Introduction
IMPORTANT!: This playstyle is not made for solo-fighting something despite other supporters. It´s meant for supporting your team in killing the enemy Carry fast.I personally saw the first AD Sona,when i played Sona(carry)+ Janna(sup) on bot lane, it was pretty much fun, when we raped our enemies hard.
A real problem with it is, that AD Sona is pretty much unknown and underestimated, so it often happens, that you will get blamed for a loss and called a noob for your build. BUT here are the reasons,why i rather would play AD than "normal" support:
AD:
- power chord - stacatto deals HEAVY damage, if combined with the passive of Trinity force / Sheen. In Mid-game its about 500 dmg non-critical. A carry should have about 2,5k HP then, just so that one attack takes him 20% of his total life.
- Phantom dancer, trinity force, boots +
will bring you up to 500 movement speed, which grants you a fast travel over the entire map, so you can aid your allys or chase your enemies. - it´s just so fucking much fun killing bad carrys as Sona.

So actually here it is the damage support from power chord - stacatto vs. little bonus dmg/heal on your spells. in mid-game it should be about + 70 on your
+ ~ 100 on ![skills/sona/r.png [skills/sona/r.png]](guide/skills/sona/r.png)
, which is better overall. BUT in teamfights nanoseconds and burst damage count, so just think of this: helping your team killing enemy carry in 2 seconds with the AD build or need 3 seconds and you can heal your team for 70 more in that time. In this 1 more second a carry can get out up to 2 attacks, which is much more damage, than your 70+ heal heals, though i have to admit it also can save your allys ass.The biggest problem i see is, that this build is VERY expensive. I myself sacrifice my wards thatfor. In early i pick some, but to mid-game i actually dont buy any anymore. i just dont need them myself. (i have a good reaction time from playing ego-shooterz for about 15 years now.) which also is, what makes my teammates calling me a "noob" and "retard"... well if you need the wards... GET THEM URSeLF!
(@ this point, if i play janna / leona i ward the entire map, so if i would play sona on a "normal" support style, i also would plant wards everywhere i go.)

Summoner Spells

Explanation:
The typical Summoner spells for a support in these days, because most Carry play with Heal and Flash, so they can need your exhaust to get a kill or to get away. Your Flash can be used in both ways, too. I personally like to flash to a fleeing enemy just to put my exhaust on him + attacking him with power chord - tempo, when exhaust is about to run off.

Skills
Passive: Power ChordAfter casting 3 spells, Sona's next attack deals 14 damage + 9 x lvl in bonus magic and a bonus effect depending on Sona's last song played.
Additionally, Sona's Auras persist for 3 seconds after deactivating and set off a 2 second global cooldown.
Explanation:
Q: Hymn of ValorPersistent Aura: Sona plays the Hymn of Valor, increasing nearby allied champions Damage and Ability Power by 8/11/14/17/20.
Activation: Sona fires bolts of sound, dealing 50/100/150/200/250 (+70% ability power) magic damage to the nearest two enemies (prioritizes champions).
Power Chord - Stacatto: Deals double power chord damage
Cost 65 Mana

Explanation:
W: Aria of PerseverancePersistent Aura: Sona plays the Aria of Perseverance, increasing nearby allied champions Armor and Magic Resist by 7/9/11/13/15.
Activation: Sona sends out healing melodies, healing Sona and the most wounded nearby allied champion by 40/60/80/100/120 (+25% ability power). Grants double her passive aura bonus to her heal target and herself for 3 seconds
Power Chord - Diminuendo: Debuffs the target to deal 20% less damage for 4 seconds
Cost 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80 Mana

Explanation:
E: Song of CelerityPersistent Aura: Sona plays the Song of Celerity, granting nearby allied champions 8/11/14/17/20 bonus Movement Speed.
Activation: Sona energizes nearby allies, granting them 6/8/10/12/14% Movement Speed for 1.5 seconds.
Power Chord - Tempo: Slows the target by 40% for 2 seconds

