Champion Matchups

Introduction

Hi, I'm IAMZizzi05 and this is my third build guide.

First, I'd like to anticipate that this isn't a random build, it's a very reflected build, counting new Season 3 Items and Season 2-1 items too, combined.
With this build you can reach the best on fights, almost indistructible and medium-high damage. ^^

Well, let's start!
About the writer: 1 year of league of legends, using Zhao everytime on ranked, getting very nice scores: not for a high amount of kills, but because the deaths are always from 0 to 3-4 max, and the assists can go up to 15 or higher (I everytime let kills to allies).
This build is, as my opinion, the BEST build that Xin Zhao can have.

Let's discover why. ^^

Masteries

I worked on the masteries a lot, to discover what masteries could be better.

I decided to put 21 points on "Offense", and 9 on "Utility".
You would ask, Why so much points in Offense if this build is Offtank?
Simple. The runes makes you tanky, with armor and magic resist. The Offense masteries increase your Attack speed, AD, Armor penetration, General Damage, and decreases your Skill Cooldowns.
That would be perfect for Xin, because this masteries allows you to hit hard, skill frequently, penetrate armor, hit faster.

Then why the "Utility" points?
This is simple as well. The points placed in Utility increases your Movement Speed, Mana Regen, Duration of the Buffs, and decrease the Summoner's Spells Cooldowns.

So, counting the Masteries and the Runes together, you have all you need.
Let's see the utility of the runes in the next chapter. ^^

Runes

In this chapter I'll explain why you should have those Runes.

Greater Mark of Attack Speed: Because Xin Zhao + Attack Speed = BOOM!
Seriously, if your Xin Zhao gets enough Attack Speed he will be very strong. You need this more than some AD Marks, because you'll build your AD in the late game, and that will be enough. ^^
Greater Seal of Armor: Makes you tanky enough since game start, when you need to farm in jungle. In PvP those will be determinants for the incoming damage.
Greater Glyph of Magic Resist: This makes you tanky as well vs AP enemies, which could penetrate more in your armor and damage you more than AD enemies.

I always advice tanky Seals and Glyphs, because if you have a boost since start, you will be in advantage vs your enemies. ^^

Summoner Spells

Explanation:

Well, it's simply the basic jungler summoner's spell, you should always have it.

Explanation:

You need this more than ignite; With flash you can run away, get far enemies, etc.
With ignite you can only finish enemies, and it would be better if a jungler has more assists than kills, because if your lanes are feed, you are feed too. If jungler is feed and lane aren't, you will just have to gank all the game. I'll explain this further. ^^

Skills

Passive: Challenge

Explanation:

Your target can be challenged with a basic attack or with ; After you do this, enemy's armor is reduced by 15% for 3 seconds. :)

Q: Three Talon Strike

Explanation:

This skill is pretty useful since start, because it decreases by 1 all skills's cooldown for each hit, and makes your basic attacks stronger. :)

W: Battle Cry

Explanation:

This skills has a nice passive. It allows you to heal yourself by 26/32/38/44/50 every third basic attack, and it increases with AP. That's a bad thing, because Xin Zhao should never be AP (if a Xin Zhao is builded AP, he sucks). But anyways, some health restored is always a good new ^^.
For the active effect, it increases your attack speed. I always use W then Q, so Q will go faster and W will decrease its cooldown by 3. ^^

E: Audacious Charge

Explanation:

This skill allows you to dive on any enemy (champion, minion, neutral monster). It slows down the target too.

R: Crescent Sweep

Explanation:

This skill has a medium damage, but the really useful thing is that it can knock back all enemies (minions included) if there 2 or more enemy champs in the skill's area. Remember: If you're 1v1, it won't knock back. In addition, it grants armor and magic resist for 6 seconds.

Item Builds

In this chapter I'll explain why you should buy an item and not an other; why first and item and after an other, exc.

then then
Why? At the game start, you have to get something which grants some damage to neutral monsters, so hunter's machete is the best item you can get.
At first back, you get , which grants some bonus magic damage to neutral monsters and minion. This is a great advantage, because you can start to get red buff or pull blue buff without using smite.
When you'll have , you'll have AD, Armor, Life Steal and more bonus magic damage. Perfect, huh? ^^
Anyways, it's still a good item for the bonusses it grants. Decide by yourself the best item. ^^

then /
You'll obviously need some movement speed, so you'll have to buy shoes. :o
Watch the enemy team, find out the most danger one, or the feedest one, and decide if you have to defend from AD or AP. I usually get anyway, for debuffs. ^^

It's a very good item, it allows you to damage a lot nearby enemies and enemy champions, because after you use you'll be near enough to damage them with this item. ^^

This item is pretty useful after sunfire cape, because after the armor you will have the magic resist, and you'll be protected in both the type of damages. Plus, some health and cooldown reduction.
The passive increases by 20% all healing sources.

