The Introduction

Thanks for Viewing my Guide, hit me up sometime and we'll play a game.
This is my first guide, but Akali is my bread and butter, I never ever loose a solo lane, I always take advantage of the opponents weakness when soloing against them.


Akali, is in my eyes, one of the biggest game changers in this game if used correctly. Akali has one of the best burst damage outputs in the game; however, she is easily countered with an oracle or vision ward. I usually mid Akali, because after she hits 6 it is impossible for most other champions in the game to compete with her in mid lane. Akali can easily control or sustain her lane due to her passives and her stealth. Due to this Akali gets banned in ranked games quiet often. If you can snowball early, then it is nearly impossible for the oposing team to stop you.

Hybrid? - She is an Ability Power champion.Riot maybe intended for her to be a hybrid champion, even with her suggested item build, but this is not really that true all of her skills are scaled to ap, ; however is the only one(besides her basic attack that is scaled ad) but even it has ap damage.

Burst Damage or DPS? - Akali is a massive burst damage champ, not an auto attacking melee DPS champ, so she should be built to focus on that. She could arguably have the highest burst damage of all champs, with her damage bursts rolling in waves that repeat more frequently than other burst damage casters like Kassadin, Ryze, or Annie. Never ever confuse her with an auto attacking melee DPS monster like Jax/Yi/Tryndamere.

Top Lane: (Shoes based on heavy AD champs)

With the above build, You have outrageous sustain in top lane, even Vs. a heavy ad champ like Garen/Renekton

Mid Lane: (Shoes based on heavy AP/CC)

The above build can be Switched, if not a lot off CC mid instead of Banshees Veil grab
Deathcap.


Starting Items for both Top/Mid:

This may sound dumb starting with 5 health pots, and 4 sight wards, but your Sustain is outrageous!!

In a top lane you can out-sustain anybody you lane agasint.

On your 1st time back in a top lane grab: (This allows you for even more sustain) and NEVER FORGET TO BUY . Grab boots and your 2nd time back then eventually grab: depending on if you are snowballing or not.

-Season 3 Deatails-

Well now that Season 3 is now out, with a new assortment of items and some item changes.

Biggest change to help you, is that oracle only lasts 5 minutes now.
I still stick with the same item build for the most part, liche bane doesn't give you magic resist now, which is very crappy if you ask me.

The same build is still situational if you ask me.

got reduced from 350 to 325.

Depending on what the other team is building based on if they are ap heavy or ad heavy is what you wanna base your build on.

The new items will allows your opponents to deal greater amounts of damage duo to the new items and some of the upgrades to them.

  • Boot Upgrades

All Tier 2 boots can now be upgraded further with an enchantment for a gold cost - All Tier 2 boots share from the same pool of enchantments.

Enchantment - Alacrity: Increases Movement Speed by 15.
Enchantment - Furor: Dealing damage to a champion with a single target attack or spell grants you a movement speed boost that decays over 2 seconds.
Enchantment - Distortion: Your Ghost, Teleport and Flash cooldowns are reduced by a percentage.
Enchantment - Captain: Allied champions moving towards you gain a movement speed boost. Additionally, nearby allied minions gain a large movement speed bonus.
Enchantment - Homeguard: Being at fountain instantly restores your health and mana. Additionally, you gain a very large movement speed boost that decays over 8 seconds. This passive is disabled if you are in combat.



Gold adjustments

Ambient gold gain increased to 16 per 10 seconds from 13 per 10 seconds - gold gained from farming lane minions and jungle monsters have been slightly reduced to compensate

Kill Streak bonus now caps at 500 Gold, down from 600 Gold.
Kill Streaks and Death Streaks now accelerate faster by roughly 50%.

Example: A player with a 4 kill streak will be worth 500 gold - compared to before which required an 8 kill streak.

Example: A player with a 4 death streak will be worth 126 gold - compared to before which required a 6 death streak.

  • Akali was designed by Coronach.

  • In Japanese, Akali is read as Akari (明), which means "Light, Bright, Cheerful" in contrast to her title, "The Fist of Shadow".

  • In Sikhism, Akali is a word that is used for referring to someone or something that is "Divine".

  • Akali was one of the champions chosen for the Ionian pool available during the Ionia vs. Noxus match.

  • However, she was not one of the selected champions.

  • Akali's ultimate, Shadow Dance, was originally a skill shot rather than the point-and-click skill.

  • Akali carries a pair of kama into battle.

  • Akali excels at killing weaker characters. Let your team initiate and then strike at the people in the back.

Akali Strengths: Trying to 1vs1 a low health opponent(Squishy) is almost a sure kill.


CONS:
  • Akali is a very squishy champion
  • No crowd control.
  • Stuns, Snares, Silences will destroy Akali.
  • Struggles in 5vs5 team fights. (Because most likely she will get focused)

Akali Weakness: A tank with Oracles in an organized team fights. If that happens Akali has a hard time trying to help in team fights.

These two changes are intended to give Akali's kit some utility. With now granting vision where it's placed, Akali can perform interesting jungle and lane jukes by first casting Twilight Shroud to gain vision of an enemy or jungle monster, and then using Shadow Dance as an escape tool. Overall, it should be a cool little trick that adds some depth to this ability.

