Hi. My name is Nyco ( LoL= NycoLosBomberos), and I'm here to teach you guys how to play my favorite champion, Talon.
This guide is my second on Solomid, and it's here because I just felt that it's necessary to post a Talon guide these days. I haven't faced a very successful Talon as of yet, and it seems his popularity is declining, along with the fact that I haven't seen any guides on here go into the truly TECHNICAL terms a guide should go into.

This guide is for people who want to pick this insanely fun champion up and play him EFFECTIVELY. It will not teach you the basics of League of Legends, there are other guides for that. It will not just teach you what items, runes and masteries to get. It will teach you my own choices, WHY, and what affect different choices and playstyles have on your game. It won't just teach you what skills to max first, it will intricately compare between them and teach you the strategy of using each and every one of them.
You're here for Talon as an entire champion, and Talon is one hell of a package.

Who is Talon?

Talon's earliest memories are the darkness of Noxus' underground passages and the reassuring steel of a blade. He remembers no family, warmth, or kindness. Instead, the clink of stolen gold and the security of a wall at his back are all the kinship he has ever craved. Kept alive only by his quick wits and deft thievery, Talon scraped out a living in the seedy underbelly of Noxus. His mastery of the blade quickly marked him as a threat, and Noxian guilds sent assassins to him with a demand: join their ranks or be killed. He left the bodies of his pursuers dumped in Noxus' moat as his response.

The assassination attempts grew increasingly dangerous until one assailant met Talon blade-for-blade in a match of strength. To his surprise, Talon was disarmed and facing down his executioner's sword when the assassin revealed himself to be General Du Couteau. The General offered Talon the choice between death at his hand, or life as an agent of the Noxian High Command. Talon chose life, on the condition that his service was to Du Couteau alone, for the only type of orders he could respect were from one he could not defeat. Talon remained in the shadows, carrying out secret missions on Du Couteau's orders that took him from the frigid lands of Freljord to the inner sanctums of Bandle City. When the general vanished, Talon considered reclaiming his freedom, but he had gained immense respect for Du Couteau after years in his service. He became obsessed with tracking down the general's whereabouts. Talon's suspicions led him to the doors of the Institute of War, where he joined the League of Legends in order to find those responsible for Du Couteau's disappearance.

Talon is an Attack Damage Burst Assassin (more generally, he is a physical burst caster) iterating on mobility, elusiveness and the element of surprise. Talon is a serial AD carry rapist.

Talon is an extremely powerful mid laner. He literally counters 95% of the champions he would have to face in mid.

Talon is awesome.

While Talon is, just like any other champion, very easy to buy for 6300 IP or 975 RP and just select in the champ select screen, he is an EXTREMELY HARD CHAMPION TO MASTER AND PLAY IN AN EFFECTIVE WAY. His burst damage is the highest AD burst in the entire game, and perhaps even higher than most other AP bursts as well. Talon is all about BURST DAMAGE. He can one-shot AD carrys in under a second flat, he can take down Tanky DPS enemies with his full build without breaking a sweat. He really is a great champion if you're looking for damage, and while all this would seem very lucrative, unless you know how to play him well, you will not be able to utilize Talon's full potential.

Godly damage
Elusive
Counters 90% of mid champions
Is a solid top-laner
His damage is ALMOST ENTIRELY AOE, which is an advantage all assassins lack entirely
Can jungle


CONS:

Very squishy
His damage is entirely physical
Requires sharp reflexes and good map awareness
Requires good positioning and knowledge of when to engage and disengage
Is weak to crowd control
His jungling is subpar at best

Summoner Spells

Explanation:

Flash
Flash: You need it. Sometimes you cannot reach the oponent to strike completly with Shadow Assault, or maybe you're being focused, and have to get out of the teamfight. You're squishy, and therefor, you need this.


Ignite
Ignite is a great choice, the one I recommand for mid. Just what Talon needs, extra damage. If you use ignite during your Shadow Assault, it will force your blades to come back. Cutthroat, Rake, Noxian Diplomacy, Shadow Assault & Ingite for pure efficiency. You'll be dealing top damage with said combo.



Other good options:


Ghost
Ghost, combined with Flash can be a very deffensive option, or a very offensive one. Use Shadow Assault, Ghost and just chase after them, dealing almost complete damage with your ulti. If they still escape, Flash + Cutthroat, and finish'em.