AD, Attack Speed, Mov. Speed, Cooldown Reduction, Tenacity, what would be better?!
After the defends, you need damages! And there you are, the item you need! ^^

Most AD item, health regen and life steal. In addition, this item has a passive which damages all nearby enemies with basic attacks. Combining this item to , the damage will be amazing. The active effect deals 100% of your AD to nearby enemies.

Eventual Items:

Early Game

At the game start, ask someone's help to get the red buff (pull). After getting the red buff, use some potions to kill other neutral monsters. When you have like 1k gold, recall and get , and if you have enough gold, too.

Keep farming in jungle until you get , then you can start ganking.
If you don't feel sure enough, farm until you get (for )

Start ganking when you're feeling sure. After you build you'll be at mid game. ^^

Mid Game

In this phase of the match, you will start replacing farm with ganks. Ask your team to request ganks, so you will know who needs help while you're doing something else. Build up and you'll start being unbeatable.
During your ganks, would be better if you get the assist, and let your allies get the kills.
If your lanes are feed, you're feed. If you're feed, your lanes could be not feed, and that will be a problem, 'cause you should gank a lot and your allies would need a gank at the same time.

Keep the rythm, help your allies, never dive too much, the most important thing is to keep allies alive!
When Team Fight starts, you'll be in Late Game. Read the next chapter. ^^

Late Game

At this point of the game, your build should look like this:
/ + and maybe

Now, you're almost unbeatable, and your damage is good enough. Support your team, bring them to victory, keep them alive, use your to make knock enemies out from your low health allies. Keep supporting, you don't need kills at this point, assists will be good enough. Just support, help. Do a full team push on mid, and destroy at least the inhibitor. Do baron, team fight, win. If you keep supporting your team, with your tankiness, you will be determinant for the victory.

Team Fights

In Team Fights, you're maybe the most important one. You dive first, you knock enemies back from low health allies, you finish and slowdown enemies, exc.
Just remember: If an enemy starts running away, don't follow him. Stay with your team, support it, don't leave it alone when they need help with enemy's damage. If you will stay always together during the Team Fight, it's almost impossible to lose, because Adc and Mid will damage when you'll tank them, and enemies can't damage your whole team because you're supporting it. Keep it in your memory. ^^

Jungling

Well, jungling with Xin Zhao is pretty easy.
Since start, with your red buff, you'll farm pretty easily.
Kill all the neutral monsters in your jungle part (try to don't engage enemy's jungler too soon), and recall when you have enough money to buy your items.
When you're feeling sure, start ganking. The first gank is usually in top, because your solo top could need some support.

REMEMBER! You don't need kills at all, because assists are fine enough for junglers. I know it sounds strange, but if your allies get the kills, the lanes are feed, and you will be feed as well. If you're the only one who's feed, your lanes won't be and you'll need to gank a lot, and maybe two lanes could request a gank at the same time. So, it's better if your allies in the lanes get the kills. ^^

REMEMBER (2)! During a gank, it's more important to keep your allied alive, not to kill the enemy. If your allied is in difficulty or with low life, go next to him, and support him. Slow down the enemy who's trying to shut him down, use to knock them back.

If you support your team, let it get feed, and keep it alive, the victory is sure!
Remember the jungler rules, and apply them. Good luck. ^^

Final Comments

That's all.
Questions? Found a mistake? Not sure about something? Just comment, and I'll be glad to answer and correct you or myself.
Thank you for reading this guide, and good luck with your jungle zhao. ^^

True, but it's true too that you won't build much AD in early game, so you don't need to upgrade Q more than level 1 (and it's the first skill you get, so you would already be ok).

I repeat, you can max Q or E instead, but I always prefer maxing W first :p

February 13, 2013 - 08:34 PM #2

But if u go for heavy counter jungle/gank wouldnt be maxing Q or E first better in this case if u ahve to fight often ? I mean XIns Q is one of the very stronges skills early in the game isnt it ?

February 11, 2013 - 08:01 PM #3

I answer you both :p

W helps you scoring more hits, farming better and make more pressure on enemies. Obviously, you can max Q or E instead, but I always prefer maxing W first because of this. It isn't a "must", so you can change as you like. ^^

February 9, 2013 - 07:52 AM #4

What? E should be first I think.

February 7, 2013 - 06:20 PM #5

Why you max W first instead of Q or maybe E ?