Now grants vision in the area of effect.

Essence of Shadow charge time reduced to 30/22.5/15 seconds from 35/25/15.

As Akali players know, you needed a dedicated runepage to activate both passives. Riot removes this factor from the equation making Akali more accessible and, ultimately- more generic. Read these changes as a BUFF, because it does mean you can raise other stats with your runes and masteries now.

Masteries

Explanation:
For my masteries, I run 29 Offense with 1 Utility Masteries, simply because the bonus ad damage and ap damage on the offensive side, and for the life-steal and overall damage for Akali's passive skills. If I'm going more for an ap and magic pen I would simply run a few in ad just enough to get the Arcane Knowledge effect(for the 8% magic penetration) and the rest in the utility.
Set up Akali's masteries they way you can utilize some of her passives, for instance get Summoner's Wrath, while her ignite is on cooldown its a great way to gain 5 ability power and 5 attack damage.

Note: I always make sure to have Arcane Knowledge for the 8% Magic Penetration, and the Weapon Expertise for the 8% Armor Penetration

Note: The reason I take 1 in utility is for the extra movement speed when roaming to other lanes for ganking ability.

You can change your masteries around for certain lanes, but I usually always run these.

Runes(Different ones to Run, and why)

Explanation:
-I have 3 Different sets of Rune Pages set up for Akali-

Recently I've been activating her passives in the rune page for her sustain mid, but when top agaisnt a wukong I still set them up for more armor, that way I can take more damage, and not be so squishy. Activating your passives does help you, but don't expect a huge change in lifesteal, and your ability power. Akali's passives is amazing so activating them in your rune page allows you to do more damage and sustain with your passive lifesteal allows you to stay in a lane longer before you have to go back.

For my deffensive rune page I simply run flat attack MARk, ARMOR SEALS, ability power GLYPHS, and 2 ability power Quints, and 1 Attack damage Quint.

The seals may vary if you mid/top. If it is against a ad champ use armor, ability power champ use magic resist.


Incoming magic damage is multiplied by a factor based on the unit's magic resistance:



Examples:

■25 magic resistance → ×0.8 incoming magic damage (20% reduction).
■100 magic resistance → ×0.5 incoming magic damage (50% reduction).
■−25 magic resistance → ×1.2 incoming magic damage (20% increase).
Every point of magic resistance requires a unit to take 1% more of its maximum health in magic damage to be killed. This is called "effective health."

Example: A unit with 60 magic resistance has 60% of its maximum health in its effective health, so if the unit has 1000 maximum health, it will take 1600 magic damage to kill it.
What this means: by definition, magic resistance does not have diminishing returns, because each point increases magic durability by 1% whether the unit has 10 magic resistance or 1000 magic resistance.

Note: Unlike health, increasing magic resistance also makes healing more effective because it takes more effort to remove the unit's health than it does to restore it.

I use these Runes simply for this reasoning, people who you might solo against might have armor pen or magic pen. so by having the flat armor and magic resist, you are saving your champion from quick ults or bonus damage(if you have -armor or -magic resist)

Make her runes what is most useful for your lane, like if your going agaisnt a heavy ad get armor runes, same if you get a ap mid get ap runes. If your top against a not to strong opponent get flat damage and ability power runes, with some magic pen.

If you can snowball like if you vs Karthus mid or an easy top like garen, you can Set up your RUNE page to activate your passives, i usually run flat armor for top, then magic resist for mid, but when mid i still activate my lifesteal.

Akali other Rune Page
Set up your runes where all your passives will activate, this way you already have some sustain in your lane, but be careful you are Alot more squishy early on if you use this one, i recommend this one if your are agaisnt an easier solo lane.

Runes

x9 Greater Mark of Strength - Activates AD passive combined with Brute Force
x9 Greater Seal of Vitality - Extra health for survivability in all cases
x9 Greater Glyph of Potency - Adds damage to Q, E, R and helps activate Discipline of Force passive
x1 Greater Quintessence of Potency - Same as above
x2 Greater Quintessence of Fortitude - Extra early game survivability

This is the most efficient setup for activating both of Akali's passives at level 1 and having the most balanced survivability.

Summoner Spells



Explanation:
I run flash and ignite on akali, the reasoning is, the flash for easy escape. Akali's twilight shroud plus flash makes it easy for her to evade from danger in any situation. I use ignite for mid, because igniting a champion plus all of Akali's burst damage makes it hard for anyone to avoid dieing by her twin hooks/ult combo(Which to me is the best 1-2 in the game). Having a double flash is amazing, in this case you can use your , or your to out-run any champion in the game, which makes it impossible for most other champions to catch you.

You should always grab flash in my eyes because it helps you escape danger, which is a huge benefit. Staying alive = more gold and experience.

Skills

Passive: Twin Disciplines

DISCIPLINE OF FORCE: Akali's auto attacks deal 6% (+ 1% per 6 AP) bonus magic damage.
DISCIPLINE OF MIGHT: Akali gains 6% (+ 1% per 6 bonus AD) spell vamp.




