Introduction
Hey Solomid! This is my first time writing a guide so I thought I would write it about the first champion I fell in love with. Mundo is far more versatile than people might expect. I am not taking credit in any way for coming up with Jungle Mundo--I know it has been done. However, I am the only person I have ever seen do it in a real match. This isn't a troll build; it's 100% tested, verified, and freaking awesome!
Explanation for Jungle Mundo
Out of the however many games I have played as Mundo, I came to realize it is undeniable that he simply cannot compete with many other tanks/supports you might run across in bot lane. In addition, he gets out damaged, CC'd, and farmed up top by a number of champs too. However, he can still dominate in team fights and help carry your team to victory. The key to a successful Mundo is keeping your team alive, and earning gold! Jungling Mundo is the perfect way to accomplish this.

Mundo's [skills/drmundo/q.png] provides much stronger ganks than many would expect. Having such a strong lvl 2 slow from his cleaver and the shit-ton of damage from his [skills/drmundo/e.png] is far more deadly than the other team might expect. Successful early ganks can easily snowball, and lead to a FED MUNDO.
Masteries
I go with a 9/21/0 mastery page for a fairly standard tank/tanky DPS setup. The extra movespeed, summoner spell buffs, damage reduction from minions and other tanky stats from the defensive tree pair nicely with the extra damage and ArP from the offensive tree to create a Mundo that flies through the Jungle but doesn't lose any advantage late game.

I don't take any stats in the utility tree for a few reasons:
--[skills/drmundo/p.png] provides a decent amount of health regen.
--Mundo does not use mana.
--It takes too many "wasted points" IMO in order to reach the stats that could help like exp gain and buff lengthening.
I take a fairly standard Jungle rune setup with the exception of a couple health quints. Health is a good stat to have in the jungle, especially early game. Armor and armor P are both necessary for breezing through jungle creeps.
Summoner Spells
[summoners/smite.png][summoners/cleanse.png]

Explanation:

[summoners/smite.png]: Do I have to explain?
[summoners/cleanse.png]: WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE AND NET YOU KILLS.
Theres nothing worse than being CC'd while your [skills/drmundo/r.png] is up; regening health while wasting the movespeed buff that would either be helping you escape or chase. Cleanse is now OP on Mundo now that it debuffs [summoners/ignite.png]. I cant stress enough how awesome cleanse is! You are fast enough that you don't need [summoners/flash.png] to catch people.

I would not use any other spells on Jungle Mundo.

The only other spell I would entertain the thought of on this build is [summoners/exhaust.png], simply to guarantee that lvl 2 gank kill.
Skills
[skills/drmundo/p.png] Passive: Adrenaline Rush

Dr. Mundo regenerates 0.3% of his max health each second.

Explanation:

A great passive for jungling. Sustain is absolutely necessary for a jungler, and your passive paired with a vamp scepter should keep your health from getting too low. It pairs nicely when you grab a [items/spirit-visage.png], too.

[skills/drmundo/q.png] Q: Infected Cleaver

Dr. Mundo hurls his cleaver, dealing damage equal to 15 / 18 / 21 / 23 / 25% of the target's current health (80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 damage minimum) and slowing them by 40% for 2 seconds.

Cooldown 4 seconds

Cost 30 / 50 / 70 / 90 / 110 health

Range 10000

Explanation:

Cleavers are awesome! Having a slow at level 2 is awesome. However, DO NOT USE IT EARLY ON FOR JUNGLING. It wastes more health to throw cleavers than to just keep auto attacking.

[skills/drmundo/w.png] W: Burning Agony

Toggle: Dr. Mundo deals 40 / 55 / 70 / 85 / 100 (+20% of ability power) magic damage to nearby enemies, and reduces the duration of crowd control effects on Dr Mundo by 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35%.

Cooldown 4 seconds

Cost 20 / 28 / 35 / 43 / 50 health per second

Range 325

Explanation:

This skill will save your life. The extra CC lets you run around forever late game and be a pain in the ass. However, it costs far too much health early in the game to spam it. This is why I don't take a point in it until level 8.

[skills/drmundo/e.png] E: Masochism

Increases physical damage by 40 / 55 / 70 / 85 / 100 for 5 seconds. Dr. Mundo gains an additional +0.4 / 0.55 / 0.7 / 0.85 / 1 damage for each percentage of health he is missing.

Cooldown 7 seconds

Cost 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 / 75 health

Range 300

Explanation:

Unbelievably underrated skill. An extra 40+ damage at level 1 helps you fly through the jungle and destroy people if you get a lucky crit. Plus it helps regen health with your [items/vampiric-scepter.png].

[skills/drmundo/r.png] R: Sadism

Dr. Mundo regenerates 50% of his Max Health over 12 seconds. Additionally, he gains 15 / 25 / 35% movement speed.

Cooldown 75 seconds

Cost 20 percent of health

Explanation:

Mundo's ult is phenomenal. The movespeed buff plus the massive amount of health regen will allow you to tank for your team 50% longer, catch low-health champs, win 1v1's and get away.

