Champion Matchups

Introduction

Hi, im Fhatality and I main Top in this game and this is my second guide on Solo Mid, my first guide was on malphite check that out if you want to, anyway I was around 1500-600 elo in S2 and I decided to make a guide on Irelia because she was one of my favourite Champions.

Irelia is a very mobile anti-carry champ that is great at chasing and escaping in lots of situations and she relies on attack speed so she can deal lots of damage with here W true damage and she is a very good last hitter and at split pushing because of the Attack Speed also she isn't very good with mana, you can run out of mana very easily if you don't use your Spells wisely and she can initiate Team fights very easily due to the fact she has lots of tenacity with here passive, Merc Treds, Zephyr and Masteries if you choose to have that mastery so she cant be stuned, slowed, knocked up etc.

Pros and Cons

In this chapter I will show you some of Irelia's Pros and Cons. I have tried to think of allot of things that Irelia is good and not good at from what I have experienced and found out so far.

Pros:

  • She has good sustain from her W.

  • Good burst with all of her skills.

  • Easy to last hit with.

  • She is a very mobile champ.

  • Good at escaping/chasing people down.

  • She deals true damage with W.

  • She has lots of damage.

  • she has CC Resist with passive.

  • Very good farming with R.

  • She has a good gap closer from Q.

Cons:

  • Needs allot of farm because her Items are expensive.

  • Her R isn't that useful late than early game.

  • Can struggle with Mana Early if not using skills correctly.

  • Will be countered by attack speed De-buffs.

This is not all of the Pros and Cons for Irelia but I think it's enough to help you out.

Item Builds

Starting Items:

: This is a very good Item to start of with because you have so much sustain and with your W so you will stay in lane for very long also gives a ward for early protection so that you know when you are being ganked and Irelia has no escape, I would recommend getting this first.

: Since the nerf of the boots I was wondering whether it would be a good option or not to get first. I still think it is good but it only gives about 20 Movement Speed for 350g, get this if they have a scary jungler early.

: I sometimes buy this if the enemy has lots of AD on there team and you are against an AD because the armour will really help out especially when they start to get there Brutalizers it also gives lots of sustain.

: I hardly ever get this Item to start of with but it would be really good if you are against lots of AP and against Vlad or rumble because it gives 20 Magic Resist and the 2 Health Potions for sustain.

First Back:

: I think with most the AD tops you should buy at least 1 of these because they really help you out early and make it easier for you to get kills, if you got 2 of these you would have get 10 health back every attack and your W gives 5 so that would be lots of sustain.

: I would only get this Item if you are having trouble with your mana or they are very pokey so that you can just regen or you are behind because it gives the gold per 5 or if you are thinking about getting a shurelya's reverie.

: If you are winning in lane and got a few kills in lane then I would recommend getting this so that you can just snowball and wreck them apart or if you got Long Sword first, if you got this then you should build this into a Black Cleaver.

Core Early/Mid:

: This is a Item that I think Irelia must have because she only has her E for CC and that's a slow/stun so this will help you get more kills early because of the slow and it also gives a decent amount of health and attack damage and it builds into Trinity for later.

: Get this Item if you are against AP it will help allot it also gives attack speed which Irelia relies on and it is very good if you want to split push and it gives you 42 bonus Magic Damage on your attacks, I would recommend getting this.

: I would get this if my opponent has lots of AD because of the 30 armour and they have lots of life steal so that you can out sustain them it also gives attack damage and a free ward which will help you all through out the game.

Core Late:

: This is a really good Item on Irelia it offers all the things that she needs like attack speed, attack damage, movement speed, mana and health it also has a slow on basic attacks with the passive of it.

: I think that Guardien Angel is one of the best Items on the game for later on because you have a second life to escape if you need to or deal more damage to there team and it will give you the advantage to win teamfights.

: It's just like Trinity Force it gives most of the stats that Irelia needs and it has a really good passive that fits Irelia well because it gives tenacity and it will go well with other tenacity Item you have.

: This is the main defensive Item I get on most of my top's because it now gives 500 health instead of 350 and it gives a good amount of armour along with a very useful passive for chasing people down.

Situational Items:

: If you didn't get Zephyr then I would get this because it is very good because of the slow and you can get kills easier and get it if your team hasn't got much CC.

: This is a very good Item on any AD bruiser now because of the S3 patch but I would mostly recommend getting this if you/your team has no damage or you got Brutalizer early.

: This will go really good with Wits End and will make you even better at split pushing because of it's passive, basicly the new Ionic Spark.

: A really nice Item if you or your team members are having trouble Initiating fights or catching fast people but mostly get this if you got Philosophers Stone early.

: This could replace Randuins Omen but personally I think that Randuins is better because Randuins active is very good in fights and catching people, get this if you are having lots of trouble with AD's.

: Buy this if you think you are lacking abit with health and you are squishy or you seem to be getting focused in fights and dieing quickly and you want to be able to stay alive for longer.

: If you are getting Trinity Force with Frozen Mallet or Warmogs then I would recommend getting this because you will have the armour as well as the health into attack damage.

:This is now a viable Item on Irelia because Irelia's Hiten Style was nerfed on the basic attack health restoration and this would make it better also this with Wits End and Merc Treds you will be a real pain for the enemy AP's but I think it is a waste of 1 slot.

:This is a good Item to get if you are against an AP with lots of stuns, slow, snares etc because of the Magic Resist and the passive or if there team has lots of CC. It also gives a good amount of Damage and the movement speed part of the passive will help you initiate or escape.

: Just like Thornmail this could replace Randuins, I like both the passives but I prefer Frozen hearts but the main reason I get Randuins instead of this is because Randuins gives allot of health, Get this if there AD's are fed.

: Sunfire cape is a really good Item against AD but I don't get it because I don't think it's as good as Randuins or Frozen Heart because it hasn't got an active, get this if you are struggling in team fights because the passive is really good.