Explanation:
Twin Disciplines is by far my favorite passive in the game, once built right you will do 100% additional magic damage plus an additional 25% life-steal, plus her spell vamp! This makes Akali a straight force in the game, because she can not only evade from danger, but heal herself instantly with her abilities.
Her passives activate automatically now, No need for runes or items, so this allows her for a totally different rune page for her lane. This makes akali that much more threatening in my eyes.




Q: Mark of the Assassin
ACTIVE: Akali throws her kama at a target enemy, dealing magic damage and marking the target for 6 seconds.

Akali's basic attacks or Crescent Slashes against a marked target will consume the mark, dealing additional magic damage again and restoring energy.

INITIAL MAGIC DAMAGE: 35 / 55 / 75 / 95 / 115 (+ 40% AP)
DETONATION MAGIC DAMAGE: 45 / 70 / 95 / 120 / 145 (+ 50% AP)
TOTAL MAGIC DAMAGE: 80 / 125 / 170 / 215 / 260 (+ 90% AP)

This is Akali's best skill in my eyes, simply due to the fact it does bonus damage to whoever is marked. If you hit someone with your Q, they will get the mark of assassin above their champions head, once you hit them while the mark is on them, Akali does bonus damage to the targeted champion.
The best way to utilize this is to mark an enemy champion with your Q, but don't instantly attack them, let your Q charge back up, once it does try hitting them then for the bonus damage and then using your Q and hitting them again, this way your getting double the damage output. When your ult is up no one can stop you in mid lane. First throw your W, while the enemy is near hit them with your Q, let it charge back up ult at them attack them then hit them with your Q again then ult. Using this technique is by far Akali's bread and butter. You can straight harass mid lane champions.

W: Twilight Shroud
ACTIVE: Akali creates a vision-granting smoke cloud in a 300-radius area for 8 seconds. While within the cloud, Akali is stealthed and gains bonus Armor and Magic Resistance. Attacking or using abilities reveals her for 0.65 seconds. Enemies inside the smoke are slowed.

Explanation:
Akali's twilight shroud is very underrated, but it helps Akali avoid danger and in team-fights it makes her untargetable for a 8 seconds. So during a team fight Akali can first be an assassin and jump and kill their ranged carriers, like ashe, ez, vieger, exc. Then she can throw her shroud to make it impossible for the enemy team to lock on her. While your shroud is up it slows anyone who walks through it so its great for escaping the enemy team as well. Her shroud has a long cool down so be careful when your using it. Note: you gain magic resist and armor while inside this shroud, therefor while inside of it, you take less damage.

Akali's as we all know makes it easy for to evade danger, but it also allows her to face-check bushes, or even to juke other enemy champions(If you are hesistant of going into a bush throw your shroud down to look inside of it so you avoid danger). Throwing your shroud at the right moment allows you 8 seconds to let them make the first move trying to find you, simply run in the other direction once they all run around trying to find what direction you went in. Akali's Shroud is oen of her best skills she uses in a solo lane, because she can get close enough to harass, or evade quickly from dangerous ganks.


E: Crescent Slash

ACTIVE: Akali flourishes her kamas, dealing physical damage and triggering any Marks of the Assassin on nearby enemies.
PHYSICAL DAMAGE: 30 / 55 / 80 / 105 / 130 (+ 30% AP) (+ 60% AD)

Explanation:
This is Akali's least useful skill in my eyes. This skill is great for farming and harassing once in your shroud to near by enemies, but this skill is a last resort if they are weak enough for you to kill them with your E then do it. This skill cost 60 energy and has a short cool down, but it wastes
importantly needed energy. You can use your Q and R and even your W to get away, but if you go wasting energy with your E, it sometimes can bite you in the butt.



R: Shadow Dance

ACTIVE: Akali uses an Essence of Shadow, dashing to and dealing magic damage to a target enemy. Akali gains an Essence of Shadow periodically, affected by cooldown reduction, up to a maximum of 3. Additionally, gaining a kill or assist will restore an Essence of Shadow.

Explanation:
Akali can run down almsot any champion in the game with this skill. If your land your Q on an enemy as soon as they try to run ult on them if they flash ult again, you can use this up to 3 times consecutively, if you get a kill or assist you get another Essence of Shadow right back, so in team fight Akali can burst down almost every single champion in the fight if she isn't the one being targeted. If your flash is up and they are faster than you flash on them land your Q then ult on them as many times as it takes, because you can usually burst down enemy champions who are fast and squishy like yi or other small quick champions in the game. Akali's R is an amazing combo with her Q just because you can catch almost anyone if your close enought to mark them with your Q. As soon as you hit lvl 6 in the game(When your mid lane) you can not only harass the other person mid, but you can control mid very easily with this skill. This skill makes Akali great for ganking as well.

Skilling Order

The reasoning behind the skilling order is because Akali's Q is very effective early game after you have marked something for the bonus damage it does once a target is marked. I always no matter what the situation get her W second simply because it keeps you safe from junglers and whoever you lanning against, its a great escape tool. I build my Q faster than any other skill, well besides my R, because of the bonus damage it puts out, after i get my W, I work on my E for easier farming.

Her also allows for more magic resist, and armor while inside of it, so getting your W second is actually helpfull to sustain more damage.

