP Lux cant.
  • Strong cc ability
  • You dont need mana to farm

Cons:
  • In late game you are less efficient than normal ad carry
  • Need mana control (not to spam it)
  • attack speed per level does not scale too good.

AP lux

Pros:
  • Burst damage
  • Same as ad lux

ConS:
  • Mana thirst
  • Cooldown time is long that you cant do continuous damage
  • Worst AP carry of all time

Masteries

Explanation: normal AD carry masteries, 21/9/0.




Why not 21/0/9 ?

Because you dont need that mana regen bounus if you save your mana for engage.
You have to remember one thing that you are the AD carry not the AP Lux anymore,
dont spam your skill like AP Lux.

Also, that 30 bonus hp from 21/9/0 is really useful for hp trading,

S3 masteries

Since pre-S3, the calculation of the penetration has been modified. It count % penetration first, then followed up by flat penetration, 8% of armor pen and magic pen would really help for executing enemy.
Besides, the cool down reduction and a little ability power are useful in the whole game phases.

Why we dont need 9 points on defense tree anymore?

Because now we max W after Q so we dont need defense masteries.

Runes

Explanation: Use 15 ad runes for last hit.

15ad runes can let you farm those creeps under tower very easily.

Why dont use armorpen runes?

Because armpen is useless that you cant really pen much since
almost all of the support characters have their armor buff skill.
And your skills are magic damage, you should not use armor pen runes.

Summoner Spells



Explanation:Ignite is always good for burst damage champions.

Spells you can consider:


Generally you dont need exhaust or ghost because you have a 2s of bind and a slowing skill.

Spells not to take:



Skills and Skills order

Passive: Illumination
Lux's damaging spells charge the target with energy for 6 seconds. Lux's next attack ignites the energy, dealing 20-190 (depending Lux's level) magic damage to the target.

Explanation:
This passive is the reson why ad lux is viable, you can proc extra magic with auto-attack if any of your skill hit your enemy. The damage is just like you brought a BF sword or you got a leona's passive. It is an insane passive for an ad carry.






Q: Light Binding
Lux releases a sphere of light that binds and deals 60/110/160/210/260 (+70% ap) damage to up to two enemy units, dealing 50% effect to the 2nd unit struck.

Cooldown 15/14/13/12/11 seconds
Cost 60 / 75 / 90 / 105 / 120 mana
Range 1000


Explanation:
A 2second bind is a beast for an ad carry since no ad carry has a hard CC skill before 6, this is a retarded skill for early game phase because you can just bind and kill , seems we dont need further explanations.

Land after taric's stun @Lv2 will be an ensure kill.
Land after leona's combo @ lv3 will be an must kill.

Why max Q first: You do need the cooldown reduction to make more engage chance. And, Q is the highest damage skill of lux, R is not in count.

***Dont waste this skill if you cant really sure you can land it. This skill can save you from tower dive or chasing.






W: Prismatic Barrier
Lux throws her wand to a target location and back, bending the light around herself and any friendly Champions it touches, protecting them from 60 / 85 / 110 / 135 / 160 (+30% ap) damage for 3 seconds.

Cooldown 14 / 13 / 12 / 11 / 10 seconds

Cost 75 mana

Range 1000


Explanation:
A skill that save you from ignite or mord's ult, level it once at Lv4 if enemy has ignite. And we generally maxing this skill after Q.

You dont really need this shield if you can land your bind and slowing skills with 99% accuracy.








E: Lucent Singularity
Fires an anomaly of twisted light to an area, which slows nearby enemies. Lux can detonate it to damage enemies in the area of effect.

Cost 70 / 85 / 100 / 115 / 130mana
Range 1100


Explanation:
Slowing enemy for ensure kill, you can use it to farm too.(just simply put an E on the backside creeps and three auto attacks, happy farming!)
Q and E combo can let you proc your passive twice in 2second.






R: Finales Funkeln
After gathering energy, Lux fires a beam of light that deals 300/400/500 (+75% ap) damage to all targets in the area.

Cooldown 80 / 60 / 40 seconds

Cost 100 / 150 / 200 mana

Range 3000


Explanation:
Super strong ultimate that deals 300 at lv6, beast!

lv6 combo can let you proc your passive three times, it is a must kill if you landed your Q.



***Lux's skills have a good base damage output that you dont even need to build AP for her.


Skill order:R>Q>W>E

Explanation:
You need the cooldown reduction of your Q for engage,so max it first.
W is useful against burst matchup like graves corki, max second.
E is useful for kiting, max last. We generally use E for passive proc, just one point is enough.
R first, no doubt.





Concept of different roles

Burst: Deals huge amount of damage in few seconds.

Poke: Strong kiting abilites.

Sustain : Recovers health continuously.

AP Lux is Burst , she can bring down those Sustain characters easily.

But AD lux has the role of sustain and burst at the same time.

Bot Lane Major Enemies



Explanation:He has a burst dmage that keep you away from farm and an attack speed buff for dueling .

**You dont have to worry much if you have a taric or alistar with you. Gank more and you can win.
***Dont let him outfarm you, you cant beat him if he has 20 or above cs more than you has.



Explanation: She has a super strong chasing ability and a poke damage.

**Keep distance and farm , wait for gank.



Explanation: You can beat ashe easily.

***You can totally beat ashe since you have much much more damage compare with her.



Explanation: Although she has a zoning ability, you can win her with stong engage.

***Dont let her push too deep, you will be zoned.



Explanation: Dont play AD against this champion, you will lose.

***She has a spell shield that you cant bind her or use your ultimate on her. Maybe you can win her while her mana is used up or her E is on CD.



Explanation: Engage more you will see the chance.