Exhaust
Exhaust: Mid or Toplane, pretty much the same. When you harrass them, they'll be backing out, and whenever you want to kill them you'll need this. With the Masteries, you lower their armour even more, and you also trigger your passive, wich makes you deal more damage. Rake, Exhaust for ganks, is also very very useful.

Masteries

They sort of explain themselves. 21 offense for damage output, and 9 utility because that extra movement speed from Swiftness comes in handy if you want to have that little advantage over the mid you're against so you can Cutthroat over to them and burst some damage with Noxian Diplomacy + Rake.

Also, the 0.5 seconds off recall cast time with Improved Recall has saved me countless times, it's just amazing.

Runic Affinity Is really useful too, because you should try to steal red buff as much as you can from the enemy's jungle. It just make it last longer which gives you far more use out of it.

Runes

+12 Magic Resist

This runes give your nice damage and sustain in lane. Also with this runes you can gank pretty well, becuase you have yellow armor.

Skill Order

Why E>Q?
Its simple:
Its not bad to skill Q>E, but E>Q is much better.
Your E spell gives you much more damage. On the frist ranked 3%(+3% per ranked/ 5=15% more dmg) more damage. With this skill you can burst your enemys away.

Mercy - Passive
This is one of the least useful passives in the game, mainly because Talon doesn't autoattack more than once or twice in a combo. Try to make use of it by jumping on a cc'd enemy, although you should already be doing that anyway.

Noxian Diplomacy - Q
Huge part of your combo. This is what does will do ridiculous damage when strung together with an autoattack and sheen proc, plus the bonus damage from your E. When you blink onto an enemy, autoattack once, then use this immediately afterward.

Rake - W
Your main farming/harassing ability. Use this to poke down your enemies to a reasonable amount of health before you commit yourself to jumping on them.

Cutthroat - E
This is how you start your combo. Decent range blink that silences and gives you bonus damage. Don't rely on the silence to stop an opponent though, because it's such a short duration that a lot of casters won't even be affected.

Shadow Assault - R
This is what makes Talon such a scary assassin. Invisibility, movespeed, and excellent damage. Use this to escape, or as more burst damage in your combo. When this ability is up, it will be very, very hard for enemies to kill you. It also has a short cooldown, so don't be afraid to use it as needed.

Boots

Boots Options:

Berserkers-Greaves
Talon is better Burst AD then ATS. So I don't believe these boots are very good on him.


Boots of Mobility
People have asked me about why I don't get these as a Roamer. Well they work very well, even more so getting in range for a gank. But I like boots of swiftness because if i'm in a team fight or being chased down, I don't want to have to wait for its passive to kick in. I'd rather be able to just out run someone. But this boots work just as well. Depends on your play style.

These boots are very good to, Cooldowns really help on a burst hero like Talon. If you get this item I would work on zeal sooner for speed.


Mercury's Treads
Best boots in the game. Amazing for CC which is one of Talon weakness.


Ninja-Tabi
With dodge runes I can see this working well. But I just think there are better boots out there. But like I said, go with your play style.

Match ups

Easy against:




Some of the strongest and scariest mages in the game can suddenly become dust when having to fight a Talon. If you can kill them fast enough, or make sure they blow their important cooldowns first, it should be quite easy to get rid of them.


Watch out!:



They are able to sustain themselves, and are a potential lethal threat to you. Take them on early and keep them down. Watch out to not get caught as they can burst you down fast! Be faster ;)
If you don't make too many big mistakes, you should be able to play the lane at least even.

Tips to using Talon effectly in Lane

If you want to harrass with Rake:



1. Will it get you into trouble with the other laner?
Don't throw yourself into Swain's snare in order to land a rake. Talon's harrass relies on free damage. Use those times, for example, when one of the enemy's skills is on cooldown.
Xerath just used his E? Oh lord, QEW.* There's one third of his health gone. What will he have to react with? His Q? You did more damage. Use a potion.

2. Will it push your lane?
What will be Rake's interaction with minions? Make sure it hits the enemy champion without pushing the lane too hard. If the lane is pushed against you, use that to your harrassing advantage and push it back using Rakes.

3. Do you have the mana for it?
Always take into account the amount of mana you need to BURST someone down, that means your Q, E, W, and R's mana costs put together. Do some math before you go in a lane. A Talon that doesn't manage his mana costs is a Talon that succumbs to Riot's dumb nerfs. When you see that you have hit this cap, which is somewhere around 280 - 400 Mana, stop using skills and let your mana regenerate a little. You'd never know when you'll need a full skill rotation. Maybe the other champion would overcommit and dive you? Your ult keeps you safe under your turret in the laning phase. a burst would turn things around wonderfully. What if their jungler is coming to gank you and he's low on health? I'll tell you a few stories about that later.