Different Item Builds For Different Situations

-Explanation-

When you are getting early kills, and you are already know that you are going to do amazing in mid/top lane, go ahead and buy snowball items to over whelm the enemy team. If i snowball early I immediately rush these 3 items:

I Build Akali Way Different than anyone I have ever seen before, but If you look at my match history with Akali, you will see the past 8 games i've been mid with her I went 139/26. My user name in LOL is TimeApart if you wanna see or play a game.

I first start out with or and , simply because early game I can stay in the lane and survive quit easily. After i farm up enough gold I go straight for, because Akali simply does an amazing amount of burst magic damage, but if your midding against a heavy ap carry who had gotten a kill due to a gank and is hitting pretty hard I would go for the to sustain some of the damage you might take. These shoes are a great way to reduce stuns and any other effects casted at your champion.
After the shoes there is one item that is a must for Akali, and if you get this item before most other enemy champions are not even lvl 6 then the game is already over, that item would be , because of its effects Akali's Q mixed in wither her R makes her do an Outstanding amount of burst damage. The sheen allows you(Once you've used a skill) to make your next basic attack to do bonus damage, More bonus damage? Akali simply demolishes anyone who you mid agaisnt or gank once she has her sheen, one of her best items you can buy. After the sheen I go for the , but I get the first for the spell vamp. The Hextech Gunblade allows Akali to stay in fights longer, because of all her passives being activated. You get spell vamp and life-steal for the Hextech, but her passives give you even more life-steal, which makes her almost impossible to kill by yourself. Akali's best item is no other than , this allows Akali to come completley hybrid once she has it. All of her ability power is converted to damage once she uses a skill.

-The slow allows it almost impossible for any enemy champion to outrun you.

1.Scepter and Hectech Revolver. $1200 + $3105 = $4305
80 ap, 15% spellvamp (Revolver), bonus 35% slow on Q and R, 500 HP.
Her spellvamp is 10%+15%=25%.

Combo: 0.9*(80+64)+521=651 damage.
Spellvamped: 651*0.25=163
Total health advantage = 163+500=663.


-The slow and damage makes it easier to chase down targets and kill them.

2.Gunblade. $3400
45 AD, 65 AP, 20% Spell Vamp, 12% Lifesteal, Bonus 300 magic damage and 50% 3 second slow every 60 seconds.

The 45 ad will give Akali 10% more spellvamp. With the item passive you will end up with 25+10+10=45% spellvamp and 12% lifesteal.

The above build is the build i've went 139/26 my past 8 games with, when I have been mid with Akali.

This item build allows you to sustain quiet a bit of damage, but also allows you to do pretty decent amount of burst damage to the squishy champions.

(Not only will this build allow you to sustain alot more longer, but with your lich ban plus rylias it makes it almsot impossible for them to outrun you, the merc treads andlich bane will help you with any magic damage or snares stuns or silence the might throw at your way. Guardian Angel plus Hourglass makes it Very difficult for them to even come close to ripping you apart.

Why yes, I love when it snows(When your snowballing)

When your SnowBalling(fed, killing at will)
  • Please end the game, because Akali isn't all power late game
  • Push the towers tower dive(if you kill at will)
  • Build tankier(Because you do enough damage already)
  • Build when you are fed, in case you do get focused you'll be fine.

When your NOT SnowBalling
  • Play patient like the assasin you truly are
  • Pick off the easy kills(Ranged Champions)
  • Late game oracles, Champions getting tankier will destroy you(so end it when your fed)


I've had games where i'll go 22/5, but not push or play aggressive and end up loosing because of my stupidity. When you are in fact snowballing try to be more aggressive and push the towers and end the game. You can't carry all game as Akali, unless you wait for team fights, and the other enemy team has used most of their ults on your team, then yes jump in and pick of low health enemies.

When you are snowballing it is impossible for the team to do anything early/mid game, but late game they get ALOT tankier and oracles is a must for them, so end the game while you can!

-How to succeed as akali-(not being countered)

If you have the 1st pick in a ranked game, try to trade with someone who has 2nd to last pick. Give them a high pick and let them trade with you, so the other team would not really expect you to akali mid or solo top.

When mid or top lane, if for some reason you do get Ganked and the person op is up a few kills and some cs, use your shroud to still cs minions(Unless the other person buys a vision ward or has oracle). Take your time, since they are more fed and can probably kill you faster than you can kill them. Buil akali in a way to counter them. Like if your against who is one of your biggest counters in the game, work on getting some armor like , this way even if he does manage to kill you, you can revive and still get away or finish the kill. If mid or top has a vision ward or an oracle you can still effectively win your lane, by throwing your Q at them waiting till it recharges up ult on them and hit them with your Q again, and then ulting out on top of an enemy minion, so you can avoid taking any damage from them at all.

If you know it will be difficult to solo against someone like garen or wukong who hti hard as heck, instead of getting and
Get and Instead so you can Sustain way longer against them, plus if your runes have flat armor you can very easily keep safe!

If you have the 1st pick remeber do not take akali, trade down with someone so the other team can't really counter her with only 1 pick left. This way your being safe and avoiding solong agaisnt a hard counter. Akali usually isn't a top 3 pick so trading with someone is fairly easy. I do this alot in ranked matches.

