IntroductionI suck at jax
Jax is the hero that I've played in closed beta. I've never touched any other hero but him, and I was known as I Play Jax because if I didn't get Jax I would dodge. (get the joke)
Jax was pretty OP in closed beta, and pretty OP at other points in the game, but in the end he turned out to what is he today, and I'll show you how to play him. Without trolling, since the last two Jax guides were actually there to hide my secrets of Jax.
It will be a straightforward guide on how to play Jax. Use it as a guideline and learn your matchups through experience.
Masteries9/12/9 is effective because of the biscuit and new meta with just spamming pots. You can go ham at lvl 2 and still win your lane because you have wards and pots for your mistakes.
You will never pick 21-0-9 or 9-0-21
You will always pick
9-21-0 because it's the best right now, why? I don't know ask riot.
To switch up your 9-21 all you need to do is change the armor part of the mastery to MR. If against both then you can put it on both. The 70% movement mastery is good if you have movement speed runes or if you have over 70% hp.
The cooldown per level mastery increases your damage out put and or survivability much more then the 1.5% reduced damage.
The reduce minion damage mastery is important for trades as no matter what you do all game, you will be doomed to be attacked by minions one way or another.
flat MR or flat armor purples.
flat FLAT HP REGEN VS HARD MATCHUPS LIKE URGOT
FLASH IS THE BEST SPELL IN THE GAME
Ignite is also on of the best spells in the game not to mention the 5 ad and ap go a long way early game as they benefit jax in making him do more damage, and allowing him to be that 1% tankier from his ult. (something like that)
cleanse sucks for top lane, but if they have 5 cc's this is a good replacement for merc threads, and cancels out ignite damage.
If you have 0 pressure on top then you don't need flash, use ghost for chasing down carries in team fights.
Still Viable, useful for laning and split pushing.
Really useful to finish off people and rape sustainers, but they'll most likely have cleanse. For those who don't, will usually die depending on the situation.
good vs burst casters or ad carries, reduces damage done to you and slows.
good if you're getting the most pressure on your lane, and if there are now heals on your team. you can bait with this but the cooldown is higher then ignite.
ALWAYS VIABLE (jk don't do this unless you're trolling with revive teleport)
Passive: Equipment Mastery
Jax's prowess with weapons and armor increase his fortitude as he gains equipment. Jax gains 3 health per point of Attack Damage and 2 health per point of Ability Power received from items.
Description is outdated but you guys should know what this is
Q: Leap Strike
Jax leaps towards a target. If it's an enemy, he attacks it and deals an additional 20/45/70/95/120 (+100% of attack damage) (+70% of ability power) magic damage.
Cooldown 13 / 11 / 9 / 7 / 5 seconds
Cost 65 mana
Jump to wards, jump to people, jump to kill.
Jax charges his weapon with energy, causing his next attack to deal 60/95/130/165/200 (+40% ap and 40% bonus ad) bonus magic damage.
Cooldown 5 seconds
Cost 60 mana
One of the best trading skills in the game, attack animation cancel and costs like 0 mana.
E: Counter Strike
Jax dodges all incoming basic attacks for 2 seconds and reduces AoE damage by 25% while he is dodging. At the end of the duration, Jax deals 40 / 70 / 100 / 120 / 160 (+80% of bonus attack damage) physical damage to nearby enemies and stuns them for 1 second. This spell deals 20% (up to a maximum of 100%) increased damage for each attack dodged. Jax has the option to activate the ability again after 1 second to end the effect early.
Cooldown 22 / 20 / 18 / 16 / 14 seconds
Cost 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 mana
This skill is really good vs auto attackers and makes you invul for that time basically.
R: Relentless Assault
(passive) Jax's basic attacks increase his attack speed by 6 / 10 / 14% for a short duration, and hitting the same unit 2 consecutive times enhances Jax's next attack for 140 / 170 / 210 (+70% of ability power) bonus magic damage. Attack speed stacks up to 10 times.
(active) Jax gains 25/35/45 (+30% of his bonus attack damage) armor and 25/35/45 (+20% of his ability power) magic resist for 8 seconds
Cooldown 80 seconds
Cost 100 mana
also one of the greatest trading skills and for long drawn out fights. combine with empower to proc this and you have one hurting opponent.

FUCK THIS CHAMPION
WTF WHY IS MY MOVEMENT SPEED BELOW 0
WTF I CAN'T LAST HIT EARLY
POOL + RYLAIS + WTF DAMAGE
WTF I CAN'T HIT THIS GUY HE HITS SO HARD WITH AD
WTF KAYLE EARLY GAME IS RETARDED
Early GameEarly on you need to determine what item you need to build vs their team comp. When you head into lane make sure you help your jungler out, if you don't have to then just wait at your tower for your creeps to start doing battle.
Begin the laning phase by last hitting normally and trading with W if necessary. If they're a ranged and you can't seem to solve the problem of their harassing then take the hits and allow your creeps to aggro your opponents. By doing this the lane will slowly push and you'll be able to last hit at your tower.
Play agressive/defensively when necessarary, try to ignore them and farm until you hit 6.
Once you hit 6, harass them with your ult. Every time your E is up do the Q -> E -> Hit -> W combo.
Mid GameWhen you enter the mid game you're around level 9ish and you're about to get your gunblade.
Once you have your gunblade you should be able to play a little more aggressive and make some power plays.
Roaming a little or waiting to teleport on to a ward or minion is ideal here, otherwise just keep afk farming your lane until a fight or dragon happens. You'll be pretty strong as long as the enemy team doesn't have a billion CC's.
Late GameAt this point you have most of your items whether you're winning or losing. At the beginning of late game you have baron potential so keep it in mind as you fight to control objectives with your team.
Make sure you're not the first one into the fight unless you're picking someone off. Jax is really tough, but you need to treat him more as an assassin, seeing if he comes into the fight at a certain point he can finish off people easily and move on into a favorable situation instead of Jax dying and then your huge bruiser dps is gone.
Make sure you drink elixers when you have to, and prioritize fights over farm. Target their squishies or their AP carries depending on what build you have
When Should you pick Jax?When top lane isn't a high pressure lane or middle.
Jax can go bot with soraka/sona/janna/taric
When they have a lot of AD's.
When they don't have that much CC.
When they don't have that much AP.
When you need DPS
When you have a morgana/zilean/kayle anyone to support you in your quest of killing everyone.
WHEN YOU NEED TO FEEL LIKE A MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN AWW YEAH
Imagine if he had a real weapon.
When they have an AD top and you go top and just rape them at lvl 6.
