Hi, if you're here you must be looking for a vlad guide. This is going to be as simple as it gets. Vlad is a pretty ridiculous hero that can go up against EVERYBODY. (not anymore)

But he does have problems verses some heroes.

For masteries you can go 9/21/0 or 21/9/0 but I prefer defensive since you're in the top lane. If you're mid lane I suggest 21/9/0, the reasoning for going between these two is you trade more and are generally more tanky as a top lane since you are more exposed to ganks then mid lane is.

For runes, they're the same except you trade out health per level for armor vs the hard AD users, or you can just use the health per level and start cloth armor anyways since the armor will scale with your hp in the first place.

Finishes off casters, reduce healing

You already have W to get away, pool just makes it that much harder to catch you, you can kite around and run in and out.

overrated over ghost on vlad. Good vs Morgana or vs heroes you need to instantly get out of, unless your initation flashes over a wall and u need to follow.

Good vs riven, lee, olaf if you don't want exhaust or ignite

Every 40 points of bonus health gives Vladimir 1 ability power and every 1 point of ability power gives Vladimir 2 bonus health (does not stack with itself).



This passive allows you to go into Defensive or Offensive Masteries and still be as effective.




Vladimir drains the lifeforce of his target, dealing 90/125/160/195/230 (+60% of ability power) magic damage and healing himself for 15/25/35/45/55 (+100% of ability power) of that amount.

Ridiculous sustain, combine with auto attacks and E and you have one crazy ass harass.




Vladimir sinks into a pool of blood for 2.5 seconds, becoming untargetable and slowing enemies above him by 40%.

Vladmir deals 15% of his bonus Health in magic damage over the duration and heals himself for 12.5% of that amount.

Try to avoid using at full hp unless you ult->w Use to avoid stuns and any stuns or w/e that may destroy you




Vladimir unleashes a torrent of blood dealing 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+45% of ability power) magic damage to nearby enemies.

Each cast gives him an Empowered stack (max 4), increasing his healing and regeneration by 8% each. Additionally, his next Tides of Blood deals 25% more damage and costs 50% more Health per stack.

Keep this stacked at 4 for team fights. Don't spam this if you're getting really low in lane, just proceed to spamming Q without pressing this at all unless you want to get a killing blow or commit suicide.



Vladimir infects the target area with a virulent plague. Affected enemies take 10 / 14 / 18% increased damage for 5 seconds.

After 5 seconds, infected enemies take 200 / 300 / 400 (+75% of ability power) magic damage.

Land this ult on 3-4 people and your job here is done.

Try to hit the squishies and then pool under. If you have time for E or Q then do so.

For lvl 1 fight you can get Q or W. W is the best when the enemy is clumped together.

Q for lane harass at lvl 1.

Always Max Q first then E.

Always have 1 of each ability.

Level up W 2nd if your lane is pushed and you have a chance of getting ganked.

Level up E 2nd if your lane is pushed and you can use it to last hit.

Never use W to last hit unless there is 0 pressure.

Starting Items:

same concept as cloth armor except safer for early game when people try to lvl 2-3 cheese you. mainly for the hp and the auto attack harass.

if you choose to push up early with E or try to do a camp to get that early level advantage.

Boots:

I almost never buy this unless I'm against 4 AD's or no armor shred

Buy this vs CC or casters with CC

I usually buy this item most of the time seeing how the more magic pen I have the more health I heal back and the more damage I do

This is good for laning mostly for enemy melee's that are super stubborn such as lee sin. CDR Reduction increases your sustain and damage output in the laning phase. It's also nice for when you rush zhonyas pool -> zhonyas -> pool If you get this you must get void staff.

Core:

Sustains, solid item on vlad, builds into wota which also gives you kage's pick.

Good combo with sorc shoes, the penetration this patch makes vlads damage do way more early game compared to the sustained build, which allows you to go all in pretty early.

Goals:

Safe choice, I would rush this against bruisers or 1 shot casters like morgana or kennen if they were mid. You don't get much damage but you become tanky and you can cancel out stuns or damage. Really valuable item, would take over rylais any day vs ad bruisers.

You can rush this vs casters for more damage since you won't really need the armor. Once you have this and Zhonya's you pretty much are set for the end game.

: goes well with vlad ult, if you have sorc/haunting you will 1 shot most squishies with this combo.

With the new stacking HP meta, this item is the best counter to the 5k hp stack, also goes well with your aoe.


Situational :
Not buying deathcap vs casters? does the enemy have AP top mid jungle and Magic damage bot? Then this is the item for you. (also vs heroes like leblanc)

Getting rolled by Riven or Wukong or Lee Sin because they bought 3 dorans blades? Buy one of these and they'll be crying when you get close to lvl 9 when you just sustain the hell out of the lane where they can't burst you as you spam Q and live all bursts.

A MUST BUY when you don't have sorc boots.

Nothing else to buy? Why not buy HP,AP,SLOW and just increase your overall tankness.

GA+ZHONYAS+POOL+CDR = REALLY ANNOYING VLAD

Early: Auto attack and harass with Q as much as possible. Get W early if against scary lvl 2 ganks. When you hit 6 you have some decent killing potential with your jungler 2v2. I wouldn't recommend being aggressive unless you destroyed them in the laning phase and they're sitting under tower with almost 0 hp. If you can push out your lane and your team is in position for dragon do so. If the enemy is doing dragon with 5, push your lane out past the 1st tower and counter jungle the enemy creeps.

Mid: You're a really strong mid game champ even more so late, if you have double wota you can win early game team fights if done properly. Make sure you use your summoners in team fights properly and give your team a lot of room. You should be winning your lane no matter who you're against. Unless you died or are against some stupid tanky MR tank. Galio actually sucks vs vlad cause he's melee, but rapes him later with the CC if you don't pool

Late: You probably have zhonyas and deathcap by now, just ult as many people as possible go in pool spam all the keys on your keyboard. Don't bait your team, you are the damage amplifier with the zhonyas. If you survive until your ult ends you gain back atleast 200 hp or so, this is really important because every HP counters on vlad. You can clean up well, the longer you are in the fight and the higher the CDR the more damage you will do and be a huge problem to the enemy team.

He will win trades, and sustain as much as you. Until he runs out of mana. Don't underestimate swain even as top lane, if you get hit by his W and you don't W you are screwed. He has better chemistry with his junglers early on.

These top 5 haven't changed that much for this season they're still really strong, honestly anyone with a gap closer you have to be careful for.

All of these champions have some form of aoe or CC, which go well with vlad or vlad's ult

Vlad is a late game caster like Ryze where if you let him get there, he'll just wreck everyone and be a huge problem to your team. His laning phase is semi ridiculous and he has a normal ability that can cancel out the damage of certain ults.