QEW Combo

1. Make sure using your E won't get you into a pile of ****.
Watch what the enemy jungler is doing. As I said, Cutthroat has COMMITMENT written all over it. Use it at the wrong time and it will cause you to lose out in the damage exchange or even throw you into a gank. It's so easy to overextend and die pre-6, and sometimes even a flash won't save you because you're so squishy. Is the enemy Lee Sin currently ganking top? Good. Get on with harrassing the enemy, because you're good at it. If you do make the mistake of Cutthroating into a gank, you won't even have Cutthroat to save you. Getting ganked pre-6 is always bad, and especially so for squishy Talon with half of his escapability not being up until lv.6 and his Cutthroat, which is the other half, on cooldown. This is why you use wards, which are important for any laner, and especially for Melee laners like Talon. Also, make sure you don't stray too far from your minions as you will have to run BACK after attacking the enemy, and you will be vulnerable on the way back.

2. Take advantage of your enemy's cooldowns. Mid lane is a big mindgame.
Bait Q's, avoid snares and stuns, take advantage of Kennen wasting his E, of Vladimir wasting his high cooldown early game Q, of Lux wasting her snare, basically any skill that would be able to harm you back in your attempt to unleash a burst upon the enemy laner. Talon is a squishy champion with no laning sustainability, and so he takes advantage of his enemy's weaknesses in order to stay out of harm's way while interrupting their farm.

3. Make sure to utilize everything that your harrass allows you.
For example Rake's slow entitles you to an extra 10% damage which stacks with your E. A 130 damage Q instantly turns into 146. That's a very nice boost. Land as many autoattacks in this damage boost period as possible (look at Cutthroat's spinning blade debuff on your enemy), perhaps 1 or 2 after your Q, and try to maintain a notion of "I have to get out of here" while you're at it. If you take your time with autoattacks, Xerath's E will come back and he'll stun you. A stunned Talon is a sad Talon. Don't get yourself into trouble like that.

4. Learn to juke well and avoid skillshots on the way back behind your minions.
Your movespeed is too slow to execute this one and get back behind to that safe spot behind your minions unharmed. You are vulnerable on your way back. After you've made SURE you're not getting ganked and have executed this combo, know that on the way back, after the silence duration is over and the enemy laner's cooldowns are back, he will attempt to harrass you back. Juke it. Be mobile. Be a f**king ninja. Bait swain's snare and run back for a split second. Bait Malzahar's silence to the left and juke to the right.

5. Stay out of turret range unless you're past level 6 and have your ultimate up, or you're 100% certain diving pre-6 will result in a safe kill. You're too squishy and lack escapability to dive anything pre-6.

In Lane

Laning is fun with talon. Try to get a lane with someone who has range like tris. Rake is an amazing harassment. When it comes time to kill your combo is pretty easy.

+ Auto Attack + +

Only do this combo if your sure they won't jump you. Talon is very week to being forced down. So I try to do this combo after I have got them low, and i can just jump into the brush after.

You can normally get a kill at 6, Does so much damage.

If you don't think you can kill anyone in your lane, then try to go for a gank.

Also Last hit minions. What do I mean? It means only hit the minions once before they die to get the gold.

"But that will make them push me to tower and we will lose the lane"

Being at your tower is a good thing, You can pretty much free farm while they cant. Also protects you from ganks and keeps them open to being ganked. I see so many players auto attack. You get more minion kills by last hitting then just auto attacking.

Out of Lane

After your done laning, you want to be ganking as much as you can. When your not ganking your farming and pushing towers.

It is important to remember that the Goal of the game is the nexus, not kills. I can't tell you how many times i see people let towers fall or not push towers when they can because they think they can get a kill. Lets say you get that kill, lets say it was for 500 gold. But your tower falls. Towers give 150 to each player. So you gave them 750 gold and you gave them more map control. Was it worth it? No

The only time where this can be done tends to be in late game. Lets says they have a tryn who is railing people. He has a kill streak of 13 kills. Is it worth killing him if you die? Yes, could your team can make a come back and push while he is down. But I am just making the point that normally a kill is never worth a death.

