Introduction

Who am I?

Well im a Swiss LOL player who's currently at about 1600 elo. Elise is both my main and also my

favourite champ. I've played A LOT of games with her and I tried everything on her. From pure AP

over magic penetration tank, to AD with AS. And finally, I've found the perfect build for me (an i

think it's the best on elise). Just give it a shot and try my build. Im sure you won't regret it! And

please don't downvote this guide, only because these items look uncommon.


What is this guide :

You've just made the first step towards being able to carry a ranked game with playing elise top. You

should know that this guide isn't for people who play elise for like their first time or so. You should

be experienced with her and you should have played at least 20 games top with her. The reason i say

this is: My play style with her (especially the item build) isn't common at all. In fact i

haven't seen any other elise player building her like i do.


But why would i do an elise build nobody else does?


When i started to play elise i played her like everyone did. This means that i played her

magic penetration focused while also getting some tankyness
. I've built stuff like



on her. The results were decent. With this build (and especially) you

obviously have a very strong early game. But the problems, i had with this build, were, that

even if you got some early kills (say like 4) you couldnt really snowball well or affect any teamfight

as much as another toplaner could have, who would have gotten 4 kills (like Olaf or Garen).


Well if you see an olaf getting 4 kills during laning phase he's getting so scary throughout the whole

game and he can carry quite hard. Whereas if you get 4 kills early with elise, i always felt like

it didnt really make a huge difference how many kills you got. You weren't weak

at this point (i dont want to say this!) but it seemed to me hat you just couldn't influence a team

fight as much as another toplaner with 4 kills should have been

able to. I don't want to say you don't get kills in teamfights (you do!). But look at the overall

damage you really do and you really take and compare this to the opponent top laner who probably lost

his lane to you earlier. The results are remarkable.


Well if you've played elise top for a while im sure that you have experienced this situation:

doing very well in laning phase and getting some kills, but not being able to turn this into

a huge lead for your team.



If you think I'm talking shit then go ahead and play her magic pen and tanky focused. But i promise

you: With this build you will snowball much harder and your late game will be just insane.

With proper positioning you will be able to 1v2 people easily. To sum it up : You can carry the game

even if other lanes are feeding.




Masteries

  • I run 9 21 0 Masteries because i think in season 3 the deffensive mastery tree is just insanely good.



  • Getting 2 points in tenacious (which stacks with ) and also 3 points in legendary armor will increase your late game potential by quite a bit.



  • It's common to get 9 in offense to get the magic penetration and also some CDR wich both are great stats on elise.



Note: if you run instead of you can take one additional point in summoner'w Wrath and just 3 points in Sorcery.



Note: If you play against a AP top laner you can switch the 3 points from armor to magic resist and vise versa.

Runes

  • Marks: 9x Greater Mark of magic penetration:

Magic pen is important for your poke and also for the active from and the on hit from


  • Seals: 9x Greater Seal of Armor:

Standard for a bruiser top. However if you face an AP top, you can switch them to Scaling Armor per level.


  • Glyphs: 9x Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist:Glyphs:

Good amount of MR late game. However if you face an AP top, you can switch these to flat MR Glyphs.


  • Quints: 3x Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed:

I really like the additional MS on Elise, aso you will need it to stack to an escaping enemy with your

in spider form. The best alternative would be 3x Greater Quintessence of

Magic Penetration. It's down to your personal preferences.

Summoner Spells

I go for +


Flash is just the best summoners spell you can have!


However i personally prefer over

because you can have a bigger global influence. This means you can help your other lanes

(especially botlane) to snowball and act as a kind of with it. Late game it's

good for split pushing.


Note though that is much more difficult to use properly than

. If you feel insecure with Elise or you just want to focuse more on

your own lane than on the entire game (in solo queue i personally want to influence the whole game

more) take .

But note that in Solo queue a lot of games are decided early in the bot lane. I really like to have an

influence there and help them with as much as i can, especially when

my bot lane is losing.

Skills

Passive: Spider Swarm

Explanation:

This passive doesn't seem like much. The additional damage on you AA in spider

form isn't huge. But this passive can really shine against certain spells from champions, for example:

and . If Blitz wants to grab you,

just turn your back to him and he won't be able to hit you, because there's a spiderling between you

and the grab. This also works when it comes to Ahris charm.




