Looking up the runepage he suggested in his other Akali-guide on solomid (using 2 flat AP/1 flat HP quint) you might find this line:
'With this rune setup, you will have 19 AP, meaning you will get your offensive "red glow" passive at level 2, where you should be harassing the enemy at this point (because of Q and your shroud).'

Is it really necessary/useful to have those 24 AP at lvl 1?
Since you just need 20 to get the AP-passive, wouldn't 4 AP/lvl glyphs be stronger?
Would get 19 AP + 16 AP@18, AP-passive still activated :3
The reason why he usses 6.6 attack dmg is because he gets 3 bonus attack dmg rom his masteries, which makes it 9.6, and the game will round it up to 10. Thus, activating her passive.
Hey, very nice guide. I am actually level 25 and building a rune page for Akali, but why only 6,6 dmg? You need 10 dmg for her passive, but 6,6 isn't enough?

It is really 7.0 with +3 in masteries = 10AD