Skill Order
I take [skills/drmundo/e.png] first for obvious reasons. You couldn't jungle lvl 1 without it.
I take [skills/drmundo/q.png] second for a level 2 gank.
I switch off between the skills until lvl 6 to establish a strong start in the jungle, and because you can't afford to use [skills/drmundo/w.png] with so little health.

After level 11 it is situational which skills to rush.
Rush [skills/drmundo/q.png] if enemy team is squishy to help poke/engage.
Rush [skills/drmundo/w.png] if enemy team has an unbelievable amount of CC.
Rush [skills/drmundo/e.png] if our team's damage output is lacking, so that you can help more in fights.
THE BUILD
SARTING ITEM:[items/vampiric-scepter.png] This is the only item that will allow you to sustain health throughout the jungle without spamming pots all day. Plus it leads to a [items/wriggles-lantern.png]--a huge help with dragon/baron/buff control.

FIRST BACK: After you have ganked at level 2, finish your route (skipping red and blue) and blue pill. You will be at level 3. If your ganks netted you a kill, buy [items/cloth-armor.png][items/boots-of-speed.png] and [items/health-potion.png]. Otherwise, just grab [items/cloth-armor.png] and a couple [items/health-potion.png].

After you buy, start at blue (you can give it away if you want), and then procede straight bottom, stopping at red as well and ganking when you can.
Return to the base when you can buy[items/wriggles-lantern.png]. You need to get dragon warded asap.

The order of your next items are as follows:
[items/mercurys-treads.png][items/spirit-visage.png][items/warmogs-armor.png]. Every Mundo should have these.

SITUATIONAL RECOMMENDED ITEMS:
[items/frozen-heart.png]--This item is amazing. It assists further with catching/running away, and it provides a massive amount of armor. WHO CARES ABOUT THE WASTED MANA. It's an amazing item for the type of playstyle you will do.
[items/rylais-crystal-scepter.png]--I like this for a two reasons. (1) It has extra health. (2) It increases your slows by a phenomenal amount! Your [skills/drmundo/q.png] now slows at level 5 for 75%!! Plus your [skills/drmundo/w.png] is now an AOE 15% slow! I would still take [items/frozen-heart.png] over it though. But if you're wrecking it can be a really fin item to use. No one will get away!
[items/atmas-impaler.png]--I only grab this when my team needs a little extra help with damage, or if the enemy team is extremely AD heavy.
[items/quicksilver-sash.png]--Another cleanse + MR?? SWEET!
[items/force-of-nature.png]--This item rocks. Massive health regen + movespeed? I'm thinking of moving it to core.
[items/randuins-omen.png]--An amazing item, plus you can grab an early [items/heart-of-gold.png] if youre having a lot of trouble. The team debuff it provides is great and the armor is nice too =)

ITEMS I DON'T LIKE:
[items/banshees-veil.png]--Not enough MR for the cost. Too much gold wasted on a [items/catalyst-the-protector.png].
[items/guardian-angel.png]--You are trying to bait people into focusing you, right?
[items/thornmail.png]--You already have enough armor.
[items/starks-fervor.png]--Your team better be super AD heavy to give up the map control [items/wriggles-lantern.png] provides as a first item.
Conclusion
I spent a lot of time creating and testing this and I know it works. Please give it a try before downvoting me please!

  • Also, i actually watched saintivicious jungle mundo a couple times right after i posted this, he did fairly well. he might post one of them, so keep your eyes open for a possible gameplay up from him.
  • I like randuin's too, but the slow only works for a short period of time which is why i prefer frozen heart. As far as rylai's, thats just for games when your team is dominating--it's a really fun item on mundo. frozen mallet is good too, but for the most part i don't like adding AD to mundo, its a waste late game. you dont have enough evasive/getaway moves to be spending money on much besides tank items. he's fast... but that isnt much w/o tankiness.
i only grab QSS when the other team is amumu, ashe, lee sin, alistar, rammus type shit.

    tips?
early game--gank often. youre at your strongest damage-wise early game.
mid-game--start pushing towers, keep your level up, help teammates whenever possible.
late-game--spend much less time in the jungle, your team needs you to be there for fights.

Thanks for the constructive criticism, and im glad youre going to give it a try. JUNGLE MUNDO OP.

i like the idea of it, and i intend to playtest it all day tomorrow. i don't like some of the item choices. randuins omen > frozen heart a million times for mundo cuz no mana, extra hp, extra regen, and that insane active, plus it builds from hog. mallet > rylais because mundo benefits more from AD, and once you catch up to them, your autos will be fine for keeping in range. i don't like QSS because the only reason you'd take cleanse is ignite, and there should be one, maybe two max anyway. bait them, cleanse them, call it good. i don't know how i feel about the warmogs, but i imagine i'll figure that out tomorrow.

do you have any tips for early, mid, late-game? how to team-fight? etc. a build is one thing, but i'd be interested to know how you play it from 1-18.

thanks if you decide to gratify any requests i've made, and thanks for a good concept.