Q: Neurotoxin/Venomous Bite

Explanation/Human form:

The poke of this spell is just incredible. As soon as you get your just always hit your enemy if he's in your range. It's

also good for lasthitting. As this spell does damage in form of % of your opponent's currenty life, it scales with they game

going on even if you dont focus on pure AP. We abuse this fact so wen can focus scaling our spider.

Explanation/Spider form:

Great spell to finish off people. Can also be great for lasthitting especially because it doesn't cost any mana. Another thing

to note is, that this spell is a little jump. So if you aim it at a minion it can help you to escape from ganks if you haven't your

up.

W: Volatile Spiderling/Skittering Frenzy

Explanation/Human form:

This spell does have a very high base damage. This means it does a good amount of damage despite not

building pure AP. It's very good to zone out people and you should always send it into brushes to check

for opponents. However with our build this spell is only of secondary importance.


Explanation/Spider form:

This is probably the most important spell of this guide. I pretty much build Elise around this.The Ad and the mana toggle

from (witch activates on every attack) together with some more attackspeed and magic damage on hit

from and also the magic on hit damage from makes this spell shred people in a few seconds
.

Note also that people don't expect you to do so much damage over time as they expect you to be more a burst Champ

than a damage over time champ. All I read in chats during the game is, WTF is this Elise damage and then they look at

your build and don't understand why the f... this should do so much damage.

Just try it!!




E: Cocoon/Rappel

Explanation:/Human form

Very usefull spell especially if they want to dive you early. Just wait until your opponents (probably

with jungler) are under your tower and stun one of them. If you rappel after your stun you've made your

turret shoot your opponent like 4 times and they will have to backup or not rarely you can even kill one of them.


Explanation/Spider form:

This spell is just hilarious and it's the reason why i love playing Elise. You can do so many awesome

things with it. You can use it as an escape spell on your minions. Or in teamfight you can just rappel

take some death calm breaths while your looking for the eneme ADC. All you need is experience with this

spell and after a while you see so many possibilities how to use it.




R: Spider Form/Human Form

Explanation:

Well pretty self-explanatory. The additional MS,MR and armor are nice and that your AA in Spider

Form scales with AP also increases the damage of your spider w. This scaling is rather poor though,

which is why our main damage comes from onhit Muramana and Witt's end damage and not from AP.

Item Builds

This is probably the most important part of this guide! I think it's one thing

to just build these items and try this build, but to me it seems more important, that you really

understand, how these items work on Elise. Only if you really understand how they affect your champ,

you can use this build at its fullest potential.


What is my goal with this build?

What I do with this build is in fact: I weaken elises early game just a tiny bit, but

therefore your scaling much better into late game than the "normal" Elise.
And trust me,

Elises early game is still very strong, despite the fact that i dont get and .

What this build also does is, that Elise isn't anymore the tanky burster top. She's now a damage over

time champ but has still a decent burst. In fact I'm focusing on the damage of her spider form

but I'm still able to keep the damage on

"artificially" high with the help of the proc.

This means: Out of one build, which concentrates the damage on Elise's Spider

, we still get some decent damage on her and

also her Human (due to high base damage), whereas the "normal" Build only

gives your and Human high damage but nearly

none to your Spider
.



Starting Items:




Note that this is after the change to . But i still think this

item gives you a huge advantage over someone who doesn't start with it. Together with

it will make you widdle down your opponent and outsustain him.

The will safe you from early ganks. This is especially important because there

are currently lots of level 2 ganks affecting top. And one additional

is always nice to have.

First back:

As soon as you get your you turn into your opponents worst

nightmare. Just poke the hell out of him with your and

. It will stack rather quickly. The are

so important,

and i would recommend to always buy 2 of them if you go to your base!



First Major Item:



Now it's time for our first major Item: In Season 3, this Item is good on nearly every single champion

as health is now much more cost efficient than Armor or Magic resist. You will need this health during

the entire game later on, as you will dive for the the ADC in teamfights. But the health is also great

for the laning phase because it gives you the ability to farm safely and still stack your tear to

prepare for your offensive power.

Note: If you have a hard time in lane during this time, you can also purchase either a (which you can turn into later) or a (which you can turn into a later.)