Now when going for kills, don't use your ult if you don't need to. Yes its very fun but you will be wasting it if you didn't need the damage. "O well its cooldown is short" So? What if you get ganked after that kill. Your ult has many uses and its best to keep it open for when its needed.

In Teamfights

In team fights, your job is to take out the carry. Usually it's a ranged AD carry.

Anyways, here's how I do it:

Flank the enemy if at all possible, and to their carry who will likely be at the back. Ignite them, use Noxian Diplomacy, then Rake them and their allies. As soon as they realise what's going on, pop Shadow Assault and the carry should be dead. Run down the middle and towards your teammates who will be in the midst of the team fight then release your ult and do more damage. Now you're good to head back in and autoattack + + .

If you're teamfighting at baron or at their base (bad idea, but it happens) flash in then Cutthroat to their carry. Follow previous steps. With the Frozen Mallet and Guardian Angel you can afford to make risky plays like this. Just make sure you focus the one person and not hit the tank. Mercury's Treads are just fantastic for any CC.

Or if you're late to the party because you were pushing a lane or something, dive into the carry once again using Cutthroat and pop Shadow Assault twice to burst massive damage to all the enemies. I've gotten a penta like this.

Ganking

So the laning phase is waning, people have their ults, and you want to roam some. Smart choice! First, push your lane some so you have time to get back after your gank without your tower imploding. Note that this is your most important phase; even if you do poorly laning, if you can pull off a bunch of kills here then you can make up for it and set yourself up for a good lategame.

Second, you need to pick your gank. Tell your team you're ganking and ask them to harass the enemy some so they aren't at full health. After you arrive at the targeted lane, park in the bush and wait for the right moment.

Sometimes the guy you want is just a little too far away from your bush for a straight initiation. This is exactly why we took Flash. The combo of flash and Cutthroat has surprising range, and can get you onto so many targets it's not even funny. Try it a few times in a bot game first to get the feel though, just to make sure you don't blow flash for nothing :P

Kill combo is the same as laning. You have solid AoE potential so gank duo lanes if you can, helps spread your burst and can contribute significantly to a double kill.

Summary:

+ Tell your team first, to let them prepare
+ Combo is the same as above
+ Flash> Cutthroat gives you very long reach if you need it
+ Duo lanes are the best targets since you deal strong AoE

Early Game

Talon's early game is weak, but he begins to pick up the pace as an assassin in mid game. Until level 6, and until you recall for a Brutalizer, wards and potions, you will need to be extremely careful in how you position yourself in lane. Mostly right now it would be pretty hard to last hit with confidence. Hang back a bit to avoid harrass like Xerath's, and if the enemy laner harrasses via a skillshot like Kennen's Q, just hug your minions to avoid being hit.

Last hit with Rake if you know you can't reach that low health minion, or you know you'll get harrassed if you try. Get to know Rake's damage at it's different levels because it will allow you to get a proper understanding of when to use it.

At levels 1-4, you are very weak. Therefore you will remain passive and try to harrass and keep your opponent away from you via Rake. Do not engage the enemy directly. Just be their ***** for a little while. At levels 4 and onwards, you are competent. You only start truly owning the mid lane on around level 6, but you can start abusing the enemy's cooldowns around now. Keep an eye on the map at all times. Early game is Talon's weakest stage, and getting ganked to death and handing over 1st blood is never good for anybody.

Get your jungler to hand you over the 2nd blue buff, maybe even the first if you have a cooldown or energy-based jungler like Lee Sin or Riven on your team. Blue buff is extremely efficient on Talon with it's massive mana regen and cooldown reduction.

Try to recall only when you have around 1500 gold for a Brutalizer, a few potions and a ward. Get some potions every time you go back. A Brutalizer at around 8-13 minutes is standard issue. Once you have it, you'll start to notice it became much easier to push the enemy laner around. Harrass all the time with Rakes, taking good note of your mana, and once they're around 60% health, jump and burst them down using Ignite.

Keep your map awareness sharp and look especially for what the enemy jungler is doing. Pushing too far will result in getting ganked. You need to know when to restrain yourself and when you are able to go all out.

If your jungler is ganking your lane, wait for a good angle, get in Cutthroat range and let your jungler engage. Immediately jump and burst with all your might. As Talon, you are able to put out alot of damage over an extremely short amount of time, which will make getting kills from ganks very easy for you. Most of the time though, against smart laners, you will see that they hang back once their lane is pushed. That's okay, you don't really need kills early game, but if you keep your farm down you will become underfarmed and eventually useless.

