Introduction

Hello ladies and gentlemen!

I 'm iPLAY Nuke (or iPLAY Nuke TV which is my streaming account) and a german platinum player on EU-W!

I am playing a very agressive game and will detail on how to play Syndra as a glasscannon.

I am a caster player with over 2k games in normals and custom games and over 800 ranked games in both seasons together on just 2 of my accounts. I only play on EU-W and PBE and mained Caster since I chose to work on playing every champ out there as a caster if he is designed for it or not. You will find me playing AP Garen or Rammus in mid lane besides playing standard Caster like Ahri, Morgana etc. This allows me to have a good view on how to build champs as casters.

I definetly like the influence I can have as a solo laner to the other games. I prefer playing a 1vs1 because I am very aggressive and tend to overextend 75% of the time. This is compared with a really risky playstile a "high risk - high reward" situation.

This is my first guide on solomid.net (a short guide, i m currently working on a really long guide for brand which will be going for approved since i m detailing everything i made as experiences while playing my main Brand, the burning vengeance. The guide is currently about 70 Word pages long and will still extend) but I've written a lot of guides before, but mostly only for my Clanmates. You will be allowed to add me ingame for questions if you dont like to post below or I am unavaible for unknown reason. We will also be able to discuss this guide or general playstile in TS3 or skype if you want. Just message me here or ingame.

I am definetly open for suggestions but dont think just because you play Syndra in another way and write it down below, that I will change my build for e.g. This build is designed for my playstile and my Syndra is working out this way really well (played her since release on PBE). Your build might be working for you and I dont mind if you mention it below so that everyone reading this guide and its comments is able to see your playstile and try out different stiles.

My playstile is not working for everybody and i dont have a secret mixture or hidden recipe on how to get to 2.5k elo or something but I just feel that some guides on solomid.net aren't just as detailed as I like to see them. We definetly have already another Syndra guide but i feel that one is really bad so i decided to give a quick overview for you since i can copy some stuff from my brand guide and you still have some pages to read and not just a build and thats it.

I might sound arrogant to you but it is definetly not wanted, I just lack the skill to let it sound as i intend to so just forgive me my bad english skills and try to figure out what I am talking about and if you cant just ask me in the question section below.

But now let us start off into a quick overview about Syndra, the dark sovereign!

Special Thanks

This section is for all of my helping angels. Proofreaders, inspiring people and all guys who really helped me to improve this guide in the one or the other way!

Here a "recruitment" text for proof readers :)

Another big thing I want to ask YOU is, if somebody who speaks english as a native language or knows the grammar, spelling etc really well, is interested to proofread this guide. I really need somebody who can spend some time and tell me where i made mistakes and how i should improve this. Its basicly a requirement to get this guide approved and the only thing i cant do on my own. So please help me if you can sacrifice some time! I will not forget you!!!

Thanks to:

 • Bakano to point out that I should mention something about MS Quints which is definetly something I didnt think about including it into the guide during my writing time.

 • MystiqTakeno because he mentioned to put in the AD Ez section which i clearly forgot.

 • nainoax3 for making me think about a section "What Syndra can throw"

 • Drakelode for mentioning the Tear of goddess as a viable itemchoice in some situations

 • All people who leave a worthy comment and rated this guide to get it more known!

 • All players and readers of LoveLol.de - the first german LoL Community page!

 • My Clanmates who asked very good questions during the closed beta version of this guide, which I
mostly included in several subsections!

 • I prefer going 21 0 9 to grab longer blue buff for a better roaming and spamming! Also 21 in offense tree to get most damage out of it. Although the current meta is going for 3 AD i personally take every AP I can to get the most damage out of it. It would be wrong to argue that i dont deal that much physical damage because I am a harass player and I would greatly benefit from 3 AD on my auto hits. The main reason why i dont take it is that i dont deal any auto hit damage later on and its only use is in early game but I personally feel to have enough damage early on. I also dont need it for better lasthitting because 3 ad isnt much and you last hit with your spells once you get blue and also a minionwave is cleared fast at lvl 4 wherefore do i need auto hit damage except harrassing my enemy? 3 ad holy sh.t he will for sure die to my 59 ad instead of 56... no serious 3ad is not much of a difference but 3 ap benefits all my spells though it isnt much of a difference either.

Why do I pick different masteries then most other players? I'll explain this:

 • Why do I pick Havoc over 3 AD or other viable Masteries? The same reason why i pick 3 ap over ad applies here. Havoc increases EVERY damage i do. even my AD so in late game you will probably have about 100 ad or sth. This means havoc gives you 1.5 ad bonus > 50% of 3ad BUT havoc increases ALL your damage. Your spells scale not this good so I pick everything i can get to improve my damage.

 • Another thing I was pointed at is why I go for the mreg masteries instead of 3 more points in movementspeed. Generally you will have about below 400 movespeed. 400 ms would give you 2.0* 4 = 8ms so 8 more movementspeed for 4 points... well no deal for me. The numbers are against it. I wont spend one point for just 2 movementspeed each. give me 10 on every point and yeah I would take it definetly. But because of those low numbers I will take mreg to be able to cast more spells. I believe if you are going for ms quints which some players do, you can take this mastery. I feel its personal preference and I myself find the numbers as an argument against taking it.

Take what you prefer and lets go on to the runes:

Runes

Those are my standard Caster Runes. Hybrid Pen marks allow for slightly easier last hitting but way better poke with auto hits. You only loose about 2% dmg in magical dmg early on while gaining 10% more physical damage (approximately). This means it is over all a worthy trade and i recommend going for it. You can also just stick with standard magic pen but hybrid pen is better, at least mathematically.

Runes are standard for a lot of casters. 10mpen to get together with your sorcerer boots 30mpen and deal true damage with most of your spells to most champs. Only and single reason to pick them.

If there are questions on why to pick those runes I will be glad to detail you why i picked them just ask me but I feel like its pretty standard stuff except those 2 mpen glyphs. (I m sorry that this guide will currently not be as detailed as it could but I just want to give you a quick overview and just cause the other guide for Syndra really is none. So basicly i want to give you a real guide before playing her! Now lets go on to Summoners:

Summoner Spells

Explanation:
Ignite Flash is my basic build. I wont exchange it unless i play against: Veigar (prefer cleanse there), hard cc team, or a 1shot carry who might go and zone you (can consider heal) or if you will roam all day for whatever reason / u are used to play with it -> go ahead take TP

For all people asking why to take flash just watch this:

 • You can exchange them but I will not discuss another playstile covered by other summoner spells! Be reminded that every item and every spell and even the champ you pick, the enemy team picks and your own teams picks determine another playstile. You can't be successful if you go 1 single straight route. I will try and cover as many situations as you may experience but even I havent experienced everything yet and wont be able to help you in some situations so in that case its just practice and experience you made on your own and the choice of adepting to every step made in the game.

 • There is always an optimal route you can go but LoL is only maths and i fear no one has the time to sit near you and calculate wheter a dorans ring is better or a dorans shield to build next. In most situations the ring will beat the shield but not in all and you can calculate those situations but no one has the time to do so while playing. So what I will teach you is how to adept. (summoners are not for discussion even though I talk about adepting a lot :) )

Skills

Latest Patch Notes:
All in all Syndra seemed to be too weak for Riot so they even buffed her in general. Here is the current Patch Notes:

Force of Will
 • Now grabs nearest Dark Sphere in range if no valid target selected
 • Grab time reduced to 0.25 seconds from 0.33
 • Throw commands given during the grab time now execute immediately after the grab finishes
 • Fixed a bug where minions/Dark Spheres being pulled could get stuck on terrain

Scatter the Weak
 • Dark Spheres that have nearly finished casting will now get knocked back once they arrive
 • Fixed a bug where units hit by both Scatter the Weak and an affected Dark Sphere would be knocked
back but not stunned

Unleashed Power
 • Spell shields will now only block a single sphere rather than the entire spell
 • Now also pulls in spheres cast just before the start of Unleashed Power
 • Fixed a bug where Unleashed Power would go on cooldown if the target died before the cast animation
completed

Commentary:
The Shadow Isles Patch offers a lot of Buffs for Syndra again. This time we are getting really big buffs even though you might not see it at first sight. Handling her W is easier now for all who had problems with it eventually (i never had mhm). The grab time got slightly reduced so you wont notice a great difference there. BUT your W W combo is now coming off faster and smoother which can make a difference in hit or wasted mana. The big difference in damage, stun or incresing orb duration is that when you use your ult or e and cast a q you will get them also used for your spells thogh for e you need to use it the other way round, while for your ult it is enough if you cast a sphere while ulting (cast a sphere onto your enemy while you ult him applying even more dmg. Besides it might be actually possible to get to a 9 orb combo but i got to run the maths for that and are not very motivated yet to do so :)

STATS:
Health Points: 380 (+78 / per level)
Health Regen: 6
Mana Points: 250 (+7.6 / per level)
Mana Regen: 30
Damage: 51 (+3 / per level)
Attack Speed: 0.625 (+2 / per level)
Attack Range: 550
Movement Speed: 305
Armor: 14.5 (+3.5 / per level)
Magic Resistance: 30 (+0 / per level)

Passive: Transcendent
Each of Syndra's basic abilities gain an extra effect at maximum rank.

Explanation:
 • Your spells will get enhanced when reaching max rank. Q gets more Damage to champs, W increases the slow duration by 0.5 to 2 seconds and e increases spell width by 50%. Not the best passive but its giving you full potential at lvl 18. You are delayed in your dmg and utility until you get that lvl. This results in Syndra not beeing an early champ and she can get countered by early dominant champs such as akali, morde, lb, kassa,...

Q: Dark Sphere
Conjures a Dark Sphere at a target location, dealing magic damage. The sphere lasts for up to 6 seconds and can be manipulated by Syndra's other abilities.

Transcendent Bonus: Deals 15% bonus damage against Champions.

Damage increased to 70/110/150/190/230 from 60/100/140/180/220
Ability Power ratio increased to 0.6 from 0.5
Mana cost reduced to 40/50/60/70/80 from 50/60/70/80/90

Explanation:
 • Your basic spell to deal damage and to be used by all other abilities which for sure requires you to max it. Also quite spammable with a low cd. Its doing quite low damage first but when you maxed it its dmg gets noticeble and you should also use this spell not only to hit your opponent but you can also sacrifice some dmg to either set up for a huge burst combo like spammin 3-4 balls and then extend their duration to use an 8 ball combo on an enemy with your ultimate. Some more combinations are explained in the next chapter.

W: Force of Will
Grabs a dark sphere, enemy minion or neutral monster. Dragon and Baron Nashor cannot be grabbed by this ability.

If cast again, throws the grasped Dark Sphere or enemy at a target area. Enemies struck take magic damage and are slowed for 1.5 second.