In your lane control it, but do not push it, so no ganks can come your way. If the person your soloing against is a bruiser like or Build more health and armor like: and to help sustain some of the damage the might afflict on you.

Who to Solo Against


Difficulty: Easy

Very easy to lane against, you can catch up to her with your ult, avoid her charm and early harassment damage to win your lane early on. Treads is an option here if your behind.


Difficulty: Medium

As long as you dodge her stun and avoid her harassment damage you should be able to farm, but she might try to zone you, if so grab treads and try to dodge her stun and burst her down after she uses it. be aware of her damage.


Difficulty: Medium

With annie be aware of when her stun is up, as long as you avoid her stun/burst damage early on and focus on cs, you can burst her down. Treads/Abysll is amazing against annie in lane.


Difficulty: Medium

His range/combos are really good against you, but as long as you can dodge his some of his moves, your fine. Keeping a safe distance and moving around a lot keeps him from hitting you and harassing you early on. After your ult comes you can burst him down a little, let him waste his combos, be sure to dodge.


Difficulty: Easy/Medium

With Cass, you need to avoid her damage first. Don't allow her to poison you and hit you with twin fang. When her ult comes up you can ult to her and turn where it will not stun you. You should burst her down then.


Difficulty: Easy/Medium

Cho has great cc ability and some might think its hard to lane against him, but dodge his knock up and silence farm, and when you get your ult you can dash to him and burst him. Don't go all out unless your fed, just harass him down.


Difficulty: Medium

I do well vs darius, because as long as you dodge his pull you can just Q him and ult him then back off. Don't let him combo you down or you'll get owned in lane phase. Harass with your Q and farm. You can win lane this way. If he builds tank MR then you'll need help from jungle.


Difficulty: Medium

I love facing diana in lane, because dodge her crescent move and you can burst her down then back off. Be aware of her shield and knock back, because they can crush you.


Difficulty: Easy/Medium

Elise has a stun, dodge this then ult on her burst her down then back off. Do this in lane over and over. You out burst her and out sustain with your life steal and spell vamp. Be aware of her spider form when she can jump.


Difficulty: Easy

Easy lane for you, dodge her early game harass and your fine. When you hit level 6 you own her in lane. Buy a pink ward to see where she tries to roam to, to help your team out.


Difficulty: Easy

Ez is annoying pre 6, but try to farm and don't let him zone you early on. When you get your ult, it's game on. You can dash to him and chase him down for the kill easily. His poke is his only thing early on.


Difficulty: Easy

For me fidd is useless after he uses his CC spells, you can just burst him down so fast. Avoid his fear/drain damage. Treads is your best friend in lane vs him. After treads you can pretty much kill him without being CC'd to death.


Difficulty: Easy/Medium

Fiora is a good match up, you both have great burst damage and she does a lot of it. Try focusing on cs early on, and poke with your Q. When you hit 6, try to still poke her down a little with your Q. Don;t go all out on her unless you are more fed than she is. She has good damage, but you can out sustain her in lane.


Difficulty: Easy

So easy to lane against, just avoid his damage early on pre 6, because you can't trade damage with him, because of his W. After you get ult, wait till he uses his E, then jump on him for the kill.


Difficulty: Medium

Galio is underrated as hell in my opinion, his ult ruins your stealth, his W allows him to sustain your damage, but you can actually burst him down easily while his ult is on cool down. Avoid his damage from his Q and E abilities, then you should be fine. Late game if he builds MR he is hard for you to kill alone.


Difficulty: Easy/Medium

Not the easiest lane for you, but not hard either, he will poke with his parlay a lot and will try to zone you. Jungle help early on will help you dominate this lane. When you get level 6 you can burst him down fast as hell. Be aware of his ult damage though.


Difficulty: Hard

I've beaten garens before, but a good experienced garen should not allow this. As long they build health/MR and pink your shroud you should lose lane. You can't burst him down at all. His silence/spin to win ruins you in lane. Never pick akali vs a garen, unless your jungle helps you out a lot.


Difficulty: Easy

Easy lane, dodge his barrels and cs in lane early on. Avoid his harassment and you can own him in lane. When you get ult you can burst him down very fast, be aware form his knock back barrel though, don't get to cocky in lane.


Difficulty: Medium

Heim has amazing poke ability and can keep you lane pushed where you can't roam. When he has turrets around him, you can't just ult on him cause of his turret/ult damage. Wait till he has 1 turret or less and jump on him and burst him down.


Difficulty: Hard

A good irelia will pink her lane and counter build you where you can not do anything to her in lane. Jungle help is needed badly. You can burst her early on if you get up in lane, but still she is hard in lane.


Difficulty: Medium

You can burst him down just like he can you. Use your Q/R combo and poke at him constantly. Be aware of his stun. As long as you avoid his stun you can win this lane. If he counter builds and pinks your lane it get a lot harder for you.


Difficulty: Medium

Well early on jayce's range owns you so get jungle help till your level 6. When you get level 6 you should be able to trade with him. Avoid his damage from his skill shot and you can out sustain him. He does great damage so be aware.


