Introduction
Hello everyone and welcome to my guide. this is just a guide to get you out of low elo and into diamond. Although i may not be a pro, i have used this guide to carry my team numerous of times. I have played nidalee probably for over 500 games (220 this season), counting the ones on my other accounts. In my opinion nidalee is one of the strongest tops in the game. She has one of the best sustains and poke, making her a big bully, before level 6 and the highest burst at level 6. You can search me up "PickNidaleeGG" on Lolking.net.

I am currently playing in Diamond 5

Unless you are vsing an ap lane (then take magic resist blues), use ability per lv runes, because nid scales very well with ap, so maxing your spear combined with auto attacks bullies your opponents early game. The attack damage quince are a MUST, because without them, your auto attacks will be much less threatening and your opponents won't be afraid to stay in lane.
Summoner Spells
[summoners/ignite.png][summoners/flash.png]

Explanation:

After you have poked down your lane opponent, ignite is the best summoner spell for gap closing along with a spear. Your opponents will play much more passive/safe if they see ignite instead of teleport. However, teleport is viable in some situations. I take flash because im not silsol.
Masteries
Along with hybrid penetration runes, taking armor pen, m pen, attack damage and a little of durability in defense will allow you to poke and win almost all trades. 3 points in mana regen is very helpful for sustain. I take attack speed instead of cooldown because it lets you poke much easier while moving in and out of brushes to take less minion aggro.
Skill Order
I ALWAYS max q, unless you somehow get very behind, then take another point in your heal "e", otherwise max q for maximum poke damage. Skill order is always R>Q>E>W
Item Builds
starting items:
health-potion5health-potionmana-potion3sight-ward2
This is only used for Elise and other champs that usually trade well against you
boots-of-speedhealth-potion4
wait for the 4th pot. This is probably the best way to start. You wont need a ward if you place your traps correctly and play passive until level 6. The movement speed will help you get away from darius/jax/renekton and other champs that have massive burst if you get close.
dorans-blade
This item is used against jayce/cho/nasus, because you can out bully them in lane. Don't play too aggressive if the enemy jungler has not been seen for a long time on the mini map, because you can get baited very easily. The auto attacks provide lots of sustain because 30 auto attacks=1 pot.

Vs ad:
ninja-tabisunfire-capefrozen-fist
If you are winning your lane, rush a frozen fist. If you are playing passive or losing, rush tabis and build towards sunfire. Sunfire allows you to split push during mid game and it makes you very tanky

VS ap:
spirit-visagemercurys-treadsmaw-of-malmortius
rush kindlegem against aps and then finish your visage. Boots isnt nessecary, because it doesn't provide you sustain. Then build normal boots and transition into a hexdrinker unless the enemy team has massive cc

finished builds vs ad:
ninja-tabisunfire-capefrozen-fistranduins-omenlocket-of-the-iron-solariblade-of-the-ruined-king
blade and frozen fist provides lots of ad while being big

finished build vs double ap:
mercurys-treadsspirit-visagerunic-bulwarkwarmogs-armorfrozen-fistmaw-of-malmortius
If the enemy team has double ap carries on their team such as rumble and swain, then tell your support that you will be getting the aegis and later on super aegis (runic), because this item gives you LOTS of magic resist. You will need the mr more than your support and it still provides the aura to your team.

finished build vs balanced team:
mercurys-treadsspirit-visagefrozen-fistsunfire-caperanduins-omenblade-of-the-ruined-king
This is what i normally build against normal teams

items i dont recommend:
muramanathe-bloodthirster
If you need life steal, blade is still more efficient than bloodthirster and chalice trumps muramana in my opinion

other items to reconsider:
chalice-of-harmonyguardian-angelthe-brutalizerblade-of-the-ruined-kingwarmogs-armor[items/trinity-force.png]
chalice works great against yorick, other then that, i dont recommend buying it. Brutilizer and Locket provides cdr which helps in sustain and burst when trading. warmogs provides hp if you need it and blade provides extra damage with a helpful active to gap close. I have NEVER bought trinity ever since iceborn came out, because the slow on iceborn is just too good to not buy over trinity. Trinity, however, gives attack speed/more damage, but i still recommend iceborn>trinity

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS buy:
sight-ward
Skills
[skills/nidalee/p.png] Passive: Prowl

Explanation:

This passive allows you to decide if you want to wait till mid game to buy your boots. It also allows you to get free poke on your opponent while walking in and out of brushes, taking little to no minion aggro. When running, always try to get into brushes to obtain this movement speed boost