Transcendent Bonus: Increases the slowing duration to 2 seconds.

Throw Range increased to 950 from 900

Explanation:

 • A champ to manipulate minions and objects around the map. Remember you need use this spell twice. First to grab minions neutrals or a sphere and 2nd to throw it. During the throw the sphere will not leave but can during the dragging option. this way you can delay the disappearing of one sphere by about a second. So you can get up to 7 spheres to be used with your ult, giving you incredible dmg.

Max this spell second WHEN you want to kite or do most damage.

E: Scatter the Weak
Knocks enemies and Dark Spheres back, dealing magic damage to them and any enemies they collide with. The distance of the knockback increases depending on how close the affected units are to Syndra upon cast. Dark Spheres that are knocked back also stun all enemies in their path for 1.5 seconds.

Transcendent Bonus: Spell width increased by 50%.

Range increased to 650 from 600
Missile Speed increased to 2500 from 2000
Improved sphere stun detection when a sphere is first knocked away

Explanation:

 • This spell is really strong in the right use. It gives you a 100% aoe stun on all enemies when you use it combined with your ult etc. during the flight of the spheres they will not disappear giving you at max 7 spheres active probably 8. I m not sure about that.

 • You can max this second i d recommend this when you get forced out of lane or just play a "safe long range farm mode". Set up 2-3 spheres -> e the minion wave throw a sphere / minion -> 6minions are yours. Easiest farm, ensuring you all minions. BUT mana intensive. Consider building Chalice and taking blues all time to get enough mana sustain. Probably even mreg / lvl runes when you want to farm all day and drag lane phase into mid- late even.

R: Unleashed Power
Draws upon Syndra's full cataclysmic power, harnessing all Dark Spheres to deal magic damage per sphere. This spell has a 3 sphere minimum damage, as Syndra uses the three spheres floating around her. All Dark Spheres remain on the ground for 6 seconds after Unleashed Power is used.

Ability Power ratio per sphere increased to 0.2 from 0.15

Explanation:
 • Ouch. This ult hurts when used correctly. Syndra is a high skillcap champion probably one of the hardest casters out there. It needs some games to get used to her but once you master her combos you can go for a 7-8 sphere ult and aoe stun to every enemy with your e.

 • As the description says you get dmg from at least 3 orbs but its better to save some spheres by using spells on them to extend their duration or to create new ones. This way you ll achieve a strong nuke which CAN oneshot enemies with the maximum spheres.

Skill Order

The Skill order depends on how you will have to play. So choose against your opponent and the situation you are in. You can safe farm by maxing e second or go for kite playstile by W 2nd and max dmg.

 • Maxing R whenever possible and take Q at 1 3/4 5 7 9.

 • The only thing you can discuss about Q is if you want it at 3 or 4 to be skilled the 2nd time. Syndras spellkit offers her the option to get all spells at lvl 3 and use them to do hard dmg and set up good ganks.

 • Discussing e or w at lvl 2: depends on your and the enemy jungler -> lvl 2 ganks from either one get e for a pretty safe stun otherwise get W.

For questions and so on just ask me.

Edited:
A lot of people recently flamed me or asked me WHY i max Q over W. The simple reason for it is to improve the CD on Q though the dmg is not this big. But I compensate the dmg by 2 things. A glasscannon build and 2nd by going for an ult combo with more orbs then it would be possible with W maxed first.

I also believe that Q does more dmg then W on max rank because of the 15% buff and because of the increased AP ratio.

Item Builds

Additional possible builds not mentioned in the short overview are those:

____________________________

The tanky way consists of building:

dorans-ringdorans-ring

boots-of-speed going into: mercurys-treads
build a ] afterwards

and start getting a catalyst-the-protector afterwards finish either rod-of-ages or deathfire-grasp

Then go for either zhonyas-hourglass or abyssal-scepter depending on their main damage source and when this item is finished build the next one.

Last but not least choose if you need more damage then build rabadons-deathcap if you need magic pen ->void-staff or if you need none of that you can build a guardian-angel or

____________________________

Viable Items can be:

morellos-evil-tome when you play against Swain, Fiddle etc.

tear-of-the-goddess later build into archangels-staff

chalice-of-harmony build into athenes-unholy-grail (though i m no fan of this but you can build the chalice in almost every game when you want a little bit tankiness and / or are not so experienced in mana management)

hextech-revolver build into will-of-the-ancients by midgame for more sustain (against some champs which depend on poking you down instead of bursting -> ziggs for e.g.

quicksilver-sash one of the best items in the game and probably the best Active ability, cleansing every debuff including exhaust, ignite, malzahar/warwick/skarner/urgot ults, morde ult (so he gets no ghost and his dmg will be reduced by 50% because his ult is split into 2 parts a DoT and a first Nuke.) Consider building QSS against a team with WW skarner etc. Build it always against morde and malza in mid and probably even against Ashe since a 4sec stun arrow from bot lane is making you die against your lane opponent. If you think you can flash dodge those arrows all the time no need but against the other options always build it! Its a better cleanse summoner because it can free you from those suppresses.

Now to my explanations about the different items and reasons for picking them:

The standard item build for a glasscannon focussing on mainly single target (your ult) is like this:
Sorc DFG Rabba Void Zhonyas - GA / LB / Rylais

 • I strongly recommend DFG to one shot your lane enemy. I do usually go this build on most casters. BUT there are other options. As i told i play glasscannons but sometimes you have to adept to not feed or die senselessly. This means -> get QSS against malza / morde, get mercs against veigar / annie probably, get some mr and life (rylais, abyssal, couple dorans) against strong burst (lb for example).

 • A really defensive build can be: Mercs, RoA, DFG, Rylais, Zhonyas, Abyssal. Gives you one of the most tanky builds possible for casters. You can go for a poke oriented combo which would let me set abyssal aside and give you the option to get a WotA for sustain by poking, more burst (exchanging rylais or RoA with rabbadons), more mpen cause they stack (exchange abyssal for voidstaff) or something else like a GA. Good for poke combo or a poke oriented build is Lich bane when you can manage to follow up with an auto attack after your spells (best after stun) so you wont die.

 • Build situationally and DONT always follow a standard route unless you want to end below 1k elo. And i do know players at 500 elo but also at 2.5k elo. If you study the differences or know some by yourself or by watching their streams you will also know a standard build might work most games like 55% but you loose another 45% by getting counterpicked and not adepting.

Always adept to the situation.

 • And think about red potion if you dont have slots for health pots but only wards. Think about early blue potion giving you CDR (huge stat on Syndra probably the best cause it synergizes with a spamm stile and your ult (more spheres more TONS OF DAMAGE, even if you jungle Syndra :P).

 • Blut pot is strong to be used be4 dragon / nash fights or if you want to extend your lane dominance, get stronger ganks or if you think you fall behind slightly (enemy got a kill and you not but famr is equal -> he got more gold to be invested into something like 15-20ap, with a blue pot you get the same amount and CDR -> allows you to keep up for 4 minutes by investing less then he got for a kill)

Edited Section:
Varieties for special champs or viable itembuilds:

 • You dont have to follow my build. As I said its a standard build and i recommend it in most games but not in all. Last game (about 5mins ago when riot crushed the servers at least on EU) I had to play against Diana in mid. To make sure I win my lane and dont feed since we all know that a fed diana is probably one of the things you dont like, i adepted my build.

 • Diana is a champ which either depends on a lot of burst damage (if going DFG route, which my diana did) or on poke (with a more tanky build like roa, abyssal etc something like this).

 • Diana is hard to handle but i feel that it was pretty easy with Syndra. I havent had much time training against diana so i decided to go a safe way and build the chalice. It helped quite well since i was not getting bursted with 70 mr and got big mana reg which was really nice since they took my blue 2 times and jungler wasnt really focussing on defending it.

Thanks to the first few comments and the feedback i decided to offer some alternative itembuilds. Those are mostly depending on your enemy and the above story was just to illustrate why i chose to explain this item build section now even more in depth.

So to start off I want to say that there are different ways. The first alternative route i want to show is a bit more tanky.

 • Start items are the same (boots 2hp 1mp). Then I would build 2 dorans and a chalice. This gives you 160 life and 30 mr which is a huge bit of tankyness. Usually I d say thats enough sustain against most aps but well sometimes you have to play against 1shot wonders like leblanc veigar etc where some more mr can be saving lifes. Then you build Mercury threads. It helps against veigar a lot (more detailed in match up section). So if you need or want even more tankiness I would consider buildin Abyssal against hard burst champs or some duo / triple ap combs. But when you build really tanky you automatically swap some stats into defense and you could have them in offense. this leads me to the conclusion that you should build another offensive item which is very cheap so that you can finish it without delaying your damage too much. This item is in almost all cases a DFG. Afterwards if you want to go really tanky i believe that chalice can be build into athenes. Rabbadons is another good dmg option and rylais a hybrid option a good mix between defense offense and a nice chunk of utility.

 • One of my last games I played against another kind of Syndra player. He started with 12mr in runes and went straight for Chalice and a negatron afterwards. thus he still dealt tons of damage. going to test it over and over because this build seems viable even though it didnt convince me during pbe. final build of her was dfg, chalice, abyssal, rabbadons. thats when the game ended cause we won, even though i had a pretty big problem 1vs1 her.

Early Game

Farm up, and go for fast and short trades. Lvl 3 is a key where you can go nearly all-in. After 3 you cna go for poke by Q or W the enemy or even stun him to go q w q.

Some combos:

Q -> e then q w q
(remember to auto hit in between cds which you will have early on unless you got like blue, blue potion and full cdr runes which might even work though i wont recommend it)

W (minion) - Q - E - q -> slowing the enemy to hit your E easily.

Those combos are without ult.

 • At 6 you can do both combos and finish with ignite + ult probably. Try to get 6 orbs to do even more dmg. If you hit those combos and all spells your enemy is 100 - 0 or just lives barely.

 • Try to be the one who initiates trades and get a stun on your enemy. a stunned enemy cant trade back thus you win the trade all the time.

Poke your enemy to 60% get a combo off and finish him.

 • I know that it's freaking hard to harrass with Syndra since all of her spells have a quite short range and not even a good aoe but well its all about practice and even though i played her a lot i still had a game where i went 1 8 in ranked. i didnt do well at all lost against annie mid which is probably a counter but still. well we won that game just cause even though i failed hard my openings with long range aoe stuns where pretty hard and our ad was left alone to get his quadras. just dont rage when you cant manage to hit the spells at first. Sometimes its really hard. and this annie had even ms quints and skilled it. fuckin annoying when she runs like 420 ms ... try to hit something. well to counter this you should just force a stun by sacrificing one of you q spells damage to set it just in front, then shoot it on the enemy with e and get a w q w combo off. retreat afterwards cause as long as you stun sb you win a trade.

