IntroductionTo begin it might strike you when you hear top Thresh. Surprisingly enough he actually is a good top. Thresh has amazing cc, great initiate and team fight presence. This guide will be covering the major aspects of Thresh so you can go out there and kill everybody.
These two are great spells. Flash to land your q or r easily and ignite to win trades.
: Dear god no
: Your not playing support
: If there team is cc heavy then replace ignite with this.
: Not really that good.
: Flash is better.
: Not necessary.
: Only if your planning to throw.
: Dis isnt jungle
: Ignite and flash are better choices.
Thresh can harvest the souls of enemies that die near him, permanently granting him armor and ability power.
Thresh;s passive can be tricky to use and master. Picking up souls can be hard because if your opponent can zone well then your in trouble. Remember that Thresh gains no armor unless he picks up no souls so just last hit and try to collect souls. If your opponent punishes you for trying to pick up souls just use to knock him away.
Q: Death Sentence
Thresh's attacks wind up, dealing more damage the longer he waits between attacks. When activated, Thresh binds an enemy in chains and pulls them toward him. Activating this ability a second time pulls Thresh to the enemy.
This lets his auto attacks deal a lot of damage and win control over the lane. The active of this ability is great for pulling people to you so you can land your other spells for combos. Remember that this ability has a wind up so you might need to predict where they are walking so you can land this.
W: Dark Passage
Thresh throws out a lantern that shields nearby allied Champions from damage. Allies can click the lantern to dash to Thresh.
Create a shielding lantern that an ally can use to dash to you.
Throw the Lantern to a point. If an ally near the Lantern clicks it, they pick it up and Thresh pulls both back to him.
This is more of a support spell but can still be used offensively. This really has two purposes. One of them is whether your dueling or running this is a great shield meaning that you can absorb a lot of damage. The second way is to help your jungler. Since your team mate can use your lantern to pull himself to you, you can set up ganks this way.
Thresh sweeps his chain, knocking all enemies hit in the direction of the blow.
Knock nearby enemies in the direction of your choice. If the enemy is in front of you he will be pushed back. If he is behind you, he will be knocked towards you.
The description says it all this mainly used to make your enemies hit your box. This skill really isn't complicated.
R: The Box
Thresh creates a prison of walls that slow and deal damage if broken.
Trap enemies inside walls that slow and deal damage if broken.
Creates a prison of spectral walls around himself. If broken enemy is slowed by 99%
This move is so cool. This ability makes it so there walking .0000001 miles per hour. This ability has such a huge impact on team fights. The damage of this ability is a crap ton and the slow is unbelievably good. A cool combo is then then .

Maxing your Q first will maximize your damage output. Your shield comes next because you will be able to protect yourself and your team. Your E comes last because it does basically no damage so max it last. Then get your ultimate whenever you can becomes its OP.
Item Builds: Good item, magic resist and AP helps you all around i recommend getting this last.
: If they have something like a fed or the person your laning against has strong pokes like then get this.
: This is AP Thresh not AD.
: If your used to getting DFG on a lot of mages then consider this.
: Rylai's is so much better.
: If your dying a lot in team fights then this is wise to invest in.
: Good early game item. I would not recommend buying . Just sell your Haunting Guise when you need to make room for another item.
: This weapon is so great. Good cc. It also gives Thresh everything he needs.
: Lich Bane combined with is an amazing combo with the passive of .
: Would not recommend since your more of a Tanky AP then a flat out AP damager.
: Good if you really want to get hella tanky.
: Another great item, it gives him HP and AP which is great.
: If there is no other tank on your team then buy this.
: This or Rylai's is a choice you need to make.
: Good for hunting down your prey, also great stats.
: Not necessary.
Match ups: Easy: If she goes in her shroud just use your Q and you'll pull her out. You out range her and also she'll just Ult in your Ult.
: Nothing: Congratz your gonna be farming and not fighting for the next 20 minutes.
: Hard: Darius is hard to deal with his damage is crazy and even though you can harass him from afar he can still win in a 1v1. Try to farm at tower and if he comes close then Q him.
: Hard: Her parry can do a lot of damage since your autos do a good amount. She can just avoid your ult with hers. Does a lot of damage too. Just use the same strategy as Darius.
: Easy: Gankplank isn't good anymore this is an easy lane just combo him to easily kill him.
: Insane: His silence destroys you, He can juke your Q with his speed boost also his ult one shots you. Have fun losing the lane.
: Medium: If the Irelia can use her full combo correctly it can be hard but if you keep your distance and passively harass her you should be fine.
: Hard: Flies at you and gets rid of 1/3rd of your HP. His stun is hard to outrun and his passive on the ult is annoying and so is the ult its self.
: Nothing: Like cho'gath is a farming lane. When your jungler comes it should be an easy kill though.
: Medium: After 6 Nasus is hard to kill so i recommend only fighting him pre-6 then wait for ganks so you can kill him.
: Easy: Your passive on your Q hits him even with his shield up but the AD is blocked. So easy to pull also you can intrupt his ult with 2 abilities so have fun winning this easy lane.
: Hard: His mobility makes it hard to land your crap. Avoid and be cautious he will rape your dick.
: Easy: You win cause there playing Teemo.
: Easy: Pre-6 you can win trades, not so much after 6 but if you play your cards right you can.
Early GameEarly game just stick to farming creeps and collecting there souls so you can be a tanky man. Thresh isn't the best fighter against most bruisers but he can still dish out a lot of damage. Remember to set up ganks with your to help your jungler out. The best thing one can do as Thresh is to wait at tower and try to pull in his opponent with his Q then use your E to knock them backwards.
Mid GameAgain keep trying to collect souls since they are good all game. Team fights you need to make sure to flash ult in the middle of everyone or if your flash is down then try to position yourself correctly so you can. Thresh's cc can really impact your team since all of his abilities are saying your not going anywhere buddy boy. Thresh is basically a Blitzcrank with more cc.
Late GameCollect the souls of errybody. Do the same as Mid game.
