IntroductionI have been using this build for a while now and think it matches my play style more than the traditional Olaf AD/Tank builds. this build focuses solely on massive damage and health, the ability to take hard hits and hand back even harder ones. I play aggressively, meaning I like to be able to over extend and still be fine when pushed to a tower, this build allows me to do just that.
MasteriesWhile most people go for the 21/9/0 mastery set-up I prefer 21/0/9 with the 9 points in utility for Flash CDR, movement speed, mana regen, and the item cooldown mastery ,Artificer. By doing this your able to get to your position in lane faster, use abilities more often, and when the time comes late game activate items such as Ravenous Hydra much more often.
RunesInstead of the normal Olaf runes focusing on armor, MR, health, and AD I go for all out AD Marks, Seals, Glyphs, and Quints granting +22 AD from runes alone. Starting with 98 AD right when the game starts really sets you up for early lane dominance. Most people don't expect this from an Olaf since the norm is to go tanky. This allows for much faster farming, and dealing more damage early game forcing your opponent from the lane more often.
This is probably the only normal thing about this build. You just can't go wrong with Flash & Ignite
Passive: Berserker Rage
Olaf's passive grants him 1% increased attack speed for every 1% health missing, to me this means i'm going to stay in a fight longer than my opponent and deal more damage for doing so.
Undertow is excellent for farming and poking at the same time. The slow allows you to chase your opponent and keep hammering him with auto-attacks. Late game its great for initiating team-fights or catching that poor champion trying to be the Back Door hero.
W: Vicious Strikes
When activated, Vicious Strikes increases AD by a percentage of his max health. This is great for when you have gotten that Warmog's Armor and go to knock down towers.
E: Reckless Swing
True Damage...who doesn't like that?
Olaf's Ult Ragnarok renders all crowd control and slows useless for a brief period of time. This is useful for chasing down pesky champs with annoying slows and snares, or for running from them in a team fight gone wrong.
Skill OrderI try to alternate maxing Undertow and Reckless Swing to max them almost at the same time while leaving Vicious Strikes as the last thing to max. This allows for high True Damage from Reckless Swing and high damage and strong slows from Undertow for early/mid game effectiveness. Take Ragnarok at 6, 11, and 15 as usual.
Item BuildsThis is where the fun begins, instead of starting with and start the game with and . This lets you have the early game damage and a head start at building into your core items.
On your first recall, depending on the amount of gold you have, pick up a and/or . This gives you the build for your which lets you build into the all around Olaf core item . Getting the with the gives you the increased Attack Speed and the Movement speed for chasing.
Continue farming until you have the money to build into your damage items (, , these continue into the .
The next item you should get would be the for the massive increase to your health with supplements the damage increase from your Vicious Strikes.
The last items in this build are entirely situation based, depending on who is doing the most damage (AP Casters or ADCs) for the ADC and I recommend a for the Attack Damage and Magic Resist.
