Explanation :

With Aatrox i run a 21/9/0 due to in fact how his lifesteal potential with the runes and items increases his durability. In layman's terms.. Hit harder heal more. So thats why i run such an offensive mastery page. With the 9 in defense i made sure to get the smite +10 gold as well as more health/regen so he can just overall live longer.

Runes

Explanation :

The runes i run on Aatrox are Life steal quints, attack speed marks, armor seals, and CDR glyphs. My thoughts on this is overall I'm trying to capitalize on the life steal potential early to make jungling/ganking in low levels simple while still scaling well into the late game. the attack speed is necessary to quickly clear jungle creeps and ultimately life stealing more (adding to his durability). Armor speaks for itself. Lastly the CDR glyphs, its been an experiment for me to give this a shot to make his abilities have a lower CD especially in the lower levels to make him more of a threat early in the game as well as utilize his passive. My other options for the glyphs would be flat MR.

Summoner Spells



Explanation:

Smite : Self explanatory, no jungler leaves home without it. For those who need an explanation you get the 10 extra gold per smite and its also there to lock down baron/dragon/buffs/steal. Use wisely

Flash : With flash its a tool to use sparingly that can make for great ganks or great throws. Gotta be alert to what summoners the laners are using and which have been burnt already.

Skills

Passive: Blood Well
When using an ability that costs Health, Aatrox stores the self-inflicted damage into the Blood Well. Upon taking fatal damage Aatrox extracts the blood from the well and recovers it as health over a brief duration. Additionally, Aatrox gains 1% Attack Speed for every 2% blood that is in the well.

Explanation:

So lets break this one down. Every time Aatrox uses an ability that cost health, that health is thrown into the blood well of which has 2 main benefits. 1 being that is Aatrox takes fatal damage Aatrox uses the blood in the well to recover over a brief duration. 2 being he gains 1% attack speed per every 2% of blood in the well. Keeping the well full will be vital to utilizing his potential in fights and survival.



Q: Dark Flight
Aatrox takes flight and slams down at a targeted location, dealing 70/115/160/205/250 physical damage to all nearby enemies and knocking up targets at the center of impact for 1 second.
Range : 650
Cooldown : 16/15/14/13/12 Seconds


Explanation:

This is pretty much just a gap closing and escaping tool, and not much else. This is why i wouldn't suggest any more then 1 point into it. When using it of course its a great ganking tool especially with its knockup and its a relatively low CD so you can jump back out of a fight as well.



W: Blood Thirst
While toggled off Aatrox benefits from Blood Thirst, while toggled on Blood Price is activated and removes Blood Thirst.

Blood Thirst: Every third attack, Aatrox restores 20/25/30/35/40 Health, increased by 200% () when below half Health.

Blood Price: Every third attack, Aatrox deals 60/95/130/165/200 (+0.25*AD) bonus physical damage and loses Health.
Cooldown : 0.5/0.5/0.5/0.5/0.5 Seconds


Explanation:

So with Blood thirst this is going to be a great skill to max 2nd to keep you sustained in the jungle using blood thirst and then to deal heavy damage every third hit with blood price. The reason i choose to max this 2nd is solely because it requires 3 hits for each proc and 3 hits isn't always a guarantee on most champs.



E: Blades of Torment
Aatrox unleashes the power of his blade, dealing 75/120/165/210/255 (+0.6*AP) (+0.6*AD) Magic Damage to all enemies hit and slowing them by 40% for 1.8/2/2.3/2.5/2.8 seconds.
Range : 1000
Cooldown : 12/11/10/9/8 Seconds


Explanation:

Such a powerful ability of which you want to max first. Simply put maxing this mean more damage, longer slow, and a shorter cool down of which you can bring all sorts of pain with. This ability can bring enemies into range that may have ran/flashed/ect with its slow. Just take some time to practice it cause it can be difficult to hit at range due to the fact the width of it shrinks the farther out it goes.



R: Massacre
Aatrox draws in the blood of his foes, dealing 200/300/400 (+1*AP) magic damage to all enemy champions around him, increasing his Attack Speed by 40/50/60%, and gaining 175 Attack Range for 12 seconds.
Cooldown : 100/85/70 Seconds


Explanation:

This is a very versatile ability of which can be used as a strong engage just have to ensure that you hit as many targets as possible. the attack speed boost coupled with blood thirst or blood price can destroy a team plus the extra attack range makes it easy to keep procing that 3rd hit effect.
