Champion Matchups

Introduction

Jinx is one of the few AD carries without any sort of escapes, but has a huge arsenal of tools with which to keep her distance with.

Champion Overview

Strengths:
+High range
+High damage
+Lots of CC
+Global sniping ability
+Very strong for mid game
+Very strong chasing in fights

Weaknesses:
-CCs are dodgable and can be easy to gank
-No escapes
-Vulnerable in lane very early
- is a key part of her kit and is hard to land

Commentary (Fixed)

As with all my guides, I feel that text can only show so much. Watching someone play and listening to commentary regarding thought process and movement will result in much more. With that said, I strongly urge you to check out the commentary!

Masteries

21/9/0:

This page allows Jinx to win most trades and be strong in fights.

21/5/4:

This page is an option if you don't run mana regen runes and you need more mana.

Runes

Marks:

Attack Damage

AD runes help with last hitting and are stronger for early engagements.

Armor Penetration

Armor Pen scales better into mid and late game, but it is harder to last hit, especially when under tower.

Seals:

Armor (Flat)
Armor is the best option for an AD carry that plays 2v2, as the extra tankiness is a requirement.

Glyphs:

Magic Resistance (Flat/Scaling)
MR flat is preferable against lanes with magic damage, while scaling is better if the lane does not as it'll be stronger mid and late game.

Mana Regen (Flat)
Mana Regen is very useful since Jinx does want to spam her abilities

Quintessences:

Attack Damage
AD is for a stronger early game and is the better choice of quints.

Armor Penetration
Armor Pen on quints aren't as efficient, but are an option for a full armor penetration page.

Lifesteal
Lifesteal combined with Doran's Blade allows you to sustain and not be too vulnerable to harass

Summoner Spells

Explanation:
Barrier is a strong summoner spell when the opposing team does not have any skills that Cleanse works on and you wish to scale better into mid and late game.

Explanation:
Cleanse is an excellent choice if the enemy team has high range AoE CCs that can be Cleansed.

Explanation:
Ignite is still an option, but Jinx lacks the mobility in teamfights, making it fairly important to have a defensive summoner.

Skills

Passive: Get Excited!

Explanation:
A huge movespeed buff after killing (or assisting in the last 3 seconds) a turret or enemy champion.

Q: Switcheroo!

Explanation:
First form is a 525 range attack that increases attack speed with each hit (up to 3)

Second form is a 600-700 range attack that increases damage slightly and hits in AoE

W: Zap!

Explanation:
Line skillshot with a huge slow but is generally pretty hard to land due to the small AoE, cast delay and very obvious tell (easy for enemy players to tell where it is being aimed to)

E: Flame Chompers!

Explanation:
Shoots out three ranged traps, doesn't last very long, and is meant for utility and CC, not for vision.

R: Super Mega Death Rocket!

Explanation:
Global line nuke that does more damage the further they are away. Very similar to Ashe ult, but generally used to finish off targets.

Skill Order

> > >

Maxing first:
The extra range for harassing and increased attack speed while using the minigun makes it better for laning and teamfighting.

Maxing over :
Zap has a very powerful slow and does a lot of damage, making it much better to max for DPS and utility. Flame Chompers is still very useful with just a single point and I prefer to just max it last.

Item Builds

Start:

Doran's Blade is the starting item in nearly every single scenario and is especially good with Lifesteal quints for the extra sustain in lane.

Early: ///

Depending on how much gold you get on your first buy, you may want to rush a B.F. Sword. However, in most cases, you may have to back before you can have that much gold and will instead aim for a Vamp Scepter or Berserker's Greaves.

If you decide to go for more an Infinity Edge, feel free to pick up a Pickaxe instead, but burst damage is more ideal for Jinx.

Recommended:

OR

A Bloodthirster, Last Whisper and Zeal build highlights Jinx's strength of high burst damage and is my recommended build.

A traditional AD build of Infinity Edge, Zeal and Last Whisper is also possible, but doesn't make full usage of Jinx's ratios and mid game strength.

Offensive: ///

Infinity Edge is a needed item in any ADC's build late game. I prefer to build it a bit later for some extra laning and mid game power in Bloodthirster, but it's still needed.

Statikk Shiv has slightly more movement speed and burst damage, but less crit and attack speed. This makes Shiv a better pick-up for a Bloodthirster build to combine with the mid game power.

Phantom Dancer works better with an IE due to the extra stats, but is also slightly more expensive. Late game, this doesn't matter too much and both are fine options.

Zephyr is generally bought as a last item to replace boots, especially because Jinx doesn't need the extra chasing power that boots normally would give.

Defensive:
/

Mercurial Scimitar and its Cleanse properties is very good against champions with suppression

Guardian Angel and its flexible defensive stats combined with the Revive passive is always a good option.

AD Laning Match-Ups

Jinx has superior range over most of the ADs even starting at level 1.

- Easiest AD match-ups are the short range ADs that need to scale.

- ADs with burst and strong spells only have advantage on Jinx in the early levels, or if you miss too many crucial abilities.

- Long range ADs with harass are generally the hardest match-ups, but Jinx outscales them nicely due to her very versatile skillkit that includes high range.

Laning Synergies

Jinx is very versatile with a very high amount of CC and not too weak of an early game. This makes her good when paired with nearly any support.

