Champion Matchups

Introduction

Zac is a very strong Jungler, he has amazing CC. Zacs clear time isn't the greatest but he has the greatest potential to gank without issues, such as mana/rage. This allows Zac to gank whenever needed, as Mundo would say "I go where I please", Zac is able to go where he pleases. Zac is a AP tank or can be played as AP carry. Zac is one of my favorite champions to jungle with due to his amazing CC and ganking power. He does high damage along with great resistance verses other champions due to the fact he is a tank. Zac has the ability to jungle with a insane amount of usage with health pots, best part about Zac he doesn't use MANA! Play a few games with him and tell me what you think of Zac in the comments below! :)

Skills

Each time Zac hits an enemy with an ability, he sheds a chunk of himself that can be reabsorbed to restore 4% of his maximum health.
Upon taking fatal damage, Zac splits into 4 chunks that attempt to recombine. If any of these chunks remain after 8 seconds, he will revive with 10-50% health depending on the health of the surviving chunks. Each chunk has 12% of Zac's maximum health, and 50% of his armor and magic resistance. This effect cannot happen again for 300 seconds.

ACTIVE: Zac lashes out with an elastic punch, dealing magic damage to all enemies hit and slowing them for 2 seconds.
MAGIC DAMAGE: 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 / 230 (+ 50% AP)
SLOW: 20% / 25% / 30% / 35% / 40%

ACTIVE: Zac's body erupts, dealing magic damage equal to a base amount plus a percentage of their maximum health to all nearby enemies (max 200 damage against minions and monsters).
MAGIC DAMAGE: 40 / 55 / 70 / 85 / 100
MAX HEALTH TO DAMAGE RATIO: 4% / 5% / 6% / 7% / 8% (+ 2% per 100 AP)

ACTIVE: Zac faces the cursor and begins channeling. After channeling or after reactivating the ability he launches himself towards the target location, dealing magic damage to all enemies hit and knocking them back for 0.5 seconds. The maximum range of Elastic Slingshot increases based on how long Zac channels.
Can be cancelled by moving; refunding 50% of the health cost.
MAGIC DAMAGE: 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 (+ 70% AP)
MAXIMUM CHANNEL TIME: 0.9 / 1.0 / 1.1 / 1.2 / 1.3
MAXIMUM RANGE: 900 / 950 / 1000 / 1050 / 1100

ACTIVE: Zac leaps into the air and begins to bounce on the ground, up to a maximum of 4 bounces. Each bounce deals magic damage to nearby enemies, knocks them up for 1 second, and slows them by 20% for 1 second. Enemies hit more than once take half damage and are not knocked up.
Zac gains an accelerating movement speed buff (20-50%) and 75% crowd control reduction while active (does not reduce Suppression). Zac can right-click to move while in the air. While active, Zac is unable to activate Stretching Strike or Elastic Slingshot.
MAGIC DAMAGE: 160 / 240 / 320 (+ 25% AP)
MAX MAGIC DAMAGE TO THE SAME TARGET: 400 / 600 / 800 (+ 62.5% AP)

Skills Tips

Use your passive for good tower dives, remember to ask your team to get tower aggro so he can revive with max health his passive gives. Also don't over extend trying to obtain your pieces, after using your abilities you might be ganked off gaurd!

Use slingshot for ganks and escapes! Make sure you don't take to long charging up with slingshot because it can be canceled with CC (Stuns).

Use your ult for chasing and escapes, remember it allows you to knock up the champion on your first hit and slows them for ganks/chases.

You can use while your ult is being used, which allows more damage output.

REMEMBER: All of Zacs abilities cost health, but if you land a hit pick up your chunks of Zacs body so you can heal up.

Zac Hidden Passive: Zac grows in size depending on how much health he obtains.

Jungling

1).Starting: Start at Wolves(Don't forget to ask for a leash!)
2).Blue: Ask for a leash, and smite blue buff.
3).Wraiths
4).Golems: You should pop your first health pot now..
5).Red: Use a health pot before you start(after golems), smite should be up.
6).Depending on crit chance or not, do wraiths(if up), if not do wolves
7).Go back and get items..

*You should have a decent clear time and be able to jungle without pots, only 3 pots should be used until you get red. Or else your doing something wrong:(

DO NOT FORGET!!!!
If any lanes are low gank at level 4, then continue jungle, use your slingshot to engage the target for ganks.

Invading: Try to place a ward on enemy Blue Buff and Red Buff so you can either counter jungle with smite, or have your mid lane champion attempt to steal Blue Buff off of the enemy champion.

BLUE SIDE: Start at: 2-1-3-5-4 RED SIDE: Start at: 4-5-1-3-2

Team Fights

Zac is one of the strongest champions to engage a team-fight, due to his high CC and ability to ignore up to 95% of CC on himself. Zac knocks up, and slows champions which allows your team to engage a strong team-fight. Zac can either play the role as AP damage or AP tank, Zac would be a great teammate with high damage champions such as Draven, and champions with great CC such as Amumu or Malphite.

Team fight skill order!

1)Engage with
2)(Land on enemy ADC or largest Threat)
3)(Try to use while standing near enemy champions)
4)(Will be up after your ult is used)
5)(Target ADC or Largest Threat)

Early Game Items

In Zacs early game I buy and for my jungle route. Hunters machete allows you to jungle quickly for a fast clear time, which gives you that early gank if your lanes need it. On my first back I normally pick up and , if you get a early kill with a gank you might have enough to buy . After you get a few ganks and some more creep farm head back to base and pick up .

Mid Game Items

Depending if your team needs a more tank champion or more damage, you can either rush into a for health or a for damage and a little resistance with health. After you make your choice on what the team needs most upgrade your boots into for damage or for a tank build. Make sure you pick up your or depending on what you picked earlier in the game.

