Champion Matchups

Introduction

Hi, im from Eu West and my main role is top. I love playing Lee in top, mid or jungle because of his high mobility and i think im not the only one, who loves this pros. Lee Sin has an incredibly strong laning phase and is a great duelist in lane. When he gets ahead he can punish his opponents, snowball into the mid game and become a disaster for the other team. One more thing about Lee Sin: he's a mobile tanky bruiser, who is very hard to deal with from early to mid game.

PROS:

  • High mobility
  • High early-mid game damage
  • Great damage scaling
  • Strong laning phase due to high potential of 1v1 dueling. (Has sustain, attack speed slow, high damage)
  • Can escape hard situations for example: your getting ganked by 3-4 people, but your mobility is to high for them and u can mess their minds hard

CONS:

  • Not Very Tanky
  • Weaker late game then a lot of other bruisers
  • Banned/Picked fairly often in Ranked
  • Need to hit Q to maximize your damage output

Masteries

My general opinion of the new masteries is just that the defense tree is too strong not to dip into. You can use masteries 21-9-0 if you want to be really aggressivlly and it's good for the early game damage aspects it offers. I would say that this choice is good against champions that can't out damage you in early game. And this setup provides the most damage and trading power versus lanes where you want to get an early kill.
But it doesn't seem such good choice for me... I would say 9-21-0 would be the best choice, almost everytime. Especially against Darius and Riven!

I don't want to talk what any of the masteries skills do and what bonuses it gives you, because i think you can read it...

If your going TOP vs heavy AP damager i would use these masteries, because it gives you more magic resistance. But still masteries can't change all game, u still should buy magic resistance items if your opponent is going for AP items.

Against Melee/Killable Lanes : Wukong, Cho'Gath, Jax, Rumble, etc.
The 21/9/0 setup provides the most damage and trading power versus lanes where you want to get an early kill.

Against Burst/Dangerous Lane : Renekton, Garen, Udyr, etc.
Take 9/21/0 because it gives you HP/REGEN and 3% lifesteal for sustain. It fits same for the lane where your opponent can poke you hard, such as : Gangplank, Nidalee, Teemo, Vladimir, etc.

Runes

I use fairly standard solo top runes for champions with AD scalings. Flat attack damage(marks), magic resist per-lvl (glyphs) flat armor(seals) and flat AD(Quintessences).

Why MR per-lvl? I chose them because MR isn't needed in early game, well there is an exception if you know that your going to fight vs heavy AP champ. But when you take MR per-lvl your ganks can be stronger, mid ganks etc. and it will help you in MID game much more. The AD runes are necessary for Lee Sin and the armor flats really helps you VS heavy AD champions. Formerly i used armor pen runes, but when it got nerfed... I don't recommend them now. Like NEVER!

Summoner Spells

Explanation:

Flash is an all-around great summoner spell. In addition to using this spell defensively to escape a gank, Lee can also utilize this spell in an offensive manner. Flash allows you to make big plays and allows you to be really ballsy.

Ignite will allow you to effectively duel almost anyone in top lane, it does true damage so it cannot be countered by armor. It also lets you finish off low hp enemies and ignite will let you stop high health regeneration and lifesteal(such as mundo's ult and HEAL).

Other options:

Definitely a great pick for Lee, it can allow your QRQ combo to add a bit more damage. Exhaust can also allow you to run around an opponent and ult them in any direction you wish. Well, one more good thing abaut this spell that it slows enemy's AS(attack-speed) and his damage dealt to you is reduced. Well obviously it slows Movement-speed too!

It allows you to stay in top more then your opponent and it's good for dragon control too, especially when your playing with your friends(that's my opinion).

You may take it instead of flash if it fits your play style. BUT FOR ME THIS SPELL IS KINDA SHITTY ON LEE SIN.

I've seen people getting heal and ignite to dominate their lanes, but for me i don't really know. It for you to decide. But keep in mind u will not have an escape tool.

Don't take these for top lane.

You have a shield that can save your life from an ignite, and the enemy team mostly will focus your adc.. So not worth taking.

YOU'RE MANALESS!!!

When i tooked this and lost i got reported lol.

If you're jungling you must take this. But for top lane don't.

Skills

Passive: Flurry

Explanation:
This passive is very great for duelling, because it gives you attack speed and 15 energy on every auto attack. However, if you don't want to waste your passive you musn't spam your abilities. For example: use your Q --> 2 auto attacks --> Q --> 2 auto attacks and so on...

Q: Sonic Wave

Explanation:

Your main damage output, gap closer. Awesome combo with your ult that does ridiculous burst damage, you can check bushes with this spell and it reveals stealth. By the way this skill helps you to get all CS(minions) and poke your opponents from distanse. If correctly used with W you can hit Q on your opponent, press Q again and use W on minion or your team-mate to go back.

W: Safeguard

Explanation:

Defensively, it allows you to save people from dying with the extra hp from the shield and by allowing you to come to their side and fight. It gives you lifesteal(better sustain). You can also use this to escape from ganks by W'ing to an ally, a creep, or even a ward. Offensively you can use this to close the gap on people allowing you to slow them with E and you will have 99% to hit your Q. It gives you lifesteal and spelvamp(better sustain). You can also use this to escape from ganks by W'ing to an ally, a creep, or even a ward. Offensively you can use this to close the gap on people allowing you to slow them with E and you will have 99% to hit your Q.