Mid Game

 • Control your lane, control drag and go and roam. Your big strength is to roam since you have hard cc and minor cc + big dmg.

Ask where wards are evade them and gank. sometimes you should just run through enemy jungle and dive or gank from behind (depends on the side you are playing on)

Dragon is key. Here a copied section from my brand guide i m working on:

Mid Game is, when Objectives become a huge impact in the flow of the game. Generally you will define mid game as the stage where the first bigger team fights happen to conquer or steal objects like enemy blue / red or dragon. This is about level 6-7 until the first team is going in full team all time which should be around 20minutes. In general you will have about 10-20minutes where you will be in mid game stage.

During this stage you should obviously compete over dragon and buffs. Wards and counterwards are very important. Try to communicate with your team to ward dragon area and sneak it. If you see the enemy jungler ganking top and the rest of your team is around dragon ping for it and take it. Nothing is as easy as taking a dragon without the fear of getting it smited. You should also go for dragon when you took down mid lane, bot lane or the enemy jungler while you re in the bottom half of the map. If the enemies decide to fight better spam your spells in their direction (and obviously try to hit) to harrass them before a fight breaks out. you should usually position in the dragon pit when you haveflash up because you can escape in 5 directions from there on or even 6 if you risk flashing and running through the enemy team. DONT do this if the enemies are near with galio and zyra or sth like this. selfmurder is not a good thing to consider while fighting.

Whenever you will go for dragon make sure to have asked if you will finish it or if you will turn and focus one of the enemies and if you do that WHOM do you focus! thats important to know because some people think "lets get dragon its only 2k left" and some think "oh sh.t we got to fight now better kill corki" while your tank might think "wtf how shall i protect them and do dragon in the meantime. and why do my carries still hit the dragon ffs". So my advice is: communicate before going for objectives. Nothing is loosing your game faster then not having enough damage to kill them because everybody focussed somebody else and all enemies are at 200 life but all of you are dead.

 • In the meantime when not going for Teamfights you will have the goal to farm up as much as you can and especially go roam. Syndra is a strong ganker when you know how to utilize her spells. This will be covered in one of the later chapters and I will give you some infos about it here and there.

 • Mid game is pretty much the same as early game unless that you will roam more often, take objectives and will have to farm besides doing all this. A good player is a player who has a lot of farm WHILE ganking very often and very unpredictable and also saving objects for your team. You will need a lot of practice on when to roam, and how to farm while roaming.

Late Game

Late game is all about teamfights and objectives.

 • Usually its after 20 minutes and only seldomly you ll see somebody farming a lane. Most action is around dragon buffs and baron. Get traps for the enemy team and lure them into it to get a free ace while taking nashor and inhibs. Basic stuff. Late game tips are: stay behind your tanks, do not face check brushes unless you know 300% there cant be an enemy. Get oracles for your team and wards. Do not forget to buy wards and use them. Focus the enemy AD if you can or if not the ap. Teamfighting is detailed in the next chapter. (doesnt mean AP carry is the one who has oracles. definetly not. but when your build is full you can get one)

 • Since in late it is hard to get a kill on an enemy you should try to farm farm farm whenever possible. This means you use your spells to get creeps from a long distance while backing off immediately afterwards to not get picked off. A 5vs4 will usually result in a nashor attempt. So better hope your jungler knows how to smite steal and theirs used it for a wraiths or sth right before. If you are besieging each other try to set up Q E combos on a target which your team can quickly shut down. If you get caught and will for sure die unless god saves you, you should turn and do as much damage as possible while trying to escape afterwards. You might die but at least 2-3 enemies are low on life! they will probably loose a baron fight when they attempt to go for it. So you even helped your team while you died. (though dying is always worse then living and going for a 5vs5 at baron!)

Team Fights

 • Teamfights are a big point in League of Legends unless your team is going for a pusher combo. If your team is heading for: Sivir, Blitz, Heimer, Yi etc. it would be a good choice to NOT pick Syndra but something that fits into your combo (like Nasus for e.g.).

 • But if you dont go for a pusher combo you will have to go for teamfights and will want to force the enemies to fight. This is where Syndra shines out as a strong Caster in the game with the right setup. Syndra can be compared to ryze and veigar. Ryze got constant damage and veigar got huge burst. In fact you got both. But one results in the other. So you are playing a mix of this meaning you can setup your orbs and spheres to then get a huge burst off with DFG and ult instagibbing one of the enemies.

 • Syndras goal in teamfights is to deal damage to the main target and protecting your teammates. You are no AOE monster like Brand and no 200->0 nuker like Veigar. Follow your teams focus and kill the main target. I m going to add a video where i show some examples. Your positioning is a key to success. Since you are no real nuker but have to build up orbs to unleash devastating power your goal is to stay alive until you can build enough damage to one shot one of them.

 • If you need to fast kill one target and dont have the time to build orbs you should consider just using all spells on the main target including DFG and hope that this is enough to kill it with the help of your teammates. When you have done this you ll most likely have a good amount of cd on everything which makes it hard to help your team. But you can stil lbuild up orbs and use your utility to protect your ad carry. This is your 2nd goal. Syndra is no champ to get penta kills with but shines throughout the game with her protecting abilities and should be played as a half support like lux and orianna. You can compare her teamfightbehaviour with those champs because both cant spam everything but can slow snare or shield your ad carry. Syndra can stun, slow knockback the enemies from your ad which is why you position close to your ad carry but far enough away to not die from possible aoe.

Going to include a video here to show some scenes of my games.

Match ups (1)!

This section will cover most standard mid lanes for the beginning and will be fulfilled covering every champion and playstile in some time. You might also suggest some Matchups and how you handle them.

VS

Usually you will only see a few or the most common match ups in any guide. But because I know how to play every champ in mid and every champ on AP I will also use my knowledge to tell you how to play against every single champ which you COULD encounter in mid lane. I know you will not encounter AP Garen or AP Olaf very often but once you might and when you see it you can probably remember one of my tips and this wins you the game. That's what I personally hope. I am not writing a guide to show how good I am or how bad but to get YOU to play Syndra and to learn from a player who practiced her a lot on Betaserver since she came out and knows how to play every single champ on AP.

I want YOU to benefit from my knowledge so please excuse me for this section beeing a little bit longer then you are used to. It will be the main part of this guide because as i told already a thousand times, everything is situational. I could write a book over how to play against every single champ in mid and might be if I get an offer to do so I even would consider writing one.

Note: Difficulty levels assume the other player is of equal skill (its still my personal feeling on how I do against those champs).

HARD
 • Ahri is currently one of the strongest picks for mid lane and if she's smart you wont beat her as you usually would most other lanes. Dodge her spells, do fake movements and turn in a complete other direction. A tip for dodging any kind of skillshot is to try and retreat in 90° from it. This is the shortest possible Way to dodge a spell. If you can't dodge that spell go towards her and trade because free spells on you are loosing you the trade immediatly. This or that way Ahri is a pain to encounter in lane.

 • You might outshine her in Teamfights and Ganks but only when Ahri isnt roaming as she should. Try to take advantage of your early poke (stun her be4 using other spells or she will try to cc you also) and if you cant kill her because she outsustains you, just try to get wards in the enemy jungle and steal the junglers creeps and gank him all the time. MOST junglers will fall behind when you gank them. So why get beaten by Ahri in lane when you can outshine her by a better overall gameplay?

 • I usually trade 3-4 minutes in early to get a feeling if ahri is good or not and then choose to either dominate my lane or roam and babysit my other lanes and camp the enemy jungler. The bonus you have from camping the enemy jungler is that he wont be able to gank your other lanes, because you shoot him low all the time. DO NOT GET CAUGHT. If ahri is any good at all she will follow up and probably even place defensive wards.

 • Think about using a combo from behind the wall of the wraiths camp.(when the jungler does his wraiths -> effect is that you will get wraiths and free damage on the enemy jungler which lets him stay in jungle or play more defensive on ganks.

HARD
 • Akali is one of the strongest burst champs past 6 and one of the best lvl 1-3. Good thing you're also a strong early-mid Champ BUT just for short dmg trades. The only problem you can get is when Akali is jumping on you. When I play Akali I will throw Q on you and w8 for the cd to be ready again. then simply r auto hit AND what is important I will make a step to the side to not get stunned. If i realise Syndra or any other AP knows this and anticipates I will probably burn flash to come behind them when they want to use some form of hard cc. Then Q again use E 2* ult and if you have no MR / life and probably already 2 dorans you will be most likely dead.

 • Most Players you encounter aren't this smart and wont make the step to the side to dodge the stun / cc. Those wont be a big problem.

 • When Akali jumps simply stun her and drop a full combo onto her. if she survives it you should probably retreat to your turret because she wont dive you with low life.

 • The biggest advantage for you is the Early Game. Whenever she goes for a last hit simply drop a spell on her. Her Q is a pain but it doesnt outdamage your spells because of your CC and longer range. Dont get her to trigger it (just stun her when she tries and retreat. otherwise you might loose the lane and you know akali snowballs horribly).

 • When she Shrouds with W just drop a W on it and the minions. When she attacks she is visible for a short time.

 • You can also follow up with Q and E but against an invis champ its hard to hit it and i better dont get myself into danger of her bursting me down.

 • Past 6 she CAN be a pain. If akali gets fed she s one of the best snowballing champs ingame. Do not allow this. A trick which I use against akali players is to drop a Q in front of me and shoot an E so while she jumps she will land directly in your stun combo without hurting you! For me this is the best to handle akali together with harassing her whenever you can.

EASY
 • Alistar isnt played as a mid laner since his dmg and ratio nerfs. Still you might encounter him and it would be good to know what to do. Facts are that Ali is a melee. He has a heal and 2ccs + nearly invulnerability to damage past 6, also breaking ccs. So in fact ali has a strong spellkit concerning his utility. His damage isnt this big anymore so he has to build dfg and lb. Before he got this you can handle him easily.

 • Punish him for trying to last hit minions in early and continue as long as possible. BUT we all know how devestating a W + Q combo from Ali can be . Thats the reason why you WILL have to ward all the time to not get ganked. On his own Ali on AP is no fear but when he has a strong dps jungler you will get crushed when getting caught in his ccs. to avoid this you can flash while he headbutts avoiding the cc and sometimes even the damage. But afterwards alistar will still have his combo and you dont have a flash for nearly an hour. And i grant you that this time can feel even more than an hour. Getting camped after a burned flash for the whole duration of its cd is probably the worst experience you can make against a lane enemy who has a lot of cc on short cds. After burning a flash go for long range farm mode.

 • You can also go for a more defensive oriented build because Alistar has 2 items he is forced to build to do anything otherwise he wont be a threat for anyone not even the support or minions. This way you can counter building dfg and lb on him by simply taking a Chalive of Harmony and probably building a Banshees.

