ITEM BUILD>
Starting Items:

Against a passive farmer (like Nasus) - boots-of-speedhealth-potion3
Against a Heavy AD (like Irelia/GP) - cloth-armorhealth-potion5

You can even start with regrowth-pendanthealth-potion5 if you want to go into philosophers-stone for the GP5 and extra Passive's.

Boots - mercurys-treads Against a heavy CC team.
ninja-tabi Against a heavy AD team.

Mid Game Goals - catalyst-the-protectorglacial-shroudnegatron-cloakheart-of-gold

These items can be built according to what you need, although Glacial Shroud can only be turned into a frozen-heart, the CDR/Mana/Armor from it is too great an item for any Cho to pass up on.

Options for catalyst-the-protector:

banshees-veil is a brilliant item to get against double ap teams, or ap champs which tend to open with a cc move, like Twisted Fate/Annie/Sion/Ryze. As ur bubble is only a 60 sec CD. If u can get it relatively early, it'll be good for warding off harassment from ur lane opp.

rod-of-ages is probably the best item for Cho, in my opinion. The scaling on HP/Mana/AP is brilliant for Cho, plus, I think its 550 Max HP you gain from the item, which is brilliant. Also, as all of Cho's skills scale VERY well from AP, the item increases your damage hugely.

Options for negatron-cloak:

abyssal-scepter is my favourite use of Negatron Cloak on Cho, I was like to play him pretty offensively. The passive on Abbysal Scepter is also brilliant, as most of the time, your in the middle of the teamfight. Also, again, makes Cho hit that much harder.

force-of-nature is also a great item for Cho. Increasing his movement speed is excellent for chasing down, and slowing enemies. Also, the huge HP regen is great for teamfights, as it keeps u alive that bit longer. Also - I think it's the highest MR increase item in the game.

Option for glacial-shroud:

frozen-heart is your only choice for your Shroud. But as i said previously, this is amongst the best items for Cho. CDR/Mana/Armor - this is EVERYTHING Cho needs. Also, in the middle of team fights, this shuts down the AD carry a little too, by cancelling out their PD almost.

Late Game Items - warmogs-armor and randuins-omen

These items, make Cho be untouchable. You'll have around 4k HP with ur 6 Feast Stacks, and Warmogs, which is really large, and you're Randuins is going to give out a brilliant AoE slow, some nice Regen/Armor/HP. Pretty basic items again.
Introduction
Hello thur! This is my second guide on this site, and it's for my favourite champ, Cho Gath. I believe, he is one of the best Solo Top's in the game, he can also jungle very well, but this is a Solo Top Guide, so if ur looking for a Jungle Guide, be gone! With Cho Gath's Passive, his lane sustain is ridiculously large, healing about 50 hp per cs. Farming under the turret is no hardship either, but i'll get onto that in the skill section. Enjoy!

Masteries
Alright, so it turns out im unable to upload pictures to photobucket atm :S

Soooo ill just write them out..

Offense:

Mental Force: 4
Sorcery: 4
Arcane Knowledge: 1

I've take these to get more AP/CDR/MagicPen... pretty basic to be honest, they all aid in damage at the end of the day.

Defense:

Resistance: 3
Hardiness: 3
Durability: 4
Vigor: 4
Veteran Scars: 1
Initiator: 3
Englightenment: 3
Juggernaut: 1

Everywhere down to Veteran Scars is basic, and I dont think needs an explanation... Initiator and Englightenment i found to be essential, the extra CDR on Cho, is brilliant, as alot of items/masteries i've invested in, contain CDR, and the extra movement speed, is super helpful as well. I decided to take these 2 over Honor Guard and Mercenary, because I dont think the extra gold is that needed, and 0.5% damage, really isn't alot to be fair.
Same reason as above. Sorry for the lack of picture guys :(