Remember that you don't have to get kills in lane to be successful. Always keep your farm up and try to never miss minions. You can secure a brutalizer and an Infinity Edge at the 18 minute mark easily if you farm well without kills. And that's big. So don't worry about getting kills all the time, it's most important to just concentrate on farming and making gold if you see that you can't get lane kills.

Mid Game

Mid game is where Talon really starts to shine. Remember that at all times you need to keep your map awareness sharp. Ward your lane, push it around up to the turret, secure some free time and start roaming. Talon really has awesome ganking power mid game. Look for a lane that the enemy is pushing and explain to your teammates that you're coming. Tell them to initiate on the enemy, and immediately jump in and burst the enemy down. You might pick up a kill, even a turret if things are working well. Return to your lane and keep pushing it. You can leave the mid laner to their ****, but they'll probably try to follow you around to stop the destruction.

Buy wards and place them around the map. If you see the enemy mid-laner follow you, hang back a bit and let them run towards you. Call the laner(s) you were walking towards or the jungler if he's close by to come to you, and burst the mid-laner down with their help. Continue abusing your advantages to their fullest.

Keep the mid-game objectives in mind. At around this time your team would aim for Dragon. Keep your wits about you and make sure your support has warded the area. By now, if you've faced a strong laner and kept your farm up, you'd have a brutalizer and a BF sword and maybe a pickaxe. Maybe even an Infinity Edge if you've faced a weak one. This is at around the 18-25 minute mark. If you see the other team running towards the area to attempt Dragon, prepare to jump in on them with your team. Dragon's little pond is a tight area, and if they're all fighting at once you will catch most of the other team with your rake and ultimate, which will deal alot of damage along with enabling your team to completely throw them down in a fight.

If you are contesting for Dragon and a teamfight is about to begin, look for a squishy member like the carry to burst down with Ignite and remember the positions his teammates took before you jumped in. Try to figure out how they will react to your jump, and remember the skills every team member on the other team to make sure you will be safe while you're at it. Maybe they'll have a Lee Sin that will Tempest once you're near him and see you while you're running away? Lee Sin is really good against assassins. You don't want that. After you're done, run back to the safety of your team using Shadow Assault's speed boost.

If you're already fighting dragon and the other team is about to come in and stop you, look for when they are tightly grouped and prepare to jump and spam your skills away when the teamfight starts. Again, as Dragon's apartment is a tight area, your immense midgame AOE damage will perhaps cause the enemy team to even back off and give up Dragon, or lose a teamfight against you.

Never be too brave and initiate teamfights. At this stage of the game, if the other team is aware of Talon's abilities, they will have a pink ward somewhere tricky that will stop you from attempting any rambo ****. Just don't risk yourself like that.

Late Game

Late game is talon's strongest area, though it is also the area where you have the most difficulty maximizing your potential, as Oracle's and armor stacking are abound. At this stage of the game you will likely be struggling with the other team for every ounce of gold you can secure, and optimizing your team's battle prowess, which means you will be after:

Turrets
Baron
Dragon
Buffs
Nexus


Here are some helpful tips on playing Talon late game:



Know that Talon has immense pushing power. He is able to destroy structures extremely fast, and besides, if you escape from a lost teamfight with low health, you can dispatch of any enemies who remain with low health after the teamfight and decide to push lanes, most of the time without any trade-off on your end. Talon can handle a 1v2 perfectly as long as it is against champions with very little hard CC, as he is weak against all kinds of crowd control.

Talon's existance is devoted to destroying carries. Remember that, as it is Talon's purpose and his strongest attribute. Take down their carry, win a team fight. Do it with stealth and finesse, and even if you lose, you can sort of cushion the blow as long as the other team doesn't have like 3 tanky members left that will dive you.

Spam your Q on EVERYTHING. Noxian is a great form of diplomacy. Especially against carrys and structures.

Try to obtain blue buff as soon as it is available. The massive cooldown reduction and mana regeneration will assist you in lifestealing before teamfights by spamming Q on minions and jungle creeps. Your participation in teamfights is by far more effective as well, because you will have a much shorter cooldown time on your ultimate. The faster it comes off cooldown, the more often you are able to perform dangerous tasks like going in and obliterating a champion.

