Introduction
This guide is STRICTLY for mid-diana. Hello summoners, and welcome to my Diana build. Diana is a mage-assasin champion that relies heavily on magic damage.
In this guide i will try to explain why people cry so much over her in her current state (as of 13.8.2012) and how to make use of this hard-snowballing champion before riot nerfs her to the ground.
I am currently at about 2k elo and i wanted to share my thoughts on how to play this fun champion
Masteries
For masteries you want to go either 21/9/0 or 21/0/9 depending on how confident you feel against your opponent. If you are facing a heavy harassing champion, i suggest picking up the extra magic resist and hp from the defence tree. If you're facing a champion that you think you will be able to outlane you should want to get 9 into utility for the extra mana+regen and buff durations.the 21 in offence is pretty straightforward, you want to get as much bang for the buck as you can, which the offence tree gives you. You want to get 3 points into brute force for easier last hitting, and that's about the only uncommon thing in the tree. Pick up the mpen and all the AP you can and proceed to wreck faces.
Runes
Runes are pretty straightforward aswell, you want as much ap you can get with that extra magic resist to protect you from their middle harassing you. You can swap out the yellows for armor or the quints for move-speed, it comes down to personal preference really.
Summoner Spells
![summoners/flash.png [summoners/flash.png]](guide/summoners/flash.png)
![summoners/ignite.png [summoners/ignite.png]](guide/summoners/ignite.png)
Explanation:
Not much to see here, flash for getting away or chasing or re-positioning, ignite for that extra bit of damage+healing reduction.
Skills
Passive: Moonsilver BladeDiana has increased Attack Speed. Every third strike cleaves nearby enemies for additional magic damage.
Explanation:
This passive is pure gold. It scales really decently with AP so you will be doing HUGE damage every 3rd attack. A trick that you can learn is to auto minions twice, try to hit a Q on your opponent and dash in with your ult, proccing your passive on your first AA which allows even more burst.
The attack speed is really nice for easier last hits and more dps through AS iteslf aswell as the magic damage passive bonus.
Q: Crescent StrikeDiana swings her blade to unleash a bolt of lunar energy, afflicting enemies with Moonlight and dealing damage in an arc before exploding.
Explanation:
The most interesting skillshot there is! Pretty easy to land and will set you up for the rest of your abilities. Hitting your Q is HUGE in any skirmish, as if you miss 1 or 2 Qs you might lose the fight, so be cautious when to engage.
You will level this first as your primary damage spell, good for harass and creep clearing, aswell as resetting the cooldown on your ult once per hit.
W: Pale CascadeDiana creates three orbiting spheres that detonate on contact with enemies to deal damage in an area. She also gains a temporary shield that absorbs damage. This shield is refreshed if all three spheres detonate.
Explanation:
A really nice offensive and defensive ability. You max this second due to it being your second damage spell. Your 3 orbs will usually detonate, which gives you antoher shield which is really nice. If you hit your Q, pop this, R in, follow up with E and do a few autos to proc your passive and finish with Q+R+ignite, or disengage.
E: MoonfallDiana draws in and slows all nearby enemies.
Explanation:
Your utility spell on a pretty long cooldown. The slow is massive and will allow you to stay on your target for quite a bit. You can also escape ganks by using this ability on the jungeler. "But muffit this ability pulls them towards me!". Correct, but whilst in the air this functions as a mini-disable, and the slow afterwards will allow you got get away.
Max this last as it's pure utility.
R: Lunar RushDiana teleports to an enemy and deals magic damage. Lunar Rush has no cooldown when used to teleport to a target afflicted with Moonlight.
Explanation:
Oh snap, akali reloaded. Your ult is great in so many ways! It does immense damage at every stage of the game, it can be used to dish out heavy burst, chase, get away (use on minion/another enemy) and really whatever you might feel like using it for. If you hit your Q this will reset once BUT BEWARE, using it a second time will put it on a cooldown, reasonably short but you might want to wait to hit another Q before using it again, depending on the fight in question.
Level this whenever possible (6,11,16)

Early Game
Focus on farming early game, roaming bot/top if you see them overextended, getting wraiths, warding for yourself aswell as actively harassing and trying to get kills past level 6. Be supportive of your jungeler and pay attention to any engagements.
Mid Game
This is where you shine, bait a dragon/baron and collapse on the enemy. Seek out the ad/ap carry with a Q, ulti in and burst them down before they can even say 2 words about it. Let your team engage though, whatever you do. Keep farming and actively trying to kill your mid if you're ahead enough(which you should be).
Late Game
Same thing as mid game, except now you're gonna have to watch out for the enemys ad carry aswell as bruiser. The later the game goes the stronger they become (with some exceptions), and you want to go in ONLY if you know you can kill the ad carry before he kills you. Use your mobility to get to the high-priority targets and don't be afraid to go balls deep. A good thing to do is to Q on an enemy, ult in, use E to drag them all towards you and pop zhonyas, allowing your team to collapse and leaving the enemies dumbstruck. You should have the most of your items by now aswell, which makes your auto attacks very valuable. Try to always get the 3rd hit on as many people as possible (it's a small aoe raidus cleave).
Team Fights
Focus the squishies and avoid CC! Jump on the ad/ap carry with your Q+R and burst them down with your full combo before they can retaliate. Switch to the next priority target. Only use your ult twice;putting it on cooldown if you KNOW it's a good time to do so (finish the ad/ap before they can flash or gain distance/you're close to dead and want to dish out as much damage as possible/cleanup time)
Final Comments
