Introduction
This is a guide for two builds I usually do for Solo Top Teemo. I play Teemo as a heavy bruiser or a Hybrid DPS champion. Teemo is a good solo top champion because he has a high poke, with a good harass (Blinding Shot, his Q) against Melee DPS champions, which is currently the solo top meta right now, which Teemo can bring down hardcore.
Masteries
I run this masteries generally so I can play Bruiser or Hybrid. These masteries give you a good amount of spell pen and armor pen along with your runes, so you can deal out a good amount of poke early game, all while keeping your sustain in lane. Dodge chance because the vast majority of solo top laners are AD, and dodge really helps to keep them at bay. It also synchs well with your move quick if you get a dodge proc, and they'll never catch you. Along with shrooms, dodge, and move quick, you are nearly ungankable unless you make a monumental screw up.
Runes
These runes give you a lot to work with in lane, because of the HP and Dodge, you already start out as a pretty beefy Teemo, so when you grab your Cloth Armor or Shoes, you can really lay down some solid harass while not getting insta-gibbed.
Summoner Spells
![summoners/flash.png [summoners/flash.png]](guide/summoners/flash.png)
![summoners/ignite.png [summoners/ignite.png]](guide/summoners/ignite.png)
Explanation:
I take Flash/Ignite because as Teemo, you are a very mobile champion, so with Flash, Shrooms, and Move Quick, you are nearly ungankable after level 6. Flash is a must-have.
As for Ignite, I grab ignite because it really does great amounts of damage at low levels 1v1, especially with your Toxic Shot.
An alternative to
is
, because 1v1, Teemo can blind, and then just DPS the hell out of who ever you are fighting. Exhaust can also be used as a great defense mechanism, where it will slow them as you run away or kite your enemy. The final alternative is
, because you can use it to teleport yourself to mushrooms around the map or wards at Dragon/Baron when your team needs you. Teleport allows you to split push like an asshole, then quick tele to the other side of the map, or take a fast Baron if their team is out of position.
Skill Order
I try to max out
because it is one of your main sources of damage in lane, and provides a great poking power. When the enemy laner comes up to try to last hit minions, punish them by
and then auto-attacking them.
can really cripple and annoy enemy laners when they try to last hit, and it can become very frustrating when their minions start to get the last hits instead of them. This is a sort of passive denying of creep gold, even when they are standing at the minion line. With your
, make sure to shroom up all the bushes in the nearby area, along with shrooming the ganking pathways that a jungler or midlane may take to come to gank you. You can also place the shrooms along the walls or aside from the average paths, so you can see the enemies coming, but they do not set off the traps so you don't have to replace them all the time. Teemo's
should be used to give your team great map control, and also allow you to split push like a boss and escape when necessary.
is amazing when junglers come to gank. If you can see them coming, pop
when they hit a shroom, or when you feel you need to escape and then just run alongside the wall. They will almost never catch you, and if they start to close the gap,
away.
Early Game
A good strategy to get a little early harass off is to utilize
and run to the center of your lane and stealth. Then, after the minion line comes up along with the enemy champion, just auto-attack them as they try to last hit because they think you are out of lane. This will make them back off, and you will take minimal damage.Early game you won't have the map advantage of having your mushrooms all over the place, so be a little weary of early ganks.
Make sure to create a lane presence and do a little poking here and there as well as last hitting. Once you get your [imgext=]
, it will become infinitely more easy to last hit and harass, as well as giving yourself a lot of lane sustainability. You should almost never be out of mana on Teemo, because not all of his skills are high cost skills, except for
.
Mid Game
You should have a good chunk of your core items: Shoes, Wriggles, Phage/Malady. Stay up top and push/farm to your little hearts desire, while making sure to shroom and utilize your Wriggles ward whenever it is up. This will keep you from getting ganked and will allow you to farm up for later teamfights. Keep on farming and try to out lane your opponent. If their jungler wastes his time coming top to gank you, just kite him back and forth through shrooms and go back.
Late Game
Late game, you can take one or two paths; a.) You can keep split pushing top and be the biggest bitch to play against ever because you have so much CS from just staying in lane forever, lots of global gold for towers, and having to take the attention of 1 or more of the enemy team members to come stop you as your team Barons/Dragons/Pushes another lane.
or
b.) Team fight a lot and roam with your team. Teemo is an extremely mobile champion with a great map presence. Shroom around where your team might be positioning and you all can jump on an enemy and insta-gib them when they blow off a trap. Then you've created a great opening for 4v5 and allows your team to take advantage of having the upper hand. In fights as Teemo, if they have a champ like Irelia or Udyr or another AD bruiser/assassin who will fly into your group, blind them as they charge in, because while they are blind, your team can blow them up before they can do that much damage. Or you can blind their AD ranged carry if you are able to, and this mitigates all of their damage for the duration of the Blind. This will allow your team to nuke them down or stun them while the carry cannot perform any successful auto-attacks, and destroys a main source of the enemy team's damage output.
Final Comments

OR
This varies on who you will be facing solo top. If it is a high harass champion, or champion that has a higher sustain than you, take Cloth Armor. If it is a champion you can bully by kiting and poking by having higher move speed (e.g. Nasus, Udyr), take shoes so you can kite and blind.

, and
. This build will give you high sustainability in team fights, you can easily disable their carries, all while doing a solid amount of DPS.
,
. This build is more of a high DPS build, other than Bruiser Teemo, and will give your team more of a squishy carry. Hybrid Teemo brings to the team a solid amount of damage, all while being a good spread of it as well. Use Hybrid Teemo if your team does not have significant damage, or if you think that you can really roll your lane. Hybrid Teemo requires a lot of farm, and late game, generally cannot be 1v1'd by any of their carries due to your blind and SpellVamp + LifeSteal