E: Tempest

Explanation:

Lee's only source of magic damage. This skill is great to have against auto-attackers such as Tryndamere or Fiora. It's great early game AoE damage. One of the best thing what this skill can do: it helps you slow down targets when you're ganking. And if you're laning a champion for exmaple wukong who has a stealth ability use E to reveal him.

R: Dragon's Rage

Explanation:

Lee's ult is used in his high-burst combo, QRQ. Hit Q on your enemy then R him and Q back again (wait for him to land) to him. This wil hurt a lot. Especially when you get . You can also combo this with Q and E to get behind your target and kick them into your team or place a ward if chasing, press W on it and R to kcik him away out of turret or into your team-mates.

Lee's ult can also be used as a counter initiation, if u possition your self correctly you may go and fight 2-3ppl. Because when you use R on enemy champion it kicks him back in to the air. You can R one opponent but do dmg to all of them. Remember, collision units still receive full damage from the ult.

Skill Order

If you want to be aggressivlly and you are good at landing skill-shots then max first then and last. And definitely take ultimate at level 6,11 and 16.

If you want to farm, be passive, absorb enemy's poke you can max . How to understand absorb enemy's poke? That means to shield your self when your opponent is using poke ability, such as Pantheon's spears, Vladimir's Q's and E's and more other champions... And if you max W you can easily outsustain almost everyone when you get .

Maxing is necessary vs champions that have a lot of attack speed, such as Fiora, Tryndamere, Teemo and more... And it helps when you are ganking, that's why you dont really need . Not always you can max only VS AS speed champions, it really helps when you fight 1v1 against any other champion. You can max and to do much more damage to your enemy's than with your maxed .

You have a lot of mobility and you can even slow your enemy's, so they dont have much chance to escape you. If you are not very good at landing skill shots, do this: when your opponent goes to last hit, W to that minion use E and slow him and then easily hit Q. I suggest not to do this if there are a lot of enemy's minions in there, because you will recieve tons of damage and they will block your Q.

Item Discussions

I usually start with boots and 4 potions, because it makes me fell safe from danguerous junglers, it's easier to dodge enemy skillshots with the movement speed, easier to follow up ganks and it let's you do
the hit-and-run strategy.

It's a verry good purchase if you don't want to take a lot of damage from an ad bruiser like darius/nidalee/riven. Plus it gives you 5 potions for a lot of lane sustain.

Over-all a good early-mid game item. IT gives you 80 healt, 10 attack damage and restores 5 hp on every autoattack. I always take this item because the healt will let you survive longer and lifesteal more.

Very good item. Ii gives you more armor if you're having problems with an ad bruiser or you're getting ready to fight a fed enemy AD carry. And the passive that ignores 10% of autoattacks of any unes (doesn't ignore from turrets though). And of course the Enchanted Movement 2.

Very good item too! It gives you magic resist to be able to fight vs. AP bruisers and the nice Tenacyti passive if you're against a high cc team. And of course the Enchanted Movement 2.

In mid game, when you have a few items get this. it willgive you a lot of ad, some life steal and your Q will do a lot of damage. when you have this item stacked, try not to die and DON'T GO 1V5, until you have G.A or something like that, because you will lose half of your stacks.

Buy this item after B.T. this item will give you a niceamount of armor, some magic resist and most importantly you will be able to revive after death and continue fighting. Just keep in mind that you will not have full heath.

So enemy team is building only armor and your B.T doesn't do damage? No problem, the last whisper will give you 40 AD and the passive that ignores 35% of the opponents armor (e.x the opponent ignores 50% of physical damage,so he will ignore only 25% damage from you)

It's a good choice if you're against a malphite who stacked armor of you want a Black Cleaver definately a good item. It gives you a solid 25 AD, 10% cooldown reduction which is also very good on lee and the +10 armor penetration.

So you're having problems cathing or staying to your lane opponent or the enemy ad carry? So this is a very good item to buy. It gives you 40 Ad, 10% and the passive and active is very good.

Passive: Your attacks deal 4% of the target's current health in physical damage and heals you for half the amount (120 max vs minions).

Active: Drains target champion, dealing 150 physical damage plus 50% of your attack damage and healing you by the same amount. Additionally you steal 30% of their movement speed for 2 seconds - 60 second cooldown. (500 range)

If you bought brutalizer might is well buy this item too. It gives you 250 healt to survive better in teamfights, it gives you 40 AD and the same ammount of cooldown reduction. But the passive is kinda good. It has a good passive too for high armor champions!

Passive: Dealing physical damage to an enemy champion reduces their armor by 6.25% for 4 seconds. This effect stacks up to 4 times (stack up to 25%).

A very good item if the enemy ad carry or the ad bruiser if fed and i just owning the team. Although the 400 mana on Lee Sin is a waste, but the 90 armor and the 20% cdr and the 20% atack speed slow is really worth it. So bassicly what this item does is it shutdowns attack speed champions like Miss Fortune/Tryndamere/Fiora and it gives armor to surivive better and help your team.

In mid game if you get fed, and the enemy team has fed AP carries or a lot of cc this item is very good. This item will give you AD and the QSS active ability with now a nice passive that gives you movement speed after you activate it (only works if you're a melle champion, which you are!) and of course it gives you magic resist.

