Champion Matchups

First Impressions

She can be built one of two ways. She can go Ap Caster, or Support.
I prefer her support, with 40% cdr and my build I reach over 3,000 health and 40% cdr.
Played her in Beta and NA Server
1900 Support player

Pros:
Fair amount of health points mid and late game.
She can slow/silence/polymorph and has a knockup.
She can speed up or shield an ally.
Ultimate is really useful for initiator or your AD carry. (Knocks up and slows nearby enemy champions)

Cons:
She is pretty squishy, especially early game.
She has to chose either giving herself a ability power/shield or polymorph/damage
She has to be close for her ultimate to knockup
She has a decent burst then cool downs for a few seconds

Runes/Masteries/Summoners

Runes:

I chose these runes because, I feel they are the "best" set for supports.
Reds: They provide you with armor, for the early game. Since you are bottom lane, you will be matched against an AD carry, dealing attack damage, the armor helps to decrease the damage you take.
Another option would be Magic penetration. Lulu does a pretty decent amount of damage, and if you feel you wont be taking so much damage early game, magic penetration will allow you to do more damage, hurting the enemy.

Yellows: I chose gp10 yellows, for the extra gold. This gives you .25 (per rune) every 10 seconds, and while it may not seem amazing, it definitely helps in buying items faster, and keeping up with warding.

Blues: I chose mana regen because, well she needs it. You can spam your spells, and keep your allies alive better by regening mana. Not being able to farm, and main income is from gp10 items/runes + dragon/assists, you don't have a lot of money to throw into mana regen items.

Quints: I chose gp10 quints, for the same reason i chose yellows. While health/armor may help, getting items faster, and easier does help much more.

Masteries:

0/9/21
I chose this mastery setup because it gives me the defense masteries to be somewhat tanky, while still giving me the full utility tree that really helps.
Defense: Get the armor and heal mastery, then Durability, and veteran scars for more base health.
Utility: This tree provides you with, 15 second cd on Flash, mana regen, movement speed, starting gold, and cooldown reduction.

Summoners:
Flash:
I chose Flash, because it allows you to escape or get into certain situations. Even after the changes, Flash is still one of the best summoners in League of Legends.

Heal:
Summoner heal allows you to save your team, and give surrounding allies a boost in health much like Soraka's ultimate. While this may be changed for in some situations, I feel it is a good summoner to have.

Clairvoyance:
I wouldn't replace Flash with Clairvoyance, but i feel it can be a trade from Heal. Heal is a good summoner, but I feel in competitive play, Clairvoyance works exceptionally well. I really like at least one heal bottom, but the ad carry usually can carry it, so its your choice of heal or clairvoyance. It can be used all game for finding the enemy team, the jungler, times on buffs, or checking if an area is safe to enter.

Support Guide

Items:
I Start with . The mana regen, potions for sustain, and wards for protection are a good choice to start. When possible build and . Keep buying wards, work toward your .

Skills:
I usually start with either or . Getting second, and the remaining skill 3rd, having all 3 skills at level 3. I use Q and auto attacks to harass when possible, trying to avoid taking to much damage myself. Remember Q can also go through minions or champions slowing and damaging them. When we or the enemy initiates I immediately the carry and shield them or damage the enemy with and . The first skill I max is , which is the damage or shield. My reasoning behind this is, since you don’t actually have a heal, the shield can protect negate some or all of the damage taken. The next skill I max is . It increases the duration of your polymorph, and decreases cool down.

Early Game

Always keep the river warded, and occasionally use to counter ward the river or dragon area. When harassing, you can use then auto attack and to harass, but if its an aggressive lane you can try mainly using to shield your ally from incoming damage. Maxing it will provide a larger shield negating damage, much like Janna’s shield. When engaging try the carry and slowing them with . When being ganked I try to slow the jungler, and/or them. When fighting after level 6, I normally sit behind my carry, using my to slow and damage, my on the carry, and usually to shield my carry, or damage the enemy carry. When the carry gets somewhat low, I use to knockup/slow and give my ally bonus health.

