Champion Matchups

Introduction

Important thing: My English is very bad but I wanted to see if people like my guides. :) Another thing: A friend of mine edited this to make it somewhat of a sane reading.

Actually, my Elo isn't high and I'm for sure not the best player ever, but I got some pretty nice stats on AP Shaco (e.g. 31/9/27) and some of the funniests games I've ever played.

So to start with:
Why shoud i play AP Shaco?

PROS
-He's got a nice 1v1 ratio on his and deals awesome dmg with his puppets mid and late game.
-He almost kills towers with 3 triggers of , so in about 15 sec a tower
is down!
-It's really funny cause you just stand in the middle of a lane and hope you are going to get ganked and they will run into your 3 .
-In late game you will kill nearly everyone with , trigger and instantly, even without your .
- 2-3 well planted deal 2k dmg in under 4 sec to a careless carry running right into them.

CONS
-Mid, late game char, so you will need a good early game to be effective late game.
-High cd on his which is his main dmg tool.
-Not very durable, which means your well-going depends on your dodge skills.

Shaco, the Demon Jester

Most would say that death isn't funny. It isn't, unless you're Shaco - then it's hysterical. He is Valoran's first fully functioning homicidal comic; he jests until someone dies, and then he laughs. The figure that has come to be known as the Demon Jester is an enigma. No one fully agrees from whence he came, and Shaco never offers any details on his own. A popular belief is that Shaco is not of Runeterra - that he is a thing summoned from a dark and twisted world. Still others believe that he is the demonic manifestation of humanity's dark urges and therefore cannot be reasoned with. The most plausible belief is that Shaco is an assassin for hire, left to his own lunatic devices until his services are needed. Shaco certainly has proven himself to be a cunning individual, evading authorities at every turn who might seek him for questioning for some horrendous, law-breaking atrocity. While such scuttlebutt might reassure the native inhabitants of Valoran, it seems unimaginable that such a malfeasant figure is allowed to remain at large.

Whatever the truth of his history might be, Shaco has joined the League of Legends for reasons only he knows. He is a terrifying figure, typically shunned by both his fellow champions and the media at large. Only the summoners in the Institute of War know why such a creature was allowed into the League, but most Runeterrans suspect it to be a means that allows the power that be to keep an eye on the ever-elusive Shaco. Unsurprisingly, this champion is popular in places where madness can openly reign, such as among the power-hungry summoners of Zaun and Noxus.

Whatever you do, don't tell him you missed the punch line.

Runes

My runes have the goal to deal significant dmg mid and late game, but not early. Also, AP/lvl runes give you more AP altready after lvl 7 than just AP runes. You will reach lvl 7 so fast that it is not worth the bit of extra early game dmg.

There also is another way to build up Shaco:
As non-creep based counter jungler, just take gold quintessences and gold Seals.
That's not non-sense at all. Most of the time I play this build I can keep up with everyone's gold with having 20 last hits at 25min or something like that.
Important(!): Change your Masteries as well.

Masteries

You know, dmg and stuff like that. I also take improved buff duration, cause I want to use blue as effective as possible but you as well can take health and def in the tank tree (21/9/0) if your not that skilled with Shaco :P

Summoner Spells



Explanation:
The is, as always, something which someone takes for some extra dmg and to pick up kills on low HP targets. That may work well with your teammates as you can do really strong ganks with some AP. It's also good if you want to backdoor as long as your team is using .

:The works well with as you can over a wall, kill someone, drop a and back over a wall to not get killed in return.

: Also works as an escaping or chasing tool while you're invisible, but I prefer to get through walls. In most cases you can chase with anyway.

: You could take that instead of as it will make your life easier in mid lane but I never needed one cause I just dodged most spells and took some with me.

: Same as heal; could be useful but I never needed it.

: That's nothing for you to deal with as you want to kill out of the shadows and don't go 1v1 long enough to get some DMG. Also in Teamfight`s it may be helpful if u target an carry to block the DMG but as you anyway want to "1 Hit" him it`s a bit unnecessary.

: Works well for counter jungling or is perfect if you got no jungler in your team cause Shaco is excellent for stealing Buff`s or Dragon and Baron.

:If you got mana problems ever time you play AP Shaco take it but i never needed it.