Difficulty: Easy(Easiest lane for you)

He can not do anything you after you get ult, he has no stun/snare to stop you from bursting him. Avoid his little poke bombs and be aware from his jungle help. You own karthus in lane so hard. Easy easy lane for you.


Difficulty: Medium

He pokes the shit out of you early on with his silence making him annoying, but grabbing merk treads makes it a lot easier for you in lane. When he hits 6 it's almost impossible to gank him, but you can catch up to him with your ult/rylias.


Difficulty: Easy

As long as you avoid her harassment early on, a mixture between hextech and abysll you can sit in her ult and burst her down so fast. She is annoying pre 6, so just try to farm and out cs her in lane. After 6 you own this lane.


Difficulty: Medium

A good kayle will zone you early on making it hard for you to farm, so jungle help comes in handy here. Try your best to farm early on, when you get 6 a gank is almost a guaranteed kill, be aware of her ult though and your fine.


Difficulty: Medium

He has good damage and stun ability, avoid his marks after he uses E try to burst him down then. Make sure you avoid marks before jumping on him though, his damage is good even when your not stunned.


Difficulty: Medium

His damage/poke isn't as good as it used to be, but still good. You can trade with him evenly before 6 I think. After you get ult you can burst him, as long as he doesn't counter build and pink you.


Difficulty: Hard

A good LB will poke you to death and make it almost impossible for you to farm, but a good gank from jungle when your level 6 makes you burst her down easily. Be ware of her CC and burst it's amazing. Treads and absyll is needed in this lane.


Difficulty: Medium

Everyone insta locks lee sin to vs you lane it seems, but as long as you stay behind minions and farm you can burst him down easily in my opinion. A good lee should counter build you once your ahead making it more difficult for you, but jungler comes in handy for you.


Difficulty: Medium

She has high burst potential in my eyes. Avoid her stun and burst as best as you can. You can burst her down after she uses her stun on you. Tough lane, but very winnable.


Difficulty: Medium

A good lux should never be in range of your Q/R combo, but if you can get close to her and avoid her snare you burst her down very very fast for an easy kill.


Difficulty: Hard

He can do so much damage to you, but as long as you can try to sustain you can farm, but 1v1 isn't a good idea you'll lose. If he build tanky/MR and pinks your screwed to be honest. Jungle help will be needed for this lane.


Difficulty: Medium

Okay, buy Treads and BV and he is screwed in lane vs you. Early on he will harass the shit out of you, but after you get ult and BV you can melt him. Avoid his ult while BV is on cool down.


Difficulty: Easy/Medium

Ap yi is still very good in lane, and has amazing burst/poke ability. You can burst him down while his W is on that very long cd it has. Try to avoid takign to much poke from his Q and you should be fine late game vs him.


Difficulty: Medium

Morde does great damage, don't stand on minions and you can avoid almost all of his damage. Try to poke his passive armor down before ulting and bursting him down.


Difficulty: Medium

Avoid her snares and harassment damage and you can out sustain her in lane after your ult. Be aware of her ult though, try to get out of range from it, then ult to her and burst her down. Treads do come in handy in this lane.


Difficulty: Medium

As long as nasus doesn't counter build and pink your lane you can sit and trade with him. If your fed and up on him in lane you should be able to snowball him and burst him down. If he counter builds then be aware of his Q and ult damage. Jungler comes in handy.


Difficulty: Easy/Medium

Her traps reveal your stealth, so be sure not to step on them. Avoid her poke and you can melt her in lane. She can not out run you, because of your ult.


Difficulty: Medium

I don;t face that many olafs in lane, because they can't really sit in lane if they get bursted. You can poke him with your Q and R combo, and get away easily, because he has no CC, besides a slow to get you. If he gets health and MR then you have a tough time killing him alone.


Difficulty: Easy

Avoid her damage and poke and you own her after you get your ult. you can dash to her and burst her down very fast. She has good poke and good cc to hurt you early on, be patient in lane.


Difficulty: Medium

Really not that bad of a lane early on, you can burst him down after you get your ult. Be sure to not to take to much damage from his spear. His stun hurts you a lot. Try to build some armor against him early on in lane.


Difficulty: Hard

Very hard lane, don't pick akali top lane vs a rene, because his damage is so high and he can counter build you and can still rape you in lane. Hard lane for you, jungle help is needed.


Difficulty: Medium

Very high burst damage, but you can trade with him throughout your lane. If he tries to counter build you, ask help from your jungle. Be aware of his pouncing ability. It does amazing damage and can melt you if your not aware of it.


Difficulty: Hard

Never pick akali vs riven, you'll lose if the riven knows how to play. She can burst you down and stun you and zone the crap out of you. She will pink and counter build you making it a nightmare to lane against her.


Difficulty: Medium

Rumble is not that hard for me it seems, avoid his poke damage and you can burst him down with your ult. He has no cc to stop you from bursting him down.


Difficulty: Medium

Tough lane early on, because he will harass you. Treads can in handy for his rune prison. Jungle help when you get ult is almost an insta kill for you.


Difficulty: Medium

Early on it's just a farm lane for you both, but when you both get ult you can still trade damage, but you might not be able to kill him by your self, unless you fed. He is big late game.


Difficulty: Medium/Hard

Early game you both can free farm almost but, after he gets big late game you can not even come close to killing him by yourself. This lane is very tough once he gets his health items.