Anyways! The AP Quints, apparently are not used alot? o.o I think they're brilliant, just for that early game harass, as Cho's damage isn't quite the same as say.. Riven or Gangplanks, ergo making ganks a little harder. The blue and yellows make Cho's stats 59 Armor, and 53 Magic Resist (When you start Cloth and 5, which I tend to do). Magic Pen Reds i find are brilliant, just for the extra damage when ur harassing.
Summoner Spells
[summoners/ignite.png][summoners/flash.png]

Explanation:

I tend to choose Ignite and Flash, I find Ignite is brilliant on ganks, if ur damage is a tiny bit under, and u need to finish the kill, ignite is perfect. Also, it helps shut champs with Summoner Heal down, which again, is mega useful.

In my opinion, Flash is a necessity on any champ, for running away, or getting in range for that Feast for a NOMNOMNOMNOMNOM keel.

Other options:

[summoners/clarity.png]: NO. Dont be stupid and run this. With ur passive, you're regaining mana anyways, please don't let me see any of these.

[summoners/cleanse.png]: Can't see this being used alot on Cho tbh... viable i guess...

[summoners/exhaust.png]: Brilliant for ganks, although you've already got a brilliant Knock Up and Slow, and 9/10 your jungler is going to have cc. I wouldn't recomend this.

[summoners/ghost.png]: Yeah it's got the same reasoning as flash to be honest.

[summoners/heal.png]: Same as Clarity, not needed at all.

[summoners/teleport.png]: Can be extremely useful for teleport ganks/Baron/Dragon etc. Also gives pretty good map control.
Skills
[skills/chogath/p.png] Passive: Carnivore

Whenever Cho'Gath kills a unit, he recovers 34 - 68 (+2.5 each level) health and 3.5-7.75 mana (+0.25 each level)/

Explanation:

BEST. PASSIVE. EVER!! This gives Cho unbelievable sustain in both Mana, and HP. Keeps u alive in ur lane for ALOT longer than most champs. I think only Warwick can sustain as much as Cho...

[skills/chogath/q.png] Q: Rupture

Ruptures the ground at target location. After a short delay, enemies are launched into the air for 1 second, dealt 80 / 135 / 190 / 245 / 305 (+100% of ability power) magic damage, and have their movement speed slowed by 60% for 3 seconds.

Cooldown 10 seconds

Cost 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 / 120 mana

Range 950

Explanation:

This is what you use to initiate, and to stop ur opponents initiating. Also, its going to be ur main cc on ganks, brilliant for escaping, or closing a gap. The AP ratio's on the skill are insane, so running AP with this skill works well.

[skills/chogath/w.png] W: Feral Scream

Cho'Gath screams in a cone in front of him, silencing enemies for 2 / 2.5 / 3 / 3.5 / 4 second(s) and causing 75 / 125 / 175 / 225 / 275 (+70% of ability power) magic damage.

Cooldown 16 seconds

Cost 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 mana

Range 300

Explanation:

During the laning phase, this will be ur main source of damage, and ur main source of harass. I tend to max this before any other skill. It's also one of the only AoE silence's in the game. :D

I tend to use it shutting down the AP Carry. Or, if the team has ad AD Champ, which is heavily reliant on skills (Pantheon, Yorick etc) silence them and take them out've the game temporarily.

[skills/chogath/e.png] E: Vorpal Spikes

Toggle: Cho'gath's physical attacks launch spikes which deal 20 / 35 / 50 / 65 / 80 (+30% of ability power) magic damage to a line in front of him.

Range 40

Explanation:

This skill. makes farming with Cho, way to easy. Under the turret, with this skill at lvl 1, and the AP Quints, you will be able to last hit everything under the turret, melee minions after 2 turret hits, caster minions after 1. Also, as it scales off ap, it actually does noticable damage.

[skills/chogath/r.png] R: Feast

Deals 300 / 475 / 650 (+70% of ability power) damage to target champion, or 1000 damage to target minion (ignores resists).