Great hp item if you're going tank or whatever on Lee. It gives you 1000 healt which is soo much and the healt regeneration. So basicly when you will have Guardian Angel and this you're basicly unkillable, so use that to your advantage.

Another good health and armor item. Sunfire cape gives you 450 healt and 45 armor. It's passive is not bad too! The passive does 40 magic damage, and sometimes you can kill a stealh champion which has like 10hp. This item is kinda good in the mid game, but at late game nobody will care about 40 magic damage.

So you're laning against a ap or the mid lane got fed this item is very good. It gives you 55 AD, 36 magic resist and the passive, that shields you for 400 magic damage is very much. The other passive that gives you more AD the less health you have is not bad too. Over all this is a very good item in my opinion.

I said don't buy this item and i will explain why. First of all ill talk about the slow. You don't need the phage slow because you already have one on your E, and it doesn't give a lot of healt. The zeal gives you attack speed and crit chance. Well the attack speed but you still get 40% from the passive. Crit is absolutely not needed on lee sin. The sheen gives mana and ability power. Now lee doesn't have mana and the AP scaling on W is really terible.. But the passive that deals more damage after a skill use is good.=, but still. And the triforce cost a lot. Better get a bloodthirster or someting.

Gives you 700 health, 30 AD and the passive slow that slows movement speed by 40%. Not a very bad item and not a very good item. It does it's purpose at sticking to a target and not dieing. Nothing more to say about this.

The old spirit visage wasn't good, but this new one is not really bad at mid game. Gives you 200 health, 50 magic resist and 15% cooldown reduction. The passive works very well with a warmorg's because it increases healing and regeneration by 20%. This passive also increases life steal and spell vamp too! But sadly soraka/sona/taric will not heal you for more.

I just found this item on the wiki. It does give you 50 AD, 14 health regen, 7 mana regen 10% cdr. The stats aren't too bad. Your damage to monsters are increased by 25% to. But what i liked the most about this item is like a permenent red buff that deals 15-66 true damage based on champion level. But this doesn't slow the enemy. But combined with a frozen mallet and red this is very deadly.

Well this item is really stronk for Lee Sin. It gives you 70 armor and 500 health which is really stronk at s3. What i like most about this item is his passive: if you are hit by a basic attack, you slow the attacker's attack speed by 20% and their movement speed by 10% for 1.5 seconds. That's almost like frozen heart but instead of cdr, you get some health and slow your opponents movement speed. This item is good in teamfights because of his slow, active slow. If you get frozen heart you dont need this item anymore because they are almost the same type, and if you get randuin's omen, dont buy frozen heart.

You need this item to escape from ganks, go in front of your enemy and kick him back to your team. And as you know it gives you vision. So when you get back to base try to get 1 or 2 wards and always have them if you need to escape or make big plays and for warding your lane(river).

Early Game

Nothing much to do in the early game... Just farm up your lane, hit Q for poking or for lasthiting. After you get around 550~ gold i suggest you pushing your lane and going back to get a dorans blade and a ward. Why go back so early? Well first off all the ward you bought will protect you from the enemy jungler ganks and the dorans blade will give you 80 health, 10 AD and your basic attacks will restore 5 health each time you autoattack. This means you will be better at 1v1'ing our lane opponent and you might be able to get a kill. After you come back to your lane, ward the river or tri-brush and continue farming/poking etc. When your jungler comes follow up on ganks and kill your lane. If you see good aportunities attack your enemy by yourself and if you snowball your lane don't throw your lead away.

Mid Game

This is where lee shines the brightest. Now if you're winning your lane push the tower and go roaming, but remember that if you go roaming it doesn't mean you don't have to come back top ever again. You still need to roam a bit, come back, push-out the lane and repeat the procces. When you gank your bot lane try to give the kills to your ADC to let them snowball too! Try to get objectives and ward them, for example : dragon, towers, buffs and control the enemy jungle by warding it. If you're ahead try to force teamfights by baron dancing and baiting the enemy team. If your team is not ahead just try to power farm, ward your jungle and try to pick off alone enemies till you come back in to the game (if that is possible). If you get baron try not to waste it by just walking around the map, try to push as hard as possible.

Late Game

Now this is the tricky part... Lee sin isn't good late game as i said, so now you should focus sticking to the enemy APor AD carry and kick them in with your ult in your team. If you have problems doing that try
to sell any AD item and buy something tanky, for exmaple Sunfire Cape, Randuin's Omen or whatever you need to survive. After this there is nothing much to do besides that. Of course you do the baron dance and wait
to the initiation by the enemy team or wait for the best time to initiate your self. Of course before you iniatiate remember to look if your teammates have their ults (the green circle near their champion icon).

Team Fights

In teamfights you should focus the enemy teams AD/AP carry. Ward-hop in front of the carry and kick her in
your team. If you see, that a teamfight started andit's not in your favor ult away all enemies and wait for a better engage next time. Also keep in mind, that kicking tanks can also hurt caries if u aimed it
correctly. So basicly u Q --> ward-hop infront --> kick in to your team --> Q back and you should win the teamfight. But if you have a really good initiator like Nautilus or Maokai you should focus defending your most fed carry for exmaple : slowing them, kicking them away, shielding your carry and so on.