EASY
 • Seldomly seen in mid but if you see him you will have to adept your playstile because an ap mummy CAN hurt badly, even after the nerf. usually he will go for sorcs / mercs and abyssal as first items sometimes also for dfg early. do not fight him when you are both full life because you will loose the trades. simply poke him down with your spells from behind the minions so he cant use his bandage toss.

 • In the first few levels you have the biggest advantage because he wont be able to last hit any minion when you are experienced enough. simply blow all spells on him whenever he is in range. if he outsustains this he must have gone for a ton of potions or a health regen playstile. also uncommon and can cause troubles but as a good Syndra you will be able to handle this. health regen is always lower than your poke which means that you will simply have to spend more spells on him get him lower.

HEADS UP
 • Push anivia into her turret right from level 2 onwards. Ward enemies blue and catch her when she is trying to get it. In lane you will want to avoid her stun or get bursted. A good anivia is stun walling you, which means that she will abuse the pathfinding by using a wall directly in front of you and anticipating the pathing with shooting a stun near that position before using the wall. you will not be able to react this fast sometimes unless you press "S" immediately.

 • Do not get caught in between her and a wall if its a normal one of an ice wall because this will really hurt. A strong anivia is also using her E spell first and afterwards pressing ult on off. this will double the damage you get and doe cost nearly no mana. BUT here is the key. If you dont fear to trade some of your life for a lot of hers simply use a q and shoot a at her when she runs towards you. Getting her stunned will negate all her damage and you get a free W spell + autohit on her and retreat afterwards. Most anivias can be countered this way but sometimes they will send a stun the same time when you stun her. this is also fine as long as you IMMEDIATELY retreat afterwards without getting any further damage.

 • In pro plays you will have to be aware of so called EGG baites. This does not mean anything else than that anivia will hit you for some damage and trade her egg for it. when you will want to kill her the jungler will come in and kill you or force your summoners. this mostly happens when both laners are low at health.

HEADS UP / HARD
 • Evade her stun q combo and abuse your longer range. when she runs towards you give her a stun in the face. if she flash tibbers you are probably dead UNLESS you are able to flash away in time. THIS is possible and will win you the lane. if you dodge a tibers flash stun with yours immediately turn around and put all the damage on her. she just has 3 spells includign ignite and a little bear doing nothing. when you can make her fail her ult you will win every trade and usually kill her. Care when she builds for dfg. she can flash W stun and you wont be able to evade this with flash. then dfg tibbers q and you are 200% dead.

 • Basicly you can win this lane if playing smart but a good annie will give you a hard time and the lane will be equal. so freeze the lane and farm. get a jungler to gank her and when you are ahead simply overextend and abuse this. do not get caught in stuns cant mention this enough. think about her ult because it has a really low cd and if she is low but has stun dont go for her make her use her stun on minions and then go. she might have tibbers but at least you wont get bursted while beeing unable to trade back.

 • Annie bursts so hard dont trade with her or when you want to, just q in front of you use e to stun and get a w q w off then retreat. otherwise she s raping you. build a chalice early or you get insta killed.

EASY
 • One of the weakest midlaners and if going AP most likely a troll build. BUT do not underestimate her damage. On AD she can hurt but you will do more burst and can even keep up in constant dmg when you got some cdr. simply retreat after comboing her when you dont havwe this much CDR yet. care for ganks when she s lvl 6+ this is giving a kill most likely. try to dodge her ult with your flash.

HARD
 • Most people dont even know which damage output blitz is capable of. Do NOT underestimate his damage! If blitz is good you wont ever get a kill on him. The only chance is early game zoning but usually he will ignore your damage and last hit minions. most good ap blitz players will grab your through your minion wave when you stand behind a minion and its going to die from his minions damage. be aware of a hook there. Hook + E do really hurt and if he grabs you into his turret its probably a free kill. After 6 he is doing even more damage. When he has lich bane it is over. you simply cant trade him. his passive is up every minute and giving him a ton of life (through shield). try to kill him when he doesnt have it and call out for ganks. a good blitz is unkillably in 1vs1. and after 6 he insta kills a whole minion wave so you cant make him loose farm from then on. Try to abuse your long range but dodge his hooks. be aware of enemy ganks they can be amazing and will ensure kills unless you flash away from hooks. You cant counter a full stacked blitzcrank. his burst is higher and his sustain is so too (you can consider building a WotA). Abuse early call for ganks and you can win.

HEADS UP
 • Anticipate his movement and try to break even but outshine him in roaming etc. your single target burst is slightly higher or lower depending on where his ult jumps and how often. Brand can be hard but you can always go for a long range farm mode with the E.

EASY
 • Cait mid is seldomly seen. when she goes ap simply avoid running into her traps and dont stand in a straight line with her and without a minion in between. She wont do much on AP as long as you pay attention. More often you will see ad Cait. she has a long range but YOU have more burst. dont fear to trade WHEN your spells are up. dont trade with autohits that would be simply stupid to face an ad carry with just rightclicking him.

HEADS UP
 • Cassio is not a big deal. Dodge her spells and dont run towards her for E spells. better harrass with W Q-E on minions. you cant trade her when she has a rylais. if you run you will die and if you face her in her ult you will die. However I personaly feel that you will almost always win your lane early on. Simply harrass with W and if she hits you with q and follows up running towards you to get E off simply stun and combo her down.

 • This is the most idiotic thing she can do. This lane is basicly a farm lane and the one who knows his champ better and utilizes it in ganking, roaming and farming is able to win. You can always outshine her in a longer range with your spells.

HARD - IMPOSSIBLE
 • AP CHO is amazingly strong since they buffed him. Its only the spell reaction time but this is enough to ensure a sh.tload of damage. You cant kill him if he is not stupid. call for ganks and be aware of them. do not get caught in his Q to often or you will die for sure. True Damage at lvl 6 is not what you want to face. Because he will eat half your max life and with his other 2 spells doing the rest. You can hurt him but dont eat a full combo from him or you are about to die if he hasnt Omnomnomed you already. You can try to poke him down but he has really high sustain, though your constant dmg can force him out of lane and away from cs.

EASY
 • No real problem for you. You can play like a real man / woman because you got way bigger balls I mean spheres! Simply poke him to death and dodge his long range ults. if he engages stun him and kill him. No big issue.

HEADS UP
 • Darius was designed to make life a living hell for every Bruiser. If you dont know it yet bruisers are tanky and designed to hold most damage. But Darius simply crushes them. YOU are NO Bruiser and thus less tanky. Darius is especially good at killing low health and sustain targets . Get grabbed once and you can count on beeing dead unless you have flash and he hasnt. Painful lane if you dont stay away from him. BUT if you abuse your long range you can win early on. when he got hextrinker and he will survive most damage. abuse your range, zone him and farm more then him. push the lane under turret and continue harrassing him there. be aware of ganks.

HARD
 • dodge her q or you die. this easy it is. dont get her fed she snowballs harder than akali. played her on PBE and live server and she just dominates hard. get sustain or die. probably the only matchup where i would consider about 2-3 dorans and roa/banshees or at least a catalyst so she cant instagib you. EDIT: Still her damage is incredible hard even after the nerf but now its managable.

FREE LANE WIN
 • zone him early he cant trade you. stay behind minions and hit him all the time. every autohit counts because his spells cost life and he gets low from using them. harass as much as possible and win early. Bait out his ult and kill him afterwards or when he is low while using it simply burst him. if the jungler comes to gank kill the jungler who is usually less tanky.

HARD
 • An AD with an inbuild AS MS steroid on absolutely no CD . his Axes hurt like nothing else. consider buying zhonyas early. Only trade him when you have all spells up. try to hit stun combos and go out his axes hurt. If you didnt know that his W steroid resets when he catches his axes (which hurt!) you should probably make sure he doesnt want to get them or if he does he runs into your spells (q / e / w). Did I mention his Axes? do avoid trading him when you dont have your spells up cause his axes hurt!

MEDIUM
 • If you encounter her in mid just stay near creeps to see her when she wants to last hit. give her a spell and retreat so you do not get hit by her hate spikes. care if she has a dfg up together with her ult it can drain 50%+ immediately. all in all you should usually win your lane.Simply abuse your poke to not let her invis. Makes it even easier for your mates since they mustnt hold back in fear of getting ganked. Remember to call mia even when she tped back!

MEDIUM
 • Seldomly seen in mid. If he has the new standard skin (Pulsefire) dont worry there is a good chance he cant play ez. still be aware of his W it has a longer range than its animation shows. dodge it and he has no damage. dodge his ult and he does no damage. he got absolutely no damage unless you get hit by his skillshots which you can avoid easily. poke him and win the trades. when he engages with E stun him. if you Q under him you might force an E which makes him loose mana and usually you will still get the damage off before, because his E has cast time.

 • AD Ez is another thing. I edited this section thanks to a comment. By rights this can be played in mid and it is going to be not very funny for you. Ezreals early is currently the strongest of all ADs and riot doesnt think about nerfing him but keeps on improving him. Somehow brain** but what ever. You ll have to handle this. Ezreals early burst is even unmatched for ADs. To prevent him from killing you over and over (what can easily happen if you dont pay attention) you should just go in for last hits. even if you have to use your spells for it. Stay behind minions. When he jumps or hits you behind your minions or inbetween you and your minions immediately stun him. _Minion dmg in early is really hard and can easily turn the tides into your favor even though your early is really weak. try to not die and get farm as much as possible. When he tries to zone you force your jungler to gank. IF you really dont have a chance you should consider swapping with top lane. Once you get DFG you can nuke him from 100-> 0 ! A viable itembuild against ez is also building ninja tabis early and 2 dorans. you can think about building kages and going for zhonyas or just the chain mail then completing dfg. its your choice, though i personally would go just ninja tabis 2 dorans chain mail and rush a dfg as fast as possible.

EASY
 • Squishy but hell of cc and sustain. "silence i kill you!" is his most used sentence. Can be seen as a typ of anti caster when build correctly. if he survives your burst you are probably loosing your lane. outfarm him because its really hard to farm with fiddle. Care at lvl 12 onwards his fear duration allows him to fear you and channel ult while following up with a silence, making it unable for you to break anything and you will take a chunk of damage. still he is squishy and with enough harass you will kill him. ganks work wonders. 2vs1 is not fair but he is so squishy that it is almost always a kill. QSS is a strong item here!

EASY
 • A good pick to counter fiora is Syndra because you can constantly poke hard just as Orianna which you can compare Syndras harrass playstile. be aware that her ult will deal 500damage at lvl 6 to you when she only hits you. harass her and its easy win.

HARD
 • congratz you got counterpicked! Fizz is considered a hard counter to most squishy casters and if correctly played will crush you! you have to use your first 2-3 level to get ahead of him and try to zone him. once he hits 6 he can instagib you. be aware of his q w pokes. when his trident shines he does extra damage. dont fight him then. DO NOT ult him when he has his E up. when he jumps onto it your ult simply stops and doesnt even do dmg! 4get about trading him late game he will be too tanky for you to burst him and will still easily instagib you. Ult him always after he used E or when he is stunned or he can't dodge it.