Core:



After finishing Warmogs, it's time for your core item: This is by far my favourite item in Season

3 and i think Elise is one of the best champs to use it on. On the first view this item may seem an

awkward purchase and noobs may just see that this item gives mana and AD. But the reason i

buy this item is it's active effect!
. The 3% mana proc works with both your spider and

human form and also of course with your basic attack, which is also

affected from the AS boost of your spider ! And although this item gives

you so much it isn't even very expensive.

Another thing to note is, that from now on every mana Item you will purchase late, will give u

additional AD (nice to have), but more important more damage an your proc!! Now even if you buy a item,

which would seem as a very deffensive item(for example or ) you now also get some more offensive Power!

Note: I recommend that you only toggle your Muramana active if you really fight against champions and

not minions. Otherwise you will be out of mana soon. (an exception may be Baron if you need to finish

it quickly)

Boots




After and you finally upgrade your boots. This may seem a bit late to purchase your level 2 boots. But with your

together with your MS Quints and your you are already quite mobile (don't forget your ).

However I always buy even if i lane against a AD Bruiser like . The tenacity bonus together with the masteries are just too good to give up. And as we won't be buying so much Magic Resist after this Item (only , which doesn't give too much MR) we need this MR too.

Alternatives would be but i really recommend mercuries!

Note: If you're facing a or so, it might be good to buy earlier.



More Damage




Our next purchase will be . Now this may seem just a very random item for Elise. But in fact it gives this build

everything it lacks: Some additional MR to get more tanky, additional AS wich stacks with your Spider and of

course some more magic on hit damage.
This on hit Damage alone is equal to the scaling of 140AP on your .

The attackspeed lets you proc your even more and lets you hit even harder than you did before. I always buy this Item

after my core, and i would really recommend it. Of course i also tried some other AS Items on Elise instead of .

Especially seems in theory a suitable choice. Well i tried it but i think just offers some valuable deffensive stats,

whereas offers pure offensive power. The 60 AP dont scale well with elise and you won't do as much damage with your

spider. And as you got a fully stacked at this point you don't need the mana regen either. What I like about it is the

cooldown reduction. But we will get this later with or which also give Armor we don't have yet.

So is definitely a better choice than .



Thinking about late late game




I think this is the right time to think about another . I dont

think its good to buy it earlier because you want to get as much damage and tankyness early as you

can get. Now if you are behind at this state of the game, i'd recommend building

first. But if your doing well just go for the . If you buy it don't forget to constantly spam your skills while walking around.

Note: Do not turn this into a yet!



More tankyness, more Cooldown reduction, more Damage (mana): MORE EVERYTHING!




You have to get one of these 2 items. They are very cost efficient and give you everything you could

dream about. I personally get at 75% of the games. You want to get this,

if your enemy ADC is very strong and if you have another AS focused Champ on your enemy team (like or ).

If this isn't the case and you can't stick to people with your spider , then is a very strong pick aswell.



Time to be even more OP!




It's rather unlikely that you really get to this point of the game. But if you have a god amount of CS,

together with the kills you should have by now, it may occur. You should be close to having stacked

your second at this point. So let's finally turn it into a. This last item gives you more, than any other item u could

buy as last item. Once it turns into a you get a huge ap boots (comparable to because of your huge mana pool).

But this isn't all: As you have around 4000 Mana at this point, the damage of your proc increases even more!

And as if this woudn't be very strong yet, you can drain your mana for a shield which is equal to 25% of your current mana

(up to 1000 points).


Note: It's better to activate your shield if you are low health as you do more damage with your as long as you dont

drain the mana for the shield.


Enchantement



You can buy your enchantement whenever you feel like it's time and you have the money for it. But i

wouldn't recommend it too early. I normally get it at the time when I'm building . The reason i go for is simple.

If you get it, you're mobility will be insane. But if fits better for you just go ahead.



You just got everything now

If you made it to this point, your late game can keep up with nearly every single champion

and you should be much stronger than "normal" Elise. At this point you can 1v1 everyone and you

should win!

In fact you got everything you must have if you want to fit in the role as a solo top champ.

Please don't double space your sentences, use paragraphs instead. You are overusing the small icons, just type out "Elise's W" or "Nashor's Tooth". In order to get approved, you need to have a early, mid, and late game section describing Elise's role during those periods.



Add descriptions to your skills section, copy and pasting LoLWiki's skill description is fine, preferably with number function to make it look visually different than normal white text.



Get pictures for your runes, masteries and skills sections. Pictures from explain concepts more quickly and make your guide look nicer.