Her best match-ups are with the extremely strong pokes and extremely high kill pressure supports as they allow the lane to become more than just farming.

- These are the strongest harassing supports and will help Jinx get ahead of her lane opponent due to their strong harass/sustain.

- Thresh and Zyra provide kill pressure and are strong options with Jinx.

Many of the other supports can work with Jinx, but the mentioned ones are those that I feel have the best synergies from kit alone. With the right amount of teamwork and skill, there are many others that work just as well!

Teamfights

Don't be hesitant to simply stay in range and rain damage from the side. You should only switch to minigun when the enemy threats are being locked down and there is very little danger. The extra damage is not worth potentially being stunned or killed! (This is of course very dependent on the enemy team, but generally you'll want to err on the side of caution, due to the lack of an escape)

Final Comments

High burst damage, very high range with the option to go in close for extra damage, Jinx is a very strong AD carry. She will reward those who can position correctly and will be easily killed if you're not careful. If you're a fan of ADCs, I'd definitely give Jinx a try!

Oh you want a champion guide but don't like this one, okay here's another one you'll probably like, I figure it has plenty of information for you just from glancing it over: http://www.solomid.net/guides.php?g=63037-taliban-hitman-jinx-build-guide

By the way I've taken the liberty of renaming you, should I ever decide to respond to you again (very unlikely) I'll refer to you as KeyboardSmasher :) It shouldn't be too hard for you to realize why after your last comment.

"When I look up at the site I see solomid.net, xspecial is a part of tsm, as far as I'm concerned he can use/abuse whatever he wants when he wants on this site and fuck the consequences. Look at where he is at in his life, you don't know the things he has to deal with along with the rest of his team members. The things they have to worry about or spend most of their time prioritizing/focusing on, the doubts they try to overcome. Every single one of them on tsm had dedicated a lot of time to League, Know Your Place...."

what the fuck? I want a champion guide, not a pity party. I'll say it again, stop nut hugging. If ANYONE else would have written this guide, it would have received thrice the amount of downvotes. The only reason it's considered valuable is because it was written by someone with a name. Nothing you listed is an excuse for such a guide with no actual work put into it.

@downwardspiral, I am in no way sorry for stepping on his balls lol he's doing the same thing on some other guys balls. I don't know if he's your friend or what but I don't care. That isn't the sole purpose of a guide, that's the primary objective. The guide not teaching you or the typical/average adc player anything about Jinx or the role doesn't mean that it isn't useful to players who lack experience with the role. I agree, this guide probably should've been down-voted to oblivion and especially after comparing it to Korv's Jinx guide and as I stated before I am not a fan of xspecial but the other two guys along with yourself acted like you needed a swift kick in the ass.

@everyone talking shit about this guide, he gives you rune page options, he gives mastery options, he gives what he considers to be a good item build path. This is what i consider a guide for a newly released champ. What do you want him to do hold your dick and teach you to play in every situation?

@downwardspiral concerning the mp5 glyphs you might want to go to pro builds and see that most of the top adcs are running mp5 in order to get a few extra skills off in the lane phase.

October 25, 2013 - 06:10 AM #6

@TheHolloWithin, how about you get off of his balls? After seeing this guide from him I went and looked at all of his other ones. The majority of his support guides are exactly the same. It's all lazy cut/paste nonsense to cash in on the monetizing coming from his youtube videos. It's blatant abuse of the featured icon to shape traffic. This guide doesn't teach ANYTHING. The entire purpose of a guide is to be in-depth with the specific champion. In most cases they should be uploaded by a user that has mastered the champion. This guide was uploaded pretty much day 1, it shouldn't even exists. It adds nothing to the website and tells us nothing we don't already know. The only thing he has added since uploading is that silly 1MP5 alternate runepage that no ADC in their right mind would bother taking

Format for an xspecial solomid guide:

1. Core item build that could be picked up by ANY champion from that role (ADC/SUPPORT/JUNG/etc)

2. No explanation for the skill route, or alternatives. This is the biggest problem with this guide, there are plenty of situations where Jinx would not level Q first.

3. a monetized youtube video featuring a normal game with commentary.

4. a section where the description of skills were cut/pasted

5. final comments section that's generalized worse than a horoscope. These can normally be universally applied to whatever role the champion from the guide fits.

Final comments. I like xpecial, he doesn't bother anyone. He does his support thing and acts like a true professional. This guide however I do not like, it's blatant abuse of traffic for monetizing. It's cookie-cutter knowledge at best, anyone could have written this. It's lazy, undeveloped, if anyone else would have written it, it would have been downvoted into oblivion.

@kayakninja

Point noted, they still made themselves look like an ass riding a high horse though. They could've went about it differently and not made it look like they were here to put him down for such a short/brief guide.

October 23, 2013 - 03:42 AM #8

@sayam varus has a 575 range

October 22, 2013 - 09:51 PM #9

@thehollowithin I think most of the people saying the guide is too short are the ones you're talking about who can't understand the strengths and weaknesses of a champ right off. That's why they're wanting the guide to be longer: because they need more information.

October 22, 2013 - 01:03 PM #10

Vayne got the same range as Draven, Twitch or Varus..
