this is my Jax top lane guide. In this Guide you will find many new feautures.
This build is with a pair of new items, but the old items are good too so i use them too.

21/9/0 - MASTERIES
I chose this Masteries, cause it gives you good balanced benefits (AD / AP).
In this area i chose balanced skills. Jax is a hybrid Champ and I think that explain the most.
I chose this Masteries cause, Jax will not only make damage with his normal attacks ...
No he will make damage with his spells, too. At the latest you will see that hybrid is so op by Jax,
because his Ulti make an abnormal extra damage. The Ulti-Passive is really hard.
In this area, you find little bit health, armor and magic resist.
I chose this Skills, because Jax is a heavy champ with not so good defensive situationals.
This Masterie will help Jax much, obvisious it's the Agressive or Defensive play.
Runes9x Greater Mark of Hybrid Penetration
9x Greater Seal of Armor
9x Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist
3x Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage
Explanation: "Why I chose this runes ?"
I chose this runes, cause you have much defensive situationals as offensive.
It's really practical for the early game. You'll pown all with this runes.
Often enemies on top lane are off tanks, so they have often from the beginning much
armor as magic resist. But for this you have the Marks of Hybrid Penetration.
Seal and Glyph want to give you more defense attitude.
The Quintessences are for extra damage, who wants to help you at the beginning.
Explanation: "Why Mark of Hybrid Penetration ?"
I chose this Marks, cause you dont' need at the end of game Armor or Magic Penetration.
It's practical, cause you don't buy Items, when you have enemies with really much Armor or MR.
So I chose this Runes and I hope, you'll like it ...
Smite for the standard reasons in that it's a ranged powerhouse true damage skill that makes stealing/counterstealing your expensive minions/neutrals much harder. Off the top of my head the only spells that can effectively outdamage it to take your buff/dragon/baron not done in perfect combination are:
1. Enemy Smite
2. High Level Alpha Strike Proc
3. Feast and Consume
4. Extremely fed carry with a raw damage ultimate (think Ezreal or Lux etc)
Out of all of these, 1 relies on chance, 1 relies on the champion being melee range, 1 relies on being fed on a select champion and the 4th is a smite. Having smite effectively stops random enemies from harassing you all day in the jungle as their champion could have a spell that is higher damage than your highest damaging spell which means they could easily take every single minion of yours as their lasthits will occur earlier.
Smite also makes other camps easier as you have the ability to kill camps that you normally couldn't do without dying because you have a extra 600 damage nuke to finish it quicker.
Flash due to the fact it allows you to gank/escape/make plays far easier than most spells as you're able to exert more pressure to follow any enemy flashes or maintain your unspeakable horror until it goes off. Combined with his Duskbringer, it makes it very hard for opponents to escape from Nocturne without numerous CC or speed buffs.
Passive: "Relentless Assault"
Relentless Assault is Jax passive. With every autoattack you land, your attack speed gets increased by % value. This value increases every 3 lvls and stacks 6 TIMES. Bonus with lvls are these:
- 1-3 : 4% attack speed bonus (total bonus is 24%)
- 4-6 : 6% attack speed bonus (total bonus is 36%)
- 7-9 : 8% attack speed bonus (total bonus is 48%)
- 10-12 : 10% attack speed bonus (total bonus is 60%)
- 13-15 : 12% attack speed bonus (total bonus is 72%)
- 16-18 : 14% attack speed bonus (total bonus is 84%)
Q-Skill: "Leap Strike"
Leap Strike is Jax Q. It is your close gap spell. Use this spell to catch enemies or to run from them. Awesome part of this spell is, that it can target even friendly units! That means little Shacos, Teemo mushrooms, wards, minions, champions. Use this spell for faster movement over battlefield. You can jump even over wall with this spell.

Empower is Jax W. When you press your W button you have few seconds to use it. Basicly it charges your lamppost with energy, that is released with following autoattack. It RESETs your autoattack timer, so you can make combo like this: AA - W - AA. This will land two autoattacks (one empowered) in very short time. Additional, if you have Sheen the damage dealt will be devastating.

E-Skill: "Counter Strike"
Counter Strike is Jax E. It is the spell that makes Jax what he is. This spell needs practice when to use it. If you press your E button, you will DODGE ALL INCOMING AUTOATTACKs and reduce AoE spell damage for 25%. The dodging part takes exactly 2 seconds, then you deal some damage and STUN every enemy around for 1 second. After 1 seconds of dodging you can press E again to end dodging and stun instantly, but you lose that AoE damage reduction. Important parts of this spell are DODGE and STUN, not damage.
- + Stun for 1 seconds
- + 25% AoE damage reduction
- + Dodge autoattacks for 2 seconds
R-Skill: "Grandmaster's Might"
Grandmaster's Might is Jax R - ultimate. It has passive and active part.
Every third following autoattack deals bonus magic damage. It makes PFTHH sound. If this effect is ready to use you will see small icon above your HUD (fist with eye). You HAVE TO land this attack pretty soon (ca 2 seconds) after previous autoattack or it is lost! If you manage to land AA + Empower + Sheen damage proc + PFTHH, you deal ridiculous amount of damage.

This active part of ultimate is survivability stuff. So if you activate it, you receive bonus armor and MR. The received value is base value (25/35/45) plus % of your current bonus AD and total AP! The bonus lasts 8 seconds.
What does that actualy mean? It is actualy much better than it looks like, because if you are facing heavy AD team you build AD items and get more bonus armor from ulti. Similar if you are facing heavy AP team, you build AP items and get more MR bonus from ulti. Looks pretty well.
One last note: If you read previous paragraph once again and then remember the stuff I was talking about Hybrid Jax, you will realize one awesome thing. As Hybrid you are hard to counter, BUT you can pretty easily counter AD and even AP champ, just by buying AD/AP items.
Lvl up your ultimate every time you can. That means lvl 6, 11 and 16.
As first you skill ur q to come near to enemies.
But when you have a scrapper on your lane skill first ur w .
Your W must be mained, cause you make extra damage which can safe you hard.
If the enemy team is AD > AP lvl up Counter Strike first.
You need to dodge as many autoattacks as possible and lvling up Counter Strike lowers its cooldown.
If the enemy team is AP > AD go for Leap Strike first. You need to jump in, stun them, deal damage and jump away. Leap Strike cooldown gets lower if you lvl it up.
