Champion Matchups

Introduction

I'm still playing with this guide and malphite in general. He is extremely strong, but always banned. I will update this as the season progresses.

Early Game

The way I set him up is for early ganks. This will set the pace and help your team out immensely.

I usually gank top or bot right after red depending on what side I am on. After that I farm off my jungle and depending on how the gank went, kill/assist I assume my team is ahead and give blue to mid early and then look for other possible ganks.

It is difficult to gank with him now because of the free wards in season 3 from sight stone, but once you get 6 its easy or you can always lane gank. The wards are usually why I early gank. Try to catch them putting a ward down or before they ward at all.

Team Fights

In team fight you are naturally tanky so don't be shy about getting in the middle and using your w to do some damage. Always try to ult as many people as you can, or in most cases atleast the AP mid or AD bot and whoever is near them. He works well with orianna and sona with those AOE ults it should be easy to burst someone down. After you ult in if you have randuins don't forget to pop it and I usually try to harass the closest carry. If they ran off or you see your own carries in trouble run back and help peel for them.

Jungling

While in the jungle I try to gank as much as possible. The way I do it is If I'm on blue side I will clear wolves and blue then gank top or mid. If nothing is there I will go to wraiths look for mid again. If there is still nothing continue to red and golems watching mid as you complete red then focus on any possible bottom lane ganks after red or vise versa depending on the side you are on. I get the sight stone relatively early for the HP and the free wards for dragon control and also for warding the enemy jungle for vision and possible counter jungling.

I'm not sure why I did that. Like I mentioned I am still working on it. Thanks for the feedback, and yes the Gold makes much more sense then block. Safeguard I don't see necessary because malphite can turret dive pretty safely after 6 anyway. Reinforced armor could be useful, but the ADC shouldn't be focusing you anyway. Also hopefully your team takes them out fast. This doesn't always happen, but with this build you should be okay with the armor and HP you get.

I've been playing Malphite for a while now. Why do you prefer block over the 10 bonus gold on smite? The three damage off of auto attacks doesn't seem that awesome. Safeguard or reinforced armor seems like they'd help more. Against an AP or a tank you don't care about auto attacks and against an AD blocking 10% of their crits seems like it would help way more.