Top Lane Matchups

Skill wins lane first, how you play it's second, and item choices third. I will help you to win the matchups, but i dont say that u will read how to do it and BAM! YOU WIN EVERY GAME. No this won't happen, i needed time to get ballzy with him. If you fail once don't give up, you'll need time.

So let's begin.

(Akali -4)

Starting items: OR

I think that you should win this match pretty easy. Your all skills accept R and W detects stealth champions, that's the best thing having VS Akali. You will certainly win trade with her when you hit lvl 6. Try to engage her when you got ult, at the same min. She will only have 1jump, but if she has full hp i would say that you shouldn't tower dive her. She still may kill you.
If your having any kinda trouble, get . And your problem is solved.

Important notes:

  • She can't 1v1 you, you are much stronger in a straight 1v1 fight.
  • She can't juke you, always remember this.
  • You will outdamage her and outsustain her.
  • Getting MR and HP will make her match harder.
  • You will probably zone her.
  • Use E when she's in her circle.

(Chogath -9)

Starting items:

This match will be hardcore for you. In early game you have a chance to kill him, because you can wreck him by dodging his CC and fighting him 1v1. But later, after he gets some armor and Feast stacks, he will outfarm you and kill you very easy. Try to get all the farm and kills till you can... Because later - you're a joke to him.

Important notes:

  • With Lee, i won't suggest to play VS him. EVER.
  • You may win this lane with junglers help.
  • If you killed him and he lost his stacks, dont let him to get them back again(almost impposible).
  • Dont die to him, farm and you have chance to win this match.
  • Get .
  • Don't try to fight him when he has ult + ignite up.

(Darius -8)

Starting items: OR

This one is pretty even actually, you just have to level your shield and lee can withstand most of the damage from Darius. And if he gets a gank, Darius is fucked! On 6lvl though you have to watch out for Darius. Because Darius burst is just to big for you. Try to get or

Important notes:

  • Use your mobility to dodge Q's and E's.
  • Get some HP.
  • Ask jungler for help, and you should win this match.
  • If you have half-hp i dont think you should fight him.
  • Darius doesn't have any skill wich would help him, when he's ganked(Only flash ofc...).
  • Be very careful when he hits level 6.

(Fiora -5)

Starting items:

This match could be very easy or very hard for you. You need to get , because her W passive gives her AD and E will give her a lot of attack speed. She can build armor pen items and do big amount of damage because of her W passive. And if you get FROZEN HEART her attack speed is reduced and you get some armor. If you use your skills correctly - you will win every trade. Whenever she uses her Burst of Speed and starts to harass you, just use Tempest/Cripple. After that, she is an easy kill for you since she has no escapes. Well one more good item vs her is , it will help you a lot. If you lose early game go gank MID or counter jungle, because you wont stand a chance VS her.

Important notes:

  • Whenever she uses W, try not to auto attack, it will help you to win the trade.
  • When she gets ult play more defensively, because her damage will come very very high. Thats my mistake when i was playing VS fiora... My calculation almost every time was very bad.
  • Try not do dive her if she has ult (she becomes untargetable).

(Gangplank -8)

Starting items: OR

This match should be hard for you. Im not saying that every match will be hard, but if your playing VS gangplank who knows what he is doing, i think you're screwed. One good thing that you have a shield, that can absorb his Q. Gangplank is really annoying with his oranges. If you use E and slow him he will eat oranges, get back some lost HP and then own you. If he’s heavily harassing with Parrley(Q) like he should against you, you dont have any chance. Just try to farm, but that's hard when he can Q you standing behind minions.

Important notes:

  • Ask for your team-mates for early gank.
  • Get a lot of armor and try not to fight with him 1v1, unless your minions are helping you.
  • Try to kill him in early game, as fast as you can.
  • Dont die to him very early, because your game will become super hard.
  • Keep in mid that Gangplank's W will remove every CC (crowd control) from him. (Slow, stun etc.)

(Garen -6)

Starting items:

You can find holes in Garen's defense. You can poke him when you see that his spin is on CD, you can trade with your skills and basic attacks. But still, a lot of people say that garen is lee's counter. I believed that is true too, but if u play correctly you can win. When he uses spin on minions, try to hit Q--->Q, do some dmg, and W back to minion or ward. But he can be a bull in lane too, if he uses his spin only when you last hit - you lost the lane. Try not to fight him 1v1 when he has spin skill up.

[highlight]Important notes:

  • At level 2, start using hit and run tactics.
  • Take Ninja Tabi and a Doran’s Blade fast.
  • I prefer to max W from level 6.
  • Garens ultimate deals additional damage from your missing health.

(Irelia -7)

Starting items:

Till level 6 you can beat her ass, but later she can destroy you. Her sustain is bigger, and her W does a lot damage. I prefer you not to fight when her W is on, because it will definitely hurt. When you go 1v1 always try to have ignite. Because her main counter thing is - healing reduction. If u see that she engages on you when there are a lot of minions, dont miss calculate her. And you know why? Because she will get back much more health then she does when fighting 1v1 with you. That's one mistake many players do. And even if you dive her - she can stun, ult you and Q. That will hurt and probably you will die.

