IntroductionI know there is a lot of ways to play Shyvana, but this is the way I play her and the way I am showing you in this guide.
I am a 1500 elo player, and I love Shyvana for solo queue. She is my favorite champion and really funny to play.
This guide will include rutes, how to counter jungel right and the Shyvana playstyles.
MasteriesThe mastery I have choosen is good for solo queue. It has a fast jungel and mainly gooding defensive for late game. I prefer 9/21/0 over 21/9/0 because she has enough damage for a bruser just on her own and the damage reduction, pluss the extra movement speed (when above 70%) comes real handy.
RunesThese runes are optimized for a fast jungel, fast counterjungeling and offensive ganking. I have chosen to go attack speed glyphs over magic resist. This is because if you get you have enough for a standard teamcomp.
Alternative, if you have enough runepages, you could make another page where you use magic resist/magic resist per level, for teams running dual AP.
I prefer exhaust over flash. Shyvana have her ultimate for escaping, just be careful not to use it to offensive.
CounterjunglingThis is a important chapter about Shyvana. She is one of the fastest jungles and also moves incredible fast! Make use of this.
How to counterjungel:
A good time to counter jungel is when you see the enemy jungler, either with a ward or ganking. Go for his opposite jungel and steal as much as possible. Try leaving one of the smaller monsters at each camp. If you are counterjungling on one of the opposing teams buff; kill everything and take the timer. Red and blue buff camps got a 5:00 respawn timer. Write in chat when the buff respawns. That way your team can come back when it spawns and get it once again.
When counterjungling it's important to keep track of where the enemy laners are. If you see them moving towards you, there is probably a ward somewhere. Buying an early oracle is useful. Just make sure to don't waste it. This is also extremely useful for dragon, baron and ganks. The enemy support is going to get blamed for don't ward if you do the right thing and the other team lose moral (The real way to win solo/duo queue is to make the other team rage and fuck themselves...)
If the enemy has a jungler who starts blue, such as or their blue buff will be up around 7:10. Bring mid and contest it. Make sure to keep track of where they enemy players are.
Note: To be a good counterjungler. You need to know lots about the other champions you are counterjungling. You need to know where the jungler start, what route they are taking. When they are going to be where and how much hp they are going to have left.
Having CV on your team is extremely useful. Ping and ask for a CV. If it's on cooldown, wait for it. Do a minor camp instead. Don't take unnecessary chances, as a jungler. You don't want to fall behind.
Dueling in the jungle occasionally happens when either you are in his jungle or he's in yours. Shyvana is a OK duelist. She can duel most champions (preferably post level 6). If she is losing just use and if needed (Use this to jump a wall).
Champions I would not duel early:
Junglers you shit on in a duel:
A good trick I like to pull in solo queue is:
Start Wolfs, blue. Make sure to get a good pull. Don't use smite on it. Then run over to enemy red and hide in the bush. Then smite the red when he's doing it. You get a free red buff and he loses his. An option then is to give your red buff to top lane or your AD carry.
Jungling and routeStart at wraiths and then go red. Ask mid to attack wraiths and pull red. Then run down and get golems, then back to wraiths. If mid is very pushed (Rarely is) go for a gank, else just he to wolfs and ping for mid to come blue right after. It is now you want to make a good gank as it is now it is easiest to gank. The map is rarely warded the early game, so make use of that. Try to watch map as much as possible, watch for a good gank. Come aid if any of your lanes get ganked and counter gank. If the enemy gank is going horribly and there is no chance for a kill or you are to far away for for his jungel. Leave him with a shitty worthless jungle.
TeamfightsIn teamfights you want to tank as much damage as possible while at the same time not dying. Shyvana is a huge red dragon, people absolutely love to target her with all their spells and auto-attacks. There are multiple options in a teamfight. Earlygame I dive the enemy team to disrupt their AP carry and minimize the damage done to my team. While lategame, when your AD carry got some damage, you want to protect him as much as possible, still while soaking/dealing damage.
Ganks and killsAs a Shyvana your ganks are fairly bad. Exhaust helps well, but you have to be creative when ganking. Run via the enemy jungle is probably the easiest, then trying to drag the target towards your side with . It's important to not use to early when ganking. You want your to tick on the enemy as well as you want the extra seconds of the movementspeed bonus. Hitting your is also important. The 15% armor reduction and damage on hit is quite a lot.
Finaly, try to let the lane have the kill. You want your lane to have the advantage and win the lane. If you gank a lane continually, your partner will dominate and zone the enemy.
Final CommentsHope you like this Shyvana guide and that you can make some use out of it:)