MEDIUM
 • Galio is designed as a caster tank. early on he wont have much damage and sustain but with his first few items this changes rapidly. get a gank from your top laner or an ad jungler to kill him. if you play well he wont land a single spell on you while you can easily force him to take damage.

MEDIUM
 • Critplank will give you a hard time in early and can one shot you. think about a zhonyas early. Tankplank is going to be not much of a problem because you can force him out of mana and then push him out of lane. he is going to be tanky and annoying. try to hold a safe distance so he cant parley you. care for his ult it can do 400 damage when you just run through it.

 • Castplank is tanky as hell and for any caster unkillable. his ult does tons of damage if you stand in it and i mean tons. every cannonball can easily hit for 500-800. Care for his parley when he got lich bane. the effect will proc. thus he can insta gib you with dfg + parley. usually not much of a problem.

EASY
 • Tanky but no big problem for you. just poke poke poke and he will be forced away. care if you are low life for flash ignite+ult. Not much to say. AP Garen is especially no threat unless he got dfg lb and rabbadons then care for his Q spell dealing a good amount of damage and together with dfg q ult he can insta kill you though he doesnt even scale on ap.

HEADS UP
 • If you dodge his spells you win, if he dodges yours he wins. generally a good Gragas will outsustain you with and life. Making him unkillable in an all in. when he has dfg he can bodyslam you like Relaxo (which he also kinda look alike :P) using dfg ignite barrel ult and instagibbing you. He has higher mobility and instant burst. More utility then you and better ganks. force him to stay on lane or he will gank your bot lane for double kills. consider rylais or some mr early.

EASY-MEDIUM
 • AD in mid aren't a big problem unless you dont trade without your spells. be aware of his q ult burst which can take you dont from 50% life. poke him and you win. If he s AP dont get into smoke screen when its flying. he usually uses it when you go near your caster minions so he gets the dmg on you and them because it has a long cd (15sec).

MEDIUM
 • High mobility and good aoe damage and sustain. if he goes ad tanky route you wont kill him in mid and have to do this in early game. if you dont kill him he can become a problem because he has far more utility for teamfights. stay away from minions and be aware of ganks. he can ult behind you fearing you in the other direction and then shoot you even further like alistar. this way you should be aware that even lane ganks are possible! AP he can be a pain especially because his ult does a ton of damage and his W also. he has such a high mobility that he simply can follow you to get the full duration of W off.

MEDIUM
 • He is pushing you out of lane and you can't do much against this. stay away of your minions if there are only 2 left because he will hit you with his rockets and those things hurt really. dont chase him through turrets, do not get baited into a chase its generally no good idea because his turrets will slow you to death and besides kill you. dodge his grenade and avoid rockets and you are fine. kill his turrets by poking him along with the turrets and auto hit them. a trick to not get attacked is auto hit run 2 steps back and hit again.

HARD
 • you wont see many Irelias mid but when she is there and goes wits + mercs you will loose. try to force her out of lane early and zone her as much as possible. she will do the same to you later on. concentrate on farming as much as possible. buy life to lower true damage its the best counter to survive longer. if irelia goes AP for a reason be aware of dfg lb q e ignite combos which can insta kill you together with her W she is actually not a this bad ap carry.

MEDIUM
 • A good janna was a pain to play against. WAS? correct. because in one of the last patches they nerfed her AP ratios to make her less lane dominant. now she cant do much more then shield and farm all time. be aware of ganks she has a good amount of cc together with a carry jungler you can get into troubles. outfarm her and hit her with your spells to force her oom. she will use shield q w on you probably, which hurts definitly but your spells are more cost efficient and cost way less mana for the dmg they give.

EASY
 • not this hard in lane. he can hurt if you get hit by his lances and he also can instagib you but only if you do not pay attention. if you are not full life and will fail dodging his e q combo better flash instead of dying immediately. poke him and he is easy to kill. if you get trouble ask for ganks.

HARD
 • does a ton of damage when you fight him. he has good amounts of poke and if he e q w you, you might be unable to trade back. if you see him activate his e be ready for his jump and send a stun towards him. this way you will at least come out equal. on full ap he can insta kill you when he gets his dfg and probably also hextech gunblade lichbane or simply sheen.

EASY
 • do never get hit by his long range q and his full combo. together with sheen its devestating and designed to kill top laners. if full ad you can poke him and then combo him down. if going ap be aware of his aoe electro shield thing around him it does a good amount of damage. Generally easy to win.

EASY
 • A good Karma is a pain! she can lasthit minions and harrass from out of range. check her Mantra Counter and if she used all mantras and probably even her shield with it to last hit the minions its your turn. those are your only chances to kill her. Even Matchup but you can definitly win it because she wont be able to kill you when you dont stand inside your minions all the time.

EASY
 • A good karthus can win this matchup easily. The upside is I only encountered 2 karthus players who won this matchup (moma and some other 2.1k solo q karthus). You will want to stay out of his range and dodge his q spells while hitting him with your spells. pretty basic. you will win most matchups fairly easy. Warn your mates when he is 6 and try stun him if he is stupid enough to not ult from behind his turret.

 • If you see an ult above your head go straight towards where he might be and if you see him either flash stun or just try a normal knockback, depending on your distance from him. if you have to flash not to much into his turret its also worth doing if you can stop his ult then. Bad thing is Karthus is the best caster ingame the longer the game lasts. He is a so called hyper carry and in late game the most devestating caster besides a veigar but with the aspect that he casts while dead when veigar wont and can easily be nuked.

HARD
 • At early levels make sure to dominate and push him as hard as possible. when he is 6 you have a problem. continue to push and bind him in mid lane to prevent his biggest strength (the roaming). Whenever he leaves the lane simply push push push. play safe and anticipate his jumps and w q there. this can win you the matchup! consider building a chalice.

EASY
 • High mobility and easily able to dodge your spells except e and ult. poke her with q + e w combo when she is near minions. save up stun for her ult or when you can land a clear shot to combo her down. consider taking exhaust. Stun is not needed always but your E pushback does the same to interrupt her ult.

MEDIUM-HARD
 • This can be hard. do not trade without spells and dont waste ignite when she has ult up. poke her down force ult and then force her out of lane or get a kill. when you are low and she is also but has ult up you can surprise her by running away and using q - e - w behind you to get the kill.

HARD
 • A good kennen will beat you or force you away from creeps. He outshines you in teamfights WHEN he gets out a good ult. poke him early (your spells go through minions his dont. you can W or E on your own minions when he lightning rushes. he will be in W or E before realising he failed dodging it. you can definitly win this matchup but make sure to focus him out in teamfights or simply aoe stun their team.

HARD - IMPOSSIBLE
 • Kha'zix dmg is really hard and you will have to be patient to not loose 80% of your life immediately! The reason why this matchup in mid is going to be hard, is that Kha'zix is going to a very mobile champ and it will be really hard to hit spells. Try to hit them whenever he goes into the minions for a last hit. Call misses because he can immediately vanish and run really fast to gank somewhere else. You can compare him with an AD Sion with even more mobility but less cc/dmg. He also has more burst then talon. try to stand near minions and always E him away when he flies to you or you will loose a chunk of your life.

HEADS UP
 • You can easily dominate him hard in early. Keep flash for close situations and flash out of his passive. past 6 dodge his ults (early lvl 2 boots and probably a change in masteries should be enough). if he makes the fault to e + ult he is in range of all of your skills. abuse this and combo him down. his sustain is not existent.

HARD
 • LB is designed as a hard counter to AP champs. her burst is insane. good thing is, get hp and she doesnt do anything. probably build an early banshees. when she triggers it with her q insta go onto her. if you dont go for banshees as i tend to do, better be smart enough to stun her when she jumps. this is not easy at all but manageble. when she is caught in your stun she will most likely spawn an image of hers. she is squishier then you and will stay till the end but has more burst than needed to kill you. good thing is she falls of later though not as hard as most people think.

MEDIUM
 • I havent encountered a lee in mid but maybe i was just a blind monk. (what a bad joke...) w/e he will be all the same just harrass him and push hard. he cant win against you if you dont get hit by q. be aware of his combo when he shields an allied minion to slow you and kill you. this can be hard early but once you got a rylais he cant do anything. if you are really good you can bait him into death by letting him hit this combo on you. most lees will kick you away and then jump the 2nd time with his ult. when he kicks you away simply flash into your turret and immediately q - e in his direction. he will be stunned under turret and you wont recieve his q damage while beeing able to kill him. (this works well against jungle lee sins who also try this)

EASY
 • AP leona can hurt but you should win your lane as long as its 1vs1. be aware of ganks. compared with 3 stuns / snares of her alone they will be killing you usually. she is no big deal and an easy lane win.

HARD
 • Lulu can 1shot minion waves and harrass you from out of range. she also outsustains an incredible amount of burst due to her shield and life buff. farm up and wait for ganks. if she isnt good enough to zone you, you will have an easier time going all in on her whenever yourspells are up.

MEDIUM-HARD
 • I mained Lux for a long time and you will definitly have a hard time with her. She is one of the few champions who can outrange you hard. if you get poked to 3/4 of life and get caught in her binding afterwards you are 110% dead! farm and push her into turret or to 3/4 of lane. THEN you can use the side brushes and areas towards mid lane to shoot spells from out of her visionrange. abuse this and you have a good chance winning when you know how to dodge skill shots. If you get crushed go roam.

MEDIUM
 • AP Malph is beeing played more often in recent tournaments and ladder matches. recently played 5 teamrankeds and had to play 4 times against ap malph. if you are skilled he is no big deal because he ll be squishy early on. keep enough pots with you 5 hp is not a bad choice here. you will outsustain him then. dodge his ult with your flash or when you are low you will be dying. roam a lot and keep wards active! Ganks are devastating when he initiates. in early abuse your range and damage. your constant poke will break his shield. try to not allow him to get it again (8sec timer, where he is not allowed to get dmg to get a shield back).

MEDIUM
 • Avoid his silence and dot jump and do not run into him like a complete troll. this is what I would consider intentional feed. running into a full malza combo like this will kill you. ganks can be devastating. a bad combo for you would be malza+jungle ww or skarner or alistar. abuse your range and push him also as much as you can to freeze the lane in the middle. if your jungler wants to gank simply stop pushing and stay back a bit. Build QSS with every champ and whenever you play against malza.

MEDIUM
 • Maokai is hard in mid but definetly not too hard to manage. he wont die easily and does a ton of damage. when he initiates with w you can flash into turret stunning him afterwards. try to abuse long range and do not get caught in junglers ganks or you die.