Stay on edge at all times and never face check brushes. You'll never know when the other team will attempt to pull a dirty little trick on you and rape you when you step into a brush. This is why warding is extremely important, as a team that's camping in the brush can be instantly destroyed by the enemy team if they know they're there.

You are SQUISHY! Avoid getting poked at by AP carries with long range such as Lux, Xerath and the likes. A fed lux will likely destroy you before you have the chance to escape one of her snares if she has good warding and sees you coming. If you get caught by too many pokes and your health drops low, you may not be able to participate in the upcoming teamfight, which is a failure on your part. Driving home a member of the enemy team by poking will allow you a serious advantage as long as they are regrouping, and you can pick up Dragon or even Baron when they are. The same principle applies to your team as well.

Ranked Play/Team Comp

As previously stated, Talon is an extremely situational pick in ranked. Don't even think about playing him if you don't already have a solid AP champ on the team going somewhere other than mid.

Champions that synergize well with Talon:

Diana
Rumble
Singed
Elise
Cho'Gath
Kennen
Ryze


Be very careful with Elise, as that will leave you with two exceptionally squishy champs, not including your ADC. It can still work if you have your jungler and support have a lot of tankiness/CC. If you've got a squishy top, make sure your AD carry has a lot of mobility.

The most important thing to have on a team with Talon besides a tanky AP champ is crowd control. Diana is my favorite champ to have alongside Talon because she's tanky, deals a lot of damage, and has good CC. Use a jungler such as Maokai, Skarner, or Amumu. All of them are tanky AP champs with hard CC and lots of utility. Lee Sin and Shyvana are bad ideas because they lack hard CC (excluding Lee's ult). Some good ideas for supports are Taric, Leona, and Alistar. Stay away from Sona and Soraka. Sona can still be an okay choice because of her ult, but her squishiness and general lack of CC hold her back. Keep in mind, this is solely in regards to team comps for Talon. Sona, Lee Sin, Shyvana, and Soraka are all excellent champions and can fit in with many good team comps, but they simply don't synergize well with Talon.

So, what do we need in regards to team comp?

If you're planning on playing Talon, your team needs to essentially be built around him, while still maintaining its integrity as a viable comp. Of course, all of this doesn't even include what the enemy team is picking.

A toooo tanky mid
More than two tanky champions
Hard CC/Shields/Heals
Shen or Malphite


As you can probably tell, the big issue with Talon is that a lot of conditions have to be met in order for him to be a viable pick in ranked. However, with the right team comp on both sides, Talon can be an incredibly effective assassin and will carry the team under the right circumstances.

If you're unsure about whether or not you should play Talon, then don't.

It's far too easy to get counterpicked and shut down if you don't know what you're doing. Unless you've got a lot of practice with Talon and are confident in your abilities to outplay your enemy and adapt to a multitude of situations, I would recommend sticking to normals with him.

How to play Talon

First and foremost, Talon is a mid champion. He's very ineffective in the jungle because of his low sustain and squishiness, and he has a lot of trouble top lane due to the fact that bruisers tend to build armor. Thus, the obvious place to send him is mid. If you plan on playing Talon, it is very helpful to have an AP top/jungler, otherwise the opponent is more likely to build armor. Even with The Black Cleaver/ Last Whisper, Talon still has a lot of trouble against opponents that build armor. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH.

"But wait!" you might say. "If Talon doesn't need movement speed, why do you recommend MS Quints?"

Good question. There's a few reasons for that. First and foremost, this guide assumes that you're an average player that doesn't need, want, or have time to create champion-specific rune pages. MS Quints are the best overall choice for Quintessences, especially for mid champions. The other reason is because MS Quints and Tier 2 boots will give you all the movement speed you'll ever require. You'll be fast enough to keep up with or chase down most champions, and you'll be able to effectively dodge skillshots. Finally, building any extra movement speed items will severely gimp your damage. As with any AD caster/assassin, Talon needs all the AD he can get, so you'll want to build as effectively as possible.

Generally, you'll want to poke them down with Rake, then Cutthroat on top of them, autoattack once, Noxian Diplomacy, then Rake. Get autoattacks in as much as possible, because they add to your burst. If you need to finish them off or escape, use Shadow Assault. Remember that Noxian Diplomacy resets your autoattack, so attacking once, then using Noxian Diplomacy immediately afterward will give you the most damage output. This is also good to use against turrets and creeps.