[skills/nidalee/q.png] Q: Javelin Toss / Takedown

Explanation:

I always max this first because the base damage + the amplified damage of how far away the spear is becomes phenomenal when combined with your auto attacks. When you have cougar form, takedown is a very good finisher as your opponents get low

[skills/nidalee/w.png] W: Bushwhack / Pounce

Explanation:

ALWAYs, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, start with this skill because by abusing this skill early game allows you to put 4-5 traps down before minions have spawned. If you are to start boots 3, head up and place your traps. At around 1:25, start heading back and buy your 4th pot. This allows you to place your traps AND get your 4th pot. In cougar form, the pounce allows you to catch up to opponents, or run away. You can also leap over small walls which is very helpful when trying to run/chase enemies.

[skills/nidalee/e.png] E: Primal Surge / Swipe

Explanation:

The heal helps with sustain, and the attack damage is very powerful late game. Use your heal on the adc, unless you need to heal up. In cougar form, swipe allows you to add to the burst from the W>E>Q combo.

[skills/nidalee/r.png] R: Aspect Of The Cougar

Explanation:

Nidalee's transformation skill which allows you to switch in/out of cougar form. Always max this because it raises all of your abilities base damage (you're not jayce)

Early Game
1. Always keep your farm up. It is not worth it to poke your opponents than to miss a creep
2. Only poke when you are waiting for the creeps to get low to last hit
3. Dont poke when the opponents minion wave is much bigger than yours, because you will take a lot of aggro
4. Try to poke in and out of brushes so you gain the extra movement speed while avoiding minion aggro
5. Keep your distance especially for champs like darius/jax/riven/xin/renekton
Late Game
Late game is basically the same as mid game. Your opponents think your only good for poking. Well, they are wrong. Because of this unique build, you can go quite tanky in team fights. This is why you can actually go frontline with your team and try to take out their adc. First, try to poke at their carries before confronting a team fight. Once they get poked down, team fights will be much easier to win. Nidalee can be a very good clean up champ because her q picks up a lot of kills when chasing someone down
Matchups
[champ/akali.png]
Difficulty: 4/10

Akali is nothing until level 6, i would recommend starting [items/dorans-blade.png] and just poking her till all of her health pots are gone. Try to reach 6 and you can easily kill her. If you are ahead on the first time you recall, buy [items/vision-ward.png] and build towards [items/spirit-visage.png][items/hexdrinker.png][items/chalice-of-harmony.png]

[champ/chogath.png]
difficulty: 5/10

start and proceed to poke. Dodging his skill shots=win lane basically. Dont let cho farm and snowball big for late game, or he will actually do something.

[champ/darius.png]
2/10 or 9/10

If you know how to play smart and stay out of Darius' pull, then this will be the easiest lane ever. Start [items/dorans-blade.png] if you are confident that you will dominate him, or [items/boots-of-speed.png][items/health-potion4.png] if you want to play safe. If darius hooks you and kills you early, then he will snowball and lane phase will be hell for you. After buying 2 dorans, build straight tabis and then sunfire

[champ/elise.png]
7/10

start [items/health-potion5.png][items/health-potion4.png][items/sight-ward2.png] and just sustain early till level 6. Then buy [items/hexdrinker.png][items/chalice-of-harmony.png] and build towards spirit visage. After buying mr, lane phase will ease.

[champ/fiora.png]
7/10?

never played against a fiora before (not a very popular champ), but im pretty sure poking will be harder than usual because of her "w" ability. Build armor early and focus on farming if she wins trades.

[champ/gangplank.png]
3/10?

gp also isnt a very popular champ and you can easily win trades, because he can only parley you and back off

[champ/garen.png]
2/10

Garen is one of the easier match ups, unless he snowballs like darius. You can kite him all day.

[champ/irelia.png]
8/10

her annoying hop gap closes so hard. When trading close range, try not to be in range of her stun if she still has her gap closer. She will hurt a lot at level 4, because she will always in trades. Sustain till level 6 and then proceed by buying [items/giants-belt.png]

[champ/jarvaniv.png]
5/10

Even match up, very tanky and once he hits 3 he will always win trade. At level 6 if you play it correctly, you will be able to hop his ult before damage even applies. Buy [items/ninja-tabi.png]

[champ/jax.png]
9/10

Be very careful when poking at level 3. He will burst you like a mofo. If he buys sustains more than your poke, dont even bother and buy [items/mercurys-treads.png][items/sunfire-cape.png]. Time when his wards run out, and ask your jungler for help when he overextends.