Important notes:

  • She has high sustain, higher then yours.
  • Dive her when only she has less then half health.
  • Dont mind 2 (second) important note if your fed.
  • Try to kill her till lvl 6.
  • Dont rage at your jungler when you dont get ganks.
  • Buy HP items so she wont burst you down so easy with W.

(Jax -7)

Starting items: OR

From level 1, try to play really aggressively. When he gets 6lvl start maxing W, outsustain him and from then start playing defensively. If Jax charges up a Counterstrike(E) then leaps to you, try to W on your minion and you wont get stunned. Try to get and you can fight vs him pretty even. If you're outfarming him and got some kills, you wont have any problem dueling with him.

Important notes:

  • Jax can be a scary matchup after level 6.
  • Why ? Because it's more easier to escape his stun and any jungler gank.
  • Try to W on your minion when he uses E (dodge spell) and you wont get stunned.

(Jayce -5)

Starting items:

I think Lee Sin counters Jayce pretty much. You want to know why? Well, first of all Lee Sin can dodge Jayce's accelerated shock blasts. Secondly, if your hited with it, your W will block some damage and then you can lifesteal. You will outsustain him and just kill him at lvl 6. By the way try to get .

Important notes:

  • Try to dodge his shock blasts.
  • Dont be afraid to fight him 1v1.
  • You can easilly outsustain him.

(Kennen -7)

Starting items: OR

This match is even. His E allows him to run from you, even if you hit him with Cripple(E). The most annoying thing is his stuns. These stuns can interrupt you from using your full passive. Get if he's AP, but if he goes AD you will be the leader of that lane. One really good thing that counters kennen is your ult. When he uses ult you press R and he will kockback and sometimes he will flash to you again, but when your with full HP he will only waste his flash. One more good item VS Kennen is and from that build .

Important notes:

  • Use R when he uses ult.
  • Get early MR and HP and you will own him.
  • Be aware of his stuns, that will interupt your full passive use.
  • If he comes to you with his speed skill use E and you will win this trade or force flash out of him.

(Kha'Zix -4)

Starting items:

Well almost the same as akali match - you detect stealth champions. U can absorb damage of his Q with W and when he jumps away you can Q back to him. I prefer to Q him and wait till he jumps away then press Q again, so you would follow him. Well what more... Ahh yes. Try to get OR

Important notes:

  • Your sustain is higher.
  • Lee is his counterer.
  • Use Q and when he leaps away Q again.
  • Get as many kills as you can.
  • You will probably zone him.

(Malphite -5)

Starting items:

Well you should win this match in early game. Later you wont do a **** if he farms good. Malphite needs only to farm and ult in teamfights. And if he gets killed it almost doesn't change a thing... Only he gets way betetr items. Malphite will go for a lot of armor and MR, but in early game you can still do dmg to him if you buy armor pen items like . But later when he gets a lot of armor you wont hit him almost anything, even if your fed. But malphite can go not for MR and armor only, he can get some ap too. For that get as allways.

Important notes:

  • When he uses Q use W to absorb the damage.
  • Try to hit him as soon as possible from your last attack on him so he wont get more HP from passive, best choice with E.
  • Try to kill him as soon as possible.
  • You should win early game with no problems, but later in teamfights if good malphite you wont do much damage to him.

(Nasus -5)

Starting items:

Well this match-up can vary greatly, all the way from easy to rather challenging. From the start you will zone him and if you're VS guy who knows how to play nasus, he will probably hug the tower. But if not you can get an easy FB. Later when he gets some defensive items you will need jungler help, because he will only stay under tower and regen health with his passive (lifesteal). I think that you should get either or .

Important notes:

  • Skill match-up.
  • If he comes to fight 1v1 you shouldn't go back.
  • Dont let him farm a lot, because later you will regret.

(Nidalee -6)

Starting items:

This can be a tough matchup that is really based a lot on player skill. If you want to play aggressively and snowball the lane, you should go for an early kill on her. As you know Q is your main damage skill after R, so if you miss Q on nidalee dont fight with her because of her movement-speed from her passive. Because of all the extra movement-speed she should have, dodging q's shouldn't be a problem and she will definitely outsustain you overall. Always try to block her Q when she's in cougar form with W, that will absorb a bit of that dmg. You can either max Q for early kill or W for sustain and damage absorbation.

Important notes:

  • Try not to fight and chase her in bushes.
  • Dont be suprised of her Q damage in cougar form.
  • Here i only talked about AD nidalee, because a lot of people play AD nid then AP.
  • If you max W first, she will have to work hard if she wants to kill you.
  • Almost all nidalee's hate when you max W because you get lifesteal, spellvamp and you can absorb her Q damage.
  • If your not skilled with Lee Sin, in opinion max W first.

(Olaf -4)

Starting items: OR

With this dude you shouldn't have problems if you do like i say. U can shield his true damage spell(E), dodge axe's with your high mobility and you can snowball this lane. First of all, you counter olaf's passive with your E skill, his E with your W skill, you have lower cooldowns and you will outdamage him easy. Engage on him with Q, then he will probably throw his axe and E you. Well when you get more experienced you should know when you will need to shield your self, but as a new player with Lee Sin you should Q to him and then if he runs E and slow him or if he fights W and then slow him. Doing this you wont have any problems. BUT REMEMBER THAT HE IS WAY STRONGER THEN YOU IN LATER GAME. SO DONT LET HIM GET EVEN THE FARM.

