Champion Matchups

The Author

Hello! The account that i play the vast majority of my wukong games on is BlueCrescendo. I have around 65-70% win rate with Wukong in over 150 games. I have played League for about two years already. My Account, Blue Crescendo, plays wukong in about 50% of his 300 games and is currently hovering around 2.1-2.2k elo. There not much I can say about myself. I like to play League.... Oh Btw this is my first guide i've ever written so please don't judge too hard.[imgext=]

Introduction

Wukong is an op early game and mid game dominance champion. Due to him not having any sustain he isn't the best champion to be played at top. He can be countered by many other champions at top, but not at mid because of the short distance between turrets. Also because of the popular new meta, ad bruisers, Wukong mid became more popular. People play wukong mid, but imo they don't do it properly. There are some tips and tricks in playing wukong mid that can gurantee you first blood and sometimes huge lane advtange and pressure. Remember, wukong mid is only for the determined not for the hesitant, u either do something or you don't. You cannot hesitate when u are going to because that will easier make you miss the chance of an engage or just make you suicide. This also applies in laning phase. If you see the enemy mid low enuf to kill go for it.

Runes

The Choice Runes used vs Ad and vs Ap

When you are vsing an ad you would use Flat Ad Reds, Armor Yellow, Armor blue and Penetration Quint If you are against a squishy ad you can always swap the the penetration for flat ad for more early burst.
When you are vsing an ap you would use Flat Ad Reds, Hp Per level Yellow, Magic Resist Blue and Flat ad Quints.

Summoner Spells

Explanation: On The Summoner Spells

The reason i get these are quite simple. For i only get this because it is really good with your , can help engage and most importantly because other people get this. When some1 else flashes, you flash too. Especially when you are trying to obtain first blood.
For I get this because it gives me kill potential early game and can also finish off people that have slivers of health left late game. Also if you are against a healer like fiddlesticks, this would wreck him.

Skills

Passive: Stone Skin

Explanation:
This skill is awesome paired up with and also it makes a huge difference in late game teamfights. At max level this skill can give up to 40 magic resist and armor and thats a lot. Wukong's passive may look very weak and useless, but late game its really good because it can compensate for the lack of resistance when you stack health like warmogs.

Q: Crushing Blow

Explanation:
Wukong's blow is really strong because of its massive range. It is really easy to abuse when you are laning against melee champions at mid. This also works great as a finisher and is really good paired up with . You can abuse this skill really easily early game because this skill can follow flash so it is really good when you use a combo like this >AA Target>AA>>.

W: Decoy

Explanation:
This skill is really good because it allows wukong to escape harrase, juke people, approach people and escape easily from ganks. When you are approaching an enemy it is always good to use ur w first so they dont know that ur coming. Also when you are deciding to go all in u shud atk then and then go behind and start killing them with .

E: Nimbus Strike

Explanation:
This Skill is the bread and butter of Wukong's early game harrase. This skill should be always maxed first no matter what. The atk speed boost this skill gives is really good and allows you to have better fast trade offs in a short term which is really good for mid lane, but not so much for top. This skill has really high damage output early game and should be abused. If you rush brutalizer u can catch your opponent off guard and 1 hit then if they are squishy at level 6 or 7 with >> >.

R: Cyclone

Explanation:
This ultimate is argueablely one of the deadliest ultimates if used correctly in the game. His ultimate is basically an aoe knock up that does a crap load of damage. It is really useful for mid game and early game because u can take our ur opponent easily and unexpectedly. I believe this is one of the highest damage ultimates in game at the moment. When using this skill in teamfights you always want to use it after most cc is gone or when engager engages. You dont want to engage teamfights with this unless u catch some1 off, or if ur team has no engages. It is really crucial to use this ultimate at the right time or it wont be as effective.

Skill Order

E>Q>W>E>E>R>E>Q>E>Q>R>Q>Q>W>W>R>W>W

I am maxing E first because it gives you the best poke and all in early game and mid game. E gives the most base damage scaling per level out of wukong's skills and it also has a really low cd which make it spammable. The next skill to max is basically self-preference. You can max w first to make w lower cd so you can survive longer in mid game scrims and teamfights and also you can max ur q to increase burst potential. Finally, your always suppose to max r whenever its up.

Item Builds

Wukong can go many item builds hes a very versatile champion. For mid you generally wanna build pure damage, but you can always add some tank items in your build to survive longer late. Also if you are really behind you can always transition to tank so you can last longer and help you team out.

Reccomended items:
Blood Thirster: Gives life steal which is really good to come back from low health and gives a crap loada damage.
Black Cleaver: Really op early game and mid game item gives penetration, health and damage which are all really important.
Last Whisper: Gives Penetration so you can deal true damage and kill tanks much easier.
Randuins Omen: Really good with ultimate and to kill back line with also good to stop enemy bruisers from getting to back line and slowing em down.
Guardian Angel: So you cant be taken outta a fight immediately. When you are really fed you might want to consider this because people will focus you a lot.
Mercury Treads: To lower the time of all the cd and gives u a ns speed boost.
Warmogs: So you become really beefy and people cant kill you.
Yomuus Ghostblade: This item is really good for killing back line and rushing in. You might want to consider this if enemy back line is really squishy and u are sure u can 1 hit with yomuus and the extra pen.
Mercurial Scimitar: If enemy has really heavy cc and u cant get to backline this helps a lot.
Banshees Veil: If enemy ap is really fed.

