Champion Matchups

Introduction

Darius is on of the most overpowered champions in the game right now.
He deal ridiculus much damage, and can easily pick up targets that are low.


He is not that tanky though, so you should try to get in some tanky items in your build, but dont build to tanky, because he will lack damage late game.

I've seen many different dariuses so far. Some are agressive and some like to farm there way to victory.

Pros and cons

Pros:
High amount of damage
Low mana costs
Strong vs most melee champs
Fast jungle clear
Good engage mechanism
Overpowered Ultimate

Cons:
No mobility
Can easily get poked and kited
Hard time vs ranged
Farm dependant

Summoner Spells



Very good for both jungling and toplane, to cripple the enemy bot offensive and defensive.
Flash is always good and never fails if you use it properly. You can use it to escape, pick up champs by flashing in and and you can engage fights if the enemy team havn't engaged yet.
Ghost is also a very good summoner spell, which can be changed out with flash. Good for picking up champs and chase them.
Also a good spell to use, but i would leave it when jungling.

Skills

Passive: Hemorrhage
Darius aims his attacks strategically, causing his target to bleed. This effect stacks up to five times.

Explanation:

Op passive that makes you a harrasing machine. Even if you dont get the kills when ganking, they might bleed to death while they are escaping.
This is also your key spell for your ultimate. Try hitting your enemy, and get 5 stacks then use your ultimate for maximum damage.





Q: Decimate
Darius swings his axe in a wide circle. Enemies struck by the blade take more damage than those struck by the shaft.

Explanation:

Incredibly usefull ability. You can both farm the jungle, clear waves of minons fast and harras enemy champions before a teamfight happens. This is also your main damage ability, so you should level this first.





W: Crippling Strike
Darius's next attack severs a crucial artery. As the target bleeds out, their movement and attack speeds are slowed. Crippling Strike's cooldown is lower the more bloodied the target.

Explanation:

You should use this ability whenever it's of cooldown, because of the extra damage you deal with it, and it helps out alot to slow their attack speed.
Try getting it mainly the enemy ad carry, or a fed enemy.





E: Apprehend
Darius hones his axe, granting him passive armor penetration. When activated, Darius sweeps up his enemies with his axe's hook and pulls them to him.

Explanation:

Good for both engaging and ganks. It's also an AoE pull, so try getting targets under your turret, to make them do bad choices.
You can also pick up target out of position.





R: Noxian Guillotine
Darius leaps to an enemy Champion and strikes a lethal blow, dealing true damage. This damage increases for each stack of Hemorrhage on the target. If Noxian Guillotine is a killing blow, its cooldown is refreshed.

Explanation:

This is one of the most mad ults in the game. Dont use this ability untill you know you can kill the enemy with it. If you get a kill, or the target is killed while using it, the cooldown on it will be refreshed, so you can just keep spamming it on low target.






Skill Order

If you are the engager:
(depending on the distance)

If there is someone else engaging:
(try getting ad carry with it)

When you level your skills you should max first.

You can choose either or depending on your play style. I usually take because i like to clear the jungle faster.

Always level whenever you can. (6,11,16)

Masteries

I choose to go with these masteries because of high damage and fast jungle clear.

Note:
You can also go with defensive masteries, but i personally like the damage, because the enemy team will have a harder time, with killing you, ad carry and ap carry.

Tanky option:

You should choose these masteries if your team is lacking tank/tanky champions.

Runes

I choose these runes for fast jungle clear and some damage early game.

I like the Attack speed runes for both fast clear, and you dont have to buy or any other raw attack speed item.
So you can focus more on being tanky and doing damage.

Early Game

Early game you should focus on clearing the jungle fast, and try to find a gankable lane.
You can also try to run into the enemy jungle to pick up their wraits. You might also be lucky enough that the enemy jungler, havn't killed one of the buffs yet.

Beware of couter jungling champions like:


High damage output and got a cc already at lvl 2


Dont do alot of melee damage, but his shield is scary


Another champ that have a large health pool, and does good damage.


Does much damage, much hp and you can be tricked by his passive.


Mid Game

At mid game, you are usually ahead, but if you arn't you should clear you jungle and clear pushed waves if your teammate arn't there to do it.

If you are far ahead you should consider getting and clear wards. If you are having problems finding them, check around dragon, baron, both wraith camps and near the blue buffs. These are the spots that are mainly being warded.

You should also get dragon whenever you can, and try to make game with your teammates.





Late Game

Late game you should get the buffs for your carrys.(blue for mid, red for ad carry)
You should keep wards up to notice if the enemy team is camping a brush or running around in a group to gank.

Always get baron whenever it spawns, but dont go if all of your enemies and missing and you got no vision. When fighting you should try to pull the enemy carry(s) with and just burst them down.

Jungling

When jungling you start at wolves,blue,wraiths,red,golems,wraiths.
After doing this you are around level 4 and you are ready to gank.

You can also gank at level 2 if you pick up and an enemy is pushing hard.

When you gank you should ask if they warded, and if they did you should run another directions to not get noticed when ganking.

When you run in to gank, start with then and .
After this they are either dead or low. If they havn't died yet get in another and if you're level 6.


Final Comments

Overall Darius is alot of fun to play, and you will in most cases be fed at a very early level.