Important notes:

  • Attack Speed Reduction is one of the Olaf main counter mechanics, that is your E.
  • Dont fight him if he uses ult.
  • Be really balzy in early game.
  • If you wont let him farm and kill him some times, then that dude will probably rage quit.
  • Get HP items so his E wont burst you down so cuickly.

(Pantheon -5)

Starting items:

He can poke you in early game hard, but when you max your shield a bit you can take almost no damage. Always try to shield your self with W when he throws the spear. If he stuns you, uses HSS(E) try to W on minion or ward, that will lower his damage and you will outdamage him easy. At lvl 6 you should get a kill because his ult is ussles in 1v1 fight. You will have much more damage from then than him.

Important notes:

  • If he uses a stun on you, all you have to do is to W on minions (not always needed) and then Q back to him.
  • From lvl 6 start beeing aggressively.
  • Watch out for his crits because of his E passive.
  • Dont forget about his passive that will block attacks.

(Renekton -9)

Starting items:

If you wont do a mistake in early game, you can win. Some people say that Renekton is Lee Sin's counterer. As you know it all depends on players skills. Renekton in almost all ways are stronger then you. First of all he outdamages Lee, secondly does not rely at all on attack speed it makes your E ussles. Renekton can easily brake your shield if he stacked his passive and he has hard CC. What you need to do to win this lane is: when he slices (dashes) to you, uses stun try to shield your self and hit Q, but still you will recieve a lot of damage. And when he dashes back or anywhere else press Q again. Then all of his spells will be on cooldown and you will do the damage you need.

Important notes:

  • Dont do a mistake in early game.
  • Renekton outdamages Lee sin.
  • Renekton does not rely on attack speed at all.
  • Renekton's has higher mobility than lee's mobility.
  • Try not to pick Lee VS this guy.
  • There isn’t much you can do about the stun.
  • Your chance to win this lane is when his skills are on cooldown.

(Rengar -6)

Starting items: OR

I believe Lee Sin does very good against Rengar starting at lvl 3. When Rengar jumps on you W real quick before he lands Q and then E twice while auto-attacking him and you should win every trade. Just be aware of his E+Q. If his passive is stacked he will do a lot of damage from Q, so your best choice to wait when he uses any other spell on minions. You see Rengar same as Lee Sin relies on being in your face and that's good for you. You dont even need to Q him from distance, because he will jump on you if your fighting in the brush. One very good item VS him is .

Important notes:

  • Stay away from bushes.
  • Always use shield when he jumps on you.
  • Your Q,E can detect stealthed champions, that is his ult.

(Riven - Heavily Dependent on Enemy Skill Level)

Starting items: OR

You hit Q - you will outdamage her, but if you miss it, you will recive a lot of damage when your Q is on cooldown. Try to always fight her when you have E on her. Well as i said this match depends on enemy skill level. If she ults to soon and you have distance beetwen you two, try just to run away. That will lower her damage on you than she does basically and you will outdamage her easy. As you know her R cooldown is increased now.

Important notes:

  • Try to fight her when she has AS debuff from your E spell.
  • If you miss Q dont fight her 1v1.
  • Her damage with active R will become higher then yours.
  • If you have a chance to shield your self when she uses her R again - DO IT.

(Rumble -7)

Starting items:

This lane comes down to who gets the first kill in lane. If you do, you should win the lane with no difficulty till lvl 6. Lee Sin has high mobility and you need to use it. How can we do that? Well it's easy. When he uses R try to get out of that area with W on your minion, ward or hit Q on enemy minion and jump. But dont use Q on enemy minon if you will become further from your tower and if you used Q on minion never go back to fight him 1v1. Just run from him or something. If he gets a kill or two then guys you will be raped. Get when he gets ult.

Important notes:

  • Never fight him in his ultimate.
  • Remember that at 6 his ult will do a ton of damage to you. His burst will be higher than yours.
  • Try to engage on him when you see over heat (his passive). It is shown down his health bar.
  • Attempt to kill him before 6 for sure.

(Shen -5)

Starting items: OR

Shen is ridiculously hard to force out of lane for some annoying reason. This is mainly a farming matchup, you should never die. You can outpush him and sustain his damage output so this isn't a losing lane at all. If he gets a bit cocky he can be killable but if he just stacks armor forever than it becomes a very unfun lane.

Important notes:

  • Try to kick him if you see that he is using his ult.
  • Dont tower dive him in early game.
  • Don't die to an early jungle gank or you will have no hope of beating him in lane.
  • Ask for an early jungle gank.
  • Dont go near his tower when shen is there because he will taunt you and you may die.

(Shyvana -6)

Starting items:

This match-up should be won pretty easy because you have sustain and she doesn't. Well not always so easy as i thinked it would be. Her armor is increased when she gets ultimate, and she does almost the same damage as you. You should play safe and carefully. I really dont have anything else to say here.

Important notes:

  • She can do just as much, if not more, early game damage to you.
  • When she is in dragon form she becomes very very tanky.
  • Her MS is much higher than yours.
  • Be careful of fighting her 1v1 when she stacks armor, she is a strong 1v1 champion as well.