Difficulty: Medium

Tough lane because of his stun, but after he uses it you should be able to burst him down. Rarely see a sion in lane anymore, but still is good vs you, jungler help comes in handy if he counter builds you.


Difficulty: Medium

Tough lane because of his poking ability to you, when you get level 6 avoid his snare and you can burst him down quiet easily. In lane just avoid his snare and your fine all throughout the game vs him.


Difficulty: Easy/Medium

Not a hard lane at all as long as you avoid her early damage. You can insta melt her almost. Be aware of her damage though it's very high.


Difficulty: Hard

He can poke you can kill you at will once he counter builds and pinks your lane. Getting an early lead on him is a huge benefit, but as logn as this talon is good, you'll have a very hard time lanning against him without jungle help.


Difficulty: Easy

Poor teemo, as long as you avoid him poking you to death early on, when you get your ult you can burst him down easily in lane. Teemo will need jungle help for you, so buy wards of course like always and just own this lane.


Difficulty: Easy/Medium

Not a hard lane, but be aware of his damage and be sure to know when his ult is up or on cool down. You can out burst him in lane. He is tough in lane once he gets up on you.


Difficulty: Easy/Medium

Be patient vs TF, and wait till he uses his wild cards. They have like a 3 second cool down, when he uses it be sure to burst him down then, you may not kill him, but you can weakin him for the next time your ult in on him for the kill.


Difficulty: Medium

Dodge stun win lane. Treads makes it impossible for him to ult combo you, so ult to him and insta kill him. Easy lane as long as you avoid damage/stun.


Difficulty: Medium

His range is ridiculous in lane, and makes it hard for you to farm, but when you hit 6 you can still ult to him for the kill. Be aware of his stun and makes sure your dodge his laser damage.


Difficulty: Medium

He can pool into your shroud making it hard for you to avoid his damage, but as long as you can avoid his damage, you should be able to burst him down when you have your ult. A gank for you early on makes you snowball late.


Difficulty: Medium/Hard

once he gets health and MR you can not kill him alone, try to farm the best you can, but I recommend not picking akali vs a voli, not a good idea for you. Jungle help will be needed.


Difficulty: Medium/Hard

He has very high sustain and he can counter build you in lane, with your ult it is still tough to burst him down alone, be patient and farm until you know you can kill him, don't try to 1v1 him straight up, you'll lose.


Difficulty: Medium

If he pinks and counter builds you in lane it is very very tough to win this lane, make sure you pink your lane so when jungle help comes you can kill him and get up on him in lane.


Difficulty: Medium/Hard

His range is maybe the best in game, and can harass the hell out of you, jungle help to stun him and allowing you to catch up to him will benefit you greatly in lane.


Difficulty: Medium

Tough lane with his ghouls, but your shroud makes the ghouls not focus you so you can sustain the lane a little better, you can burst him down after his ghouls are on cool down. Jungle help early on allows you to get up in lane vs him.


Difficulty: Medium

Your shroud ruins his ult, unless he pinked it. You can trade with him, but when you both get ultimate, be sure to avoid his with your shroud.


Difficulty: Medium

His poking ability is very very annoying for you early on, it's even hard to catch up to him with your ult, be sure to just cs and sustain the lane early on. A gank to slow him down makes you burst him down easily.


Difficulty: Medium

She has really good burst damage, and her snare is very annoying, but as long as you can avoid her snare you should be able to burst him down easily.



-Hard Counters-


I hate soloing against these champions simply because of their CC abilities. I've figured out that when soloing against these champions, your jungler has to help you out. Even with your ult, Champions like Talon, Udyr, and Riven make it hard to kill them or burst them down alone(Unless your fed).



What have we learned?
  • Stay safe with your shroud
  • Wait till your ULTIMATE to start initiating a battle
  • Grab boots and items that are necessary for mid.
  • Poke at them with your Q and R combo.
  • Stay away from Silences, Can't stress this enough champions like is hard to solo against early game/mid game.

Farming made easy

Akali can outfarm pretty easily mid, once she has ,, plus the AMAZING . Akali can farm with her crescent slash extremely fast. Her E mixed with her Q makes farming easy. The sheen will activate every time you use a skill, so you will be doing your bonus damages, your bonus ap, plus the bonus from the sheen to farm quiet quickly.

When farming early game, just use your to back of the enemy, and use your to last hit minions or to 2 hit them. Out farming a mid or solo lane can get you your items faster than the other person your soloing against.

Late game, Akali can pretty much farm at ease, because she can destroy minions and monsters very fast due to all of her burst damage, which also makes dragon very easy for her to kill.

Tower Diving



This simply shows how easy it is to get kills if the other team is within their own turret range, remember though your shroud will not work if you throw with the towers range, because it has a passive vision ward and other enemy champion will be able to see you. This is where my becomes my best friend, tower diving in with your
allows you to jump on the low healthed enemy then ignite them for the kill then simply flash out and throw your shroud if other enemy champions is near by. Even if other champions are half health and your are fed, you can easily dash in and ignite for the kill, be cautious and aware if they have a stun snare to stop you. Late game though I usually grab a , so even if they do you can dash in their and kill them easily without putting yourself in harms way.