Late Game Items

Late game with Zac I like to pick up a little damage along with some magic resistance. This also is depending on if your team is engaging team fights or picking up on enemy champions in their jungle, if your team is engaging those team-fights I normally pick up before . Now remember in late game with extra gold you can upgrade your boots with Enchantments such as one of these four .

DON'T FORGET
You can also buy Elixirs

Item Choices

- This gives Zac decent health, along with some HP and slows the target (Adds a DOT)
-Expensive item, but gives you the most HP in the game along with health regain for a good tank
-light magic resistance, adds 200 health, lowers CD, helps Zacs health regain when he recovers parts of himself by 20%
-Give decent ability power, lowers CD, and deals more damage to creeps
-Gives speed along with Ability Power penetration
-Adds health and health regain
-Adds health along with Armor
-Gives massive amount of Ability Power for great damage
-Gives magic resistance along with speed
-Health, adds armor, and CD reduction
-Gives good Ability Power along with Magic Resistance
-Gives Armor along with Ability Powers, works well with Zacs passive
-Allow more Ability penetration and adds Ability Power
-Gives Speed along with Armor and blocks 10% of incoming basic attacks
-Gives Magic Resistance and Armor works well with Zacs passive (Kill him twice)

Lore

Zac is the product of a Zaun experiment to manufacture a hexchem-engineered supersoldier – the Zaun Amorphous Combatant. Combining brute strength with limitless flexibility, he is a versatile juggernaut: a creative fighter who bounces over obstacles and pounds his foes into submission. Though he was created inside a weapons laboratory, Zac was rescued and adopted by two loving parents who raised him to be a kind and friendly child. As the years passed, he grew up to be a fierce hero, sworn to protect the ordinary, everyday people of Zaun.

Long ago, two Zaun scientists developed an organic substance that could withstand extreme conditions, spontaneously alter its biological structure, and generate tremendous amounts of kinetic force. As the scientists, husband and wife, watched the prototype grow from a spoon-sized droplet to a small blob, they noticed that their creation would respond to their presence. It sprung forward when they called and bounced when they sang. The couple began to see more than an experiment; they saw a small child, filled with affection and joy.

After testing the prototype one evening, the scientists placed the blob back in its cage. It slouched and shuddered in the corner, inconsolably sad. At that moment, the couple realized that their beloved creation wished for a free life outside the lab. They were struck by their conscience and could not allow the prototype to be used as a weapon. The husband and wife fled with the young blob, replacing its weapon designation – Zaun Amorphous Combatant – with a proper name: Zac. In a quiet neighborhood far from the cities of Zaun, the scientists raised Zac as their own child.

Zac was always different from the other children. None had his powers of strength and flexibility, so the couple taught him to tell right from wrong and to use his gifts responsibly. Thanks to the care and affection of his loving parents, Zac lived a peaceful, happy childhood.

That childhood ended when the Zaun laboratory finally found Zac. Unable to replicate the formula used to create the amorphous prototype, the laboratory’s staff never stopped searching for the scientists and their experiment. When they tracked down the family, they threatened to tear it apart. The staff abducted Zac’s parents and demanded that the couple assist in his capture and return. Seized by the fear of losing his freedom and his parents, Zac unleashed every ounce of his raw energy and mass for the very first time. He subdued his parents’ captors, sent the laboratory’s workers fleeing, and brought his loved ones home. From then on, Zac vowed to defend all ordinary lives threatened by extraordinary treachery and wickedness. Originally built to destroy, he now protects the innocent and the helpless.

“Even if you don’t have a spine, you still have to stand up for yourself.” -- Zac

@Zanean Why not both?

April 3, 2013 - 01:21 AM #2

In my opinion I think at the start of the game you should do stretching strike first because it does more damage than Unstable matter if you are jungle. So you wont lose as much health when you jungle in the start.

April 2, 2013 - 12:56 PM #3

@Philitt 20% is always good

April 2, 2013 - 08:27 AM #4

Overall pretty nice guide, good work. But i cant reall see the point why you start with blue as a manaless jungler. Starting red would also give you the possibility to do an early invade like shaco. And giving the first blue to the mid gives him/her a nice advantage. How you think about it?

April 1, 2013 - 02:38 PM #5

In my opinion you can't go wrong when ganking for a karthus cus they would be afraid to touch you when the karthus has the AOE up to protect ur passive...also Vi Ult stops Zac ult and Syndra can throw the cells from Zac's passive

April 1, 2013 - 12:32 PM #6

You may be right, you lose 200 health but gain the damage depending on how much health they have. It also give you spell penetration to, I'd prefer Rylais over Liandrys early game, and switch Rylais into Liandrys late game. In my personal opinion that's how I'd build him. Ill update my guide, you learn something new everyday! Thanks;)

April 1, 2013 - 03:34 AM #7

I would consider Liandrys over Rylais.

March 31, 2013 - 07:25 PM #8

Yeah, those are points well spent. Tenacious is also really strong once you're into mid and late game.

March 31, 2013 - 07:08 PM #9

Yes, actually instead of putting it in legendary armor you can actually put it in Good Hands for respawn time, and also in Summoner's Resolve for the 10 gold per smite use. Depending on how long that game will take you can either be waste of a point or turn around and be a 200 gold bonus..

March 31, 2013 - 03:51 PM #10

Best jungle guide I've seen for Zac. I actually wrote my own (Indomitable Majin Flubber) for solo top and I inserted a jungle section just so I could link yours.

My only criticism is about the 3 points into Legendary Armor. Since it only applies to BONUS armor and MR, don't you feel like there's better use for those 3 mastery points? For instance, with a single point in Defender, you'll end up with more armor and MR during team fights than you get for the 3 points in Legendary Armor.
