what i dont get: why isnt anybody building to her strengths: AS for more w procs and health for her passive? i just picked her up and go warmogs and PD on her with excellent results, jet neither one of these items is in any guide for her... what am i missing
@slater Yea i guess you got a point there it is pretty expensive for just armor and CDR. Have you guys tried Attack speed on her? Attack speed Makes her an EXTREMELY strong fighter in prolonged fights. Although i suppose the Attack speed from her passive might be enough and having burst might be more useful. I have just seen a few Vis really tear apart tanks with some attack speed mixed in through zephyr or wits end. Though i guess Hexdrinker>wits end
@Bam lee: a few members of the staff tested Iceborn Gauntlet on her, and came to the conclusion that it is not worth it on her. Sure it gives her a nice slow, and armor, and Mana, but AP doesn't improve her DPS as only her E uses it, and her E cannot trigger the slow on ranged targets. Frozen mallet is a much better option due to it's constantly refreshed slow, High bonus HP which scales with her passive, and the AD on it, while low, scales across all of her skills, and her auto attacks.
you should add that frozen fist item to defensive options. I think its pretty nice to stick to your target and would prolly prefer it over trinty although i have to admit i havent tested tri-force enough yet on her
@8Hundred: Usually, if you can start wolves, then go for blue, with good assistance on both camps, you should be very well off. Keeping your health up is really just knowing when to do, and when not to do certain camps. If you feel you can double golems and be fine, then go for it, however, my big thing is i will usually only grab Double golems maybe, once or twice before level 6, as i tend to leave them to top/bot lane most of the time. After level 6, i start picking them up more often. Basically, a steady cycle of Wolves/wraiths, ganking, buffs will keep you healthy, and on par with where you should be in level(so long as you don't spend to much time waiting for the gank to present itself). You can also use 3 life steal quints instead of the AD quints to help with sustain problems. Keep tabs on your shield's CD as well, so that you can activate it as needed when it's ready.
Done a couple of games following some things from your guide, Your skill choice says your W first btw, but I'm sure E has better damage output on the jungle mobs (I think you have stated this later in the guide). The Vampy scepter, brut and phage build is quite strong on her early if you can keep a flow of gank jungle gank jungle. Only go in for ganks if they look like definite kills however as you can put yourself into some rather nasty situations with your initiations, I have managed to ult people under their turrets from brushes 3 times so far 100% successful which was nice.
Problem I have with her however is even though I go tanky masteries, I still find myself clearing the jungle fast but ending up on low health, in your guide you mention to stay in the jungle as long as possible to get those core items, how do I go about clearing my jungle with Vi and then ganking a lane with both of my buffs on? I just get the feels she is fragile.
Also, That hunter's machete is excellent early game, and mid game I go ahead and sell it to get myself those core items. It feels like free money. =^.^=
I understand. I have also found that since she does quite a bit of natural damage and tends to get focused, going heavily tanky really helps. the classic "Atmogs" really worked nicely for me in my last game, and the early avarice blade kept me up to par in gold.
With that, i havent been needing lifesteal as much, the quints are enough for jungle.
@Chaonix: not sure what is so glass cannon about about 3520 total hp, 171.69 armor, 142.5 MR, and a passive shield equal to 10% of that HP. Building more the 150 MR is usually not a wise investment due to diminishing returns, her armor honestly isn't that bad, as she not a tank, shes a bruiser, and generally bruisers float around 200 armor. shes actually very well off(keep in mind, i did not figure in tabi or mercs into this). I do provide an optional mastery page, and there are numerous different items to choose. However, Tanking her up is a bad idea, as she doesn't play very well at all as a tank. Shes like Jax and Lee sin, she needs damage, and some defense, and then shes good to go. If you however need it, you can always keep machete, and build it into spirit of the ancient golem, or build a Maw for more MR while retaining Damage. This is a day one guide, so there purpose of these guides(what we're intending with them), is to give you some to start with as a base, and then build from. It makes it easier for people to start off with items in mind, rather then creating a build on the fly in game. My general build is the example build at the end of the item build chapter, and its served me VERY well in all of my games with her(the games that i didn't have to change things up to accommodate for).
@xrystus: to be honest, i don't like manamune at all. But if you like to build it, then go for it. Always do what you are most comfortable with.
@Aldrahill: As stated by slater, You don't really need wriggles for dragon control and sustain. Vi has some pretty decent survivability on her own, but if you need the sustain, you can factor in life steal quints, or rush Vampiric scepter. You also shouldn't be the only one keep watch on dragon with wards. In terms of the wriggles proc for killing it faster, yes it's nice, but not really a requirement. Right now, I'm like Spirit of the elder lizard on junglers much better then wriggles.