(Singed -4)

Starting items:

Lee Sin is very strong in early game and singed conversely. You should take him out easy, just watch out if your lane is pushed and you zone him under tower, so he wont flip you. Just destroy him before he can get any items and the lane is all yours.

Important notes:

  • Singed is very weak early game pre-Catalyst and boots.
  • Try not to chase him in the gas line like an idiot.
  • Snowball the lane.
  • Watch out for ganks.
  • When he ults or uses ghost slow him with E.

(Talon -2)

Starting items:

Lee Sin can take Talon's rake(Q) with W. Lee can reveal talon when he uses ultimate. If you hit Q him and he will ult, then he has no chance to escape because you will see where he's gooing and u can press Q gain to jump near him. If he ever goes in on you E, Q him with as many autos as you can. Lee Sin outsustains him in lane and he has energy not like talon, so he will probobly run out of mana in 2-3 harrasing combos. And try to harras him early.

Important notes:

  • Lee Sin outsustains him in lane.
  • You can detect stealth champions like this dude.
  • Max W to absorb rake damage.
  • Kick his ass.

(Teemo -7)

Starting items:

For me it's the most annoying champion ever. He can make u blind. Kinda weird that he can blind the Blind Monk Lee Sin. Well when he uses Q on you it hurts your DPS massively, but still you have a gap closer and that is a great thing against teemo. You can also reveal his position if he ever uses his passive to hide from you and your team. Try to go for early kill on him untill he gets 6 lvl and puts mushrooms everywhere. By the way he wont have much HP in early game so you can kill him quickly.

Important notes:

  • You can outsustain him pretty easy.
  • At level 6 you are much more powerful than he is in any 1v1, just dont chase him into bushes.
  • Once he has phage he can start kiting you so be careful.
  • If that teemo is really aggressive try not to miss any CS then.

(Tryndamere -4)

Starting items: OR

In early game you can win lane pretty easy. If he spins to you just slow him with E,Q--->Q and W back on minion or still fight him. Even when he gets that ultimate you can win trades pretty simple with ignite. And if you get in any trouble just wait for him to spin at you and immediately kick him away from you.
If you want to get the kill with ignite, all you have to do is wait a bit when his ult is active for 1-2seconds then use Ignite and wait for the kill. If tryndamere starts roaming and has a good farm, later he will be death machine. He will crit crit crit and kill your mid and ad carry team-mates. But as i said in early game you have more chances to win the lane. Get if he gets AS items.

Important notes:

  • Be aggressive whenever his ultimate is off cooldown.
  • Try to fight him when his fury bar is depleted, that is when he is weakest.
  • Use ignite to counter his ultimate.
  • Get armor and you won.

(Udyr -9)

Starting items:

His sustain is way better, his shield is way better, and his Tiger stance burst hurts a lot, and he has a stun. Udyr has more: Sustain, CC, DPS and is harder to gank. You will need your junglers help a lot VS this guy. It's almost impossible to kill this dude. If you want to win this lane with lee you have to Q in, E, then W out and you will only win the trade but it will be almost impossible for you to get last hits.

Important notes:

  • If you get to play TOP VS this dude try to change with your BOT.
  • Ask jungler for all the help you can get from him.
  • You have higher mobility, but not always. It depends on the situation.

(Vi -5)

Starting items: OR

If you dodge her E or shield your self - you will certainly win this match-up. When she uses an ability to you she will get shield form her passive, i would say wait for it go off and then attack her. Try always to slow her as soon as pissible so he wont hit 3 hits at you so quick. Why 3 hits? Well it's because of her W passive, wich will do a lot more damage. Watch out for ganks and you should be fine.

Important notes:

  • Your mobility is to high for her to deal with.
  • Shield or self when she uses E.
  • Her cooldowns are higher then yours. DONT FORGET THAT.
  • You can snowball this lane.

(Vladimir -7)

Starting items:

This can also be an annoying matchup to have. He can poke you easy and get back hp. What you need to do is to bait his poll. How can you do that? Well 1st of you should just come to him... Not with Q or anything just run into him and use E, then start auto-attacking and he will probobly use poll. Then Q--> Q him and again you will have slow. You could even force a flash from him. It's not a hard game when you get . This item counters his ult hard. And when ganking try to bait his poll with every spell you have. He will probobly run, use poll and come back a bit to you with poll and that's where you get the kill.

Important notes:

  • Try not to let him get free harass on you.
  • Dont push your lane if your not fed.
  • Try to bait his poll. You can bait it how you want even charging with Q, but always back with w.
  • Get hexdrinker as fast as you can.
  • If vladimir has ghost it is almost the same as with flash.

(Volibear -6)

Starting items:

Hmm. As Lee you will dominate in early game with help of your mobility. But if you get ganked and die... For that you will pay. He can start snowbolling if gets a kill or two. What you should do: when doesnt have stacked W for the bite, try to jump on him do some damage and then W back to minion. When you get ult and he is almost half health and you really want that kill. Well OK if you have ignite.
Hit Q then R then Q again and ignite that dude. That kill is yours. If he gets armor buy some armor penetration items and you win this lane.

Important notes:

  • Try to shield his bite.
  • Dont let him take an early kill.
  • If he engages on you just slow him and dash away.
  • Any damage you took from him you can lifesteal it back.