If the target is killed by Feast, Cho'Gath grows, gaining 90 / 120 / 150 maximum health (maximum 6 stacks). Cho'Gath loses up to half (rounded up) stacks upon death.

Cooldown 60 seconds

Cost 100 mana

Range 100

Explanation:

Wai Cho so famous. The fact this is true damage, and scales with AP very well, is kind've OP. At lvl 3 with this skill, and some AP investment, ur going to be dishing out stupidly large amounts of damage. With a relatively small cooldown, you can use it on a minion if u dont think there is going to be a life/death situation in ur lane within the minute. Also, with 6 stacks of this, Cho looks sooooo cool :J

Early Game
In my opinion, your main early game goal is to farm up, and get to your core items. Harassing your opponent down with your Feral Scream and forcing them out've lane allows you to push your lane right to enemy turret, making sure your opponent loses out on the exp. During this time, if you are on the Blue Team, go and take your opponents Large Golem, if you're on the Red Team, take their Big Wolf, and ward the enemy blue. With the extra Movement Speed you get from the Masteries, it should be no problem escaping if their jungler finds you.

Enemy Junglers NOT to counter:

Mundo - He is far to fast, with huge damage/steroid, and an awfully annoying slow, he WILL catch u and kill you if he sees you.

Riven - Riven has high burst damage, a knock-up, a gap closer and a stun, if she catches u, unless ur able to silence and knock her up first, you WILL die.

Enemy Junglers TO counter:

Gangplank - A slow jungler imo, sure he has a speed boost, but his slow is miniscule, and his damage isn't massive.

Shyvana - Although having a big amount of damage, and speed, imo shes very easy to escape with ur Q, flashing over a wall if needs be.

Nautilus - A seriously slow champ, he has alot of cc, but his skill-shot is easily dodged if u stay close to a wall, and you can always silence if you need to.

Also, if u find you're pushing too much, but can't keep up the harass, turn off your Vorpal Spikes, this slows the lane pushing right down.

ONLY use ur Feast on a minion when you KNOW there isn't a Dragon attempt coming up, or u wont be in any life or death situations.

In addition, please, dear lord, don't try and harass with your Rupture or your Feast. -.-'
Mid Game
This is where the teamfights kick in, I believe that Cho Gath is an excellent initiator, as he has alot of HP, and a ton of defensive stats. In teamfights, you NEED to be the tank, and you NEED to get the AD carry out've the picture. An entire enemy team is easily Silence and Knocked Up with your Q/W combination, and it splits the team up really easily. If you're going to chase anyone, make sure its the AD or AP carry.

Winning Dragon:

If your team starts dragon, and the enemy team engages, if you dont think you're going to win the team fight, make sure the dragon gets to less than 1k HP, then Feast it, flashing over the wall behind Dragon. Some may call this stupid, but its extremely often u see a suicide for a dragon. If your Flash isn't up, then just try ur best to escape, or target a carry. Using ur Q and ur W, escaping is actually fairly easy, especially since Rupture is a fairly low cooldown.
In addition, please, dear lord, don't try and harass with your Rupture or your Feast. -.-'
Late Game
If you have followed the build, and haven't stopped getting creep kills, you're going to be pretty damn close to unstoppable (as in, not able to be stopped, not the killing spree.. but u could be the killing spree version too... if u get me). All you really need to do is finish your build, and play the same roll as you always have, the tank. Also - You're going to have about 4k HP, if u finish with Warmogs, and about 200 Armor, so don't be afraid to tank turrets, because it's really not difficult.
Final Comments
Thanks alot for reading this, as you can see, I haven't done a chapter on my item build explanation, as I did it all in the actually Item section.. if u catch my drift. I hope this helps you all, and I hope to see some Pro Cho's running around with my guide. :D

Nice guide but I have a few things to say: Bubble has 45 seconds cooldown and if you build HoG after Glacial, Catalyst and Negatron it is really late and probably not worth it to get.