Skill Order
Well you want to aid your team with DPS, so you will need to max your DPS(Q) skill as fast as possible. I myself do only get W sooner than E, because while lane phase, i often see my carry running into the enemies either senselessly or they get an ignite on him, when he is on 2% health, so i can save him from that.
Dont underestimate E anyway, even though it doesnt deal damage itself, its a good way to chase enemies with your comrades.
Item Builds
Why did i choose that kind of build?Explanation:

- You are NOT the carry and you should not steal last hits, so you will have to get your money in a different way. Here it is. okok.. telling all items i get to the final build would take to long, so i do it faster:
- if you are to slow, someone dies.
- You attack faster, get critical strike chance and additional movementspeed. Just perfect for both, defense and offense.
- The most expensive and one of the strongest items ingame. I myself actually took it the first time because of the passiv effect. Just imagine 150% of your AD put on the attack + power chord - stacatto = sick burst damage. But thats not everything. You get a slowchance for free aswell and a bunch of AD,AP and movementspeed. What do you want more?
- Sona always is squishy, this will make you live a while longer.
- More mana -> more aura dance. AND more AD!!
- MOAR DÄMÄGE
- Running with a rocket in your ass. Good for chasing and fleeing.
Early Game
As i said, pick
and
in the beginning. This will save your some money for later. If you cant be sure to get at least one assist within the first 5 minutes, you can pick one more ward.Plant one ward at the crossing beneath the dragon , so you can slightly look into the bottom jungle, at 1:40.
Now it depends on if you get pushed or if you push.
If you get pushed, put the other ward into the upper bush, if you push into the lower. Its just to pretend supporters like Alistar from jumping out and knocking you up. In addition it helps you to hit them with your Q.
Your first item aims while Early Game are

. They give you a pretty good defence and manaregg for now, so you can stay on lane for a longer time. If you dont have enough money to get Heart of gold, too, just get boots.If your partner goes back, but you still have enough mana / life you can retreat behind the bushes and farm some minions from there. Just make sure you dont get killed^^.
Mid Game
The hot phase beginns. Try not to stand alone. Even though you should have your
now (you should have it after 8 - 12 minutes,depending on how good you and your mate killed enemy champions) and are pretty fast with
to it, you are very squishy. Only a 1 second stun can be enough for your demise.Just go on sticking to your Carry. If you need to plant more wards (as i said in the introduction, i myself dont need that much wards) especially to dragon and all entrances to the enemie´s jungle( hide them in bushs, so you can see hidden enemies). Best would be, if you can manage to ward the whole river, but this will cost you a lot of money and will delay this expensive build even more.
While Mid Game you can experience, how much damage your enemies deal and if they focus you. If they do you should get

Late Game

Make sure you get an oracle, and destroy all enemy wards. (best would be, if everyone n your team has one)
Team Fights
In teamfights its important you dont die in any AE, so stand a bit behind, but not so far, that enemies can target you easily. The main rule in every team fight is, to kill the enemies carry first and not the tank. So try to attack the carry. Depending on the situation you might have to switch your aura, befor fiering your power chord, but you will get used to that pretty fast. (if he runs away, use Tempo, if he stays Stacattto.Also use your
on cooldown, even though it doesnt heal as much as on a "normal" Sona, it still can save someones ass. If you see a mate wants to run switch to
.If everything is according to plan,
should always be your third used spell, so you get power chord - stacatto.Ultimate: AVOID HITTING A SINGLE TARGET DURING TEAMFIGHTS!!
Always look for a position, where you can stun most of the enemies. The best way to use it is, to interrupt some deadly Ultimates, like Katharin´s Lotus. Another good use is to help an ally fleeing or pretend the enemy carry to flee. Make sure u fire it early enough to hit as many enemies as possible, while archiving your aim at the same time.
Dont waste it at the beginning of the fight, except you are sure the focused one dies within the stun.

- good slow for early kills, strong ultimate and gets very strong in mid - late game.2.
- She is just insane. No slow herself, but if you get on your´s, the enemy will just get ripped apart.3.
- Havn´t seen one that often, but what i have seen was amazing. Slow, good damage, high range.
Final Comments
I hope this guide helped you a little. I have a lot of fun playing Sona like this, even if i´m hated by my team often. I think they just dont know you can play most of the support as AD, too.