Counter Picks

There are many counter picks to wukong at top, but there aren't as many at mid. I won't go through the counter picks for top, but I will go through each mid champion and how they will do against wukong and what you should do against the enemy mid champion.

: Items to Start:Or :You generally want to kill her before she hits level 6. You want to go really aggressive from level 2-5 if you can make her waste all her mana so she doesn't have enough mana to use her ultimate at level 6 you can all in her. You generally wanna start longsword 2 pots or flask, 5 potions and a ward against her. You want to do wraith or wolves at level 1 depending on where your jungler starts. If your jungler starts red you do wolves, blue you do wraith. Regardless, you want to ask the lane that is closest to the camp to help you, either bot lane or top lane. You want them to give you a few hits. If it is top lane you might consider sharing exp with them. If it is bot lane tell them to give you a few hits and then leave especially if you have doran's blade because you have limited health and you don't want to use it all up at level 2. If you cannot get help from your lane I would get long sword and two instead because then I still have health left in lane.
Difficulty:Mediumn

: Items to Start: or :Against AkaliI recommend you to go all in on if you hit level 2 before her. You generally want to kill her before she gets her shroud. You will want to do either wraith or wolves at level 1 to get the early advantage. If you cant kill her before she hits level 2 then you can still poke her and force her shroud and then go all in. In order to hit level 2 before her you would want to do wraith or wolves depending on where your jungler starts at level 1. You can request help from other lanes to give u a few hits so you can lower the damage dealt to you. Once you hit level 6 or 7 you will want to buy a pink ward so you can drop it on her shroud and go all in on her when she expects it the least and hopefully get the kill. If she roams follow her or bait her to follow you. If she gets fed protect your backline and focus her down mid game and late game.
Difficulty:Mediumn

: Items to Start: : You want to play safe against an anivia at early levels. You can choose to do wraith or wolves at level 1 but usually you cant kill anivia at level 2 because of her passive, best you can do is blow it. If you catch her off guard trying to harrase you u can turn with your and kill her. If she dies in the middle lane you can usually kill her before she respawns or right after it because of your immense passive damage with your fast cd and attack speed buff on your and the penetration and extra proc your gives. Ask for jungler ganks and try to bait anivia away from her lane. You can roam bot and top to get advantage. once you hit 7 you have huge potential to kill her unless she starts stacking armor when your jungler ganks or when she is out of lane because you can kill her before she spawns. Otherwise just play passive unless she is out of position.
Difficulty: Mediumn

: Items to Start: Or : Annie is a really easy lane for you. She is really squishy before she gets her flame shield and you can easily kill her at level 1 or 2. Unless she gets armor runes and cloth 5 at level 1 it is really really easy to kill her. Even if she gets both of those it is still easy to kill her. I would recommend starting long sword at 2 pots unless they're jungler has really strong kill potential at level 2 or 3 like jarvan and shaco. You would want a level advantage over her so I would do wraith or wolves at level 1 and, of course always ask the lane closest to the camp to help you to take less damage. This will almost gurantee you a level advantage over her so you can all in her at level 2. You would want to harrase her a little at level 1. Use your and two auto attacks on her so she gets to around half health. Keep track of your experience bar and then when you hit two immediately go on her if your distance from is far then you can and , AA Target in Mid air and with ignite this would definitely secure first blood because your follows the flash so even if the enemy flashes it they will still get hit so its a gurantee first blood if you play it right. Also at level 6 if she gets no armor you can kill her in 1 shot if you get enough damage from your next trick back which must include long sword or dorans blade. You can just dive her if she has no stun and kill her preferablely at half or 3/4 easily if she has no flash and your sure jungler isn't near.
Difficulty:Really Easy

: Items to Start: Or : Against Brand it should be a fairly easy lane unless you get fully caught out from a jungle gank. If he tries to go all in on you, unless your under your turret you can just turn around with your and kill him. At early levels you can abuse your early game burst really easily. Do Wraith or wolves at level 1 to get early advantage and ask the lane closest to the camp to help you out so you take minimal damage. If you are starting long sword their jungler should be fairly weak early level. No matter what you start you should always be trying to go all in at level 2. Since you did jungle camp you will hit 2 before them most likely and unexpectedly. You want to strike when they dont expect it so you can usually kill them at level 2. Just your full combo with >AA Lock>AA> at level 2 and kill. If you don't kill them wait for level 6 and bait them or just go back for more items. You can ask your jungler to gank and snowball afterwards by roaming other lanes and baiting him making him think that he is safe but actually you are hiding in a bush and then and all in him to kill him. If Brand gets shut down early it is hard for him to come back.
Difficulty: Easy