***Dont really fight him face to face. you need to keep distance when he use W is dive in.

Early Game Laning

You can take your jungler's doublegolem if he dont really need it. ( if you are blue side ) (@1:40)

You can hide in the brush for a level 1 engage. ( if you are purple side) (@1:55)


Ward the brush near your enemy's side and bind their support for kill at lv2(with taric)/lv3(with leona) after your support engaged (once you have Q and E) OR even call jungler early gank if they dont have a ward on the river.

If you get first blood you can continue farming or back home. (see how much health you left)
If you can outfarm your enemy that means you already succeed.

If you enemy build armor so hard , you can build a sheen for extra damage output.

You should have 80cs @ 10minutes normally.

After 10minutes there will have chances for dragon teamfight. ( If they know you are doing it.)

***your goal is to poke or burst your enemies support with engage. Punish your enemies when they poke your support.

Mid Game

You are supposed to have OR
(@20:00-25:00)

Your damage is now pretty insane, you can put down your bot lane enemies easily.If you are on blue side, remember to take your red buff for dominating your bot lane.

You should use "Hit-and-Run" this technique to dodge skill shot and aoe skills.

Hit-and-run: Explanations: This technique is simple - 1 hit, 1 step backward. It can prevent skillshots like 's Q , 's Q and 's Q etc.

As an ad carry you need to always change your position<- this is your main goal.

After 25minutes, you should get one or two dragons and some heads if you are doing good.
You should have one to two core items mentioned above.

The game phrase is now turning to late game.

***If you cant really find the chance to engage, just farm and harass your enemies until they take any of aggressive actions.

Late Game

At around 30:00 to 40:00, enemies would stack armor so hard usually.

If your enemies has strong armor stats, you need last whisper

IF your enemies has no armor stats, you should buildOR another.

In late game phrase, your goal is to follow your teamates to steal enemies buff with your Binding skill(your Q) and joining every single teamfights as possible as you can.(What should you do in teamgiths? -> check out teamfight goal)

You can always turn a match if you landed your Q on the right person.

If you can carry your team, you will see the victory at around 30-40minutes.

Dragon and Baron

When to do dragon?
1. Your Bot lane enemy retreat even they have a ward.
2. They have no ward. let jungler solo it.
3. Jungler is ganking top, and bot is raped so hard.

What should we do before doing dragon?
1. Put ward on the right side of the mid-lane and triangle position in bot lane.
2. Rape your bot lane enemies.
3. Think of any threat b4 doing it.(be wise, always.)

When to do Baron?
1. When your team scored an ace, with enough hp and armor.
2. Enemy is pushing bot lane.
3. Enemy is doing dragon.
4. You have enough hp and armor to tank the damage (baron has 600ad)

What should we do before doing Baron?
1. Put ward on the postion showed on the pic.
2. Start a teamfight and win it.
3. Buy oracle to clear enemy wards on baron.

Teamfight Goal

What should you do in a teamfight?
1. Bind the one chasing you ( An ad carry's goal is keep himself alive.)
2. Use E to slow and zone enemies/ usful for kiting.(your E is pretty slow, you can hit-and-run to poke)
3. Use ultimate on enemy who is being CCed. (epic ultimate lazer)

***Do not ever ever dive your enemies as an ad carry <- This is the most retarded thing that most of the noobs like to do.

Final Comments

I know this play style might not fits to anyone, but it's just other play style that is potential to be tested. For those haters, I think you should not deny this play style when it just published. You should test it just right before you dislike this guide.

Yea to be honest, I think it's pretty hard to ask your team to let you play ad lux in a ranked queue or even a normal game queue. Whenever they deny you, please tell them there is a AD Lux guide existed on solomid.net.

Feedback Highlights

Dusk Legion: Been trying this concept, kinda awesome. I myself prefer maxing shield first though after 1 point in snare and slow. Totally catches people off guard in 1on1 duels.

thresholden: I like the idea. One suggestion is to level W over E first. Getting all offense till level 6 makes sense for burst however afterwards getting W over E or even Q makes a lot of sense to me.

W has a static mana cost, lower cooldown per rank while also helping to win HP trades. W isn't good against burst but is great against sustain damage which AD carries do.

E meanwhile has a static cooldown, and increased mana costs. Since you are playing Lux AD, you can last hit without spells. Increased mana costs only means you can't proc Lux's passive as much.

Leveling Q over W makes a bit more sense due to its lower cooldowns per level, though getting W over Q wouldn't be bad either. Her shield is best mid-game.

Just remember that Tristana only has one ability to help her attacks too; and she is one of the best AD carries out there. Back to Lux though, her passive is flat magic damage so that's just as good. Yet when you are auto attacking a lot it's a bit better. Just remember though Lux has a sh*t ton of utility too which really makes her shine.

I've found out so far that Taric is the best support for Lux. That stun is the snowball for a massive amount of damage. With his armour buff and your shield too, they'll be chipping your hp while you're chunking theirs. By the time their jungler comes to gank, their bot lane champs will be too weak to fight.

Moral: Try it before you jump to conclusions and always play the (logical) unexpected ways. It makes things much more fun and it's how the metagame changes.

no ad scaling skills is kind of wasting lux's ability , her low cd on ability

moreover, if the early game crashed so hard you def cannot keep going with ad lux cause ad lux cant do shit in late game

the reason kennen can going to be a ranged ad are

1 great harredment in lsning

2 endless energy

3 ad scaling abi

lux got problem in the sustain of mana . if enenmy go for sustain supporter , harres with limited mana will def making lane difficult

ps: comparing with ashe is kind of fake

Problem with AD lux is that it is worse then other AD carrys.

1. No AD scaling abilitys.

2. useless skills; No good burst without AP. You might as well go support lux.