NOTE: Everytime she gets a kill or assist, while she is level 6 or greater, she restores her , everytime, so if you have 1 left, you can use it to tower dive get the kill, then ult on an enemy minion to get out of turret range.

Early Game

When your a solo lane(like mid or top) use your Q to last hit but after you get your shroud, you can back off the other person mid so you can farm a little more while they can't. After getting your Q, W, and E, you can now farm like no other while midding early game. I have been out CS'ing other champions mid with Akali very easily due to pushing them away with her shroud, and pokeing them with your Q. After throwing your shroud down, other champiosn are hesitant to come toward it, but if they are staying around it poke them with your Q, because most people know once marked with it, they know better to back off to avoid the bonus damage. Use your W to escape ganks, I always get my W for my second skill to escape and avoid danger early game.

If you mark a enemy champion with your Q, they will most likely back off from you when you throw the shroud, due to the bonus damage it does once you hit them while they are marked.

Mid Game

Akali mid game(Once you have gotten your ) can easily jungle, so while you pushed mid to the enemies turret with your minion wave, you can start taking down wraiths and wolves for more gold. When mid game does come around I start utilizing her ganking abilities, I can easily travel to top or bott, since my shroud will help me avoid danger(If encountered on your way to gank). Akali's allows you to jump into the scene of a fight, which is ideal for ganking.
With akali's new buff to shroud you can see through bushes or dark places, so now you can farm even easier while in mid lane.

This game I went 31/2/2, and only 148 CS, but I was way to busy demolishing the other team. The one negative game you see is me straying away from the build I made up. With the build i've been using i've went 139/26 in the past 8 games. you can look me and and have a gander for yourself.

Late Game

-Late Game-


Once late game does start, when everyone is finally starting to team fight and set up for baron, Akali is first an assassin not just a carry. When a team fight is initiated(Once your tank and team start fighting) throw your shroud near the back of the enemy team(Where the ad/ap carry is for safety) and burst them down. Akali can burst down ashe or karthus in a matter of seconds. After you get these kills your Essence of Shadow is restored. So while your getting kills or assists, you can recharge your ult and keep mowing down other enemy champions. If their ad carry flashes out, simply ult to catch back up to them and finish the kill, because you restored another Essence of Shadow and now you can ult back into the fight. Remember mid and late game you will be focused hard, but with your you can stay safe, but don't ever initiate a team fight, because you will die instantly, let your tank and other initiate then your assassin will truly show in the fight.

Dodge, Dip, Dive, Duck, and Dodge... The 5 D's to avoid danger.

We all know how well Akali's and can make her escape and avoid danger, but her ult allows her to do it with great speed, Where no one can catch you, no matter how hard they tried.



Placing wards in your jungle is beneficial, because it allows you to see the jungles creeps, like golems, wolves ect...But for the reason you can ult onto anyone that appears to escape with tremendous amount of speed.
Once throwing your shroud you always wanna try to escape in a way the other team doesn't see coming.
If you do throw it and they will not leave flash out, or simply ult on an oncoming enemy minion to escape then flash. You have 3 flashes with your , but with your being up you have a total of 4 if you can use them correctly.



Face cheching bushes this way is a great way for Akali to stay safe.

NOTE: Her shroud now reveals the area of affected shroud. So if you out your shroud into a bush it will show if anyone is there.

Team Fighting Techniques



This is a short video showing you who to target during team fights. Akali can eat a squishy dps character with ease. She can control a fight by doing this. DPS champions like ashe, cait, and vayne are the dps carriers in a game, but Akali can easily control the outcome of a fight by taking these guys out of the fight(so your team is getting mowed down by them). Akali remember comes in burst so once in a fight whoever you mark ult on them chase them down until either dead(or far enough from your team so their not getting destroyed.

During group fights - Wait like the assassin you are, let your team initiate the battle, wait for some of the enemy champions waste some of their skills(like stuns, silences, or snares) after you see some of these casted at your team jump in on their DPS champion(Ashe for instance) pick her off from the fight. Then come back to the fight and finish whoever you want. Akali is one of the best KS'ers in the game(Kill Still) with using her ult.

*Note - In team fights, when your tank initiates the fight Be aware of the ADC, Once you pounce on them you can kill them within seconds of you ulting on them, which completely takes them out of the fight which helps your team out A LOT. Just focus the weaker enemy champions after that.

Pushing your Lane, is beneficial

When you push your lane Mid, not really top, you can Easily roam to top to bottom for ganks, you can even ward their blue, and steal it or catch their mid or jungle weak and snag the easy kill.

This is how I never lose as Akali anymore, I push my mid lane just a bit, Roam around and catch the other team out of place. This happens alot, If you see their jungler going for a gank bott/top roam toward the fight and then let your team iniate it. You can snag easy kills and help get your other lanes fed, besides you. Akali is one of the best ks's in the game with her ult, but it helps at times to let your ad carry to snag some kills as well.

When pushing your lane be cautious of being ganked(this is why you have wards) then roam them, because I have had a lot of times where I warded their blue and caught their ap trying to getting snagged the kill and blue buff. This helps you out mid tremendously!