Note: I find it difficult to land Rake if your opponent doesn't move after you start attacking them. It's absolutely vital to land this, so you may want to move a very short distance away from them or wait for them to start running before you use it. Smartcasting also helps tremendously.

One very important thing to remember is that you shouldn't rely on the silence from Cutthroat. It has a very short duration, and oftentimes the enemy won't even notice. However, you can generally kill someone before they even have time to react, so this isn't a huge issue.

In teamfights, you'll want to locate their squishiest person and unload on them. Don't be afraid to jump into the middle of the enemy team once you get enough AD. By the time they react, you'll have already killed your target and used Shadow Assault to escape if necessary. Shadow Assault and Rake deal respectable AoE damage, so chances are you'll take out a pretty good chunk of health from everyone else in the area as well.

Once you've blown your cooldowns, you need to leave the danger zone immediately. If Shadow Assault is down, you're much more vulnerable. Wait for your abilities to come back up, and jump on anybody you can kill. At this point, the enemy team will have either backed off or killed you and the rest of your teammates. Choosing who to focus in teamfights is one of the most important aspects of being a good Talon player.

I'm in agreement with most of the other comments, Trinity Force calculations over ten seconds are pointless; if you're fighting a single champion for anywhere near 10 seconds solid, something's gone terribly wrong (maybe you're behind in items or something, which seems likely if your first big item was a Triforce).

The biggest benefit of Triforce here is just the sheen proc. You'll start off your burst with E>Q combo (one proc, since you don't want to wait for the passive to come off cooldown), and W usually comes right after (again, probably within the two-second cooldown, so no proc again). You could intentionally delay your W to get an extra proc, but unless the Phage effect triggered, that's risking letting them get away from you. (W has a bigger slow, and can often reach them even after a flash.)

If we want to be greedy, you can wait ANOTHER two seconds and get a third proc from R, but this also means we're not disengaging at all. We'll be realistic here and stick with two procs, assuming you're not going kamikaze on their carry.



So if we're only getting two procs... that's an extra 159 damage from the procs, and a grand total of 188 AD overall (brutalizer+triforce+runes+masteries+base). If we add all the bonus AD (+82) to his skills - which all have a bonus AD ratio - and assume we're landing everything for the full amount (6s bleed, W and R hitting twice), that's a grand total of 369 (AD ratios) + 318 (two procs) = 687 extra damage overall.



Let's pick up a BT instead of the Triforce. Aside from the fact that we're getting it a good 800g earlier, our AD is now at 260 (220 if we haven't bothered to farm any stacks, which should be easy with Rake). Same calculations as before, now we have a full 693 damage from our AD ratios alone. The downside is the BT stacks required for this; we're dipping a bit below Triforce's damage without stacks. The upside is that we accelerated our build considerably, gave ourselves sustain with lifesteal, and - most importantly - there's no need to wait for Triforce's proc cooldown anymore, so we can unload our entire skillbar in just a few seconds.

By the time E's silence wears off and they can flash, you've already landed Q, and maybe even W twice. If you want to wait for the second proc, you're relying on them not having flash up. (and if you go for the quick-burst, you can subtract 159 from Triforce's burst. Ouch, now an unstacked BT is in the lead.



Of course, it's not all numbers; Triforce still gives some MS and AS (could equal an extra autoattack if you get a chance to stick on them after the burst), a small crit chance (which could boost your burst considerably if you get lucky), and extra mana+health, which is always nice. It also lets you build Phage and/or Zeal during the laning phase, though I'd say this isn't much of an advantage (the BT route lets you get Vamp. Scepter earlier, and a BF Sword afterwards).

Talon is no auto attack champion more a go in burst get out so calculations on auto attacks over 10 seconds seem a bit silly to me.

Trinity Force is way too expensive for talon and the stats are not really good for talon only 30 ad. Sheen proc/Phage proc is not that worth i would build bloodthirster instead

The problem with this guide is Trinity Force, you did the maths which prove us that it's better than a infinity edge. But in reality, are u going to get to attack for 10 secs in a team fight? If you can't burst down a carry with in 5 secs, all u are going to get is CCs and burisers in your face, oh and u are squishy. Also your maths is not 100% correct, since you get 50 more AD with infinity edge, which increase the Dmg of W,Q, and uti. So infinity edge wins by far. A early sheen is understandable but a trinity is a big NO on talon, you are not a tank mate, u can't do sustained damage, u can achieve that with trinity but what's the point playing talon then???