, , : Feel free to use it but it's a bunch of crap on AP Shaco.

I guess Barrier also is pretty nice. Swap for if you want to.

Skills

Passive: Backstab
Shaco deals 25% bonus damage when striking a unit from behind.

Explanation:
Keep that in mind and last hiting will be a much more easier, also without wasting mana for or . Also it gives nice extra DMG to +.




Q: Deceive
Shaco instantly stealths for 4 seconds, and teleports to target nearby location. If he attacks while stealthed, the attack is guaranteed to crit for 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 / 120% bonus damage.

Cooldown 10seconds
Cost 90 / 80 / 70 / 60 / 50mana
Range 25000


Explanation:

You only need it for the stealth at the start and to dodge some spells. In late game you also want to deal the dmg of triggers so you will need this to initiate when you can't just camp a bush and wait for someone walking into it.


W: Jack In The Box
Shaco creates a Jack in the Box at the target location. It will Stealth after 2 seconds, and pop out when an enemy comes near, fearing nearby enemies for 0.5 / 0.75 / 1 / 1.25 / 1.5 seconds and attacking them.

It deals 35 / 55 / 75 / 95 / 115 (+25% of ability power) damage, and lasts 90 seconds while stealthed or 5 seconds while firing. Casting Jack In The Box does not break stealth.

Cooldown 16seconds
Cost 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70mana
Range 500


Explanation:
The most useful skill you have but only when planted at the right position! Keep warding for better results. And always try to plant3 at one place to be more effective.
Late game it's losing some of its potential cause enemys will walk around in groups most of the time and they will destroy them before the full dmg is done. Try to keep them away from the boxes itself if necessary with your own body. Also, when you die, in most cases you will take 2 people with you when they don't kill the boxes.
Get the slow from for better results.



E: Two-Shiv Poison
Passive: While Two-Shiv Poison is ready to cast: Shaco's attacks poison his target, reducing their movement speed and chance to hit by 20/22.5/25/27.5/30% for 2 seconds.

Active: Deals half weapon damage + 40/80/120/160/200 (+100% of ability power) Damage to target enemy, and poisons them for 3 seconds.

Cooldown 13seconds
Cost 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70mana
Range 625


Explanation:
The spell you will use the most in a game. It's perfect for harassment so spam it when you see you deal some dmg. It's also the spell you will use for assassination.




R: Hallucinate
Shaco creates an illusion of himself nearby, which deals 75% of Shaco's damage and receives 150% increased damage. (Deals half damage to turrets.) On death, the illusion deals 300 / 450 / 600 (+100% of ability power) magic damage to nearby enemies.

Lasts up to 30 seconds.

Cooldown 105 / 90 / 75seconds
Cost 100mana
Range 500


Explanation:
The trick is to troll your enemies and make them kill your clone in the middle of all of them. There is no real main purpose to use it for. I use it to get away, kill under towers, farm minion waves, get my buffs faster and so on. You also can use on your clone so you slow enemys for your team and also avoid them leaving the range of the explosion.
Remember you can cancel Ultimates like with the right timing cause your short time invincible when using this!!

Skill Order

I take two points in early to increase my ability to clear minion waves or jungle camps but also for the fear if some on tries to gank me.

One Point in at LvL 2 for the movement and for some early game Harassment as i don`t deal effective DMG with until i got some AP.
But i take one point in for the slow to gank other lanes.
Then a third point in is enough to set up some trap`s for ganker`s or on enemy`s Buffs.
Then i max right away cause i should have some AP and wanna deal the most DMG i can.
As second i max for max DMG because giving its full potential with and 400 AP min.

I pick when ever i can cause it`s nice for trolling and deals a lot of DMG when the puppet get killed.

Item Builds

Why do I take these items?
Gives you a lot of burst dmg and is just a must-have for every mage.

/ As you are still an assassin, your main goal is bursting down carrys and single targets in an instant. So both item are helpful for this but you have to decide cause it don`t worth to buy them both.