(Warwick -9)

Starting items:

Early game you may be able to get a kill here or there similar to facing Cho’Gath, but once he gets some armor he’ll just push, sustain, and ignore your damage. Try to get damage and armor pen items fast. And ask jungler for early gank and you might win this lane. It's all about teamwork and skill level. As for me i never pick Lee vs Warwick. But in blind pick you might get to play against him. If you dont want to take almsot any damage when your both with some lost hp then shiled your self when you start 1v1 fight vs him because he will probobly use Q to get some hp as fast as he can.

Important notes:

  • Change lane with your BOT lane.
  • He has more sustain than you.
  • Ask jungler for an early gank.
  • Dont feed him hard, just farm.
  • The enemy jungler won't really try to gank you when warwick doesn't have level 6.

(Wukong -2)

Starting items: OR

Well you counter him in every way. Wukong’s a pretty easy matchup for Lee Sin. All wukong's players harras like this Q-->E-->W and run away. But when he dashes to you use E and slow him. You will see him, he will be slowed and his Q, W, E spells will be on cooldowns. If he ults you - you can kick him away from you and then follow up with Q when ult is off. You shouldn't have any problems in this lane.

Important notes:

  • Get this monkey some bananas.
  • Snowball the lane and be ballzy.
  • Your sustain is higher then his.
  • You can absorb his Q damage with your shield.

(Yorick -6)

Starting items:

This lane can be a bit difficult, but with your sustain not so very hard. Lee Sin can survive this lane but won't kill Yorick easy, Yorick's ghouls block skillshots including Lee's Q. Ask jungler for early gank, you might get a kill. The hardest thing to do is to survive early game. Later you can 1v1 if he's not fed.

Important notes:

  • If you max W you can outsustain him and his ghouls damage.
  • You will need an early gank.
  • He will start to be annoying when he gets .
  • Slow him and then chase him.

(Zed -Heavily Dependent on Enemy Skill Level)

Starting items: OR

If you dodge his Q's and fight with him when there are no shadows. I mean when he uses shadow ability just try to go into another location where there are no shadows. U have higher sustain and shield spell so you should win this lane if you get an early gank. And dont be suprised his damage at lvl 6, it may be higher then yours.

Important notes:

  • When Zed's poke is on cooldown try to engage on him.
  • W to minion or ward then just E and auto a few times and try to hit a Q while he runs away.
  • Ask jungler for an early gank.
  • Get HP items so you wont fell his ult so bad.

Mid lane Lee Sin is just to stronk!!

Hmmm. I once saw a Riven that was domininating mid lane and thought - if she can go mid, why cant Lee go there too. So i decided to try him out in mid and he fits there good, you know why? Well first off all in mid lane the space between two first turrets are really short. It's almost impposible to gank Lee, and if you get wards and ward you enemy's jungle you might even kill the jungler or counter jungle him for a bit if your lane is pushed.

First lets talk how can you escape ganks.

Well you can W to your minion or ward, then you can hit Q to your or even enemy's wraths and hop over the wall and you have E for slow, so as i said it's almost impossible to gank Lee at mid.

Secondly lets talk about his benefits at mid lane:

  • Is one of the best roamers in the game.
  • Nearly impossible to gank in mid lane even if pushing to enemy turret.
  • Very powerful against almost all AP mids.
  • Lee is a safe first pick as enemy team won't guess that you're going mid.
  • Same as Riven he is good at controlling dragon and enemy's jungle.

Thirdly Lee Sin's basics at mid.

There is difference between mid and top with this guy. In top lane i play with caution because of the ganks. And if im pushed, i might have problems. And in mid lane i just dont care about it. I can push even under tower when there is no vision. I can easily jump on my minion of the next coming wave and i am half way back to my tower. It is very different when top lanning and mid lanning. If you want to have some experience in aggression lanning don't be afraid and try it.

Umm. One more thing you need to know is not to use all spells when you're not sure if enemy jungler is coming. Because for that and only for that you might get some problems with jungler. And as i said in first place try to take enemy jungler down by just putting some wards at his red or near wrath bush. This way you can get back to the game if you lost lane hard and even get a double buff when you kill the jungler. And dont be greedy, spare some money for wards and you will be carrying your team. Ahh yes, if dont feel going for enemy's jungler this match, maybe he is to strong for you or i dont know, try to help other people's lanes and dont forget to control objectives.

Good guide won't use it though

January 30, 2013 - 07:23 PM #2

to start, why is your masteries chapter before your introduction? that makes no sense.

Also, your guide does not live up to your claims of being "detailed", as it's lacking detail through out the whole guide. You need to put in work on basically everything in this guide, improving the value of the information contained within.

January 26, 2013 - 09:40 PM #3

frozen heart is a big nogo for me, not only because of the mana, in times of s3 where health is very strong you should pick a randuins over frozen heart, additionally a warmogs should be somewhat of a core item after BC BT

Next time go to the botom of the page first and read what is said there about early, mid and late game. Well, it's the way i play vs teemo, you might play in other way or idk. Totally disagree? Can you tell me what you think about teemo match-up vs lee and what did i said wrong. I would appreciate that.

January 24, 2013 - 07:17 PM #5

I totally disagree on the teemo match up and where are the early, mid and late game chapters. Not to mention the teamfight chapter.