[champ/jayce.png]
4/10

Another easy line up, because sustain basically counters Jayce. Dodge his poke and you win all trades.

[champ/leesin.png]
4/10

If Lee maxes sustain, and you are ahead, keep poking, because you will out damage him most likely. However, if you are behind, buy [items/ninja-tabi.png][items/sunfire-cape.png]. You should win trades when you finish sunfire.

[champ/olaf.png]
3/10

Dodging olaf's q and then keeping your distance from his reckless swing will give you free damage on him. If you are hit by Olaf's q, then you will most likely lose all trades, unless you are level 6.

[champ/pantheon.png]
9/10

hard ass mofo. He will always win trades because of his passive and his q damage is just so high. Dont even bother trading and rush [items/ninja-tabi.png], starting with [items/cloth-armor.png][items/health-potion5.png]. You will win trades after level 6

[champ/renekton.png]
8/10

Another hard line up. Watch out for his double dash at level 3. Renekton's most likely dash at a low health minion and then on to you. Poke if you dont have any of your minions near you

[champ/rengar.png]
3/10 or 7/10

If rengar goes glass cannon, maxing q first and then going sword of divine, he will, tbh, be a hard match up. He out damages you and you cannot use your passive because he will just pounce on you every time. Rush all armor items if the opposing team has an all ad team and wait till late game. If rengar goes sustain, then it will be a much easier line up, because you win all trades

[champ/riven.png]
6/10

ALWAYS keep your distance when trading. She will hop on you and burst you if you dont have armor. If you position smart then you can get free pokes in. ALWAYS fight when you are ahead, otherwise, if you are equal, fight with a bigger minion wave and dodge her ult.

[champ/rumble.png]
7/10

Rumble wins trades if he is little to point blank range, because of his flamebreath ability. Rush [items/spirit-visage.png] and dont even try to trade. Wait till late game, unless you outplay rumble by dodging his ult or you are ahead

[champ/shen.png]
2/10

One of the easiest line ups because he basically cannot do anything when you poke him except "q". Its very obvious when the enemy jungler sets up games because Shen will most likely play aggressive, trying to land a taunt. Dodge the taunt and proceed by owning your lane. Buy [items/sheen.png] into a [items/frozen-fist.png] if he rushes all armor

[champ/singed.png]
4/10?

Never played a singed, because of all the nerfs. Poking singed early game will shut down all his potential late game. Dont be afraid of his range when you are level 6. If he tries to farm pass your tower, set up 3 man ganks. HOWEVER, if singed is VERY ahead, dont even try to poke/set up ganks. 3 man ganks will be useless, so just try to farm/split push, and wait till mid game

[champ/teemo.png]
7/10?

I might have played against a teemo once or twice. Supposedly teemo is a counter to Nidalee because he pokes more than teemo when trading. I, however, have always won against teemo because i keep my distance. Proceed by buying [items/frozen-fist.png] if he goes ad and if he goes ap.

[champ/vladimir.png]
3/10

You win all trades if you land your spear, even if he "q" and "e"s you. Dont even buy [items/hexdrinker.png] unless the opposing team has double apc. Buy [items/spirit-visage.png] if you are behind, somehow, or rush [items/frozen-fist.png] for damage.
ps: imo, vlad is so under powered, probably one of the worst champs in the game, UNLESS you land an ult on everyone.

[champ/wukong.png]
5/10

Building armor early will let you win trades early. If he steps on your trap, and you're level 6, hes done. Decoy can be very annoying, but you can out play him pretty hard and don't get baited by his "s" ability, YAAAA, his "s" ability, lol

[champ/xinzhao.png]
10/10

This hard ass mofo will always win lane, no matter how far ahead you are (jk). Never trade at level 2-10. Rush [items/ninja-tabi.png][items/sunfire-cape.png] and focus on farming, unless your jungler plans to gank. Bait his charge out and then proceed to kill him. Even if you get a few kills, he can still kill you. One way i outplay xin is, when trading in brushes, jump in and out of brushes while "e" and "q"ing xin. This allows you to get free damage on xin zhao and you might even be able to kill him.

[champ/yorick.png]
3/10

Annoying, but building [items/chalice-of-harmony.png] first and then [items/spirit-visage.png] will out sustain him, letting you be able to kill him at level 6 easily.

[champ/zed.png]
4/10

Get easy poke down early, and watch out for his ultimate. Dont let him do damage with his time bomber on you. Flash away and then re-engage after the bomb is off. Buy armor if he gets the advantage