HARD
 • you dont win against a good ap yi. he will heal out of your stun range, is nearly immortal and will push your lane while harrassing you and getting every single cs in the game on all lanes together. This is how you will feel against a good yi. against a bad one you might win. simply dont overextend when low life he can combo you from 50% life+. if he dives you stun him and ignite immediately to kill him in early levels. later just stun him you wont kill him he can outsustain turrets and champs alike.

MEDIUM
 • A smart AP MF is winning her lane by outfarming you. she wont trade early on. basicly its like a farm party but you can damage her. do NEVER ever stand in her e or you die. evade her ult or you die (it does physical damage but scales on ap and ad). Late game she is really powerful! but because she has to farm she wont be able to leave her lane. abuse this and push her then roam. AD MF is like every other ad. simply trade when you have spells stay defensive when you dont have and push her hard. Her Q scales with Lich bane!

INSANE
 • Morde is your true terror. Playing against him makes your life a living hell. He is strong in early and scales so hard into late. Morde brings more utility for his team with the ghost, does huge dmg and you will not be able to break his shield. If he picked against you better swap lanes or get a babysit for almost all game. I really dont have a clue what you will be doing against him since your dmg is just going into his shield and unless you have blue and hit all spells you wont harass him.

 • The probably safest item build which i would play is 2 dorans, kages, chalice, hextech revolver. get all items upgradet and then you might have a chance to sustain a bit and not die immediately. Mercs recommended. Or build an early QSS against his ult and use it when he ulted + ignite.

MEDIUM
 • Its an even match up you can win this but she can also. The problem is that morgana brings a huge amount of utility for her team and thus can turn teamfights. So you have to outshine her early on and kill or assist on kills in other lanes. This matchup requires a good amount of roaming abilities. Gank a lot and just push your lane all day when you got blue.

EASY
 • You win against nasus no matter what you do but do 1 thing: Build mercs against his slow or you may be forced to flash over and over when getting ganked though you can build other boots i recommend mercs unless the enemy jungler has no hard cc so you can just w8 for both to come in range and then knock them back with your e or stun em + slow with w. keep in mind you need a good amount of mana for it and you should always have this amount.

 • The rest of this matchup is pretty boring. get wards and zone nasus from creeps since you should be able to harrass him out of lane. AP nasus is annoying but he just farms with his e. whenever he wants to kill the creeps in early try to push your minionwave fast out of the range of his spell. Prevent Nasus from farming his

MEDIUM
 • Nauti can be played in 2 ways. When you see him in mid he is probably AP or for some unknown reasony tanky / hybrid. Nautilus can be really hard due to his strong nuke and burst damage followed up by constant dot dmg through his shield. basicly stay behind minions to not get hooked, when he ults you theres a gank incomming and you should probably flash away unless you are confident you ll survive it.

 • Full AP nautilus does really huge dmg and can instakill you when he has DFG up. A tip to avoid unnecessary damage is to wait till his shockwaves ran by because when he hooked you and uses E you usually run away. DONT run away. because every shockwave deals damage and when you run from him you get hit 3 times instead of just 1 when you run inside of him or simply stay where you where till they ran by. Tank nauti is annoying since you wont kill him so farm up all you can and roam.

MEDIUM
 • AP Nidalee is no threat when you know how to dodge skillshots. When you cant dodge it you should better run towards it instead of away. Simply farm and gank a lot. AD Nidalee can give you trouble but usually shouldnt unless you fight her with auto attacks. Ad nida is really early dependent so just play safe and farm.

EASY
 • Nocturne mid is probably one of the last things you ll see besides ap garen and ap olaf in mid. Nocturne isnt made for dueling ranged champs. He can block one of your spells to gain attackspeed. Maintain out of his auto hit range and dodge his Q which he will use to harass you. Just farm up and gank other lanes or try to zone him.

MEDIUM
 • Nunu mid has the best sustain of all casters (besides blue buff swain). You will never ever kill him as long as he does not overextend too hard. Basicly try to outfarm himn and harass while he wants to last hit. Pushing doesnt help much so you shouldnt. Try to avoid his iceblasts since they are hurting crazy! If you dont believe it go full ap nunu in a normal game and you will believe afterwards.

 • So whenever he makes a step towards you just run a step away. do not get forced out of minion range. when nunu uses his ms steroid to catch you with his iceballs just stun him and give him a combo or two. your only chance to kill nunu is when he is not building ROA and you get a DFG. This is when you have enough burst to kill him. But most nunus in mid will go 2 dorans + catalyst which makes them immortal (nearly). Roam around and get other lanes fed.

Match Ups (2)!

Because I got into issues concerning the amount of words allowed in 1 chapter I had to create a 2nd part for the match ups which will start at the letter O and give me some space for the rest of the first half of the matchups. So here you go starting with Olaf:

MEDIUM
 • Olaf mid as tanky ad can be immortal after a while but in early, early stages you can definetly counter him and force him away from minions. Recommend ms quints and ms in utility to dodge his axes cause they hurt. AP olaf is no threat until he got dfg and lb which means he can nuke the sh.t out of you. Farm and roam as always.

HARD
 • Orianna is a pain and you will probably not want to play against her since she does most things better then you, just her burst can not be compared to yours but you need to build up orbs to burst hard. Dont pick Syndra against ori and when she picked ori against you, you might need a good amount of help. so just farm up all you can and go roam.

HARD
 • Panthe mid is one of the hardcounters to most APs so he is against Syndra. Farm safely, stun him when he wants to Q and slow him. When you got DFG and he isnt fed you can insta kill him with a full 5 ball combo. Build ninja tabis and also consider an early zhonyas. Farm safely and roam afterwards. Call mia and ping all day because his jump global is really hard for ganks especcially against bot lane and together with a junglers gank its 4vs2 or 3vs1 in some situations. So its basicly TF on AD with more burst.

MEDIUM
 • Dont waste your mana on her in mid-late cause you wont do a lot of damage. Her passive reduces every damage which is over 10% of her life by 50%. Her Q can hit hard and a fed poppy is probably the strongest nuker in game. 700 ap, immortal shield, and lichbane + dfg can insta kill a tank. Early game is where you should prevent her from farming and zone her as best as you can or call out for ganks though she can easily survive most of them. when poppy is low you should use ignite since its the only damage source to kill low life poppy for sure.

EASY
 • Rammus is no big threat. He is tanky but thats it. Ap rammus can push hard and do strong ganks but you can stay out of his range and just push him away in early + zone. In mid - late he is super tanky and does good amounts of damage but when you call mia and ward etc theres no big threat. BUT remember that his taunt is somewhat like 2-3sec long and this can easily set up for a gank.

MEDIUM - HARD
 • Renekton can be pretty tough. He does huge damage when you fight him. BUT unlike a lot of other champs you will be able to push him back denying his W Q combo after he charged and harassing him besides. Be sure to not get stunned or you will take a lot of damage. AP Renekton is a fear when he got rylais and lich bane because his ult will slow you constantly and deal a good amount of damage. However you should be able to outfarm him in mid and with the help of your jungler you can kill him early on. Mid - late game you will not deal this much dmg to him but thats not your job. So prepare for a good mid game by helping your other lanes early on.

MEDIUM
 • Though rengar was or even is one of the top bans currently, he is not seen in mid this often. The reason is that he looses his biggest advantage he has as a jungler or top lane, abusing brushes. Now in mid he can be played on ad or ap. The ad way is really weak in mid because he cant really use any gap closers pre 6. past 6 he can ofc ult and jump but you just have to e him away. His burst damage got reduced so thats also not killing you immediately. When you feel having a problem you can either build ninja tabis or mercs depending on your personal preference. I would pick mercs because i can reduce the snare and slow and even the dmg from W which is quite high for an ad champ.

 • Against the AP Version of Rengar which is definetly viable and some of you might have seen the AP Rengar guide on solomid, its also possible to be played in ranked. This build option is doing most if not nearly all of his damage from a W W combo. Thus you should build mercs to reduce his slow and main dmg source. Besides he has to build dfg and lich bane to deal damage. If he s clever he builds lb first because mercs counter dfg slightly and lb is applied so often and does magic damage. You shouldnt have a problem with him just spam spells and probably build either tear of goddess or chalice to get more mana / mreg to perma spam because he got a lot of sustain and is a manaless champ resulting in nearly infinite time he can stay on a lane.

MEDIUM
 • I personally dont feel that riven mid is something which should be played against Syndra. Apart from other champs and matchups syndra can stop rivens damage and gap closing resulting in an easy lane win. Just dont use your E unless you are sure to get a kill. Againt riven and champs like that you should utilize your knockback as a defensive spell. Apart from that simply farm up, harass and go and roam. You will not be able to kill riven when she goes for mercs and hexdrinker so simply dont try.

MEDIUM
 • Rumble is mostly seen on top lane because he is a quite beefy melee mage and can take down most top laners. This said he is also able to take you down in mid. Dont expect to win this lane easily. Mid lane rumble is usually going to be a lot squishier then top lane rumbles which results in kill potential on both sides. You can kill him quickly but he can also. Once you get DFG or Blue or even both you are able to take him down by constantly poking and nuking him afterwards. Dont fear to push with your Spheres. when you can hit minions and rumble use a spell. rumble is based on pushing with his flamespitter which means he will push back. So you get free harass without beeing set in danger.

MEDIUM
 • Ryze can be compared to you because you both deal constant damage. Just Ryze is going to be a constant and tanky caster while you are going to be squishy but dealing "tons of damage" including a high burst. Ryze is one of the late game hyper carries in the caster section but you are one of them too. Dont focus him but kill his ad etc and your teams combined dmg will make quick work of Ryze. During the lane you can farm freely because you got a way higher range. You can abuse this by harassing him out of lane. But be aware of ganks.

HARD
 • Actually AP Sejuani is greatly underestimated. I have won almost all games and lanes when i played her in mid. She is another melee mage which has a lot of burst (Q E R) and a big constant dmg (W). She will most likely engage on you with either ult or Q and this results in some seconds getting a lot of dmg. BUT you can disengage from her by pushing her away when she is not smart enough to use the right spell combo.

 • You cant do much when sejuani is ulting you and runs up to you. BUT when she uses Q immediately shoot her away and use all you spells on her while running away aferwards. (Why use your spells? 1st you can dmg her. 2nd instead of running while slowed by 15-50% depending on he using E or not, you deal dmg and the slow runs out in the meanwhile. Try to dodge her Charge. Be aware to call ss because sejuani is pretty mobile and her ganks are hard when she got ult up.

EASY
 • Shaco cant do anything. poke him or oneshot him when you can. be aware that he might set his clone without you noticing a difference because he is in a brush or sth. dont waste your spells on him you will see if its a clone or not after 1 spell because he gets massively more dmg. Kill his JITB when he plants them and be aware that he will e you when he runs towards you or even jumps. BUT after his jump he does not have any escape allowing for you to burst him.

