Introduction
As Riven you have a variety of builds and roles you can fill. In this guide I will go over jungling and becoming a tanky bruiser. Riven isn't the strongest jungler but if your team doesn't have a jungler and your already locked in you can quickly switch your runes and masteries to become what your teammates refused to get. They can't comment on your jungle if none of them chose to be a jungler because jungling is a staple of the team and if you don't have one then your team is at a disadvantage."ALWAYS CARE FOR A GAREN IN THE BUSH" - kylixx
also
"LEE SIN CAN GANK AT 2 BEFORE YOUR MINIONS GET TO YOU"-kylixx
something I say every game if one of the oppenents is lee sin or garen. Rememeber this.
Updating small riven buffs in soon!
Jungling
1. Wolves2. Wraiths (smite the purple one and put your skill point in and use it immediately)
3. Mini golems
(you can either Base or you can go do blue or it's GANK TIME)
4. Blue
5. Wraiths
6. Red
7. Mini-golems
(base then gank some more)
(also make sure you are constantly setting wards because dragon and baron control are your job)
Masteries
I go 21/0/9 in the mastery tree because you want to have that extra damage in the jungle and in fights. I you could sub out attack speed for extra crit strike damage if you feel you want to do more damage late game. I believe that in the jungle for the first 6 levels or until you have acquired some crit items that attack speed is better. I highly recommend cooldown reduction on riven. You don't have mana or energy or any resource so everything you do is dependent on your moves coming off cooldown.
Runes
I take Greater Mark of Desolation
Greater Seal of Resilience
Greater Glyphs of Focus
1 Greater Quintessence of Desolation
2 Greater Quintessence of Fortitude
You can sub out the fortitude quints for flat AD quints it's really a matter of opinion. AD is by no means a bad choice but I rather more Hp for my first few levels then more damage on Riven.
Summoner Spells

Explanation:
get this as a jungler or you will die.
get this as a summoner or you will die.
Skills
Passive: Runic BladeRiven's abilities charge her blade, causing her basic attacks to deal 5/15/25/35/45/55/65/75/85/95/105/115/125/135/145/155/165/175 (+100% of attack damage) bonus physical damage. Riven's blade may be charged up to 3 times and expends one charge per attack.
Explanation:
Not really worth hitting this inbetween each Q in the jungle. Just spam your moves and if you get to 3 charges attack once. You have plently of downtime while stuff is on Cooldown to use up the 3 stored charges.
Q: Broken WingsRiven strikes out in front of her in a short line. This ability may be reactivated 2 additional times.
1st Use: Slashes forward, dealing 30/50/70/90/110 (+60% of attack damage) physical damage to all units she comes in contact with.
2nd Use: Slashes forward, dealing 30/50/70/90/110 (+60% of attack damage) physical damage to all units she comes in contact with.
3rd Use: Leaps into the air and slams the ground dealing 30/50/70/90/110 (+60% of attack damage) physical damage and knocking nearby enemies away from the point of impact.
Cooldown 13 seconds
Cost none
Explanation:
I think riven's strongest move that makes getting places and catching people easy. It takes some time to get use to and you want to be able to hit all the neutral camps with it so take some time practicing with it. Sadly you can't go through walls..... I LOVE GOING THROUGH WALLS.
W: Ki BurstRiven's sword emits a burst of runic energy that shocks nearby enemies, dealing 50/90/130/170/210 (+100% of attack damage) physical damage and stunning them for 0.5 seconds.
Cooldown 11/10/9/8/7 seconds
Cost none
Explanation:
This move does more then your
for a long time in the game. You get points in this early because it makes the jungle easier at low levels.
E: ValorRiven does a quick dash in the direction of your cursor and becomes shielded, blocking up to 40/70/100/130/160 (+100% of attack damage) incoming damage for 2.5 seconds.
Cooldown 11/10/9/8/7 seconds
Cost none
Explanation:
In my video and guide I don't take this until later. You can take this at 3 but I think
at 2 points is way to strong to pass up. If you took AD runes for your jungle you might grab this because it scales with AD. The shield is also a good TINY roll so if you want to get it for rolling at level 3 by all means roll away. Also it gives you something to use while your other moves are on CD which isn't a bad thing.
R: Blade of the ExileRiven's weapon surges with spiritual energy for 15 seconds, granting her 20% bonus attack damage, increased range on her damaging spells and attacks, and the ability to use Wind Slash once.
Wind Slash: Riven fires a shockwave that deals from 80/120/160 (+60% of ability power) to 240/360/480 (+180% of ability power) physical damage to all enemies hit, increasing based on how much health they are missing.
Cooldown 75/60/45 seconds
Cost none
Explanation:
Minor Steroid at low levels not really much here. The Wind Slashes Damage is MEH at the first two points
The main plus is that is on a very low CD so pop it any time you want to fight/ do dragon/ accidently hit R.
Skill Order
I max
first because its going to be most of your damage mid-late game.
comes second because of the damage and the TINY stun that does technically stun so it's not horrible its just extremely short. The animation for the stun is almost as long as the duration so really using it is for the damage and for your teammates. Team fight a stun on they whole team will throw them off and will give your team a little more time to get their heads on straight and kill stuff.
Scales with AD gives you a nice shield and once your tanky is a nice part of your kit. The main think I use this for is the Mobility and to trade blows. Remember you have no resource using this on CD isn't hurting anyone.
of course get your ult, who do you think your playing SION?
Item Builds
I always build my Jungler tanky as I've said in most of my guides.
plus
or
is something I highly Recommend.after my first base I normally grab a
but you can always grab a
instead or
. Whichever you do make sure your rushing to have
and
as soon as possible. After the basic shoes and wriggles you want to decide TANKY or CARRY.
Your moves force you to leap into the fight and your a melee. A dead Melee is an EVE.... I mean is a useless melee.
Early Game
There is nothing wrong with staying in your jungle until you are able to gank. Wasting time sitting in a bush just makes you less effective later in the game. You are not strong at dueling for the first 4 levels so if you see that Lee Sin or Xin Zhao in your jungle stealing your camps. Have one of your teammates help you kill him or force him out. If he's at 1 bar and your at max then by all means kill him because he deserves it for being stupid and in your jungle. Otherwise farming is your greatest ally. If it's a +1 fight meaning you have 1 more person then them then help Kill Secure or (KS) for short.
Mid Game
You Scan the field and look for an ashe. If the ashe is on the field then you camp it and kill it. This is what I do on any jungler. Don't know why but most ashe players are worse at living then others. They may hawkshot you in which case take a trip around the block. If they are bottom with support you have to bum rush them before they have time to react to the ward you just walked through. Making an oppenent blow flash or health pots is a successful Gank because you are ganking to give your team the laning advantage.
Late Game
You want to farm, push out, get baron/dragon and clear your jungle. Do not just sit in mid staring at the other team. If you have a staring contest you better have a lee sin or something to assure victory. You have to have a lot of burst and someone with a great Initiate and someone who can tank the tower if your MID-STARING if you are clearly more farmed and have baron and can assure 100% victory then dive away otherwise you can lose the game to one late game fight loss. split push or clear there jungle as a team or poke poke poke but do not just sit there and wait for them to make the first move.

SOMETHING LIKE THIS. You want to try to
the whole team and jump straight to the carry but some things don't always work out so make sure your carry is safe and just spam moves on whoever your team needs to kill first. Also know when to retreat. If your team is running in 1 at a time dying then you should probably be like "3 on my team just died, 5-3=2, 2v5= bad, time to run away"unless your Akali then you wait til it's like this "4 people just died, 5-4=me , 1v5= pentakill, time to win game"