Mid Game

Your a support, remember always buy wards, and pink wards when possible. Around this time lanes start being more aggressive and junglers may gank more often so be careful. Shield your carry when they initiate or are taking damage, and poke harass other times. Don't get caught yourself because their damage is pretty good. You should have + + , and be working to finish and/or . Having these items will make you more durable, while giving your team a speed boost for escaping/catching and making them more durable as well. Keep having your carry farm, and alert your team if enemy is ganking or counter jungling nearby. has two ways to stop channel spells, one being and the other being her . When team fights arise, make sure to stay near your AD carry still, he is your main person to protect. Normally I dont my allies in team fights, I save it for the poly-morph on enemy champions, but a few occasions, if you don't need the morph, the extra ability power can really help. I chose, either use ultimate on my initiator or my AD carry. If they aren't focusing the carry, I use it on the initiator, the knock up and slow on top of boost of health really help out and can put the fight in your favor.

Late Game

Try keeping baron, and surrounding bushes/entrances to baron warded at all times. During this time you should have basically all your items, atleast 4 or 5 of them being: + + + . Your next item is usually , providing you with 40% cdr/more health and is a great asset to your team, especially the AD carry, and bruisers. If the game persists, is an excellent choice, which helps the team providing ability power, and spell vamp to surrounding allies. There are other options such as , and others if you feel they would benefit you more that game. During fights, wait for your team to initiate, and use on the damage dealer, usually the ap carry or the ad carry. Doing so will make them unable to cast spells for the duration, and can be used several times a team fight with max CDR. Use , to initiate a fight, or save it for escaping if the fight doesn't go in your favor. I use during the begining of the fight, as soon as we start taking damage, casting all my spells, . When someone gets somewhat low, or is in the middle of the enemy I use my which slows and knock up surrounding enemies and provides my ally with a nice health boost. If, the enemy team is diving or going for my AD carry, I cast it on them, providing them with the boost, to hopefully keep them alive. Always keep an eye on your positioning, I try to stay near everyone on my team providing them with the and buffs, and being in position to cast my spells upon needed targets.

Item Choices

Shurelyas Reverie:
Pretty standard item on most support champions. This builds from your gp10 item, and provides you with health/cooldown reduction/health/mana regens, and also provides surrounding allies with a speed boost for a few seconds upon activation. This is a very good item for either initiating, chasing or fleeing fights. I highly recommend this item.

Ionian Boots Of Lucidity:
This can be changed for later, but I feel it works very well on . She feels very slow, and can use cool down's to help spam her ability's more often. I get a little after philo, and build these boots after finishing + .

Locket Of The Iron Solari:
Locket of the iron Solari is a very good item, increases health regen of surrounding allies, and provides a shield for a fair ammount when activated. I feel this + are very strong, and having both items can really aid your teammates.

Aegis Of The Legion:
One of my favorite support items, not only does it increase your health and resistances but also provides defense/magic resistance to surrounding allies. This being built mid game can really increase your teams durability.

Zeke's Herald:
This item, I normally build after getting my . This item can be built before if you feel your team has enough bruisers and is durable enough in fights, if not I save to build this after finishing my other items. This provides your surrounding teammates with lifesteal and attack speed, and provides yourself with extra health and cooldown reduction.

Will Of The Ancients:
This can be built as an last item to complete your build. Normally the game doesn't get far enough to finish all items, but on the chance it does this is a good item to get. This provides ability power and spell vamp to nearby allies. Remember, wards are more important than fully completing your builds, so save this item slot wards, until very late in the game. Can be changed for other items, which are posted below.

Extra/Luxury:

Abyssal Scepter:
This could be used for a last item to complete your build on Lulu. This gives her ability power, to make her spells more damage and shield larger, as well as decreasing the magic resistance of nearby enemies. This items works best with heavy Ability power teams, such as Top lane: + MidLane: .

Banshee's Veil:
This provides you with more health/mana pool, and an shield that blocks 1 magic spell every 45 seconds. Normally I chose over , but still a very good item.