EASY
 • Though Shen is considered as a tank you might play him in mid as an AP since all of his abilities scale with ap. If shen is full ap you will be able to one shot him with a 6+ orb combo and dfg. If he s going full tank its a standard farm lane but you will have a lot more threat when roaming. still he can help his team with his global presence and you should try to stop his tp with your e either by knocking him back or by stunning him. See that you gank a lot and be aware of ganks on your own lane since his taunt can easily set up for strong ganks.

MEDIUM
 • AP Sion mid is something coming back when i follow my own ranked trends and see what people play more often nowadays. Currently he is not this strong anymore which means he can be taken out easily. But he still has a strong ganking potential due to his strong AoE burst and a safe single target stun. AP Sion can be ridiculous hard to beat in lane since he can build for DFG and insta kill you. BUT in early he is not this strong. So you will have to choose one of two options. The safe option is to let him farm and take all farm you can.

 • The risky option would be to destroy his shield whenever he tries to go in for minions. This can mostly be accomplished by stunning him and then W Q on top of him + auto hits. If you let him run in and he just breaks shield you wont destroy it before so he gets way more free farm. The best combo is to set a Q underneath your feet and stun him right when he runs towards minions. Gank at least as much as Sion does. Try to shut him down by pushing him into turret.

EASY

 • You should definetly win this lane beccause he is not able to harass you except when he goes ap and upgrades E all the time. Skarner AP is a good thing and does a great amount of damage once you get your items. Imagine a DFG ult E Q Q Q Q combo together with lich bane procs! That will definetly hurt and his shield scales also with ap. You will only have to dominate him early on to delay his items as much as possible. Counterjungling the wraiths is a good way to lower is chances getting gold. Besides pushing him into turret and using E to knock him away when he wants to last hit. Be aware of ganks because flash skarner ult = dead. ad or offtank skarner is useless in mid so i wont cover it. simply farm and zone those 2 ways. AP Skarner has a huge amount of sustain (shield, self heal) but is reliable on either a flash combo or harassing you with E which you should be able to dodge.

MEDIUM
 • Sona got a quite long range, good poke and sustain BUT she cant burst you which means that you simply dont fear trades and use health pots whenever trading so you come out ahead and when she is at 80% or below you should be able to get an instakill.

MEDIUM
 • AP Soraka is a constant dpser and probably seen more often soon because of her recent remake! You will beat her in all-in trades AS long as you can burst her during the stun or when she has no ult / heal up. Care when she got rylais because she is able to chase down and tank turrets with the slow and armor buff! Pre 6 she is a free kill for jungler ganks so try to get the advantage right there! Dont fight her for a long time since her debuff will get you in negative MR which results in getting BONUS DMG!

MEDIUM - HARD
 • Swain is depending on your skill and his. In early you can harass him and you need to without getting caught in his cage. Dont fight when he is full life because you will loose every "all-in". Deny him blues or its going to be a rough time in mid. When you cant deny blues go roam and when you can get a dfg and ignite up then kill him or poke down his mana.

SKILL BASED
 • This matchup is clearly skillbased. If you loose its your fault because the other Syndra is simply better and you played blind pick or something like this. In a mirror match you should always build some defensive items. I prefer taking dorans 2 times and chalice then go for dfg and thats usually enough.

VERY HARD
 • Not on your own. You wont win this match up on your own unless Talon doesnt use his skills! Get massive help from your jungler or switch the lane! When nothing helps you will have to roam. Build Ninja tabis, rylais roa and zhonyas asap to survive at least something +2 dorans early. Talon counters most APs and also you. BUT when you are tanky enough or can cc him for 2sec it is possible to instagib him with your high burst! try to farm long range!

VERY EASY

 • You will win your lane no matter what you do when you hit your spells. Get your jungler or SUPP with oracles and make him clear the shrooms! This is the only dangerous thing because one shroom can easily do more then 1k dmg when teemo is on ap (i believe rank3 base dmg is 600 without ap). AD Teemo looses also and is even weaker! Tank teemo is like a punching ball. Just right in his face all the time (sry for all teemo players but you will never win this matchup)!

MEDIUM
AD Trist is like every other AD farm up and trade when you got your spells. She got no sustain so you should be able to poke her down due to your long spell range. When Trist is AP dont stand in your minions. She can get an insta kill on a whole wave and when you stand right in that wave you can get easily 3-400 dmg from the jump + the explosion dmg from every minion (6* up to 150). This is the reason to not stand in the minions. Well even Galio is not able to do this! Against Galio I usually pick AP trist because they wont always be aware of their positioning and thus die immediately!

MEDIUM
 • This lane can be easily won when you dont always run into his wild cards. Also just fight him but always fight him when he has used his pick a card for getting mana or sth. Care for ganks on your lane (flash gold card + jungler might hurt). Remember your team that he gets 6 and whenever he does 1 step from your lane ping like hell so they run also write SS TF CARE. Only thing you can do against him ganking. Also remember them when tf respawned he might use ult to "lane gank" etc. Be extra careful about this because most people dont think about it. Also you shouldnt be too passive against a TF and take the initiative which means push whenever he tped and take his turrets one after another and when he stays on lane just push and go for ganks yourself.

MEDIUM
 • Urgot is usually no problem. Dodge his poison and just poke him down and harass him out of lane. Try to stop him from getting blue and build tabis or QSS early on depending on their jungler. if its huge dps or cc build qss asap and probably even mercs otherwise tabis should be fine. if you get killed cause he supressed you then build QSS to cleanse it. Basicly just harass him out of lane and go roam to secure kills cause urgot is going to be pretty tanky.

MEDIUM
 • AD is scaling hard into late game because when he triggers his passive, it does a decent amount of true damage (more then vayne). You can outzone him early when you have your spells but only as long as you dodge his spells. Because you will not have any Armor early on you could make this lane a farm lane.

 • The secret AP Varus is one of the best hyper carries in late game! His W stacks 3 times and each stack can deal 15-25% dmg of your max life as true DMG! But he is late based!

EASY
 • Free win for your lane if you know how to counter her. You should build an early zhonyas and then just zone her from the early levels. Dont fight level 1 because you just got 1 spell and her damage will be superior! at level 2 you should take your stun to simply q e or q w her and auto hit. she will be low and slowed/stunned enough so follow her and harass with auto hits. Be aware of ganks and stay away from walls. Also predict her to dodge your q so shot it slightly in the way where she might tumble if you dont manage to hit her this way simply wait till its on cd for 5 sec and engage.

MEDIUM - INSANE
 • I do like to play Veigar myself. To counter him build Mercs ASAP! Also get early Rylais or his ult will kill you. The best hypercarry of all casters. Though you might say karthus is the one. Veigar ult will be enough to kill the enemy ap and he has the best CC tool of all casters. His cage is long range and a 100% safe stun when you know how to set it up. Veigar for solo Q is a good choice and if you encounter one try to ensure you push him hard and back off faster then you pushed! Getting ganked will be an ensured kill because you will get stunned and take a ton of damage. A complete counterbuild could be: Mercs, Rylais, Zhonyas, Abyssal, Rabbadons, RoA / Void / WotA, ... Do not overextend to much or you will be an easy target. Mercs is the wonder item against Veigar and the only problem what veigar has to kill an enemy. When I encounter an enemy and he doesnt build Mercs I never loose my lane as veigar and will win the game because i get fed so hard. So dont do that fault and simply build mercs. Also try to predict cages and run towards him so you dont get stunned.

HARD
 • A good viktor will skill his stunfield at level 8. Not at Level 4! This means overextend early and play safe once he reaches lvl 8. Care for his laser and avoid it. Be aware that you cant trade autohits when he used his q on you. He will just not get any damage through his shield and you dont have one! His LAZOR hurts! Avoid it! He brings great utility for teamfights which is the main reason I say it is hard to win against. His teamplay is strong and a good Viktor can win his lane easily! Be aware and dont underestimate this champ he hurts really hard!

MEDIUM - INSANE
 • The longer the game lasts, the less effective you ll be compared to vlad wholl scale more even though you are also a strong late champ. Vlad is one of the hyper carry casters. Which means that he has one of the best late games. You will not want to fight a late game vlad because he is super tanky and regs so much due to his lifesteal. BUT however you play, you will win the early game. Try to make him dodge your q and then set a W + E where he will pop up. He is taking more damage from you because he pooled your q then without pooling. But many vlads dont know this. Why do you do more damage when he actually decides to pool and avoid your spell then when you hit him? The reason is that, unless vlad is REALLY low life he will loose 20% of his current life. Also its easy to predict and foresee where his pool will end and this way you can also get a W off in 90% of the time. Simply follow him up after shooting a Q. When he comes out right in your W ignite him and get E spell off again to ensure an early kill. Simply try to poke him down with your blue and start to zone him early so he cant farm this much for his hextech revolver or spirit visage.

MEDIUM
 • You wont see Voli in mid usually. But when you do make sure to have ignites when you want to kill him. His passive is annoying and if he goes for AP + Spellvamp or a Hextech Gunblade build you should make sure to not fight him alone. Be aware that his W might not seem strong but it definetly is a threat even on AP. Especially when Voli has finished Rylais you should stun him when he charges because his E will slow you to infinity, while his ult simply kills you. Even when you gank him be aware that his ult will hit both of you and does a great amount of damage. You should be able to win this lane due to your bigger range but once he gets tanky he can outsustain you with a hextech gunblade build.

HARD
 • Warwick in mid lane is one of the most annoying lanes. A good WW will outsustain any damage and be able to set up incredible ganks on your lane or when he roams. Build QSS asap! Try to roam and push him out of lane. The only thing AP WW is unable to do is to push hard. He might have superior sustain in 1v1 but when focussed he dies quickly because he wont have enough sustain. For ganks you ll need to have ignite up or should be confident to kill him fast. Tank WW can be hard and you wont deal damage to him after early. But always harass and hit him with everything. Stop them from getting him blues and you'll be fine.

MEDIUM
 • Same as Xin Zhao. Poke him and win this way. Be careful about his invis because he can setup ganks from invis + e + ult. This combo does a lot of damage and will force a flash. If he is not low enough he might decide to dive you which means you should kite him around your turret and stun him right under it.

HARD
 • Xerath has a very long range. You can consider maxin E over W and avoid his damage by farming that way. A good jungle gank will be ensuring a kill because he has no inbuilt escape and just a long range. A good Xerath will lane gank your Bot lane and can be unkillable because of his range (when he knows his positioning). Farm as much as you can and roam around. be careful at 6 he can burst you pretty easily.

MEDIUM
 • Go for Tabis and harass long range. You will win with your poke. dont get near and dont go all in when you're both full life because he will crush you! Poke him down and force him out of lane or kill him.

