Champion Matchups

Introduction

Nami is a fun mid to play if you are looking for early poke on your lane enemy or for a really nice utility mid lane that can farm really well.

In Lane

Make sure not to sacrifice too much mana attempting to lane Q's. Choose your Q timing wisely.

Land your W every chance you get, it keeps damage on them and keeps you healed up. If you need to W yourself then go for it.

Use your E on yourself for farming and extra harass.

Use your ult to secure low health enemies and when lots of enemies are piled in a group.

Remember to WARD! Nami doesn't have to best escape mechanics.

Skills

Passive: Celerity

When Nami's abilities hit allied champions they gain 30 movement speed for 1.5 seconds.

Explanation:

This is extremely useful for catching up to foes or speeding your self to position for a Aqua Prison.

**REMEMBER Nami's Aqua Prison and Tidal will trigger this passive if it lands on friendlies.



Q: Aqua Prison

ACTIVE: Nami sends a bubble into the air towards a targeted area. When it lands, it deals magic damage to all enemies in the area of impact and stuns them for 1.25 seconds.

Explanation:

This is the ability that is most crucial to land. It has incredible utility making the enemy useless for a short period of time, it has decent damage, and it is AOE. Max this second.



W: Surging Tides

ACTIVE: Nami unleashes a stream of water that bounces between allied and enemy champions. This ability can only bounce to each target once and hits up to 3 targets. The damage or healing value is reduced by 15% with each bounce.

On ally hits, Ebb and Flow heals the target and bounces towards a nearby enemy champion. On enemy hits, the torrent deals magic damage and bounces towards a nearby allied champion.

Explanation:

This is Nami's main damage ability. Being a point and click ability it is quite difficult to miss your target. This is extremely good for poke in lane exchanges because not only does it deal damage it also returns to heal Nami if she is in range. The spell bounces up to 3 times and the order of the bounce is as follows: Enemy - Friendly - Enemy or Friendly - Enemy - Friendly. Use this wisely.



E: Aqueous Empowerment

ACTIVE: Empowers an allied champion for 5 seconds or until they have attacked 3 times. During this time, their basic attacks deal bonus magic damage and slow the target hit for 1 second.

Explanation:

This ability isn't all that useful as AP Nami mid except for better farming, pushing and a small bit of harass. It could be really useful when placed on an ADC who is auto attacking with good attack speed.



R: Tidal Wave

ACTIVE: Summons a tidal wave outward from Nami's position. The tidal wave briefly knocks up enemies that it comes into contact with, slows them and deals magic damage. The slow duration increases based on how far the tidal wave has traveled, with a minimum duration of 2 seconds and a maximum duration of 4 seconds.

Explanation:


Not much to say about the Ult except that it has a massive range and takes up about 70-75% of the lane. It moves relatively slow.




For Nami's burst you should hit ult for the knock up - Q for the suppress and damage - W for extra damage and heal - and finally if the enemy isn't dead yet E for the auto attack damage and movement speed.

Summoner Spells



Explanation:

This is the basic for any Mid lane. Ignite to secure kills and reduce healing and Flash for get away or chase.

Other Possibilities:


If the lane enemy has extremely high burst.



If the lane enemy has high sustain.



If you don't have flash.

Ah.... "useless E". :( her E is awesome
When I play Nami mid I rush a Nashor's Tooth on her, and I max E first. the harass is amazing, the burst is even better. land 3 E hits on her, land R, W, Q (while they're slowed from the ult) and keep spamming basic attacks with E, it's amazing. she can 1v1 almost anyone hahah