Deathfire Grasp:
I rarely get this, but it does/can work. The extra damage, mana regen, and cool down reduction make this viable. This should not be a priority item, but is more of an end game luxury.

Frozen Heart:
I buy this item for heavy melee enemy teams. This item gives 99 armor, 500 mana and has an unique passive of Reducing abilty cool downs by 20%, and reduces the attack speed of nearby enemies by 20%.

Guardian Angel:
If you feel you are being focused in fights this is a very good last item. While being expensive, if you can save the gold for this it can work very well in your favor. The longer you last, the more control and help you are to your allies. If your being bursted down, they will have used vital abilities to kill you wasting cool downs.

Mercury's Treads:
I save this for end game, when I have enough cool down reduction from masteries and items that its still maxed. This works very well, reduces duration of slows, stuns, taunts, fears, snares, sleeps and immobilizes by 35%. After reaching your core items, trade for these.

Quicksilver Sash:
This is a very good item for when teams are focusing you, especially with suppression's. I almost always get this when being targeted by or . Another champion I get this against is . My reasoning behind that is, he will try to ultimate/taunt your entire team, and if you use during it, then or it will cancel before the full duration.

Rabadon's Deathcap:
Ability power from this item is very good, and provides you with a huge boost in damage or in shield strength. If you feel your durable enough in fights, and would like extra damage and shield strength I suggest this item. Its a luxury, very late game item but can benefit yourself and your teammates with extra damage.

Randuins Omen:
Provides with bonus health, and slows enemies that attack you. Unique passive slows movement and attack speed of surrounding enemy champions upon activation. Works very well against , and other melee champions.

Rylai's Crystal Scepter:
Expensive but very good item. Not only does this add a slow to your damage abilities, but also gives you health and ability power. This makes you more durable and gives you damage, and an better shield.

Stream

If you want to see my gameplay, talk in chat, and listen to music come to my stream at http://www.twitch.tv/xmissymeganx - I play with viewers and host 5v5 custom normal games and arabs daily.

Wards And Jungle Timers:
Wards – 3 Minute Lifespan
Blue Buff – 5 Minute Respawn
Red Buff – 5 Minute Respawn
Dragon – 6 Minute Respawn
Baron – 7 Minute Respawn

When using a pink ward bottom, always pink the river bush or lane bush. This is because the enemy can counter your river pink with just using the bush which would still give them the vision they need.

My guides outdated, but I've been playing a ton of lulu lately. Ill update my runes/skill order now but wont do a full remake of the guide yet, need to wait for S3 to edit alot more.

Runes:

4 Gp10 + 5 flat armor yellows

9 flat armor reds

2 flat armor 1 movement speed quintessence

9 mana regen per level blues

Summoners: Flash, Exhaust

Skill Order: R>Q>E>W

Masteries: 0/9/21

As for item choices:

Well I build philo, into Hog into Shurelia/Boots

Then either Zekes or Aegis

I go tankyish, the damage is still mediocre, but ehh Kages is a different type of item, depends on situation and if i have the money to buy it while getting myself tanky

While i appreciate your input and some of your things are like mine we differ in a few aspects. But thats what makes guides/builds always different

November 25, 2012 - 11:46 PM #2

I just made an account right now just to comment on this guide.

I main Lulu as a support and I constantly change my play style on however the ad carry plays.

For runes: I use flat armor marks, flat armor seals (I have never tried gp yellows yet), 5 MR leveling glyphs, 4 AP scaling glyphs, and Quints of GP5.

For Masteries: 9/0/21. I used to have it in the defense tree, but I figured I don't need it anymore if I work along side with my ad carry.

Summoner spells: Exhaust and Flash. Exhaust to keep the opponent slowed down and with the help of your Q, they won't be able to escape easily. And Flash in case you are out of position for whatever reason.