HARD
 • Yorick is designed to win his lane and force his opponent out of lane all the time. You wont do much against him. So try to just farm up all you can. On AD he will be a problem and since you dont have any brushes you should run away from his ghosts they might hit for a hundred at lvl 5+! I wouldnt look forward to go for a matchup like this. Try to farm and when he backs off push and roam. You wont win your lane and will have equal farm so try to do better ganks. Care for his ult on the enemy ad. try to kill the copy and the ad afterwards in as little time as possible.

HEADS UP
 • You should know how to avoid his bombs because if you dont you will get massive damage. Try to not stay near your minions because he can drop a bomb on them and the aoe will hit and hurt you. This lane is fairly hard to dominate if Ziggs is good. He can free farm and does a good amount of damage. Farm as much as you can and go and roam. His ganks are strong and he got a little advantage due to his ult range. Try to set up traps and kill him with your junglers help. 1vs1 it will be who is the better player. A good ziggs will dodge your q+e with his w and meanwhile kill you with bombs and grenades and bombs and bombs and some more bombs. Do not exchange auto hits! he will win. Care his auto hits hurt like wtf when he got LB. He can easily deal a 1k auto attack with full itembuild!

 • Try the itembuild against a poke depending champ, posted in the itembuild section above!

MEDIUM - INSANE
 • Zilean is hard! He can be very easy to handle but when you have seen some really good Zilean mid laners you might say this champ is so fuckin op. Zilean has no 100% counter and can be played against most champs. He has just 1 DPS spell and more supportive aspects but this just means you should have an ap top or in jungle (not both or they just stack mr) to get a good amount of mixed damage. You will want to stay out of zileans bomb range, which is not this easy. He can last hit easily because he got a very clear auto hit animation and blow up a wave in 2 seconds with his bombs. Try to make sure he doesnt get many blues or its probably going to end bad for you.

 • The biggest problem is not Zilean himself. The biggest problem is his ad carry. You might have seen teams, build around a hyper carry like Vayne. This can be: Zilean mid, Top lane Kayle / yorick, sup nunu/ali, ... their only goal is to let their ad rape you. give that vayne a ga and she will have a copy from yorick or 4sec immortality from kayle, a revive, a guardian angel revive and insane AS from nunu or a hard babysit protecting alistar. You wont win easily against them. If you encounter those teams dont stay mid but go roam their ad and try to camp him as much as possible. If its just zilean mid try to harrass from out of range and push hard when he does. Steal his blues and wait for jungle ganks. killing him 1vs1 is possible but you wont kill him a second time when he revives. If you see a team like I mentioned above better pick Morde mid lane and get a ghost of vayne.

HARD - MEDIUM
 • Zyra does damage (what a wonder). No but I mean she REALLY HURTS! Most players still ban her in ranked and she is currently a strong pick (the ap with the best success ratio). Riot set up a hotfix only for her! So how do you handle her? The advantage is that your poke will hit her plants and eat them. The problem is eat her plants in 4 seconds is not a viable gameplay. unless you dont get hit by her. Those plants do more damage against zombies (oh no wrong game), I mean they do magical damage up to easily 200 per hit and per plant. So better stay away! Try to not get hit by her spells since everything is skillshot based. Use your long range to cast while dodging her spells when shes LIA (locked in animation). This means you should use your spells on her when she uses hers to hit you. her spells have an animation time.

Locked in Animation:
 • For example a standard mage in lets say world of warcraft has 3seconds cast time on his fireball. In lol its a little bit lower. more like 0.2-0.5seconds. During that time they cant move or the spell wont come off. You might have experienced this with auto attacks. Sometimes you hit and run and your auto hit didnt come of because you canceled it by moving. Another example is Fiddlesticks. fiddlesticks cant move while draining life or channeling his ult. This means he is locked in animation because he cant move without breaking his spell (during ult he cant move at all i believe).

 • This is a general tip. try to abuse those LIA situations and hit your enemies while they cast. but manage to dodge their spells meanwhile. Thats really damn hard and to master this you will need months probably a year of experience where you just focus on those little things to get the rest out of your champs.

 • Those tiny things seem to not make much of a difference but that is why top players and good 1vs1 players dominate over their counterpicks! Good luck at learning this!

What Syndra can throw!

Apart from crushing the Riot servers when Syndra came out she can also throw several objects.

As mentioned in the description:
Grabs a dark sphere, enemy minion or neutral monster. Dragon and Baron Nashor cannot be grabbed by this ability.

If cast again, throws the grasped Dark Sphere or enemy at a target area. Enemies struck take magic damage and are slowed for 1.5 second.

Syndra is able to manipulate neutral monsters, enemy minions and her spheres. BUT with enemy minions it does not only include those lane minions but also several minions from other Champs.

Here a short list of what you can grab and what you cant:

What you can grab:

 • Heimerdinger Turrets!
Theres a bug about the Heimer turrets. When Heimerdinger skills his turrets the 3rd time which allows him to plant 2 instead of 1 turret AND in the meantime you grab one turret, he can plant another 2 turrets to get the amount of 3 Turrets which is more then should be possible.

 • Malzahars Voidlings

 • Tibbers!

 • Zyra's Plants

 • Yoricks Ghosts

 • Shaco's Jack in the box

 • Zac's passive blob.

Here a picture which I stole from followed link:

http://static.askmrrobot.com/images/lol/tips/syndra/1/syndra_throw.png

What you can't grab:

 • Maokais Sapplings (would be too cool to throw them back to him)

 • Teemos Shrooms

 • Wards

Special Effects on RED and BLUE:

 • When throwing the red buff onto an enemy it is applying the dot and slow from it.

 • When you throw the blue buff at an enemy your CDs are lowered by 1 sec and you gain 10 mana.

Note: Syndra can grab the blobs from zac when he is in his passive. When all 3 blobs die and Syndra holds the fourth Zac is immediately dead. -> Prioritize all other blobs and let your W run out. Another way would be to shove them together using your E (if you position correctly you get 2 times 2 blobs stacked.) Now just Q one half of them and W the other 2. Together with your E dmg from before it should be a guaranteed kill.

Final Comments

Thanks for reading. Feel free to leave comments and rate this guide.

Even the players from US who might have had experiences on their own since shes out there can probably give some tipps which i didnt think about or had no time to put in.

Hope you "stay tuned" and check for updates.

Thanks again and I wish you a lot of fun with Syndra the dark sovereign!

Links

Here i want to post some Links to either Homepages of Clans or intresting websites to check out.

 • First of all i want to support a new project I currently work on with a lot of other players. We are doing a homepage which is considered to be the first "in depth german LoL community page". But its not only in german. We are doing interviews with professional players like Akayso from logiX for example. The team and staff is partly represented by teammanagers of Gamed!de, logiX, etc. so we got the connection to those pro players. We are updating the homepage and news every day several times. If you want to give it a quick look and check out our streams (live games of pro teams playing in our house tournament, live reports from gaming events such as gamescom, live streaming of tournaments like IPL, EPS with our own shoutcasting!)

 • Heres the link: www.lovelol.de (though its a german page, our streams and lotteries and several events are in english)

 • Another thing i want to promote is a tool most of you will probably know. It is the LoL Replay tool. This tiny programm runs in the background while you play and creates lrf files (leagueoflegends replay file) which you can use to review the game. Its having several uses and can be used to see a game from spectator position (when you enable that option) and check out where the enemies where what you could ve done better and what you did well. This tool helped me a lot to improve skill and teamfight attitude + positioning just cause i reviewed and checked what i did and what other options where open. A lot of teams use this tool to review their own matches and improve their teamfight behaviour and teamplay.

As you can see this tool provides a lot of use and i want to support it by linking it here:

www.leaguereplays.com

An often asked question is if this tool is making real videos for 2 gb or sth and the answer is no! the files it creates are just about 5-15mb small per game and you can (and probably should) even delete those files when you dont need them.

Also want to promote this one page: www.solomid.net/guides - your page for Leagueoflegends Guides!

good work! :) One of the most in-depth guides i've ever seen.

As a viktor player, I have to question your statements in his matchup. A good viktor will NOT wait until level 8 to get his ONE AND ONLY ESCAPE! And lets say for the sake of argument that he did wait till level 8. Why overextend? If viktor doesn't have his gravity field, let him push the lane and call for a jungle gank. Guaranteed burnt flash. Seriously, unless he gets the gravity augment, he can't use his field aggressively on someone with syndra's range.

I like this guide's effort. But its a bit long winded in sections. Also, the matchup section are weird. Your descriptions don't always match your difficulty ratings. You also treat obviously not mid lane characters as if they were mid. I wrote I guide on Malz where I also gave matchups on all characters. But I separated mid and not mid characters and covered not mid characters by how you deal with ganking them or getting ganked by them.

December 8, 2012 - 04:57 PM #6

Nice guide, i like this very much. I saw Sejuani in the matchups and read the description. I was wondering if you could me send a PM with a build for Sejuani mid with runes masteries and blabla, or even make a guide! I'm a big fan of her, she's one of my favorite pgs and my favorite jungler, i'd be very happy if you could do this for me (: Thank you for your attention and time

Very nice indepth guide; helped me play Syndra! Not sure how this got 15 dislikes.

October 10, 2012 - 06:38 PM #8

So DR W when the featured guide with a lot less in depth information is a lot botter please tell me how to improve my guide? i dont see any criticism in your post except that flame. So I m sorry but you can downvote this guide or write a comment like this but without any information etc its not helping anyone. Besides this guide is based on another playstile so you cant really compare both. I also wrote this guide to get it approved though i wont mind giving out a screenshot or however you manage it to get the guide featured. But i wanted to get honor for this guide through hard work. Featured is sth what most ppl can have but only few will have an approved guide which is as indepth as this one.

So if you want to criticise this guide please feel free to leave a comment below and probably one with detailed information what you dislike and what is good and where i should improve.

Dont take this personal but with just a flame i cant work and improve.

October 10, 2012 - 05:57 PM #9

This guide blows ass. The featured one is atleast 20x better.

October 5, 2012 - 05:05 PM #10

I just tried it and her W indeed resets her Q to the original duration. It doesn't work, because W is not instantaneous. However, her E also seems to increase the duration of the balls, so they cannot vanish while inflight. I can't seem to find the sweet spot to W the first time, so the second ball always vanishes when I want to W it.

This is my new idea, which I almost got to work:

Cast 2 Qs.

W the first one and release it at your feet (max speed).

Cast a 3rd Q.

Cast a 4th Q.

E afterwards and walk towards your second ball.

W the second ball and release it at your feet (max speed).

Cast a 5th Q and ult immediately.

I can't tell you if this is easier than your combo however. It's hard to find people to test this stuff for hours, unfortunately. When I can land it consistently I'll let you know. :)

Great guide btw, I really like your matchup section.