: Items to Start: :Cassiopeia is a really strong early game and mid game champion. You will have to be aware of his early game burst potential and play safe until you your skill up. Especially at level one. She can easily burst some1 at level 2 and can blow your flash if she lands sufficient amounts of q at level 1. So play safe until you have all your skills at level three and then look to do some trade offs. If you dont let her sow ball and dont die to her early game then, most likely you will win the lane after 6 if you play it right and stay at skin time length and flash her ulimate. The main thing to watch out for is her burst damage. Do not try to all in her at level 1 or 2 unless she is a level below you or if you see her miss her q. At mid game if she does not build any armor you can easily one shot her and bait her to death. If she starts to roam aware your teammates and don't follow where she went cause she can easily burst you with her ultimate and her movement speed from her q and slow from w. Late game just try to not get ultimated by her. Do not engage fights
against her, her ultimate is devastating against you.
Difficulty: Hard

: Item to Start: Or Or

Early Game

Wukong's early game is really strong. He has one of the highest burst potentials in the game at level 2 because of his incredible double auto attack combo. If you time it correctly and use ur auto attack target key and lock it onto the enemy champion while you to him you can land 1 more auto attack so that would be 2 auto attacks because you do one in mid air and then you do one on the ground so it should be >AA TARGET>AA>> with ad runes and dorans or long sword this combo can do over 500 damage at level 2 if you do this correctly you can most likely get firs blood unless the enemy is stacking armor. If they are stacking armor, armor runes, armor masteries and cloth armor you will want to play it more safe. You can still burst them but not as efficient as before. You will need to harrase them a bit before pulling the combo off. If you are starting long sword or dorans you generally want to go all in at level 2-4 and then back out. However ,if your starting flash you should use ur ward at around 2:40 to ward the river or enemy wraith exit. Once you hit 6 you can try to all in combo using >> or you can use > AA Target> AA>>AA>> if they try to kill you because your things are on cd you fake that you are going to run then turn around with w and kill them with this combo. If your lane is always pushed in you can either do wraith or roam top or bot to get free kills.

Mid Game

Wukong mid game is argueablely one of the best when played right. He can turn around team fights from 3v5, take objectives like dragons and turrets, snowball advantages and win mid game scrims. There are many priorities for wukong in a mid game team fight. Top priorities differ from how fed your team and how fed their team is, specifically how fed their backline or frontline is. When an enemy back line is fed you generally want to assasinate them, either from behind or directly jumping on them from the front. However ,if your ad is fed and they have good assasins or just generally good people to kill your backline with you will want to protect your backline from their frontline. Use your ultimate on the people to peel for your backline and kill them, however, if you catch their backline outta position you generally would want to kill: if they overextend to try to kill people. It all depends on the situation in a teamfight. You generally focus the person that is fed unless he is a tank, or if your backline is getting crushed u help them out. If you get fed from early game you will want to take objectives like turrets, dragons and even baron which are both really easy for wukong to do. He can kill turrets off really easily with the attack speed buff from his and the extra damage and proc from his to hit them when they are off guard for an easy pick off. Try to pick people off and catch up if you are behind mid game.

Late Game

Late game generally the part where wukong is more skill based on. Wukong can easy do really horriblely and do nothing at all late game or change team fights around completely and that all depends on when you use ur and . You usually don't want to engage team fights with your because then they can easily peel you off, cc you and kill you. You will want to hit it when a team fight has already begun whether they engaged or your teammates engaged. If they have a really fed backline you generally want to kill it, but if they have heavy peel and they expect you to go in just peel for your backline instead and go in when their frontline is almost dead or when u find an oppertunity. For example, when an enemy is trying to engage you can go in from the back and sandwich them with your ultimate and your team surging forward. That will usually create chaos for the enemy team because their backline may be trying to run for their lives and their frontline may get cced and left behind. If they engage you can usually have a free kill on their backline unless they're extremely fed or you are just too behind. In baron fights you generally don't want to be in the pit because thats where all the cc is going to be and you might die instantly from the initial burst, so it is best to stay aside unless you are sneaking it and want to clear it fast. You're general engage for team fights is either #.1>>> or #.2>> depending on if they can cc you right away you use combo number two, but if they cant u use combo number 1. Decoy timing is really important you wanna time it properly. If u can do a sneak up on their backline for sure decoy but if you cant its better to save it later in case you get heavily focused.

Team Fights

If you have read through my early game, mid game and late game guide i think you should be fine in team fights because I explained everything about team fights mid game and late game in those two guides. Just remember it is key to play without hesitation. If you are in a team fight and you hesitate even for 2 or 3 seconds you will either lose chance, die, get really low or your team will get obliterated. If you see their enemy backline our of position don't hesitate to get them. When I first started playing wukong i hesitated especially when I used my and trust me when you use your decoy and you stealth it is 1.5 precious seconds. You either turn on them when you use decoy or you run and juke. If you are using the decoy to run a way it is better to run the way that they ran to chase you, the opposite direction they think you are going to run or just run into a bush so they think that you disappeared. Target the carries that are fed in a team fight or target the targets that are doing the most in a team fight. You can easily win a game even if you are down 10 kills and one carry like the ad carry as all the kills. You just have to target and one hit the ad carry to win the fight and hopefully turn the game. This has happened a lot of times for me. That is pretty much all You can do in a team fight.