Items I start off with is Fairies Charm, 3 health pots, 3 wards. Start the game with Q and just chip the opponent's health down. Next point goes into W in case the opponent tries to engage against your ad carry. And put your third point in your E. You will max out Q first to harass the hell out of the opponent, then max out E, then W. Use your E on minions and Q on the opponents if they are far away, but if they are at a decent distant just Q them so you don't lose as much mana. Keep in mind to ward the lane bushes and the river.

Now if your ad carry acquired first blood and you got an assist, try to get a Philosopher stone and buy more wards.

Your next goal is to go for a Kage's Lucky Pick (I started to pick this up because HoG is gone in season 3). Afterwards buy boots and more wards (Never forget to buy wards).

Your next item to get is a Meki's Pendant and then next boots of mobility since you are going to stay in the back of team fights. Turn your Meki Pendant into a Fiendish Codex. Make sure you have room to buy another Meki Pendant and turn that into a Chalice. You will build this into an Athene's Unholy Grail.

Depending how the game is going:

Is your team winning? Go for a Zeke's Herald to assist your ad carry at all times!

Is your team losing: Go for an Aegis of Legion!

Now that you are spiraling into late game, turn your Philosopher Stone into a Shurelya's Reverie for engaging in team fights, or retreating if your team is losing.

That is what I do to secure wins as Lulu. One day I will try out the GP5 yellow runes on her.

November 18, 2012 - 05:30 AM #3

After i review the items, and test things i will edit my guides.

Probably will take a bit, i like to figure out what i like better, what order for items etc.. Stay Tuned!!

March 24, 2012 - 07:46 PM #4

@ Synchronization: Its you... Anyway, I've thought about it, and tried it but i find it doesnt work, atleast for me. I've only done it a few times, but I like maxing E, because of the shield and the damage it gives, rather then the damage Q does. I feel helping my ally, or doing damage, is just better then fully using Q. Although i can see it working, and i should do more testing, i prefer E, atleast for time being. If in the event i find it works better then i will change it. Hope that answers your question.

Going on a weeks vacation. Wont be back for a week or so, incase comments/questions arise, will answer when i get back.

March 24, 2012 - 07:25 PM #5

I used this guide and just won =). How do you feel about maxing Q before E? Nhat and Muffinqt feel like that is the best way to play her. Thanks btw!!

This is a chat log that was started while ingame and after the game had ended. You can only see Synchronization, start the convo then I (MissyMegan) joins later. I dont remember talking, or even adding this person, but ive added a bunch in the past month or so, from making guides and randoms, so, Apparently "she" is on my friends list. It was started randomly while in a game, she starts bashing me and saying things about my guide and modship and somewhere near the end, implies she didnt really read the guide, she was "sorry And i should "reapprove it" and she will remove her comment (Ultimate's comment). I dont know where the bashing started, or why anyone would be so immature as to post that on someones work or anything. Im sorry i didnt screen shot every word said in game, it would have taken much time, so i placed it into word, then screenshotted it. As stated, im sorry you dont have what i said first, i was in a game. Also for all my fans who appreciate/like my guides, I appreciate the support and kind words from all of you. - Sincerely, MissyMegan

Still definitely outclassed by other guides, very much lacking in content. Downvoting as well, not worthy of an Approval.

March 23, 2012 - 04:13 PM #8

: Inferior copy of Xpecials, but posted 2-3 days before his. Video may be "worse" but has more content, and may not be perfect but has a fair amount of detail and a good build. Not copy and pasted, written from experience and general knowledge of the new champion. Its a support, they dont differ from one another all that much, just skills and how passive/offensive to play at times, and utility it brings to fights.

March 23, 2012 - 03:03 PM #9

basically an inferior copy of Xpecial's guide with worse videos and copy-pasted content from other support guides. unfortunately it's quite lacking, both in item explanations and content; i'm unsure why this guide is approved. definitely gets my downvote until improvements are made. there are already superior support guides as well as guides that cover her role as an AP.

March 23, 2012 - 07:27 AM #10

Understandable and sense is made. Maybe when i get a bit of extra IP, I'll check and try some relations to it n_n; Thank you.