Pros:
  • You can keep your distance
  • Nice AP
  • Nice against champs with high HP
Cons:
  • 60sec CD
  • The passive direct DMG is less effective against low HP champs
  • your q is almost useless for DMG


Pros:
  • Nice burst
  • Only 2sec CD
  • High DMG against Carrys
  • Good against buildings
Cons:
  • CLose combat is deadly if they have cc
  • As you use as gap closer and trigger you won`t have this to escape
  • Less effective against tanks
  • Only the full item will really benefit

Really that`s my favorite :D You can built it out of both my start or and you won`t lose kage`s income what was a reason for me to build for late game in S2. but the best thing is:You can target your clone or even with it!



for more dmg and of course mainly for the penetration.

Normal mage stuff. You could also use when you are going to gank other lanes often but these are not that useful in late game.

I just like to take this because of the durability and the slow.

this thing isn't really worth the costs cause you don't need the HP if u play well. If you're not playing well this thing works good for more durability.

As I said, nice against AP champs bursting you down and you can make use of the passiv with .

good armor, good durability with the activ and good ap. Nothing to say against this thing.

works well for assassination cause of its active slow dmg and
the extra dmg with and .

: Always a good choice while it gives your spells enough time to come back from cd and often let you escape save with .

& Dude, you're the guy to hop in, deal 2k insta dmg and hop out. These are items for guys who want to fight over some time like Jax or Teemo. Dont take these things.

Teammates

The best thing that can happen to u are teammates who are warding the enemys jungel and taking champion combinations for exampel like this:
as jungler(dont need a blue so u can take it rigth away at lvl 1, he can shiel u if u go counter jungle and get caugth by some enemys)
as ad carry (mushrooms slow works great with ur puppets dmg)
as top laner( just a killing maschine with good durability)
as support(nice global heal and the magic resistance reduction from her q)

The important thing is to have a jungler who dont need the blue!

Early Game

If you have a jungler that don`t need the blue do it right at the start. Start planting at 1:05 to get the best use of 4 . Remember kill the small ones so the buff gonna respawn. Look for the time you killed the blue so u can start dropping with the right timing to get the next one and so on.

Then just go to your lane and start last hitting. If u got the blue you can use to get more last hits. Otherwise just use your passive. Most enemy`s you gonna play against are ranged so they gonna try to poke you. Don`t fear small fights. Dodge the spells they use on you and then and attack them. your early game DMG with normal attacks should be some good harassment if they miss there spells. If you fight someone like or drop a box at where u standing and provoke them to attack you. If they gonna jump on you the will be feared, taking a lot of DMG and lose some last hits. Never try to do something like that against or that wont work.

If your dominating your lane you will natural push it. Don`t fear ganks. Just drop some boxes and wait for the jungler to attack you. Most times he gonna die against the boxes anyway you can get away with .

Try to assist ganks when they are done on hard lanes or go gank by yourself. The + are most times enough to get one kill or two.

Mid Game

Now u got enough AP to piss them of. The enemy team will start to move around often and gonna go through the jungle. 2 Boxes at the right place and the lonely AD Carry going for the top farm is gone for half of a min. The Enemy team is defending the tower? 2+ and the AP Carry gone to hell.

Maybe you will go to a lane solo and wanna farm a bit. Very inviting for a gank especially with 4 boxes on the way yourself in Range for and a wall nearby to over.

If u wanna speed the game up: to a pushed lane and finish the tower before anybody could react.

Late Game

If the game gone so far its not that good for u as there are most times only AD+AP carry left over to kill fast enough not to die. No chance for tricks her cause most times you will be in teamfight`s or dead.
Just deal as much DMG as u can. Look for some way of cc with your puppets for example when your team is pushing a tower cut of the way`s enemy`s could take to come to help from other Lane`s. Use them to get a save baron as ward`s and roadblock`s or prepare for a gank while you seems to do baron.
When ever there is a chance go for yourself trigger and burst down some towers.

Team Fights

As your DMG output is High enough to kill someone right away go for the carry`s when the fight already started. Use to cut of escaping route`s or prepare some for your own team.
You can also use some for preparation if you know you gonna get attacked soon to counter invades like pull him in and then stop him from using his ulti. But be careful with our own teams cc as you can prevent the enemy`s from being stunned with your fear. Or for example an enemy can break free from Grab when he get feared on the way to .

Final Comments

AP Shaco mid may be a little tricky but if u get along with him you will have a good time and a lot of Fun. By the way i think there should be more people playing champ`s on unusual way`s bringing some relief to League of Legends :)
